And I also found a comp of indie punk bands covering TV themes... H2O had an acceptable version of the Cops theme, but other than that, it's... eh.

Did you MISS Sublime's Hong Kong Phooey or the Ramones' Spider-Man?

Green Day's "Don't wanna fall in love" rules, as does the whole Shenanigans album. "Rotting" is great for calming the nerves.

David Grohl's cover of "With Arms Wide Open" is not to be missed. Trust me.

Oh yeah, and 'Sloop John B' is awesome when Me First & the Gimme Gimmes do it. I mean, it's awesome when the Beach Boys do it too, but...

Taking a tip from MoeGates, I find that I am Rex Banner, Ty Pennington, Dr. Scott, Berlin-era Bowie, a Snake Print Doc Marten, Jim Morrison, Butch Coolidge, Robocop, Regis Philbin, an Emotional Drunk, Lincoln, Kermit and Ghetto Fabulous. Of course.

Uh... no? Just a matter of personal preference.

Oh, and if you're talking about Dave Grohl covers, you MUST go out and DL his cover of "Tiny Dancer" from Kilborn. He tries to get the audience involved, and cuts the verses short because he just wants to get to the chorus.

I listened to SRC-LoveSong on the way to work today - friggin love that song.

Fountains of Wayne has a great cover of Brittney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time". It is a mellow jam.

Metalica's cover of "The Wait" (Killing Joke) rocks totally. I think it is on the first Garage Days.

Flaming Lips do an awesome cover of Louie Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" on "Telepathic Surgery". I could listen to this 50 times in a row.

RHCP have at least one Hendrix cover recorded, but they always seem to do 2 in concert. They also do a decent cover of "Subterranean Homesick Blues" on "Uplift Mofo Party Plan".

Butthole Surfers have a bunch of good ones - "The One I Love" (REM) on their double live CD, "American Woman" (Guess Who), "Sweatloaf" (Sabbath's Sweet Leaf)...

On Kazaa, try and check out The Alkaline Trio's cover of "The Metro" by Berlin. It is a jam.

Faith No More - War Pigs (Sabbath)
DKs - Take This Job and Shove It (J Cash)
The Get-Up Kids - Close to Me (Cure)
Husker Du - Eight Miles High (Byrds)
Anything that Richard Cheese does - hilarious
Live/Ed K - Imagine (Lennon)
Love Spit Love - How Soon is Now? (Smiths)
Meatmen - How Soon is Now (Smiths)
Limp Bizkit - Faith (George Michael)
Krokus - American Woman (Guess Who) - used to have the '45...
Seven Seconds - 99 Red Balloons (Nena)
Lone Cowboys - You Light Up My Life (Debbie Boone) - good luck finding this one, I haven't come across it in 15-20 years, but it is really good.
Code Seven - Boys of Summer (Henley)

System of a Down-"Snowblind" (Black Sabbath)

MXPX-"Blue Moon"(ummm..some old guy),
"I Saw Her Standing There"(Beatles),
"Summer of '69"(Ryan...oops Bryan Adams)

Green Day-"Teenage Lobotomy"(RAMONES),
"Tired of Waiting"(some other old band),
"Mohogany" (can't remeber her name)(also technically this was a Pinhead Gunpowder cover but whatever),
"Sometimes" (i don't mind) (If I knew the original a load would be lifted off my mind. They did it for a radio show.)
Also..Angry Johnny, you mentioned that "Don't wanna fall in love" was a cover. I thought it was an original by Green Day.I could be wrong

Metallica-"Whiskey in a Jar" (thin lizzy, also an Irish song.)
"Turn the Page" (Bob Segar)
"Die, Die, Die my Darling (Misfits)

THe RAMONES-"Spider Man" (stupid 70's show)
"Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" (Creadance?)
"California Sun" (I'll assume Beach Boys.)

Limp Bizkit-"Faith" (George Micheal) I like this but his version of "Fame" was terrible.

And Me First and the Gimme Gimmes all time greatest cover-"The Phantom of the Opera" (Micheal Crawford)

Apologies to all the missed originals and minor screw-ups

-The new Everclear album is...an Everclear album. I'd say it's better than the Songs From An American Movie albums, but it's not as good as Sparkle And Fade or So Much For The Afterglow.
