What Worked

TKG: I dug the opening tag. First time since weve been writing this that Christian has looked good. And he really looked great here. Booker T is really good as a hot tag worker but when stuck with someone as shitty as RVD, it was smart to have him work the body of the match and let RV do the hot tag.

PAS: Hey after a month or so of awful workrate tags we finally get one that works. Booker T and Jericho have worked well with each other for years, and Christian looked really good. I think one thing that made this so much better then previous weeks, is that everything in this match was pretty tight, while all of those Lance Storm tags had the Lance Storm style contactless wrestling.

TKG: When I first read in the sheets about how Neil Labute was gonna be ghostwritting for RAW, I wasnt that stoked. Ive never understood why all the critics cum over themselves over Labutes writting. Ive spent time with Mormons and his writing comes across as just really predictable to me. After the first scene you can pretty much guess everything thats gonna happen next. So Heyman tells Christian and Jericho that whichever one of them can get one of the RAW face women pregnant (putting her out of commission) gets a shot at the Smackdown Title. Christian eventually knocks Lita up and then laughs in her face as he leaves for Smackdown. Jericho is ostracized and feels guilty for the whole thing slowly turning him semi-face, as he pledges that he will raise Litas child as his own. Jericho starts referring to Litas child as his son. Lita then drowns the kid. Jericho breaks down. The woman, who can never make it into the kingdom of Heaven, Lita ends up seconding and manipulating Jericho as hes a broken man. Its all so shitty and predictable. But watching tonights show I realized that despite its obviousness, at least its long term booking. Ill give WWE credit for at least doing long term booking again.

PAS: I liked Maven v. Batista, if you are going to continue to employ the Tough Enough guys even though the show is canceled, having your roid guys squash them is how you do it.

TKG: I thought Bischoffs sleazy mic work during the contract signing where he tried to both sell the PPV and the latest WWE publishing, was good.

PAS: I was kind of amused at D-Von Dudley mat wrestling in a face v. face match. Lance Cade was so much better as Bobby Duncum III then he is as a fake toga guy at Dennis Kozloyskis birthday party.

TKG: Mark Henry vs. Michaels wasnt as good as Goldberg vs. Henry. But Henry did a nice job with the big bump and whatnot trying to get the match over. After seeing him also sell big for Austin stunner, I really felt that it was a waste to job him that cleanly.

PAS: Mark Henry is the best worker on this brand as he bumps around enough to carry useless Shawn Micheals. I really liked the Bearhug into a bridge pin, I also dug how the match was layed out, with Micheals getting dominated and hitting the superkick like a fluke right hand in a boxing fight.

What Worked

TKG: Man Shawn Michaels sucks as Eric Embry. You can build a show out of mentioning Embry in every segment. Booking around Michaels, with Austin begging for his help, Cade and Jindrack talking about the inspiration Shawn provides, Orton talking about beating him, showing him going over in an Iron Man match even shittier than the Smackdown one...etc, etc. Good God at least Embry would have thrown in a nice spitting interview, a piledriver and better bumps.

PAS: The Victoria v. Trish sections of the tag was fun, although Victoria facial expressions would get her kicked out of GLOW. John Heidenrich should only be used as a guy to handcuff Teddy Long too.

TKG: Thats alot of production work to put into a Horace the Psychopath promo.

PAS: I really liked when the Zodiac would talk about killing Bruce Hart behind that spinning wheel and wah wah guitar.

What is wrong with you people?

When I got to the part about the Iron Man match I started to wonder if this whole article is sarcasm.

And if you think that its fake try to receive a chokeslam, a sweet chin music or a spear without scream or drop a tear..

Please tell me this is a joke. And by that I mean either the notion of LaBute ghostwritng Raw or not liking LaBute's writing. Both of these thoughts make me unhappy, albeit for vastly different reasons.

What is wrong with us? Too much I tell ya.

As to the Iron mMan match. Watching last nights show really made me feel like I was watching an Embry booked episode of WCCW or USWA as everysergment seemed to mention Michaels. Is he dieing of cancer or something?

The Michaels vs. Hart Iron Man match is a bad match.

Both me and Phil had mixed feeligs on the Smackdown Iron Man match, I think Phil dug it more than I did.

http://wienerboard.com/thread.php/id=14827

But I think it was easily better than the Michaels/Bret one.

I legit find Labute's writting overrated. The criticisms were pretty much in the report. Its highly predictable.I find that when seeing movies, plays or one acts written by him...that I normally can guess pretty much everything thats gonna happen ..all the "shocking twists" before the end of the first scene (in one acts it'sll take about a minute).

I've also spent alot of time with Mormons which makes his writting seems alot more obvious to me I guess. I used to be good friends with an ex military BYU student who was fiance insisted that they could only have anal sex before marriage to maintain her virginity. When they were about to get married , he realized that she was going to no longer allow him to do this so the night before the wedding he said to her that he would call it all off unless she agreed on Mcdonalds napkin that he could still get to "drive her dirt road" after they were married. She agreed. They had a couple kids and I'd get late night crying phone calls from her as to wether when he asks for anal sex wether it was marital rape since she was "coerced" to agree to it the night before marriage. She'd call me, because as non-Mormon she thought I had insight on the "pagan" belief in the existence of marital rape. And thats one of the more positive uplifting Mormon sexual relation stories I've been incvolved with. You take that background and then listen to people in that type of relationship criticize the Machiavellian nature of what they perceive non-Mormon courtship is like...and you get really obvious Neil Labute writting. It has no shock value for me and just coes accross as pedantic and overwritten.

I'd add that its worth getting the Playboy issue with Katarina Witt on the cover, which has the script of a scene that one of the editors cut out of "In the Company of Men". You realize how much without that editorial decision, the whole movie would have fallen apart. Also worth it for naked Witt, but that goes without saying.

Tom and Phil are Death Valley Playaz and have contributed to many issues of the Death Valley Driver Video Review. The Workrate Report is a product of Death Valley Playaz. Knowledge of the DVDVR and the (mostly all) men behind it is something I would kind of like ANYBODY regularly frequenting this message board to be familiar with. I hate connecting the dots for you and hope you can do a little of your own outside research, but feel free to ask me again if you still don't get it.

I have nothing to add here, except that I'd agree if I'd ever actually read the article, which I have not, although I do have that issue. Again, I'm not into connecting the dots for you...but this time it's mostly because you probably really don't wanna see the picture of me it creates.

no falls in regulation, which was clearly due to their stubbornness/dislike of each other. The mat portion was pretty much killing time, why else spend almost 10 minutes of headlockness and reversal to headscissorness? then it's Bret working on HBK's back when clearly he has to hit a bunch of spots at the end and Bret basically no-selling Shawn's armlocks (which really doesn't help him superkick you in the face anyway...) so when there's like 15-20 minutes left or so they actually go into high gear so you have a sprint that doesn't NEED the previous stuff. There was hardly any crowd heat although you could say it was not a good choice of venue. It did not draw well and was hyped/had higher expecations put on it more than Rock/HHH and Lesnar/Angle combined.

But since it was wrestlemania, it was bret and shawn, and there was some actual wrestling done with Vince being aware of it, people just stamp ***** classic on it.

Katrina Witt is a little too buff for my tastes. I'm not really into that Roman statuesque look, but I'm not saying I like the Double cheeseburger supersize fries look either.
