PAS: Stacy v. Trish was surprisingly fun. Especially that nasty dropkick on Stacies knee. Simple match which was really well worked
TKG: Really well worked. for someone whose only spot is the big boot, this was better than any Nash match could think of. How many times has Jericho worked Tomko without ever delivering anything this good. Schnitsky has big boot too. I doubt chain on a pole will be this smart. The post match angle was silly. The whole fantasy booking thing shows how out of touch WWE is with their audience. They don't fantasize about nurses or french maids...And besides which, its internet voters...school girl outfits won't make them happy unless you guarantee that the divas eyes will be taped open into perfect circles and octopi will be shoved up their cooters.
PAS: Regal is one of my all time favorite wrestlers, and it is fun to watch him work in front of a crowd really into him. Earlier tonight we watched Regal work singles with Beniot, Eddie and tag with Rey in a parejas v, Malenko and Eddie. After that watching him team with a worked retard who can't punch against mediocre oiled OVW guy and Patterson's pillow biter isn't going to hold up. Still you got to like the crowd.
TKG: The crowd heat and good feelings based on watching the old WCW help get this up here. But honestly after watching WCW this really made me sad. I've never seen Regal work as loose as he did against Grenier. I was happy about Eugene bringing back the airplane spin. Bischoff promises La Resistance a tag match against whoever isn't voted on to face Helmsley. i really really don't want to have to see Benoit work a singles against Helmsley...but have perverse desire to see the shittyness that would be a Edge/HBK tag team. I kind of enjoyed Edge/hogan but HBK really isn't the hot tag worker that Hogan was. Damn now I don't know who to vote for.
TKG: The tag restart Jericho/Rhino vs. Tomko/ Chritian was best of the Jericho and partner vs. Tomko/Christian tag matches I've been stuck watching.
PAS: Main event was really heated and fun. Beniot was just killing Flair, and Batista was just killing Beniot. Really smart keeping Beniot in the ring to work Flair and Batista and keeping useless Helmsley, Micheals and Edge on the ring apron. Hot finish too, and I dug the cheap Edge win. According to Meltzer they are aiming for Micheals v. Helmsley which is pretty ridiculous, considering they have already run two streetfights, a 2/3 falls match and a Hell in the Cell on PPV. What is next? Hell they are already running Pipe on a poll, they can't use that twice.
TKG: Have they watched any of their earlier matches? Those two guys match up horribly with each other. Benoit//Edge have had a bunch of good matches with Flair/Batista team. The third members of the trios teams stink but were pretty unobjectionable here.
What Didn't Work
TKG: Why are they showing the US audience all the Daily Sun plugs? Really felt like they're worried about Viacom dropping them and sucking up to Murdoch early. But still this was shitty waste of my time. Liked Lawler covering for the crowd ignoring match to watch crowd fight...that was really smart. Not a lot else smart on commentary tonight.
TKG: They straightened Nidia's hair again? Idiots. After finding that sore on Noble's ass, I was shocked they kept her under contract.
PAS: Why in god's name would you try to kill a hot crowd by Dusty finishing the hometown guys championship win. They can't draw anyone but Mexicans in the U.S. anymore, why are you trying to kill Europe?
TKG: That Jericho vs. Steve Disalvo singles match was unwatchable. How many times has Heyman done the "impromptu" tag match gimmick in the last two months? Feels like I've seen it at least eighty times in last six weeks. I mean for tired shitty Heyman booking ideas its better than Eddy/Big Show trying to recreate the 911/Rey magic...but still tired.
PAS: Of all the shitty ECW things Heyman has recycled, this constant impromptu tag stuff is kind of in the middle.
TKG: How many times is Val Venis going to be hospitalized by Kane? Venis is still a nominee for Jericho opponent. Venis rules at selling body parts during matches but don't know wether he can pull this angle off.
PAS: Poor Venis, he has been such an Syndie MVP he deserves better then constant Kane beatings. It's Manchester, couldn't you bring up Chris Cage dress him all in black and have Kane hang him?
"If you want me to watch the shows, buy tickets when you come to town, buy t-shirts, and pay for a PPV every three days, you bet your ass I'm going to hard to impress. And when you give me stuff that blows and then tell me I don't get a vote on sharing that opinion, I'm going to tell you to go catch an STD." - Hogan's My Dad
"My brother saw the Undertaker walking through an airport." - Rex "Was he no-selling?" - Me
This sounds way too much like Rikishi being Austin's attacker. But it does sound like something they'd do. Every time they set up one of these "mystery" angles (who is the higher power, who attacked Austin/Goldberg, etc.)
