What Worked

PAS: Stevie Richards push continues. If they are going to push that useless Stevie Richards imitator in the main events, they might as well push the talented one too.

TKG: Doing the Stevie Richards torches shoulder bump when you just did the Rosey torches elbow spot was dumb. As Stevie’s bump is so great as to make Roseys' look far less impressive. And well Stevie builds the whole match around the bump while Rosey essentially forgets it. Having Richards get the pin on the same night you have Spike get the pin also makes it seem less important. Really poor card layout. Really the least of the Stevie Richards vs. Test series but if it leads to the Monday Night Stevie push, I’m all for it. The smart move to do is make the Rumble last Man Standing match a looser leaves town match. Than have Stevie work under the Masked Messiah mask for all the house shows for the next six months. Favorite part of match was when Stevie decided to do the legit angry guy attacking a roided up guy with kidney shots on the floor. Compare that to the fake Stevie who doesn’t even know how to punch to work a cut ...”C’mon Helmsley...blade again.. I can’t help you here”

PAS: Mark Henry continues to be the workrate savior of RAW as he carries RVD to his best match since Eddie Guerrerro jumped shows. He leans into RVD normally shitty strikes, hits all of his really great offense and puts useless Van Damn over clean.

TKG: Yeah match of the night by a long shot. Mark Henry gets to do his jump through the ropes spot that I dug so much against Goldberg. RVD does a great bump for it too. Mark works tight on RVD and RVD returns in kind here and there. Best RVD match in ages. Why is RVD getting a clean win on Mark Henry? According to Linda, Goldberg and Booker are among the top ten stars of the show. RVD isn’t one of the ten. Frickin Lita beats him out. Why is he getting a clean pin on Mark Henry?

PAS: I liked the finishing tag match a bunch as Flair kept Sid out of the ring, and Bubba was fired up and had some really nice Garvin chops. Flair really knows how to lay out a tag well, as I can’t remember enjoying a straight Dudley tag this much. Dvon useless blah blah Blue Meanie, Jason Knight blah blah.

TKG: Bah. I was less impressed by Bubba here. I did dig Flair’s sell of the Flip-Flop and Fly. He is the only guy who can actually sell for that as he does a really great “I’m confused by all these feints” sell. I’d really like him to work Ultimo before they fire Arai, as I think he’d do a real nice job of selling the confused by a headstand spot. For two broken down guys working in fumes I’d pay to see that Mask vs. Hair match long before you get me to shell out dough on Last Man standing.

What Didn’t Work

TKG: Hey its Spike Dudley, Steven Richards and Rosey and Hurricane. Who did they have left to work Heat?

TKG: Lawler doesn’t work a match? They’re in Memphis and Lawler doesn’t get to work a match. Instead they book Teddy Long to do a second rate Reggie B Fine gimmick. No explanation for this level of creative stupidity. I guess, just mama sez it beez that way sometimes.

PAS: Teddy Long spends entire night in full on Pigmeat Markham cooning. Including “I jus saah a ghost” arm waving run from Austin and an “I’m coming Elizabeth” sell of the Stunner. I think Long wants in on the WWE hall of fame and this is the next best thing to driving Vince’s car. Where is Thunderbolt Patterson to shakedown the WWE when we need him?

TKG: Ok so let me get this straight, Austin looses his job as co-manager. Linda Mcmahon (who thinks Vince has lost his mind) appoints Foley as consultant. Foley appoints himself as Co-manager. He quits as co-manager (unclear if he’s still special consultant or not). The Board of Directors (who haven’t been involved in any of these other policy decisions) debate bringing in Austin as co-manager. Vince is able to argue in front of board. They appoint him as co-manager. He declines unless he’s made sheriff. So he’s made sheriff (not clear if co-manager and sheriff as he apparently can still make matches). What the Fuck? Is there Wrestling in Cuba? I think Communist State run wrestling would have less inept corrupt multiple layers of bureaucracy than this shitty company. And people buy stock in them? Unless the Board of Directors turn out to be Ivan Koloff and Scicluna this makes no sense.

PAS: Jesus, Micheals v. HHH really should be main eventing Beijing not the Royal Rumble.

TKG: Michaels, Austin and Helmsley’s long in ring mic segment did really feel like I was watching current Steve Williams booked IWA Japan.

That sums up my feelings on Raw as a whole.
