Yeah I haven't done one of these in a while. Found the IWRG Comcast on demand last week instead. But ended up reading Meltz's really positive reviews of a shitty match and kind of felt obligated to do this again or something. And well its MLK's birthday so I was hpoping Vince would make someone coon again. Unfortunately all he could come up with this year was race baiting Arabs and a pointless mulato vs. dark skinned guy feud that didn't involve either guy surrounded by step dancing cast members of School Daze. Vince is loosing his touch.

TKG: FUCK!!! No new IWRG on Comcast!!! So I guess I'm writing about this shit.

WHAT WORKED:

TKG: I love when they make the over 6 ft. Coach deliver interviews while squatting so that Michaels can look tall. Really for a fed that doesn't pay attention to details anymore, this is the one detail they always remember.

TKG: Batista vs. Viscera was good but really too short. I've enjoyed Batista but he's been good as monster vs. smaller worker and yet to really show me that he can do the monster vs. monster match well. This is the closest he's come to doing it and it was pretty choice although Viscera needed to get some more stuff off, the Kapo kick etc. I really liked the two guys fighting for Irish whip spot. Not up there with Mark Henry vs. Goldberg...but it said to me that these two if given time might have that or better in them.

PAS: Yeah this is probably too short to keep Viscera's MOTW streak alive. I am with Tom on this needing more time, no reason Vis shouldn't have hit his spin kick, that might have gotten the crowd into his control sections more. I really like how they are using Viscera as this wall that needs to be climbed. He really should get some TV wins so when he gets beat it will mean more. Once the Kane v. Snitsky feud is over, they should feed both of them to Viscera for short squashes.

TKG: LETS GO CHRIS!!! Thank God the Canadian audience seems to be the only audience left that hasn't been ruined by Schneider's influence as there were no dueling chants. The face Canadian vs. face Canadian guaranteed to hurt the heat of this match but still really good. Ross oversold it as being more violent than it actually was and by claiming it was going to be catch as catch can. Jericho for once didn't have to work like a Backseat boy just running through his Dream Sequence and instead worked an actual match. And holy fuck its a clean finish. I didn't expect that. I was hoping for the NJ post handshake face slaps of respect but I'll take the handshake.

PAS: Yeah this was really good, I liked both guys busting each other open hardway, and the nifty counter stuff they were doing, which didn't look like dance steps, like most indy counter sections. I was shocked this didn't get turned into a tag against Hassan and Davari. Although this was really meaningless, really placed like an Styles v. Daniels match on a 3PW card, no point to the match, worked to get some claps, and meaningless compared to Gary Wolfe v. Roadkill main eventing. At least Benoit and Jericho got payed.

TKG: I think Gary Wolfe was one of the guys who had too much pride to work for free. That whole 3PW thing is crazy. Meanie and Jasmine St Claire have broken up but are still friends? What does that mean when Jasmine St Claire says "lets just be friends"? I mean I've seen what she does with strangers. Does "just friends" mean no kissing or just no ass to mouth?

WHAT DIDN'T WORK:

TKG: Wow was that a meaningless six man. Benjamin beat Maven twice in one night and then once more the following day. Why are they still feuding? Its' shame they didn't release Conway and Ace as they'd be better used as Nuevo Gaijins vs. Olds School Gaijins in Baba Memorial fed. Is Jeff Farmer still wrestling? Shane vs. him would be better use of talent also.

TKG: AW was that an awful HBK match. Just don't use the fucker in Canada. I mean you shouldn't be using him at all but still no need for him to work there. I mean that useless red haired girl has better mic skills and actually is semi over plus you're paying her a quarter mill..But instead your using this long haired diva reject? The match begins in progress during a both guys down ten count after a two minute commercial break. They wore each other down so hard in the opening two minutes for them to be in both guys down ten count section?? In two minutes. Were they doing AJ dueling headrops in the opening seconds? So I read on the internet that Flair tried to put Michaels over on the mic pre a HBK/Orton vs. Batista/Flair tag match in Canada. My first reaction was "Wow Flair is dumb, this is a houseshow. He could have just worked this as a Flair/Batista face vs. Orton/ HBK heel team. Orton is a better heel than face and both Batista and Flair get face heat at this point". Well it turns out Flair was actually smart because apparently HBK physically can't work heel. Doesn't know how. As this was just a long masturbatory exercise where HBK went over three guys in a match built around lots of spots where HBK hulks up in submissions. Russo being David Flair's father wasn't as masturbatory. Quinones standing above David Flair's bed might have been, but Russo as David's dad wasn't.

PAS: Micheals working a match entirely made up of hulking up from chinlocks in front of a crowd which hated him, was hysterical. Hell his faith isn't in the fans anyway, it is in Christ.

TKG: They try to turn Kane heel by having him attack Stratus? What was the point of that? Aw fuck that section wasn't half as pointless as the match itself.

PAS: I did the wave during this too.

Courtesy of Mike Johnson at PWInsider.com: I personally think this could be a very big step in getting TNA to that next level. It almosts harkens memories from the old "Clash of the Champions" days.
