HTM held it for a year and a half. A YEAR AND A HALF!

I remember The Honky Tonk Man's reign, and I do remember people HATING that he had the title and wanting him to die if it meant he's finally lose it. I don't remember anyone hating that Triple H has the title though. There seems to be more apathy to his character than anything else at this point. Of course, since Vince is a genius (Ask his employees) he's spent the last year building up guys to mix around the main event the way he used to with Rock, Austin, Foley, Triple H, Undertaker, and others... OH SHIT! NO HE HASN'T!!!

Triple H's character is simply dull at this point. Heyman said he's not sure what a booker can to do with a character that's 4-5 years old when talking about Austin, apparently it goes for others as well.

Of course, the show in general should be put out of it's misery soon. J.R. and Lawler are absolutely the worst two announcers outside of most indy shows (and I used to love them, but how many more times a show do I have to hear "educated feet" or "puppies"? Shit, these guys are boring too. Am I the only one here who was SCREAMING for WCW to get rid of Tony S. because he was old and out of touch with even the 40 year olds?). The booking is made to make sure that NOTHING HAPPENS. The entire series is running in neutral. I understand that when one guy beats another, they want to have them give the win back out of some fear of someone looking better than someone else, but does it have to be fucking back to back shows?

Remember when you HAD to watch RAW to see what Austin was going to do to McMahon? Or what Bret Hart would say about The US? Now they announce the main event of the show is RVD against Shawn Michaels, and every living person on the planet with an IQ higher than bread knew how that match would end.

I think the fans were pretty happy with his win at Survivor Series. It's sounded to me that HBK is pretty over. HBK has been wrestling full time again around a month.

Not to beat a dead horse, but ::pulls out bat::

1) HTM wasn't sleeping w/ the bosses daughter, who also happens to be a head writer.

2) Hogan was pretty over when he came back, too, but putting the belt on him wasn't exactly a good choice.

3) HBK wrestling full-time? He's had *1* match since the last PPV, which has been his *only* match on free TV since his return.

Matthew: You would've loved it, David. A week in a foreign country, strange people, strange customs...
Dave: Oh, I know what you mean. I've been to Canada.

I think this thread has the highest character-to-post ration I've ever seen.

It's like every stinking post is 18 miles long. Sheesh.

Honkey Tonk Man did refuse to job the belt to Savage, however, shortly after winning it, just to add a point to those in favor of the comparison. Makes you wonder just how he managed to get the power to veto a loss to one of the top guys in the company. *glances towards Pat Patterson*

For now what pain I do suffer for watching Raw (which by the way as I posted earlier I thought was rather good) That can be fixed with the new EW:R game :-P

Actually, it was in the late winter/early spring of '88 when Honky threatened to go work for Jim Crockett and bring the I-C title with him to NWA/WCW (I wonder if Honky realized that Jim really had no money at that point). This was about 8 months after the upset of the century when he beat Steamboat for the title in late spring '87.

Yes, HTM probably would have never had the IC Title if Ricky Steamboat hadn't asked for some time off to be with his family. HTM was just at the right place at the right time when Steamboat asked for his time off.

That's how the story goes...Vince was actually going to give the strap to Butch Reed (if I remember my story correctly), but couldn't find him. He was walking by Honky and said something to the effect of "hey, want to be IC Champ?"

Honky did threaten to jump to the other side with the IC belt if he had to job to Savage. I believe it was around the Main Event show on NBC when Earl Hebner was introduced.

HAHAHA. Gotta love it. Haven't seen a 5 page thread in ages. Ya want to really get jaded smarts talking. Just say anything good about Raw or even the HTM and watch the fur fly.

Pardon the interruption. I'm off to start another HHH SUX thread.

I think Butch was trying to figure out whether he was a blonde or a brunette that day. Luckily Vince didn't walk into Hercules Hernandez that night, or else the Mighty Hercules could have had the lengthy I-C title reign. But, why, why god, couldn't it have been Iron Mike Sharpe who came out that night and received the classic year plus I-C Title reign.
