I can never eliminate anyone in the over the top rope battle royals or Royle Rumble match. I irish whip people but they never go over the top rope. What is the trick to this type of match?

and thats all i have to say about that!

After you throw them over, you'll see that they just stand there for a bit on the ring apron. You then have move close to them and hit your grapple button again to grab them and attempt to push them out by button mashing until their ring-out meter is empty.

Some "heavyweight" wrestlers such as Batista and Big Show have a grapple where they lift the wrestler up over their head and you can then walk around with them that way and throw them out immediately, but I haven't figured out what that grapple is even though I've done it on a few occasions. Anybody have an idea on that one?

If you irish whip all they will do as you know will bounce over them. Try grappling when you are close to the ropes and then throwing them over the top rope. Alternately when you thorw them against the ropes, before they bounce back off the ropes, punch or kick them right before the bounce off to knock them over the top

I'm Renegade Raine and I approve this message:

"- Eliminating via Weight Indicator
This is a plus for super heavyweight wrestlers. They have the ability
to throw opponent off the top ropes using an overhead powerslam
instantly ignore the damage and ringout indicator. To get this
situation, you must get your opponent into a groggy situation
(the toe kick is extremely useful) and perform a signature grapple
(left + O). Instead of locking up arms in a signature grapple, the
wrestler will perform an overhead powerslam. With that, you can move
closer to the ropes and hit O to throw your opponent off the top
ropes thus eliminating him! You can only be stopped if a wrestler
attacks your wrestler or attempts to grapple. That's why people says
these guys are extremely useful to challenge the royal rumble!"

Wasn't intending to post here, but I am on a bit of a binge today with them, and I've been playing the game today to try and see if I could find anything about this question.

Size differential is one aspect (Heavyweight has an easier time against a cruiserweight, than a super heavyweight, at least that's what I've seen while playing), though a Wrestler's Power(or strength or whatever) attribute also applies. Another is how beat up the person is, a fresh guy is pretty hard to push out of the ring. If another person helps you shove someone off that really helps too, and will let you shove out a fresh guy pretty quick. Last bit, using strikes (X button and whatever direction or not) doesn't impact the bar, and it seems as though the guy on the outside of the ropes is only there for a limited time, similar to how long a wrestler is on the ground after an attack, or how long they are groggy, which is directly impacted by how much damage they've suffered.

I've got many character flaws, humility isn't one.

Striking does help I recall, a few times I was able to bludgeon another char of the apron even when his meter wasn't depleted (playing with Andre of Big Show)

Though the meter is fun, it seems that I am screwed the moment I land on the outside. I cannot find out if there is a secret combo or whatever (mash buttons doesnt work) to push to make sure my meter isn't emptied for at least 30 %..
I know you can fill it up by eliminating others but I wish it wouldn't empty so easily.
As a result I cannot get past the 'win the rumble as #1 guy' challenge

Other than that..great game ;)

*sigh* Why bother?

Mashing buttons is all that there is to it. The best way is to put one thumb on each button and go back and forth. The second you see your guy get thrown over the top, just start going back and forth as fast as possible.

As far as filling up your meter. I stay away from EVERYONE until I see someone trying to push someone else over, then I go and help. It gets rid of someone, plus I get my meter partially filled. Just be sure to hit the 'strike' button the second you finish throwing the guy over, or else you'll get grappled by the guy you were just helping.

Also, if you have a "Special" or a "SmackDown!" or whatever TPTB have deigned to call it, you can fire it off to roll back in the ring even if you're on the outside an being grappled.

Three words for this Dilemma:

Andre The Giant.

Aparently he is a seperate weight class unto himself: Ultra Heavyweight. As such when signaturing grappling on people in a Rumble, he'll lift everyone but Super Heavyweights I believe. So chuck everyone else out with impunity.

Note: This what a long boring Sunday will result it much gameplaying.
