I've got to be honest, I enjoyed this RAW way more than any RAW since before Wrestlemania. I thought Legacy looked the best they have looked since the HHH started feuding with them (before Wrestlemania as well). This show was a nice chance to sample all 3 brands side by side, and I really think Smackdown was head and shoulders the most entertaining part of the show. The ECW stuff even seemed fresher and more interesting than the RAW stuff. The Hart Dynasty is being booked like Legacy should have been.

The Trump stuff is not for everyone, and as predicted in this thread will probably lead to a Summer Slam match, but at least it was out of left field and should lead to some kind of fresh storyline.

The HHH vs Orton feud is just falling off a cliff. Here's the sum of it since HHH first got his "revenge" at Wrestlemania:
1.HHH (and friends)repeatedly annihilate Legacy.
2.Legacy does some stupid BS to injure someone (usually with a punt, and Lord knows there haven't been enough of those in this already overdrawn feud) after taking 95% of the punishment during a given match/segment
3.HHH gets the red, wrinkly tomato face and breathes heavy.
4.Goto line 1 and repeat as necessary.

Also, how come Vince isn't involved in the story line anymore? Didn't Legacy seriously injure him and his entire family? He was more pissed when DX destroyed his limo!

Not a bad Raw at as the World Heavyweight Title match between Edge, Jeff Hardy, and CM Punk was a really good match.

I can't say I am too surprised about Trump being "owner" of Raw. Vince McMahon did this to create a marketing blitz and the Donald Trump being in charge of Raw shouldn't last too long because Trump isn't a logical choice based on the reality he does not know as much about wrestling compared to other people.

I did like Matt Striker's comment though of who he thought would be owner of Raw; "What about Barak Obama? He owns everything else." That gave me a quick laugh.

I can't say I am surprised by Trips winning the 10 man Battle Royal. But the WWE is going to continue the feud with Triple H and Orton.

Hopefully he doesn't name Celebrity Apprentice winner Joan Rivers as the new GM. Ugh.

agree 100 percent. Big Show was way more talented than Andre the Giant ever was. The reason Show will never be remembered like Andre was is because Show had to job & sell to almost everyone during his career, while Andre never had to except at Wrestlemania 3.

Actually... that could work. I mean hell, it'd get me watching the show again. It would be a train wreck of epic proportions and I think she'd have a lot of fun and be amusing to watch.

Yeah, I loved that. Mentioning how far he went to play mindgames with people.
I always had (have) a weak spot for him, especially when he doesn't just play the goof, but has a more serious and threatening side to him.

I don't know about that. Andre was really awesome (and scary!) in his prime.

I agree that they should have done a better job with Show over the years - everytime they make him THE MONSTER, he ends up on the wrong end of a FU - and he is great for his size, but I'd never lay the badmouth to Andre, even based on his end of days condition during the WM3, going forward, period

Andre also had the advantage to be a major attraction wherever he went. He seemed to be pretty smart when it came to booking himself as well. During his time, he was out of most title pictures and wrestled in specialty matches. He was not as over-exposed as he could have been. He was also one of a kind for the most part. Big Show is in the unfortunate position of being around when a big guys are not that rare and having to deal with a company that tends to book in ways that are both good and bad for him. He doesn't have the leverage like Andre where people line-up for Andre, people line-up for Cena, Edge, Rey and so on.

WCW did a better job of keeping the Big Show's monster status intact than the WWE which has jerked him and his character around a couple of times a year. It didn't help that the Undertaker already had unstoppable bigman status in the company and Kane had Big John Studd level of protection, leaving Big Show with the role of King Kong Bundy. You would think that with Vince's love of the big man that Show would have had a more dominant run rather than a spotty showing, but The Big Show always seemed to have his best runs as a monster when under Heyman's wing.

Just thought I would mention Eric Bischoff reviewed this Raw - which he hasn't done in some years. He has a pretty good idea about the whole Trump thing and he missed Gail Kim.

I also found this bit ironic:

3 hours of anything is a long time.

Did I actually hear someone say “more better” in commentary? 3 hours of this is a really long time.

It's interesting to see him rail against clusterfucks, when his Nitros ended that way for a good 3 years straight.

I found a blurb on IMDB.com to a studiobreifing.net article about this past Raw. Apparently, some investors sold their stock based on Trump and WWE's press release of the "sale."

TRUMP-MCMAHON DEAL A HOAX, WWE ADMITS

    Friday, June 19, 2009

Demonstrating that there’s not much that can be believed in the wide world of wrestling, USA Network and Vince McMahon’s WWE acknowledged Thursday that an announcement that they had mutually released to the press last Tuesday saying that McMahon had sold Donald Trump his RAW franchise had no basis in fact. “We intended the release to be promotional for that ongoing story arc on the series. There is no such actual ‘sale,” the statement said. Neither the press, nor WWE investors, got the joke. A report of the sale was carried by numerous news outlets and spurred some WWE investors to sell their stock. Although Thursday’s statement ended with an apology “for any confusion,” a WWE spokesman sounded unapologetic when he told Daily Variety, “We do scripted entertainment.”

"Mr. McMahon? Securities and Exchange Commission on line 2."

Heh.

Double Heh for people panic selling at the thought of Trump actually taking over.

Triple Heh for a blurb in my Sunday paper hinting that this storyline is part of a deal between Trump and Vince where they will promote MMA matches. Anyone able to confirm, refute this? Anyone want to bet on Vince making a successful go of a non-worked sport?

Hyperbole for an announcer is a good thing. It doesn't have to be to Tony Schiavone levels, but if the announcer is telling you that what's happening in the ring is important, then you become more invested in it.
