On behalf of the entire internet we all promise to refrain from overused jokes about Nash's hair and injuries if he promises to refrain from glacial-paced plodding matches that work as cures for insomnia. I mean, why should we give up the only thing that's amusing about Big Lazy (HEY! It's another cliched nickname! Maybe I'll use one for every move in Nash's moveset!) just because it's been said before. It's not like Big Poochie (I did it, one nickname per move!) is giving up that framing elbow upon his comeback is he?

I think the most telling thing about Raw was mentioned by one of the people I was with when he said "You know you have a problem when Trish and Jazz are your second most interesting thing on Raw." I love the women's feud, but that really speaks to what a cluster the midcard has become, and is about to get even messier once HHH dispenses of Booker and HBK dispenses of Jericho.

On the positive side, Trish took her busted mouth like a trooper. The big red X on Austin in the opening was brilliant. Rock going "nah" was priceless. This show is going to drag something fierce though once we get to May and your topcard consists of HHH, Goldberg, Nash and HBK.

(edited because the internet also needs to refrain from horribly spelled posts!)

Nash has wrestled for a little over 10 years, and he's had over 20 surgeries on his legs.

And how many of those were caused from wrestling? Most of them occurred prior to wrestling, leaving him to quit basketball and persue a life in the ring.

What's that I smell???

Mark??? Is that you????

I know he lost the biggest match already, but Jericho went through the same thing before he got his title run. He couldn't win the big one and then he finally did. I think this is where they're going with Booker. I believe he's the only one to go over HHH on Raw since he's turned back heel. And Book's beat him multiple times. That's saying something. I really feel like it will pay off for Booker and he will win that title soon.

And when Jericho DID win, what happened? He beat Rock and Austin on the same night to unify two World Titles and he still wasn't over. All he did was serve as a transitional champ to get the belt on HHH at WM18. They had to bring in Stephanie's dog crapping on the floor to make that match interesting. And it still wasn't.

Jericho is in no better position today than he was 2/3 years ago. He was feuding with the likes of HHH, Austin, and Rock two years ago over the WWF Title, too. Winning the belt didn't change anything.

Admittedly, the Jericho/HBK feud is helping him elevate himself, but this is coming a year after he already won the Undisputed Title.

Booker T's win last night was as meaningless as that other tag match he won before WM. It's not like it was a title match at WrestleMania or anything.

Santa Sangre: Both Kane and RVD have gone over HHH post heel turn on RAW.

SLOKAZOID: Um, whats your point? You say giving Jericho the belt and putting him over big names did nothing for him. So why are you upset that Booker didn't win at WM given that winning the belt wouldnt change anything?

My point was that Santa Sarge was making a comparison to what happened to Booker T and used Jericho as an example for how things get better. In WWE's current system, things don't get better and won't for neither Booker T nor Jericho.

However, there is a difference between winning the title at WrestleMania and losing the title at WrestleMania, because WrestleMania is the event that signifies the end of the previous year's story arcs and is usually a good indicator of who got the "last laugh." Both Booker and Jericho lost title matches at WrestleMania, so really, they're in the same situation treading water.

People are talking about how Nash just walked to the ring, but he didn't. He actually had a pretty pronounced limp. If this is "healthy" Nash, and he limps when he walks, how long do they possibly think he's going to be able to work? I don't hate Nash, and I don't want to see him take another bad injury. But if they keep him in the ring, that's exactly what's going to happen.

You want proof that Booker's pin on Triple H last night was meaningless? He completely disappeared in the last minutes of the show after getting it -- the image they gave us to take away at the end was Nash, HBK, and Triple H facing off. We've already seen this last year leading up to Survivor Series, when RVD or Booker or Kane would get a pin in the main event and then vanish into hyperspace so the cameras could focus on the *real* stars, HBK and Triple H. It didn't do anything for them then, and it won't do anything for Booker now.

I just got the feeling they had too much to fit into one match. They had the history between Booker and HHH, the history between HHH and Jericho, the history between HHH and HBK, the history between HBK and Jericho, the history between HBK and Nash and the history between Nash and HHH.

That's a lost of history. At the end of the day somebody was always going to be left out of the spotlight at the end, but giving Booker the pin (on HHH no less) at least partly made up for it being he that missed out.

Edit: My, punctuation. is; frankly appalling?

Raw was kinda...there tonight. Besides, I was more interested in the basketball game, and watched the show via TiVo later. God bless TiVo.

I only have one question regarding RAW, though: Where can I get one of those SWEET Fat Albert jumpsuits that Rodney Mack was wearing?

Just chiming in on Trish tonight, who vaulted up to #2 on my list last night (just behind Molly of course). Normally, I think she looks a bit trashy, but she looked great last night, even when she was bleeding from the mouth. But, she killed all that after she kissed Jeff Hardy. Ick.

That comment is so ridiculously stupid I don't think it deserves to be recognized, but if you honestly think Jericho beating The Rock and Austin numerous times didn't help him in the eyes of the fans, you are a ragingly blind internet smark.

""Hey Book, Jericho. Y'all just move along down to the midcard, now. We have real stars now, nothing to see here..."

"But the fans like us..."

"Fuck no, they don't. They want Nash!"

"But we get more heat than him..."

"You lie. Look, we've got great programs lined up for you guys. Chris, you're going to wrestle Scott Steiner. He'll make you look great. The fans love him."

"Wha...?"

"Booker, you're going to feud with Test. He's going to be over whether anyone likes it or not."

"Test? How long are you going to push that guy?"

"As long as it takes. Go on, now...""

Okay, people, in addition to the Kevin Nash hair jokes...please stop doing this. It's just not funny.

It is inconcievable for guys like The Rock, Triple H, and the Undertaker to move down to the midcard at any point during the year and be seen as anything more than superstars and main eventers. While UT does work the occasional midcard angle, he clearly coms off as being a level above his opponents. When The Rock was in there with Jeff Hardy last night, it was easy to tell who was going to easily pull off a win. Those three are clearly a step above the rest on the WWE hierarchy.

The line wasn't, and still isn't so clear with Chris Jericho and Booker T when they work midcard matches. Chris Jericho went from main eventing WrestleMania X8 to being a tag champ on RAW and stuck feuding with Booker T & Goldust or something. I forget what, because it wasn't important. Either way, Jericho blended into the role of a midcard tag team champion just as well as RVD is right now, despite having a huge following. Maybe Jericho is a little bit ahead of RVD right now, because the HBK feud is helping, but he's clearly below HHH, Rock, and Undertaker.

It was like this for Jericho three years ago, too. He worked big PPV matches, but was still percieved as someone who wasn't big enough to be worked into the central storylines.

I didn't say the Austin & Rock wins didn't help Jericho at all, I'm just saying that they didn't change anything in the big picture. Even after being in the main event of WMX8, Jericho was right back down to the midcard doing nothing in particular. It's because he wasn't percieved as having enough value to be included in main event angles.

I should probably address other parts of RAW while I'm posting in this thread: overall, I was somehow captivated during the entire show. I thought Goldberg came off weak, especially since he was dressed to look like 8-Ball from the DoA, and Rock once again helped a midcarder like Christian to get over. It's amazing how talented Christian is, yet can't do anything interesting until The Rock takes some time out for him.

When "Theme from Roseanne" hit, and Kevin Nash walked out, I'll admit that I was more disappointed than I would have been had he actually had the jet black hair and been Diesel. I thought they could have gone somewhere with that.

Other than that, I'm interested to see where things are going right now, so that's a good first step.

Pretty slow in the first hour, picked up in the second. I'm not gonna say a word about Kev. Except that if I have to see a World Title feud betwixt him and Hunter, I'll start handing out my flyer to Nowinski. Speaking of Nowinski, I don't remember everything he said in his promo last night, but I really thought it was good. There was a lot of accuracy in it, I felt. Uh, The Rock was his usual self, and Trish really continues to impress me. Kissing Jeff Hardy is the stuff that brings about dry heaves. Of course, the REAL highlight of the night was Victoria, searching for her lost love. "Has anybody seen my belt?" Go ask Trish, she saw it last. Loved that, and the red highlights in her hair look excellent. I guess that's all. I spent most of that show thinking what it would be like if all the guys over 35 weren't on the roster.
