Did anyone catch JR's comment about ass cream during the Goldust/Rico match? Maybe I just heard something,, but I thought he asked whether or not it was Gerwitz brand Ass Cream. I dunno. If I'm just buggin' let me know. I'm kinda' medicated at the moment. If, however, I'm NOT out of my mind, would someone please confirm what I thought I heard?

I think tonight's RAW had the potential to lay some real decent groundwork for programs leading up to WrestleMania. I swear I see a Y2J/Christian feud eventually (even if it doesn't culminate at WM). Also too, did it seem pretty apparent that WWE was trying to make overtures to past stars as far as burying the hatchet, ala Steve Austin and Bret Hart?

In my opinion (like it really means much), maybe it IS time that WWE just drop the pettiness of old feuds and grudges and just let us fans have what we want. I mean, doesn't that translate to money making potential? Isn't that the point? So c'mon Vince & company--

WAIT. I can save this for another thread.
I really had no outstanding problems with RAW this week, and the lack of HHH dominating the show helped, because when he came out toward the end, his presence actually meant something.

Jericho may have been on a bit more than planned tonight due to Booker T being sick as well. It seems like his illness was very last minute, and that would leave probably at least 10-15 minutes to fill.

If you believed Triple H when he said RVD wasn't going to get buried for that errant frog splash at Survivor Series, feel free to look in the mirror and call yourselves a SUCKAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

Looks like Armageddon's main event is shaping up to be HBK/HHH again. Back to Midcard Hell for you, Rob!

I have a quick theory about Test's finisher no longer being called the Test Drive which I'd like to bounce off of y'all:

I wonder if someone decided that there were more than enough finisher names that were a pun on the name of the wrestler. Enough moves called "Eye of The Hurricane" and "Rings of Saturn" and "Rock Bottom" and "Test Drive." Perhaps they decided it was silly and cartoonish.

Maybe I'm goofy, but it seems like there have been a bunch of moves lately that COULD have been a pun off of the the wrestler's name, but they didn't go that way -- I mean "Brockbuster" was staring them in the FACE, I'm SURE it must've come up in a meeting somewhere along the way. Rey's finishers are notable, too, in that they don't incorporate any part of his name, and even Victoria's finisher could have been called the Victory Bomb or The Smell of Victory or something and wasn't.

I dunno. It's just a theory. Maybe it's just that no one told JR what the move's called.

Random Raw Thoughts:

Some of Y2J and Christian's lines were funny. I could care less about ASS Cream, though.

Victoria-Trish was pretty good.

Who has worse hair, Carmela from The Sopranos, or Shawn Michaels?

Batista pinned Kane! Yes!!!!!

I hope that's not the end of the Maven-Harvard Chris feud.

RNN was funny.

HBK-RVD was alright. Of course HHH had to interfere in the end. Some of the fans popped for that, though.

Overall, I guess Raw was alright, not as good as Smackdown, though.

STOP JOBBING HELMS!!! Especially when they're trying to push Test, of all people.

I'm down with Batista beating Kane, but I'm not down with making it look like a lucky win with the Flair interference and the chair shot. Way to build up the guy ::rolls eyes::

Other than that, Raw was nothing special.

Break It Down:
Jericho/Christian vs. Dudleys: I was waiting for this match to happen, and I was *so* sure that they'd put the straps on the Dudleys. I'm guessing that's still the plan, but you never know with the WWE. As far as the insta-feud, I think it rocks. The fans care about the Dudleys, and they hate Jericho and Christian. Simple, yet straight to the point. I'm still scratching my head on why Morley didn't come out for a 3rd time after the belt shot, but then I guess the tag match would have lasted forever. The ass cream bit was funny in a Rock sort of way. I too can see a Jericho/Christian feud down the line. Other thing I noticed, was that they kept running into all the other tag teams back stage. 3MW(who actually came off as something more than goofs), Regal/Storm watching the monitor, and of course their match/angle with the Dudleys. Maybe a 4 way match for Armageddon is in the works?

Test continues to improve, and his new finisher is sweet. *Nobody*'s gonna get up from that. Victoria's doing her job as a complete psycho. Her match with Trish also ruled. It was physical, it had spots, and it got a decent amount of time. After the match I thought, "Damn, this was just like a men's match". Victoria's Gory Special Neckbreaker thingy is gold, as well. Burying Trish? After that? Not even a guy would kick out of that, muchless Trish. Awesome.

Regal and Storm looked *really* good tonight, and if they pull the trigger on the Horsemen, it'll be (say it with me) sweet. Regal was the most motivated I've seen him in a long time. He left his snobby self at home and brought back Regal the ass kicker. Also, Storm ditched the Straightshooter halfway through the match and then went for a *perfect* Sharpshooter. I really hope he keeps that as a finisher. These guys need a shot at tag gold, which I think is coming sooner rather than later.

Batista looked good as well, and now has the full managerial(sp?) services of Flair. I still smell Horsemen, I'm tellin ya.

HBK vs. RVD rocked the house until HHH stuck his nose in where it didn't belong. I'm sure this is setting up a TripleThreat match at the PPV, but didn't we just have a multi-way World Title match? *shrugs* Oh well.

All in all a really good, solid show. Not outstanding, but very very solid.

Well, let's see, perfectly good Raw, could have done without that DQ finish to the main event(which stemmed from Triple H not wanting RVD to beat Shawn Michaels, seeing as how he himself couldn't accomplish that)...I wonder what other people thought of the show?

(reads several online recaps...summary of them is along the lines of:

"Well, this show hasn't been too bad, main event has been decent, five-star frog splash and HAHAHAHAHA! LOOK! IT'S TRIPLE H! HAHAHAHAHA! YEAH! Pedigree on the floor! You show that overachieving midcarder how a REAL main-eventer works the WWE style! I changed my mind, this show sucked."

Never mind.)

All in all, RAW was perdee damn good. Victoria is going to be a big star if she's pushed right. It'd kinda be cool to see a returning Jazz as a face, and let the two do their best to light a crowd up.

RAW totally was gauging the fans response to Austin. After watching some of the lackluster and god awful crap on RAW lately, seeing that classic clip gave me some hope on where this product will be.

Jehrico rocks, and I think his heel status will finally pay itself off. And letting the world know he is not a suckerrrr is cool--anyone giving props to Booker T is cool.

HHH comes back at the end. Made sense, but HHH/HBK -- AGAIN?! Guud GAWD almighty, Armageddon will be boring in half!! (?)

Jesus Christ.

Fuck HHH. I was never so pissed off as when RAW ended last night.

Last week we get a big three way dance to get a #1 contender for the championship (one in which Jericho gets buried by Poppa Pump, no less).

RVD wins and they hype the match all week long, including blasting us with constant visuals and over the top commentary from JR and Lawler throughout the show itself.

What do we get? A bullshit screwjob that sticks HHH right in front of the camera and putws RVD right back in his "place."

GOD FORBID they do something radical like put the belt on someone other than HHH or one of his friends. GOD FORBID HHH or HBK job to anyone else. GOD FORBID the WWE actually end a massively hyped title match without some sort of screwjob run-in.

GOD FORBID...

Oh, wait.

I should say "HHH FORBID" because, after all, he is God.

RAW sucks week after week...and I haven't even started on the "Ass Cream" idiocy yet.

I've clearly misunderstood the term 'buried' up till now. I didnt realise it meant main eventing RAW and winning a no.1 contenders match one week, then only missing out on the title in the following weeks main event cos of interference.

Of course the fight was going to end in a DQ. they ain't gonna give you this one for free. Triple H was gonna run in cos frankly thats what deposed heel champions do, especially if they hate one of the people involved as much as HHH is meant to hate HBK.

If anyones been buried post-Survivor Series its been Kane. but I guess it wouldnt be the cool thing to mention that what with it not being as easy to blame that on HHH eh?

If I'm wrong and Robs involved in some meaningless tag match come Armageddon then feel free to come back and demand an apology. My money says he's more than likely gonna be main eventing though.

spiff.. i'm not really clear on what your issue is with the kane-batista match. after a simple chairshot (which we all know kane can do the "zombie situp (r)CRZ" from and not even feel), he is promptly powerbombed by batista and loses. of course batista needed interference to win; he's the heel. heels win by cheating; that's what makes them heels. i know that hasn't been happening across the board lately, but it IS one of those fundamentals of pro wrestling. i mean, if batista had won over kane clean, the feud would have to be over; batista is then clearly superior to kane without quetion. but with the flair assist, the feud has reason to continue.

If they made Brock's finisher the Brockbuster, it would have sounded alot like the Marcus Alexander Bagwell finisher the Blockbuster. And if there is one wrestler the WWF/E would like the fans to completely forget, its the abortion that was the Bagwell main event experience.
Now, onto thoughts from the show.
1) I thought they were going to have Shawn tell RVD that he needed to find God before he slapped him.
2) When they were talking about the Macy's float, they show pictures of Angle and Vince, no mention of either. Trip comes on the screen, and good Ol' JR like a trained seal goes 'There's Triple H.'
3) Why would you have Jericho and Christian showering in the 'face' locker room? Don't they usually push the heels have a locker room, faces have a locker room idea?
4) Do they remember from week to week whether Batista has a first name or not?
5) Is there actually a reason for them turning Test face? Since the haircut, he looks like a taller Brad Armstrong. Sadly, he doesn't have Brad's talent, and he might not even have Brad's charisma.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

of course batista needed interference to win; he's the heel. heels win by cheating; that's what makes them heels

Monster heels destroy people. They don't need interference to win. It seems like they want to build up Batista as a monster, and he certainly has the look for it, so winning by interference is counter-productive to that end.

Of course, I'm ignoring the fact that HHH is the only heel that ever gets to look strong.

Um, ignoring the fact that HHH's last clean wins were against Jeff 'Blownspot' Hardy and Spike Dudley, I assume the rise of a ceratin heel by the name of Brock Lesnar didnt pass you by altogether?

I think you can mention Kane's being buried while blaming HHH at the same time. During Kane's last major feud vs. Triple H, he was portrayed as a drunken, necrophilliac, murderer. He looked stupid every segment and never got his revenge on Triple H. He was punked out by Triple H and his character was ruined. Now he is getting buried, because he couldn't get over. Makes sense to me.

Really, the only thing that made me uncomfortable was Vickie's terrible acting. Edge was totally convincing playing a gigolo, but Vickie's just plain not good enough for any story-driven segments.
