It seemed like a hot crowd to start the show, but bad Raws can ruin that.

I'm sure if we went back and reviewed every daffy decision by the Anonymous RAW General Manager we'd find it even more illogical that Hornswoggle could be it...

But frankly, I don't care enough to do the research.

No, No! If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. The GM went anonymous because of the Nexus attack on the last GM. If Bret Hart couldn't survive that, what hope does Hornswoggle have? Also, this occurred before Santa gave Hornswoggle the ability to speak, so he would need to type out his instructions and have a mouthpiece. Finally, let us not forget that Hornswoggle is Vince's son, so of course he gets a sweet job and is protected from revealing himself and protected for getting fired! It all comes together!

I know how completely absurd that opening segment was, but considering who was in it, and Punk's multitude of emoting and eye-rolling, I was entertained by it.

75% of viewers wanted another Cole/Lawler match? Really?? Then again, what would Booker have done after flying all the way to Denver? (Oh that's right, it was a double-taping and they did SD! last night too.)

As lame as it is, Hornswoggle is one of the few choices which wouldn't result in any contradictory continuity issues vis a vis the anonymous GM.

I left after AJ/Punk/Bryan and figured the facial expressions alone were the best we were going to get in an Anonymous GM Raw. Hornswoggle? Ok, whatever.

Hornswoggle has been known to be a troublemaker, usually being chaotic good. As mentioned by someone else, he also had that time where he emulated superstars. There's not a stretch to think that he transitioned to chaotic neutral and just wanted to cause general mayhem. Any perceived inconsistencies can be chalked up to "chaotic neutrals gonna chaotic". As for why be anonymous? When this angle first started he couldn't even talk, he needed to communicate somehow, right?

Of the choices around for Mystery RAW GM, he was actually a great one.

Overall show was still terrible, except for the AJ/Bryan/Punk situation. I anticipate Smackdown bombing too, and Ryder getting blamed for it despite that THIS SHOW would have killed the crowd.

PREDICTION I'D LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN:

Show wins MITB, cashes in against Bryan, mirroring how Bryan won the title in the first place.

If the Rock title quest is to continue, I can see him challenging at the next PPV: Summerslam in Los Angeles.

So if both champs leave MITB with their belts, that's Sheamus (eh) or Punk, and a Rock/Punk angle might be NICE if Punk brings back his anti-Rock attitude from 2011. Let's say Del Rio wins at MITB, that makes a one-sided feud with Rock, and something that hovers constantly in the comedy wing of the WWE.

And if someone cashes in their MITB win at the PPV and beats Sheamus/Del Rio or Punk/Bryan, that leaves the field wide open. I can't see Rock beating Cena again (even for the title in Rock's OTHER hometown), but Rock taking the belt off a transitional lucky midcarder (Dolph, let's say) allows Rock to make weeks' worth of Vickie jokes. From the other group, a returning and victorious Miz would be a nice closure to the 2011 Mania main event.

I'm giving this such consideration because last night's show leaves me nothing else to mull over.

You'll have to take my word for it, of course, but the second Santino announced he was going to uncover the mystery of the Anonymous GM, I immediately said it was Hornswoggle. This was based on my quickly crunching the numbers on the complex mathematical equation of [Who is available backstage]+[What would the worst answer be].

The biggest plothole for Hornswoggle as Anonymous GM - if we're going to continue to treat this as a unified angle, and obviously, I am going to treat this as a unified angle - is that we saw Vince initially hire the Anonymous GM over the phone, having a discussion with him. As we know, it wasn't that Hornswoggle was simply afraid to talk in public at that time, it's that he was actually, literally incapable of human speech (despite the efforts of trained professionals to teach him) until he received a magical Christmas wish from Santa Claus that gave him the ability to speak and also made him a racist.

Therefore, we must conclude that either Hornswoggle was communicating to Vince via one of those proxy calling services where he was typing and the operator then delivered his messages, or Finlay was on the phone with Vince, which would seem to be a problem since Finlay and Hornswoggle did try to scam Vince...but then again, perhaps the Nexus attacking Vince under Hornswoggle's orders (November 2010) is why Finlay was fired (March 2011) shortly after Vince came out of his coma (February 2011). My god, it's full of (super)stars.

It's Ken Kennedy, Vince's REAL illegitimate son! That would have been the best reveal last night - Lawler pulling Santino and Hornswoggle partially out from under the ring, Hornswoggle going back under, Lawler pulling them again and only this time it's Kennedy on the other end - except for the parts were Kennedy is back on Raw and annoying and nobody wants to see or hear him and it's weird how Kennedy never wears pants but he'll, like, wear a friggin' baseball cap with his wrestling trunks like he just goes around like that in his normal daily business and it's really weird how the guy just doesn't appear to own actual clothes even by wrestling standards.

I did! Well, "care" isn't the right word. But I feel like I definitively proved that one time that Batista was the only person for whom every Anonymous GM move made sense and fit an actual timeline.

Yeah, I caught that too and thought it was great. Punk/AJ/Bryan should be terrible going by how they usually do these kinds of things and it does, on its surface, seem like a pretty weird angle for a top title feud (though it's not that far off from the Megapowers Explode angle only without having done the Megapowers Form part first), but it's actually working due to everyone involved just going for it. It's also been nice to see them put the Champ and his angle in the top segments for the last few weeks. So no complaints on this front.

Shout out to Jericho for being Mr. Conintuity last night. I'd expect no less from him, of course, but it was still nice to have him both bring up his history with Big Show and address the fact that he hated the Anonymous GM as much as anyone. Since Orton is in limbo, I guess they couldn't do it where Jericho knew who it was and forgot because Orton gave him amnesia, but I'll give Jericho credit and assume they would have done that if they were allowed to mention that Randy Orton exists.

Kane, however, continues to be immune from all continuity. I don't think they bothered to mention that Kane and Jericho have a bad history when they were ticking off the various interfeuds of Raw MITB. And they really, really needed a Kane/Cena segment before they tagged up. Even something as simple as Kane sheepishly saying "Hey man, sorry I tried to kill you and your best friend and tricked you into making you make out with your best friend's girl and made her turn evil and maybe ruined your marriage a few months ago" only to have AJ skip by and Cena shrug and say "Women, right?" and then they could high five each other and stars could explode out of their high five.

Crazy how Backlund is still in shape like that. Liked a certain portion of the crowd stepping in to make sure Backlund got a nice reception, especially after Backlund really seemed to be moved and gave off a genuine "I love you!" at the end. The only unfortunate part of that whole segment is how they had to dance around pointing out who the longest ever title reign belongs to, but that's out of their hands, I guess.

But if you listen to Eve, Punk has been overshadowed by everyone from Cena to Triple H to Brock Lesnar to even AJ in his own angle. How emasculating.

Listen, the marriage proposals and surrounding absurdity was the hardest I've laughed during RAW in a long time so I can't hate the show for that. My bottom line for WWE is always: entertain me, i.e. make me laugh and they did it with one of the weirdest, dumbest things I've seen in forever (that was funny, compared to the weird, dumb reveal about Hornswoggle I haven't given an iota of thought to). And Dr. U is right, everyone involved just goes for it with gusto.

To add to the absurdity, two marriage proposals and no one brought a ring.

Daniel: "It's in the back!"

Plus the #RAW1000 nostalgia rewind was Stephanie discussing her disastrous on-screen wedding to Triple H.

Plus, absurd: Daniel impromptu proposed to AJ (more than once) and is/was presumably willing to marry her over one match where she's the referee.

If there somehow is an AJ related wedding in the near future, I hope Heath Slater is invited to be their (one man) band.

So AJ gets to open and close the show? When was the last time a Diva got that kind of treatment? Lita, maybe, when she was with Edge?

And this storyline is doing a fantastic job of getting AJ over, though I'm not sure how that translates to long-term benefits. She's getting bigger reactions than any Diva in ages, and her character development has been entertaining (though now leaning towards overexposure). Punk and Bryan haven't looked the greatest opposite her, but it hasn't really damaged either of their characters too much. My question is this, though: Can you consider AJ a star in her own right? Are her reactions sustainable outside of this storyline?

And if they are, then she's automatically more relevant than any Diva has been in several years, she's automatically above the Divas Championship. I don't think she's the one to elevate that division. I doubt they can translate her success to a re-emergence of the Divas as a whole. I would be more likely to believe that if anyone can bring the Divas to prominence, it would have to be Kharma and Beth Phoenix. And that would be a minor miracle in itself.

So AJ might be a superstar. To what end?

The cruiserweight division is DEAD, primarily because of 1) the cruisers being used as jobber-fodder for fat asses like Bill Demott, Albert, and Big Show for the past 4 months and 2)
