TONIGHT: Raw was taped earlier today from jolly ol’ London, England. As expected, WWE.com has announced that the John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar match at Extreme Rules is now no-DQ, no count-out. Dot come also reports that CM Punk was spotted in a pub prior to his WWE Championship match with Mark Henry tonight!

-WWE Open.

-RAW Open.

-Many fireworks and lots of excited fans kicked off Raw from the O2 Arena in London, England.

(1) CM Punk vs. Mark Henry – WWE Championship Match, No Count-Out, No-DQ
Michael Cole said it had been nearly a year since the WWE Title changed hands on Raw. Big pop and “CM Punk” chants for Punk, even while his music was playing. Strangely, Mark Henry was already in the ring. They showed Chris Jericho’s attack from two weeks ago during Punk’s entrance. Justin Roberts performed formal ring introductions. Cole referred to the WWE Title as “the most prestigious championship in sports entertainment.”

When the match began, Henry tossed Punk into the corner and started to work him over. Headbutt, then a forearm to the back. Punk kicked at Henry, but then was dropped on the back of his head by the big man. Henry kicked Punk out of the ring. As Henry went out to get him, Punk went back in the ring. He dove at Henry, who stood there like an idiot staring at Punk the entire way, somehow not getting out of the way. However, he was able to regain control outside the ring until Punk ran the barricade and bulldogged Henry down. Punk attempted to pick Henry up off the ringside mats and get him back into the ring, but he struggled. Henry finally rose to his feet and Punk continued kicking Henry in the back, each kick earning a “yes!” chant. Punk dove off the apron (with the fans anticipating it), but Henry caught him and tossed him into the barricade. Henry collapsed from exhaustion and the show went to break at 4:11 of the match.

[Commercial Break]

Back at 7:15 of the match. The crowd was helping Punk to break out of a chin-lock. Henry ran right over Punk. Henry stood on the chest and sternum of Punk, using the ropes for leverage. Punk grabbed a chair from ringside and brought it in. It’s legal, so Punk nailed Henry in the chest and gut with it. Cover got two. Punk went for a third chairshot, but Henry countered with a boot to the mid-section. Henry took the chair and bashed Punk over the back. He placed it between the top and middle turnbuckle but Punk avoided hitting it. Punk came back with the crowd YES’ing along, but Henry again chopped him down. Bearhug applied by Henry. Punk broke free with elbows, chop-blocked Henry, and DDT’d him for two. Punk ascended the top rope and dove at Henry, but Henry caught him. World’s Strongest Slam countered and Punk kicked the big man in the side of his head. Running high knee in the corner, but Henry shrugged off the bulldog. Henry ran at Punk, but his head ended up bouncing off the steel chair he himself set up in the corner. Elbowdrop off the top rope with the chair caught Henry right in the face. Pin and the win was Punk’s.

Winner: Punk, at 13:12. I liked that finish. Match was good as Punk and Henry seem to have some good chemistry.

Chris Jericho came on the Titan-Tron, allegedly from a bar. No word on how the camera crew got there. Jericho said due to his recent domination over Punk, he’s been granted a title rematch at Extreme Rules. And it’ll be a Chicago Street Fight. Punk got a mic and said he doesn’t know how Jericho will survive such a street fight. He said it’s no longer about him being the best in the world, but rather, kicking Jericho’s ass. He took it as an open invitation from Jericho to do the ass-kicking in Chicago, in front of his family. Jericho intimated that Punk has been on the sauce and asked him to show up at Extreme Rules sober. Jericho said he has footage of Punk that shows where he was earlier in the day. A camera in the bushes caught Punk walking into “The Pilot Inn” at 11:55 am. He walked out, putting his hood over his head later on. Jericho asked Punk what he was doing in a pub before the show. Punk told him to come down and smell his breath. Punk said he was having fish and chips with a friend. Jericho said Punk could’ve eaten anywhere, but chose a pub. He said Punk’s Straight Edge lifestyle has become a façade. He said at Extreme Rules, Punk will lose the only thing he has left: The WWE Championship. As Punk tried to respond, Jericho disappeared, leaving the Raw Supershow logo on the Titan Tron. Crowd chanted “CM Punk” to end things.

- Next, for the United States Title, Santino Marella vs. David Otunga.

- Plus, a pre-recorded interview with Brock Lesnar. “Controversial Words” says the graphic.

[Commercial Break]

-R-Truth was playing Sherlock Holmes backstage after some shots of London aired. Some detective music played in the background as Teddy Long walked up. Truth said he’s looking to find Long a job, since he’s jobless. Truth walked off and Long said that was the best news he’d heard all month.

(2) Santino Marella vs. David Otunga – United States Championship
Santino’s entrance consisted of him tearing off soccer jersey after soccer jersey, much to the ire of the fans until he got to the correct jersey that the London crowd cheered. Otunga elbowed Marella in the skull on a go-behind. Bodyslam and a good one for two at :17. More offense by Otunga until Santino fired back with rights. Marella tried a split to avoid a clothesline, but Otunga booted him in the face. Spinebuster by Otunga and he was all out of position, as the kick-out required Marella to get his foot on the rope, so Otunga had to pin Marella from the other side. It was really sloppy. In the end, the Cobra struck and Santino won.

Winner: Marella, at 2:00. Otunga had that nice bodyslam but it went downhill from there.

-Josh Mathews tried to get a word with Lord Tensai backstage. Sakamoto interrupted, then Tensai spoke. “I know what you should fear,” he said, in his pre-match garb. He then bowed to Sakamoto.

- Some Lesnar clips aired from his interview that will air later. I like how he had to add “piss,” as if we didn’t know what the punchline to “what is running down Cena’s leg” was.

[Commercial Break]

-Cole plugged all the records Wrestlemania broke.

-The announcers talked about the return of Brock Lesnar, and then threw it to a taped Lesnar interview. This is where JR would come in handy. Lesnar said he’s not a Superstar, but an ass-kicker. Video footage of Lesnar’s career aired, from high-school to college, to his WWE days. Stills of his UFC days were shown. Lesnar than made some derogatory comments about John Cena. He said there won’t be a wrestling match later this month with Cena. Instead, it will be a fight containing “utter chaos.” He said beating people up makes him happy. Well, there you go. Good promo from Lesnar, but how wise is it for him to say he’s “real,” intimating that everything else is fake?

-Lesnar vs. Cena in Chicago will be an Extreme Rules match.

-Zack Ryder came out for a match. Stills reminded fans of what Kane did to Ryder a few months ago. Kane came out to oppose Ryder. Match is next.

[Commercial Break]

-Kane’s pyro was just going off as they came back from break (and showing Kane attacking Bob Orton and Randy from Smackdown). Kane attacked Ryder before the bell on the outside and tossed him into the announce desk. Kane tossed Ryder back into the ring and chokeslammed him. They replayed Kane kicking Ryder off the apron and the chokeslam. Kane got a mic as refs checked on Ryder. He talked about taking out both Ortons and said he was surprised it was so easy to take out Randy. “Like father, like son,” he concluded.

-Kofi Kingston was chatting with AJ backstage. HE said she’s better off without him. Daniel Bryan walked up, offended at what was going on. “Just because I clearly don’t want her doesn’t mean it’s open season,” he said. Bryan shushed AJ and told her to watch what he does to Kofi tonight. Bryan opined to himself about the LeBell Lock and how he’s better than Gene LeBell ever was. So from now on, it’s the Yes Lock because when the ref asks if you want to quit, you’ll be saying “yes.” Bryan led the crowd in that chant over and over again.

-John Cena’s state of mind will be revealed when he comments next.

[Commercial Break]

-PIccadilly Circus was shown in London.

-John Cena came out. The two altercations between Lesnar and Cena from last week were shown. Cena took a shot at Johnny Ace and said the end of the era at Wrestlemania may have been his. He said that’s because at Mania, Ace became the most powerful man in WWE and Ace probably thinks, like the fans, “Cena sucks.” Cena kept ragging on Ace saying he wants to legitimize “all of this,” so he went out and got Brock Lesnar. He said Lesnar stands for “destruction” after a year of hearing about people’s movie roles and glad-handing fans. He said Lesnar has won everything there is to win: Lesnar’s sole purpose is to replace him. Cena said he won’t be afraid and he will fight at Extreme Rules. He said if he goes to Extreme Rules and gets the biggest ass-whipping of his life, he doesn’t care: He’ll fight. Johnny Ace then walked out. Ace wanted to prep Cena by putting him in an Extreme Rules match tonight. Next week, on a three-hour (UGH) Raw, there will be a contract signing between him and Lesnar. But Ace wouldn’t reveal the name of Cena’s opponent. Not doing so makes things more interesting and creative in this era of people power.

-They showed how CM Punk retained his title earlier tonight, and the cell phone footage Jericho showed as well as his inflammatory comments.
-Next, Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan.

[Commercial Break]

-Lawler thanked Shinedown for “Adernaline,” the official Extreme Rules theme.

-Hornswoggle was in a study backstage when R-Truth walked in. He walked in through a door disguised as a bookcase, and then walked away. Hornswoggle attempted to find the door, but couldn’t.

(3) Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan
Kofi got some heel heat when he went on offense, as the crowd was firmly behind Bryan. Dropkick in the corner by Bryan, then he dropped the knee across Kofi’s throat. Kick to the mid-section by Kofi, then a knee-lift. Elbows then a knock-down by Bryan. Headlock take-over from Kofi, then he began his comeback around 2:11. Kingston charged by Bryan avoided him. Springboard cross-body allowed Kingston to continue his momentum outside the ring. They broke for commercials at 2:41.

[Commercial Break]

Back at 6:37 with a monkey-flip by Kofi on Bryan. However, Kofi was lured in for a drop toe-hold into the middle turnbuckle. AJ was shown watching on a monitor backstage. Kicks to the chest in the corner as he shouted “yes!” with each one. Bryan had Kofi in a chin-lock, of which Kingston kicked out of. Comeback ensued, culminating in a Boom Drop. He set up for the Trouble in Paradise, but missed. Bryan couldn’t lock in his finisher and Kofi hit the SOS for two at 9:28. Flip kick by Kofi in the corner, but Bryan caught Kofi on the top rope. Kofi headbutted Bryan off and missed a cross-body. Yes Lock was hooked in and after a few seconds to get the crowd into it, Kofi tapped.

Winner: Bryan, at 10:33. Crowd still into Bryan this week. Match was pretty fun.

After the match, Bryan put the Yes Lock in again. Sheamus’ music hit and he ran out to make the save. Bryan let go of the hold and avoided the Brogue Kick, escaping the ring in the process.

-Tonight, John Cena faces a mystery opponent. Based on the silhouette, it looks like Alex Riley.

[Commercial Break]

(4) “Funkasaurus” Brodus Clay vs. Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler tried to take Clay down with a dropkick. Clay with a modified overhead suplex. Jack Swagger treid to pull Ziggler out and tried to get involved himself, drawing a DQ. Ziggler was tossed high up into the air and down. Vickie tried to get involved, but Clay’s dancers tried to stop her. Cameron was shrugged off by Vickie got into the ring and found herself between Clay and Naomi. Naomi shoved her down. Dancing!

Winner: Clay, via DQ, at :22. Not shocked that it was a schmozz, but a little surprised it was so short.

-Johnny Ace and David Otunga were backstage. Ace tried to give Otunga some advice about his in-ring career. Eve walked up and said she and Ace were supposed to have a one-on-one this week. Ace looked lost (nothing new), but said he had time to talk now. All three (despite being a one-on-one) walked into his office.

-Cole and Lawler talked fondly of the late Chief Jay Strongbow. They showed a video on his career. Fans in the arena were shown applauding after the video.

[Commercial Break]

-Footage was shown from outside the O2 Arena.

-R-Truth found Teddy Long a job: General Manager of Smackdown. Long said he was fired from that job, but Truth said his experience makes him the perfect candidate. Is that the payoff?

(5) The Great Khali & The Big Show vs. Epico & Primo
This seems like a weird match. I guess the team, as well as Rosa, has been complaining about their lack of TV time. Abraham Washington, known as AW now, appeared to be scouting some talent, tablet in hand. Hard chop to the chest by Khali. Khali brought Primo in the hard way, then knocked him down. Big boot followed that up. Primo was pulled out of the ring by Epico. The team took their titles and tried to leave, but Show went after them. He grabbed them by the neck and tossed them into the ring. Epico was met with a brain chop, as was Primo. Chokeslam and Punjabi Plunge, in stereo, followed by a double pin.

Winners: Show and Khali, at 1:55. Pointless.

-Stills from WWE’s tour of Russia were shown, with comments from the wrestlers.

-Next, Cena vs. a mystery opponent in an Extreme Rules match.

[Commercial Break]

-John Cena came out first. After a pause, Johnny Ace’s music hit and he and David Otunga made their entrance. Ace intro’d his opponent, Lord Tensai.

(6) John Cena vs. Lord Tensai – Extreme Rules Match
Ace was seated at ringside for this, with Otunga standing over his shoulder. Cena and Tensai traded exchanges in mid-ring. Big uppercut by Tensai. Hard whip into the buckle by Tensai. And another, to the opposite corner, with Cena going chest-first. Tensai followed with a splash. Tensai reversed an Irish Whip, sending Cena into the ringside stairs. Powerbomb attempt, but Cena back-dropped him. Lawler somehow assumed that never happened to Tensai in Japan. Cena rammed the steps off Tensai’s skull. Sakamoto got in a few cheap shots to Cena. Otunga power-walked to the other side of the ring, not to admonish Sakamoto, but to put Cena back into the ring. That was funny. Nerve hold applied by Tensai. Cena started to come back around the five-minute mark. He set up for his You Can’t See Me, but Tensai got to his feet and bludgeoned Cena with a chop. Back splash for a near-fall. Arm-bar by Tensai with Cena on the mat. Cena flipped out and applied the STF. Ace got to his feet at ringside and sent Otunga back in the ring. Cena caught Otunga and gave him the AA. Tensai spit green mist (NBC HAS gone green this week!) in Cena’s face, then gave him the Baldo Bomb. Tensai picked up the win.

Winner: Tensai, at 6:58.

Cena asked for water after the match to clear out his eyes. After a few replays, Tensai posed in the ring while Cena tried to recover and Ace celebrated.

How is the match not a DQ the moment Otunga runs into the ring? I guess whatever works for the angle. But I feel like this match took the lustre off Tensai, big time. Cena exposed him as just another faceless heel, regardless of what the outcome was. They would have been better off letting the squash parade continue with Tensai crushing the army of guys that currently aren't getting TV time. I hear Zeke could use another payday.

Did Primo and Epico behave badly on the plane ride to England or something? Because I can't understand what the purpose of that squash was.

Sigh...thanks for showing up, Zack Ryder. Whatever.

Like just about any show these days, Daniel Bryan is the only positive. Good to see how much The E loves their audience warming up to Bryan by having Lawler openly antagonize them.

I'm ready to echo the sentiment bemoaning Punk's absence from the main event scene, annoying considering that he's the champion. But I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt until after Brock's first match. If Punk's still jerking the curtain after the PPV, THEN I'll concede that it's clear who The E considers the REAL star to be.

Tensai did the Brock Dance to mock Cena at the start of their match! That was awesome. Not awesome: realizing Tensai might also be the "J Pop America Fun Time Now" of the WWE.

Hah, I said the same thing about the A-Ry-looking silhouette.

Punk and Henry was a damn good match.

Brock talking about Cena pissing his pants was much funnier because of the bleeped "piss."

A three-hour RAW? Really?? (Oh hey where *was* the Miz? I guess they'll have room for him on three hour show...)

For some reason hearing Lawler say that really pissed me off. Yeah King, cause all Japanese wrestlers are Yoshi Tatsu size and the thought of one of them picking up a man Tensai's size is impossible. Fuck off Lawler.

#danielbryanyeslock

Would it have killed them to put their advertised main event match between Punk and Henry for the World Title at the END of Raw? When was the last time Punk wrestled in the main event on Raw this year?

Don't mess with Brodus Clay's Funkettes.

Not a good show. Then again I just sat through Impact Wrestling's latest PPV so I was already in a bad mood.

You can't powerbomb Cena (tonight).

I hope Regal is at least on Smackdown this week.

I like the idea that someone (Scott Bowden) had that they should redo the famous "Drunk Lawler" angle* with Punk.

* Lance Russell goes to Jerry's house to find him drunk and in shambles outside. Then, we learn later it was all a ruse.

Or, perhaps he was insinuating the Lord was all powerful and he was shocked it was able to happen.
Or not.

And, WTF is with the Green Mist? Kabuki, Muta and Tajiri are filing copyright infringement suits as we speak.

(my weekly) PY Chu-Hi? (reference)

I know white guys have learned the Oriental/Asiatic Spike (Sullivan, Gordy, Mark Lewin), but not sure about the mist.

Perhaps a white guy wearing a Ninja costume pretending to be Japanese, especially when the character was originally an Asian? (like The Ninja in AWA, who I think was originally Rumya Go and later became someone white, maybe Steve O).

I thought it was green mist blinds people, but the *red mist burns.

With the sudden "Brock was brought in to replace me" spin, I'm getting the idea that Cena is taking some time off after Extreme Rules. Is his name back in the mix for the next "Marine" picture? I mean, it doesn't make any sense for WWE to beat Lesnar his first time back, or beat him in his first feud back - so I think you're limited to Lesnar obliterating Cena out of action to set up an eventual return match down the road, or maybe Cena's next feud interferes to cost him the match. I know which way the Chicago live PPV crowd wants them to go.

Anyone know if Punk worked a 'broken straight edge' angle for ROH? You wonder how long they can go with the Jericho program, the drunk bit would be a logical way to lead into Austin. No idea how you keep it going 7 months to get there.

Randy Orton was slated for The Marine 3. Or at least he was until it was revealed that Orton really WAS a Marine...who deserted his unit...and served prison time...and was dishonorably discharged. So yeah, there's a Marine vacancy at the moment and it's very possible that Cena could come to the rescue. Then again, it's not like Ted DiBiase's really doing anything right now.

For the record, I agree with your statement. I think Cena gets creamed at the PPV.

RE: White dudes using the mist. I'm thinking Mikey Whipwreck used the green mist when he teamed with Tajiri in the Unholy Alliance back in the original ECW. They first did the spot when one of their opponents ducked the mist from Tajiri, only to walk into it from Satanic Mikey. Doh!

Can someone explain what the difference between the first match on Raw, a no-dq no-countout match, and the main event, an Extreme Rules match, actually is?

I didn't know mist was like kryptonite where a different color does a different thing. Minus the Yes Lock and Punk/Henry, there didn't seem to be much good going on in this show. Tensai beating Cena is a surprise, but not really. Now, Cena will steamroll past him to get to Lesnar.

I am also not a fan of Johnny being involved with Cena. The Laurantis character seem to be set up to be the major obstacle to Punk. Now, he is Cena's Vince. I don't like that at all. Its like they took the one thing that could help Punk tie all his storylines together from the summer and give it to Cena for no reason whatsoever. Seems to me like they would rather give the big pop of Laurantis' comeuppance to Cena instead of Punk. A comeuppance I hope happens soon, we are barely a month away from Mania and I am already bored of Johnny/Otunga being the new NWO light interference duo.

Ryder, just wow. Lesson one kids, don't ever try to get yourself over on the WWE's time. If no one sees him not getting buried then I don't know what to tell you. I expect Miz on Smackdown either getting Johnny's face over not being on Raw or getting a title shot against Sheamus or something.

How refreshing was Cole tonight when he dropped the heel character? He was as good as he gets for the Punk/Henry match, and Henry ate that chair like a man.

MESSHUGINATOR.

"The Yes Lock" is a smart re-branding.

So who does Tensai take a belt from: Show or Santino?

If they really want to hammer home how awesome he is, then knocking off Show would be the way to go. Plus, having him squash Santino would probably get the bad, "stop putting this guy over our favourite comedy character" kind of heat.

BUT, I really want to see Cody beat Show in an Extreme Rules match. Decisions decisions.
