I legit got goosebumps at this point. It worked on about 30 levels for me.

The only real missed opportunity last night - and this is more of a case that it's something that they should have done weeks, if not months ago - is that Cena only briefly got to touch on the idea that the fans once hated Rocky Maivia as much, if not more, than they hate John Cena.
YES. This needed more elaboration than "I've seen your DVD"; that follow-up comment seemed to switch it from "I've heard you be booed when you were a face, and you reacted poorly" to "you have been a heel, while I've been Ricky Steamboat since I was a champion", which seemed like a mistep.

It really jumped out at me not only for the meta angle of cartoon characters not falling off a cliff until they realize they should be falling off a cliff that "John Cena Always Wins" hit on, but also because it suggests the one and only storyline left for ten year veteran, double digit champion, face of the company John Cena.

And that is: what happens when John Cena doesn't win? As he put it himself last night, the reason Cena rises above the hate when everyone else before him didn't is that he's won every time they hated him once he got on top (except when Punk beat him in the summer, at which point Cena screwed over Rey and was quickly given a new title, interestingly enough). So the only variation left to play is Cena definitively (if not necessarily cleanly) losing the big match to see how he reacts. Obviously, turning heel is an option, but a beaten Cena who finally hits a point where hustle, loyalty and respect didn't get the job done and starts to consider that maybe it's time to give up is equally viable and interesting.

It would be, in it's own way, the crossroads Bret Hart hit between WM12 and WM13, but still different enough because Bret was a beloved underdog as champ who the fans turned on anyway vs. Cean's hated overachiever. But still the same idea of a guy who does all the right things and still gets dumped on and starts to wonder if it's worth it. And I consider Bret's direction from WM12 to Survivor Series '97 to be one of the best character arcs (and the morphing Michaels/Hart to Hart/Austin to Austin/Michaels feud to be one of the best things that's ever happened in wrestling).

TWO QUESTIONS ONLY SLIGHTLY RELATED TO LAST NIGHT'S SHOW:

1: I'm not on Twitter. Is there any place other than twitter.com where I can see for myself what is (or isnt) trending?

2: Anybody know who Rock has been training/working/"sparring" with in preparation for his WM match?

ONE COMMENT REGARDING THE BUILD-UP TO ROCK/CENA:

1: This is the only time I can think of where the participants in an upcoming WM main event match have spent so little face-to-face time together WHILE ALSO never using any of that time "almost coming to blows" (trading finishers weeks apart doesnt count), or even in a good old fashioned "pull-apart"! Weird.

Actually, I guess UT has never built up his WM main event matches that way either, but it's still weird to me dammit.

I'm sure there are, but none that I know of. I thought you could see what was trending without logging in, but maybe not. For what it's worth, when WWE has said something is trending worldwide, they've been telling the truth, at least when I checked.

According to the newest Observer, Curt "Curtis" Hawkins.

Cena's micwork has been the best it's been in years. This is such fantastic heeling without heeling. I even loved his direct reference to the fact that he smiles all the time.

You could also do like someone else suggested and have Cena cheat to win this match because it's so important to him, and deal with the fallout from that. Does he turn heel in victory? Does he maintain that he's still the good guy even with evidence to the contrary? There are a lot of ways you can play this out and make Cena fresh and interesting again. Or maybe at least get him some new music.

On the top right corner of the Yahoo homepage you can. It lists the current top 10 trending subjects.

https://twitter.com/#!/search-home

You should see the worldwide trending topics on that page, even if not logged in.

EDIT: Or do you have something against going to twitter.com altogether?

Nothing against twitter.com at all. When people posts links to other folk's twitter pages ot twitpics, I can click and see them no problem. But when I just clicked on your link, Twitter asks me to log in.

EDIT: I think my post just broke a table but looking at the code I dont see how/why.

Am I crazy or did the Rock NOT mention that WrestleMania 28 is in his hometown? It would seem the natural comeback to all Cena's "I ain't losin' to no visitor"-commentary, but whatever.

Back before live365.com started charging, we used to do a similar audio feed for efnet's #wrestling. Live365 apparently started getting complaints from WWE about it, and began warning broadcasters.
