Cole was banging on about that at the Rumble. He was claiming that Brodus calls that move the pterodactyl. All we can know for sure is that everyone involved is thick.

I recognize it more as the Teen Wolf, from the eponymous movie.

As my friend noted on Sunday, one of the benefits of watching the PPVs at a restaurant/sports bar is you can barely hear most of Cole's commentary...

Last night was the first time I've watched a whole episode of RAW in about 6 years (or any WWE show for that matter, though I have been watching clips here and there since CM Punk's summer angle.)

I could not believe what they are doing with Michael Cole. I read about him here and elsewhere, and have heard him in snippets, but sitting through an entire 2 hours of that was ridiculous. I have no idea why anybody in WWE thought a heel play-by-play guy would be a good idea, and am more astonished that it has gone on this long. It completely ruins the light, enjoyable nature of a wrestling show, because the play-by-play guy, the guy whose voice you hear most, is not providing a reliable narrative.

I think I'm going back to video clips only.

ANyone else think the build to WrestleMania might focus on UT being humbled and embarrassed? The obvious wig makes me think that the focus is going to be UT looking and being old and frail, to truly make him the underdog looking for one last win. How great/shocking would it be if that wig deliberately gets pulled off at some point? It's the last taboo - Taker as a flesh-and-blood, aging, broken-down old guy.

I am not sure about the hair, that seems rather...I dunno, far out there I guess.
But yes, I do get the idea that it will be a reversal of the usual build. HHH claims he did manage to destroy the Undertaker (despite not defeating him) and he has nothing to prove in his mind, so now it'll have to be Taker who has to make sure he gets the match. He'll probably pretty much say what someone else said already "you took me to my limit, only you can complete me. etc"

I really do hope this means that we get a more even match, not like last year where the action bored me to death.

It's out there, but Taker being humbled and embarrassed - and not in the goofy, "I've lost my DeadMan powers to my evil zombie brother" way - is literaly the last story left to tell with him. I just don't see how he's going to wrestle a match while wearing that thing, either.

It might be a full weave and not a wig.

This whole thing with the wig and everything - it's just getting sad. We've also seen this match like a hundred times before. It's not a dream match that has to happen. Undertaker should retire instead, be inducted into the HoF and go home once and for all. He's done it all. There's nothing left for him to prove.

Instead of Taker harrasing Steph, he's probably going to harrass the WWE Borad of Directors since their the ones who don't think Corporate H should be getting involved in matches. After him threatening them all, it'll lead to H walking into the corporate boardroom with all the directors sweating bullets, and at the end of the table, the big chair swings around, and there's Take, with his new Corporate Haircut, saying, "I'm your new boss. You're fighting me at WM. Deal with it."

I kinda love the idea, but only if it was in service of Taker vs. a younger guy, not a guy just about his age who will probably be (mostly) retiring as well. No one's going to beat the Undertaker now, and no one will even buy anyone short of Heel Monster Cena even having a chance, but asshole young guy exploiting that the Undertaker is old and breaking down is a heat generating machine, and the guy only has to spend most of the match looking like he's killing the Undertaker to get the right rub out of it.

Give that angle to Barrett and it could make him the star he was on the verge of being. He's got the size to make the killing-the-Undertaker parts look good, and he's big enough that Undertaker finding the last reserve to beat him is an equally strong visual. Add on to that how Wade is young enough to make playing this final card worthwhile AND he's good enough to do the "I'd literally drop the punk card on you, but I'm afraid you can't even bend over enough to pick it up anymore" kinds of promos you'd need.

Actually having the wig get yanked off would be surreal and maybe too much, although again, I think the heat a guy like Barrett (as opposed to HHH, who doesn't need it) could get out of it might be worth how uncomfortable it would be. The only thing they really, really don't need to do (and I won't be shocked if they do it for the HHH build-up) is have anyone call him "Mark" again. They should be able to tell the "guy behind the Dead Man is dying" story without hitting that particular eye-roller.

I'm now just obsessed with the image of Taker kneeling in the ring, bald and downcast, with Barrett/HHH standing before him with the wig in his hands smiling incredulously as a silent crowd watches on. It'd be surreal, but it'd also be some of the most dramatic, powerful stuff they could do with UT.

Still, whatever happens I like this aged, beaten-down, Eastwood-in-UNFORGIVEN version of the character. YES. THere is the analogue, building to UT Vs. Wade Barrett:

UT - William Munny
Wade Barrett - Little Bill
Paul Bearer in a coffin - Ned Logan

I wrote this on New Year's Eve in the Brock Speculation thread:

A [Brock Lesnar] WM match with Taker works if Taker is packaged as the crafty old lion challenged by the monstrous alpha male wannabe. Taker goes into the match older, wounded, and creaky and manages a win with the strength of will alone and retires the following Monday on RAW. Lesnar loses but gets to be the guy who retires Taker. Win-win. And then face Brock wrestles heel Cena at Summerslam.

If not with Brock, this angle still works for me. Insert any credible hoss vs. Taker.

Hmmm ... Heel Monster Cena. Would be interesting if Kane's end game with getting Cena to embrace the hate was to get him to destroy Undertaker. Not gonna happen, though.
