Orton's not gonna be hurt enough to miss the Rumble, I don't think. But looking at it you're pretty bang-on about it being a star-light Rumble match so far, although with WWE.com's breathless announcement that those with Rumble matches already will still be eligible for the Rumble itself I'd imagine Henry, Show, Dolph, Kane and maybe even Cena will end up in there.

Not only is Broadus a burst of joy in a show about angry people (is Big Johnny listening to Kane?), but someone finally saw the wisdom of using the KNOX BLOCK as a finisher.

Funkasaurus is wonderful. Jericho is wonderful. YEAHYEAHYEAHYEAHYEAH!

Eve was great tonight. The best Eve has ever been as a character. She is an excellent girlfriend, in a different way than AJ, who is also an excellent girlfriend.

Cole was also great tonight. Everything he said as John Cena annihilated Jack Swagger was correct: Swagger committed no crime tonight. He had no part in Kane nearly murdering Ryder. He had a scheduled US Title match he showed up for. He wrestled fairly, didn't cheat, and used three Swagger Bombs because Ryder kicked out of the first two. And yet Cena victimized him.

Swagger was the Sand People, Ryder was Shmi Skywalker, and John Cena was Anakin Skywalker who completely lost his shit. Instead of appearing on the Titan Tron, Kane should start appearing as a fuzzy black and white hologram and calling John "Young Cena."

Man, if they hadn't already booked Rock, a returning Undertaker might be the only thing to save the WWE from a fully heel Cena at Mania. And that match would be HUGE.

I don't understand some people hating on Laurinitis. I thought tonight he was ON.

Also, I guess I'm not the wrestling fan I thought I was...I had no idea he was Hawk's brother.

I gotta question Kane's strategy, or at least his long term goals, as I think going ahead and letting Cena actually murder Jack Swagger by crushing his head between the steps like he was seconds away from doing would have been a huge step towards making Cena embrace the hate.

Has anyone ever been more hurt by a World/Heavyweight title win than Swagger? The guy is obviously talented and should be someone on the verge of being a real star for them, but that "failed former champion" aura around him has just left him completely rudderless and it doesnt' seem like they have any idea what to do with him. I can't help but think he'd be in a much better position in the company if they'd never given him the title run on SmackDown. How do they rebuild him?

The highlights of the night were Truth's "I don't even know if that's PG!" and Big Johnny telling Eve to shut up with such force out of nowhere. Also, Barrett's boots matching his weird, designer underwear-style tights.

Really liked Punk's promo, he needed one of those. As others have said, Punk works best when he's being an jerk, and this is a situation where he can do that and still be right about it, as opposed to when HHH was undercutting him. A great deal of what appeals about Punk is how he's self-aware about wrestling and can be snarky about it, but he's also great when he gets to sound genuinely pissed at somebody, and that fire was there last night.

Ziggler's work at the top was good, too, especially the part about Foley's kids. He's obviously clever, and I think whenever they finally give him a serious topic to cut a promo about - as he's mostly involved in comedy mic segments - he's really going to deliver.

I realize it couldn't have worked this way because of how the match had to end, but man, it would have been even funnier if Jericho gets tagged in, does the exact same thing, and then tagged back out and stood on the apron again and gone back to cheering Punk and Bryan on. Also, I swear, I will never, ever get tired of the blinkin' jacket.

Didn't see SmackDown, so as some suggested in that thread, I'd say the production team did a great job as usual, because Show running into AJ looked good as presented on Raw. Heel Bryan vs. Face Show is not the angle I'd have booked, but this is the best possible version of it thanks to how Bryan and Show are working it. The exchange on Raw where Bryan just straight clocked Henry and Henry only got madder, followed by Bryan taking off as fast as he could was great work by Henry and Bryan. If they can find the right thing to do with him, Henry will get over as a face without changing anything from his Hall of Pain persona. I'd love to see him in an Elimination Chamber match right now, just wrecking people.

Funkasaurus, Week 2: Continued success by Brodus Clay. I have no idea what they do with him now, and I suspect they don't either since they probably didn't count on this working, but, I dunno, feud him with Miz or something.

He's Joe "Animal" Laurinatis' brother.

Loved the opening 15 and closing 30 minutes on this show. Everything else was either just OK, or in the case of the seemingly endless recappery of the Kane/Cena/Ryder saga just beating a dead horse...

Foley showed how you deliver a money promo in that opening segment, and Ziggler more than kept up with him. "Buy a new shirt, eat a salad and just GO AWAY!" is the line of the year so far. Ziggler was coming across so well that I was disappointed when Punk came out. His appearance here seemed unnecessary, as was his burial of Ziggler's look.

At least Punk redeemed himself at the end of the show. Great promo there, and Big Johnny's almost robotic, tie straightening reactions were a thing of beauty.

The John Cena we saw last night is something that is very difficult to get annoyed by. This is the route he needs to take eventually. It just seems so much fresher and more importantly, Cena has always played the no-nonsense ass kicker pretty well. Most hate him because of the overly cheesy promos and character.

Swagger is like the 2010 decade version of Wildfire Tommy Rich. And to a lesser extent, Kerry Von Erich, who was at least always mega-over in Texas. I don't think Swagger has the same rampant fan support in Oklahoma.

Eliminating the "She's okay!" chant did a world of wonders.

Get well soon, AJ! Daniel appreciates you!

I love you for the Star Wars reference. However, I see Kane as Count Dooku as someone wants to see his dark side, but at the same time destroy him. If you wanted to go the full 9 yards make Rock, Mace Windu where you see how vicious Cena can be. Have Rock win at Mania, but then Cena flip out and destroy him. The giant twist could be Piper is Sidous. He is the one who first started this and make it come full circle with him getting revenge on the Attitude Era guys and the current ones who now eclipse what he did. Piper did allude to that in his promo. I also think in actuality there is someone behind Kane doing this and that person is whoever Big Johnny is texting, but I could be off base. I also agree, a heel Cena vs. a returning Taker to stop him would be an epic SummerSlam match. Ugh! Funkasaurous has a date with Wrestlecrap.

In additional to what Sharp said before about merch, they apparently have licensed the "Just take care, spike your hair!" Broski of the Week song. I think Ryder will put in a good showing at the Rumble, eliminate Swagger and a couple of other people, and build up a program between him and Swagger.

Going back to last year, this is what started his run. I remember clearly Henry doing stuff like ripping off cage doors, throwing 500 pound dudes through cages, throwing ring steps like they're softballs. The Elimination Chamber is going to be epic with him in it....especially if they some how keep Bryan vs Show vs Henry going, and trying to have Bryan hang on for dear life in the Chamber.

I don't believe the audiences care or even remember his failed title run.
So it would only take 2-4 weeks to make him a believable bad-ass again. Rip a fan favorite apart, etc etc.
That works every time.

But it seems the writers/Vince just have no interest in this at all. Even John Morrison was treated better than him.

But who knows? Maybe he'll be allowed to show some of his skills if he gets a decent feud (with Ryder?) over the US title.

I just realized though that Kofi could use a singles feud.
Swagger-Kingston part 1,000,000 will start soon.

Well, turned out Bourne was. My issue was that Ryder just won the title, and now they're putting it on a guy who has done nothing lately and didn't bother building him up before having him beat Ryder. The evidence is there that Ryder's segments haven't done well in the ratings, and we know how knee-jerk WWE is to that stuff. And I don't see anyone suggesting he's getting fired.

I suppose if WWE has Ryder drop the title to move onto something bigger (like staying associated with the Kane vs. Cena feud) a la Ziggler, then I'm okay with it.

This RAW was awesome. Did not even notice the lack of wrestling time. Didn't matter, because just about everybody's non-wrestling performances were stellar: Ziggler, Foley, Punk, Big Johnny, Eve, Zack, Cena, Brodus, Bryan, Jericho.

I don't think the opening segment is getting enough credit. Ziggler (especially) & Foley were ON.

The way they were going, I thought for sure Cena was going to take the US Title, so he'd have to defend it against Zack in February in a match that would cement Cena's heel turn. Also, giving Swagger a half-hour title reign would not have been unexpected.

Cena was the best during the murdering of Swagger, especially when he made an exaggerated effort to pick the steel stairs up to show how heavy they were. Swagger's head was going to be CRUSHED!

Everything you say is the absolute truth, and that makes Lawler's commentary during this segment SO horrible. When Lawler said "maybe Swagger should've forfeited," I wanted to kill him.

So, is the second hour of RAW the "RAW Zone Supershow" or the "RAW Supershow Zone"?

This is Jericho's third appearance, which corresponds to the third video: Look Within. Maybe we were supposed to Look Within his match and note Punk as Jericho's ultimate target. I, however, Looked Within the ad that Lawler read copy for during Jericho's entrance. Turns out Jericho's jacket does more than light up.

I suspect this is the long-delayed push of the La Familia: Swagger holds the US belt while Ziggler chases Punk's belt. If Mason Ryan had stayed in the group, he could just as easily beaten Ryder.

I like Swagger. I think he's got potential, but it's about time that potential was realized. He moves like a teenage golden retriever, and he cannot talk. That's why the Vickie recruitment was smart. But they hadn't until now done much with him or that combo.

Read this on another message board, but my new favourite Royal Rumble scenario is it gets down to two guys (say, Orton and Barrett) with the #30 entrant still to arrive. Orton and Barrett eliminate each other, meaning #30 is the automatic winner. That man is Jericho, who just comes out and cheers, celebrates and cries about his huge Rumble victory.

-Why even bother bringing in Perez Hilton if you are booking him as a FACE?? They were in his backyard (eww) and he still got booed out of the building. That said, I think he would make a hell of a heel manager.

-The Brodus T-Rex arms WILL get over. Genius touch.

-Seems like they are gonna keep Jericho silent until he gets boos, but that may never happen. Still getting 95% face heat when he comes out. I know they figure people will get sick of it, but the problem is that he is in a new town each week and those fans haven't seen him in a long time so they will still cheer.

-A Mick Foley rub means nothing in 2012. Hell, it didn't mean that much to Edge 5 years ago. When you lose to everyone it is hard to matter. If they wanna push Ziggles they would be better off giving him a Rumble or MITB win.

-Speaking of, my Ziggles hate is slightly diminishing. Still I can't get behind anyone who is with Vicki. (And no that doesn't mean she is a good heel, because I fast forward every time she is on. The only reason I saw this segment was because Mick was on).

I had a similar thought last night, except I thought it would be hilarious if Jericho came out about 25 or so, did all the posing and gladhanding for like 10 minutes without getting in the ring, then dashed in at the last minute and eliminated the last guy.
