Couldn't he have manipulated them in 1/4 of the time it took? I see what you mean, this builds him up as a heel, but as a stand alone TV segment it was horrible to sit through.
It is like one of those episodes of Lost where you sit there for an hour and are pissed, because nothing really happened then two or three episodes pass and a bunch of stuff happens and you are all amped and psyched that you just watched one of the best episodes ever only it never would have meant much if it wasn't for that episode where nothing seemingly happened never happened.
I think a lot of people are raving that it was the best thing ever, because it will probably turn out to be an important moment for the Jericho character. Only right now it wasn't anything more than a unique and clever seed being planted for the future.
I can just see Jericho talking to a group of people before going out and saying that he is going to do nothing and get rave reviews for it while making fun of the every four month Triple H return, himself, every WWE Vignette ever aired, you and me all at the same time.
It just wasn't compelling television to watch ... only it was because we are all talking about it and I am no more right than the guy that thinks it was one of the best moments ever or the guy still scratching his head about what he saw.
Of course we all believe Jericho can pull whatever it is he is pulling off. If this were anyone else doing this I'm not sure we would feel very good about it at all.

| #62 Posted on 3.1.12 1638.59 | Just re-watched the EPIC jericho segment, and came across this nugget.
During the end sequence of his theme playing, this line kept looping. I dont remember it in the original song, but i never listened closely before.
"I am the pack to flock you like sheep"
Edit, and yes, this was always there, but it doesnt loop in any other version i can find.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I even said to my son that Jericho was doing a Andy Kaufmann.
The problem is that my son (like the rest of the young WWE audience) replied "Who???"
I didn't like Jericho's return and this is why. Just like with Andy Kaufmann fans, the hardcore wrestling fans look at what Jericho did and say it was comedic genius (and maybe it was). But the majority of the other WWE viewers will think it was just stupid, not funny at all and one huge disappointment. It was just a long drawn out Kaufmann-like bit that just made the return become uncomfortably unfunny. Like I said, some people will say it was genius, but most will just have a disappointed "WTF was that???" response and possibly be turned off from RAW.
I don't see how doing something like this to the fans helps the ratings.
Well, let's ask Chris. How's this going to help?

Man. I wish I had a light up jacket I could just turn on as a way to answer any question I don't feel like answering.

That fake smile is actually very reminiscent of the Rock's recent return(s) to the ring, more so than HHH or any other star that I can remember in recent history.

I think if it was anyone, but Jericho or Rock or Austin who pulled this stunt, it would be a bomb. But, Jericho has built up enough good will with the fans or at least the IWC, we have faith in him to make sense of this or be awesome enough that we will forget about the videos and this weird return.

If that's the case, then that means the "Kane's dead girlfriend" storyline was compelling television?
Because people sure were talking about it.

I see what you are getting at, but that an apples and oranges conversation. Katie Vick just turned people away.
