The Lovely Mrs. Tracker finally got to see heel Cena in the video from SmackDown. She noted immediately how much smaller he seemed, and she loved the story that he named his FU finisher as a way to one-up Lesnar and his F5.

Bull gave me that rare happiness that a wrestler I thought was dead isn't.

Agreed. I posted a few weeks ago that they have given a piss poor effort in booking this story of Cena and Rock teaming up, with the attitude of “It’s Rock, just buy the damn thing”. They didn’t even try.

Rock, of course, brought it. To the point of everyone in the ring at the end with him was out classed, even Cena. They all looked like amateurs with canned responses compared to Rock. They usually do anyway, but to be in the same ring with Rock spouting the same old scripted shit made me almost feel sorry for the other three men. There is no one on the roster anywhere near Rock’s level, not even close. I love Punk, but not even him.

John Cena rapping was the most interesting thing he's done since CM Punk put him through that table. Too bad it was a several year-old clip.

This whole Survivor Series tag match has been horribly booked so nobody is making it look good, but it's not any of the guy's faults, IMO. The writers should've looked at how they were laying the angle out week-to-week and realized that it wasn't going to be great.

(I did like the Rock's "You Can't See Me" at the top of the ramp, though.)

It's pretty remarkable that the same promotion can put on the worst wrestling show and then a day later tape Smackdown which is consistently excellent. I guess it's really true that Vince is so exhausted from micromanaging Raw that he just rubber stamps every idea the Smackdown writing team brings him and with his minimal involvement the show is really good.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. What was so great about Rock's promo? He ran down his morning routine, then talked about Twitter so much that Michael Cole had to be thinking "damn, that's a lot of talk about Twitter." Then he said Cena had "lady bits".

As for "spouting the same old scripted shit", Rock used his "finally" and "millions" catchphrases, and said that only kids like Cena.

Sometimes it’s not what you say, it’s how you says it. It’s all in the delivery. We have all heard Rock’s spiel millions (and millions) of times, but we believe it because of the passion and intensity he puts into it. Awful Truth and Cena, and pretty much everyone else, sound like they are hitting their spots because that’s what the script told them to do. It’s rehearsed, and sounds like it.

Maybe you just didn’t like the segment overall, I can see that. But my most important point was that Rock embarrasses the roster (of wrestlers and writers) whenever he is on the show.

I loved Rock's promo but I think the reason he seems to outclass everyone so badly is not just because of the material the others are delivering, but because of the Rock's own ridiculous level of natural charisma. It's just hard to compete... how do you become more charismatic?! There's no machine for that at the gym.

GEEMONEY! John Cena... is not so bad bro, he sold being embarassed as well as anyone could have. Yeah he was smiling, but that doesn't mean he wasn't embarassed.

To me, the only acceptable way to bring Foley back was to use him to end the RAW Anonymous GM storyline... you know, just bring the storyline back for 2 weeks and end it with Foley.
Or you could just bring him back to do some dumb Cena thing and get deleted by the Rock for no reason... same diff.

Not only was it Mick Foley's big return to WWE after five plus years away, but it was terrible. Not only was it terrible (among the reasons because John Cena is a totally different character from The Rock and trying to embarrass him doesn't have the same effect), but everyone said it was terrible on the air. Cole and Lawler both said it was terrible. John Cena said it was terrible while it was happening. The Rock said it was terrible. I think even The Miz said it was terrible. They made Foley look like archaic garbage and practically high fived each other for doing so.

I think the problem is Mick Foley is archaic garbage. He's turned himself into such a buffoon that nobody can get into his shtick anymore.

That fucking book ruined the poor guy. Not only did he come out and state he would never be one of those guys that keep coming back, he bought into his own hype and overexposed himself as himself.

Not only do I think he's all done in the ring, but I don't believe that the guy has one more badass promo in him. Terry Funk should come out and rip Foley a new asshole for being such lame ass pussy.

Nobody clings to the Attitude Era more than Foley and he's the one guy out of the group that you would have thought could evolve.

This show illustrated just how much we've gone to the status quo. Would "Summer of Punk" CM Punk have just sat in the back while Dwayne and John Boy were in the ring arguing about who was the best? Or Mick Foley funning a segment in the ground?

We're supposed to by Punk as this rebel and the ONLY things he has a problem with are Cole and Laurenitis?

I was thinking more, would Summer Of Punk have waited for the entire Michael Cole challenge to take place before getting involved?

I would actually care about Summer of Punk if he didn't shoot down everyone on twitter that asks him why he isn't rebelling with the excuse of more money. Ok, we got you got rich, now how about entertaining us. I understand he has to run shit by Vince, but God Lord at least do something a bit shocking instead of being too school for cool face.

As annoying as people found Foley last night, I am finding Punk the same way to. At least with Foley, I was entertained. Punk is beginning to lose me as a believer.

Imagine this: so they do Cena/Rey for the title at SummerSlam. It's a unique main event in a hispanic market and the show flopped anyway. Del Rio banks one of them afterwards, we'll say Cena since he can't lose two in a row (and he's putting over Del Rio after this). Alberto beats Rey. Beats Cena twice, once by beating him down with a pipe and again when Miz and Truth cost him the match. Or maybe he even goes over Triple H once, perish the thought, when Nash makes his surprise return at powerbombs him. Del Rio holds the title from SummerSlam to Survivor November as a strong champion -- and then CM Punk shows up with the other belt and they set up the unification match at Survivor Series. Punk wins, as he's probably going to IRL, he unifies the title, he's a big babyface, and you're still holding the card of the big Punk/Cena rematch and the Punk/HHH match.

(Given the choice, I would rather Punk just be a basic main event babyface like he has been this month than whatever "provocative" line he was trying to walk before that, anyway.)

Foley has developed some bad habits, but it was still Mick Foley, a top 15 all-time WWE star no matter how far they try and work him down that list, making his first appearance in three years. And they used him like he may as well have been Sgt. Slaughter and laid him out as a comedy spot. Even if you're over the Foley routine anymore, for a company so desperately in need of event television, they sure are quick to squander things that could actually be events. But this is the creative structure that has now overseen the ruination of the return of Bret Hart and is on its way to, if not ruining, at least minimizing the impact of the return of the Rock.

I think Rock's first match and Rock/Cena are kind of like the first half of the nWo angle, in that they're too big to kill and are going to be major successes regardless. Nevertheless, it's one thing to blow Nexus or CM Punk's angle, but these are the layups of all layups and theoretically should be/should've been some of the biggest things to ever happen in WWE history, they fell in their laps because both guys wanted to come back, and they can't even get them almost-right.

Bull Buchanan was amazing though. I thoroughly freaked out at B^2, B^2's booyah, and B^2's actually music. So there's one legend's return they got right last night. But I do think the Goodfather was a better partner than Cena.

Dolph going into the tag instead of the Ryder match was a major bummer when that spot could've been easily filled by Otunga or Epico. Maybe Ziggler will work twice and the petition will go through right after his first match or something. Still, I think them having a real title match with Ziggler carrying him to a strong match with the dynamic of the hometown guy getting nearfalls for a title change would've been a better addition to the show than one of those "LOL heel!" surprise title changes, if it even happens.

This was one of the better horrible Jim Ross segments, he really crushed it with the dancing.

The MVP of the show was the guy who furiously yelled out "WHAT ABOUT RIGHT TO CENSOR?!" when B-Squared called Cena the only good partner he ever had.

The weirdest/worst part of the Foley segment was how he sort of came off as an intentional heel (as opposed to an unintentional heel by being booed for praising Cena) by just bringing out people to insult Cena, but then Rock seemed like a heel for coming out and attacking him, but then it just turned out to be more of their "Everybody gets to be an asshole but still gets to be a face because people liked it when Punk did it" stance. Cena did take a huge lead in the inside reference drop race standing last night.

I would appreciate it anybody could take all the footage from last night of Cena turning to either the crowd or the camera and making that "Ooooh, he insulted me, ruh roh!" face and adding a sad trombone sound over it each time. Or maybe the musical sting from the old Debbie Downer sketches.

I'm more or less over Foley, but I agree that you cannot just have a guy show up and start doing campy bits if you want to make your show "Must See". Having someone show up in a stretch limo was kind of cool in 1999 when there were two shows on at the same time fighting over the same talent, but it doesn't do much now.

Not only does Foley have to rebound from coming back and doing a crappy bit, but now what do you do with the guy? He could have come in as the Raw GM like someone mentioned. He could have come back after Cena and Rock clashed. He could have come back after hearing somebody trash the hardcore style, legends, Christmas Land, Dewey or socks but they didn't do any of it.

So, now is he just going to start showing up to events and getting mic time? Did Johnny Ace confirm the signing? Is it a one time thing? Great, another rudderless guy that needs more mic time.

This...indeed, this. He was put in a bad segment, and it flopped. He's still Mick. Given something better to work with, he can still talk circles around the entire roster. This is just the latest attempt to shit all over an aging star when he comes back and things don't go the way the IWC wants them to. The segment was terrible, not Mick.
