TONIGHT: One night after Night of Champions, the Triple H/Punk situation is as muddled as ever. John Cena is the new WWE Champion, so where does he (and Alberto Del Rio) go from here? Will John Laurinaitis finally get his for sabotaging Hunter? What about Kevin Nash? And what’s R-Truth and Miz’s explanation for not allowing Punk to pin Triple H last night? Since we’ve got a Supershow, Mark Henry’s first night as World Champion could mean he’s going to be on the show, too. Actor Hugh Jackman is the guest host

-WWE Open.

-RAW Open.

-Lots o’ fireworks began the show, as well as the camera panning the crowd as the Raw theme played. Michael Cole, voice intact, voiced over discussion of two new champions being crowned last night. Jerry Lawler plugged Hugh Jackman’s appearance tonight.

-CM Punk’s music played and he gingerly walked to the ring. He had his elbow wrapped as well. JR spoke for the first time as Cole talked about Twitter. Punk talked about how the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland has never been kind to him. He said he had to forfeit the title there and Bob Holly once punched him so hard he still has trouble with his eye. He said tonight, he can barely turn his head back and forth and has other assorted injuries after last night. Tonight, he has to admit that maybe, just maybe, he’s wrong. Maybe, just maybe, Miz and R-Truth were right: There is a conspiracy in WWE. It’s not the one Miz and Truth are talking about, but it is one that involves…but before he could finish, Triple H’s music hit and he walked out. Cole said you can tell by his suit that he’s still COO. So everyone who wears a suit is COO?

During Hunter’s entrance, JR talked about Truth and Miz not wanting Hunter as COO. Then why did they pull Punk off of Hunter last night? Triple H said the two of them went to war last night. But today, he’s still COO of WWE. He said tonight, he’s going to do his day job. Hell in a Cell is in two weeks and John Cena is champion for the 10th time. He said Alberto Del Rio deserves his re-match and honestly, Punk deserves the re-match he never got, too. So in two weeks, for the first time ever, the WWE Championship will be up for grabs in a Triple Threat Hell in a Cell match. Now that business is over, he told Punk that if he can’t get it through his thick head that he has nothing to do with any conspiracy, then he has no problem going back to war with Punk right now. Oh, and he took off his jacket and loosened his tie! Punk said he feels the same way, but people keep interrupting them. He wanted to finish his thoughts before Hunter came out. He said someone is using the both of them, using the fact that they have issues. He said there’s a conspiracy, but it doesn’t involve Hunter, but someone higher on the ladder.

John Laurinaitis interrupted Punk and he walked to the ring. He said there’s a conspiracy, but Punk is in the middle of it. He said Punk isn’t fooling anyway and told Hunter not to believe anything Punk has to offer. He said Punk is just upset because he couldn’t beat Hunter. Punk asked Laurinaitis of his job title, and Punk mocked him. Punk said when he wished him good luck last night, he could see it in Laurinaitis’ eyes that he thinks he should be COO. He bet that he sent R-Truth and Miz out last night, he cut Punk’s mic last week, and he told Nash to text himself. Laurinaitis said he doesn’t want to be COO, his job is to look out for the welfare of the wrestlers. Laurinaitis reminded Punk that he worked for him, and Hunter reminded him that as the COO, he’s Laurinaitis’ boss. Hunter said he doesn’t know what’s going on, but he’s going to get to the bottom of it. Laurinaitis wished Punk the best in his future endeavors, then fired him. Hunter said he wasn’t fired, and Laurinaitis looked confused. Hunter said at the end of the night, he’ll get to the bottom of it, and someone is getting fired. Hunter’s music played as he left the ring, Laurinaitis close behind.

-They showed a slow-mo clip of Mark Henry giving Orton the World’s Strongest Slam. JR said he’d speak to Henry tonight in his first interview as champion.

-Next, an eight-man tag match featuring stars of Raw and Smackdown.

[Commercial Break]

(1) Sheamus & Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne & Justin Gabriel vs. Wade Barrett & Michael McGillicutty & David Otunga & Christian
No entrances for anyone. Gabriel tagged in Kingston, who connected on a sunset flip for two. Bourne tagged in and did a double-stomp on McGillicutty’s chest. McGillicutty eventually grounded Bourne and tagged Otunga. Running clothesline turned Bourne inside-out (TM WWE Films) but he didn’t go for the pin. Tag to Barrett, back-breaker for two at 1:51. Lawler said he heard Truth and Miz were fired after last night. Bourne took Christian down, but Otunga knocked Kingston off the apron to prevent a tag. He trash-talked Bourne, but Bourne found his way under a short-arm clothesline and tagged Sheamus. Powerslam on Otunga. Irish Curse back-breaker was next for two, but Barrett and McGillicutty broke it up. Things broke down at 3:29, and Kofi came off the top with a cross-body. JR mistakenly said WWF and it was bleeped out, and he corrected himself. Brogue Kick to Otunga. Celtic Cross as Christian watched from ringside. Sheamus looked right at him while he did the move.

Winners: Sheamus, Bourne, Kingston and Gabriel, at 4:40. Okay action. Otunga jobbed out again, but he and McGillicutty didn’t look completely out of place or anything.

-Chad Patton was backstage talking to Triple H. He said he was concerned about his welfare and the safety of other referees after last night. Hunter referred to him by his first name and told him to bring Miz and Truth to him the second they walk in the door. ADR charged in and complained about the three-way. Hunter asked Del Rio if he prefers his rematch tonight. Del Rio said he needs to rest himself mentally and physically. Hunter said the conversation is over. ADR said he prays for Vince to come back and run things. Hunter told him to keep praying because he’s been in HiaC and ADR will need all the prayers he can take. The Vince reference, not to mention the reference to someone “higher on the ladder” than Hunter pulling strings makes me think he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

[Commercial Break]

-Cole plugged WWE.com for exclusive photos and videos of Night of Champions.

-Ricardo Rodriguez introduced Alberto Del Rio for the next match.

(2) Alberto Del Rio vs. John Cena
Hey, Mike Chioda is back! Del Rio worked the throat of Morrison, then immediately locked in the cross arm-breaker. He aggressively pulled on the arm and Morrison quickly tapped.

Winner: Del Rio, at :49. Ah, John Morrison. Basic booking here to put Del Rio over quickly after the loss last night.

-Hugh Jackman is up next.

[Commercial Break]

-They showed the exterior of the arena in Cleveland.

-Justin Roberts introduced Hugh Jackman. Fans are more receptive when they aren’t coming out every week. He came to the ring and played to the crowd, and ran the ropes. Jackman said he was excited to be here for Raw. He said he hosted the Oscars, but they’re not held in 15,000 screaming fans in Cleveland. Jackman plugged his movie “Real Steel” until Vickie Guerrero walked out doing the “excuse me” bit. “Ew, what is she wearing?” asked my girlfriend. Dolph Ziggler was in tow. She got to the ring and told Jackman she was his biggest fan. She agreed with People Magazine, which said he was the sexiest man alive. He said it was a few years ago. Vickie asked if he agreed that she’s the hottest WWE Diva. Jackman said she IS a Diva. She introduced her representative Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler said he didn’t jump on the set of Batman when Jackman was yelling at a PA, so he doesn’t appreciate Jackman using his time, time that could’ve been used for a celebration. He said he successfully defended his US Title last night against men, not robots (“sorry Mason Ryan,” he said).

Ziggler talked about how Cleveland is a city of underdogs and that Jackman coaches a team of underdogs in his movie. Jackman asked Ziggler if he was staring him down. Ziggler said “underdog” is just another word for “loser.” The fans were offended. Jackman came to the defense of Cleveland and he told Vickie to get her client under control. Jackman said he’d go back to the locker room, find the biggest underdog, and help him challenge Ziggler to a match. Good heat for that and a good job by Jackman. “We want Ryder” chants by the fans. JAckman acknowledged the chants and went to ringside. He grabbed a sign that said “Ryder > Wolverine.” Jackman looked to want to say something else, but I think they had already cut his mic. Jackman enthusiastically ran to the back with the sign.

-Miz and Truth arrived in a limo. Laurinaitis approached them and said Triple H wants to see them immediately. Miz apologized to Laurinaitis and Truth told them they’d be right there. John told them to let him know how it goes. The tag team looked a bit nervous to have to face the boss.

[Commercial Break]

-Sin Cara came out for his match. It was the real Sin Cara. Crowd didn’t pop as big, maybe because they don’t know which Cara this is. Cody Rhodes walked out and still had the bag men/associates. Before the match could star, the Sin Cara music played and the other Sin Cara walked out. The announcers couldn’t decide who was the real Sin Cara. They circled each other once again and did the boos/cheers. Somehow, the WWE Universe knew despite JR saying they were just as confused. The fake Sin Cara attacked, but the real one dodged some offense, as did the other. They traded headscissors and the original sent the heel to ringside. He faked coming off the top, but moonsaulted back into the ring. The fake one backed up the ramp, keeping his eyes on the ring.

-Miz and Truth walked into Hunter’s office and groveled. Miz said they thought the ref was part of the conspiracy, but not Triple H. He said they were sorry and Truth apologized to Hunter, the WWE Universe, and all the Little Jimmys. He said they won’t do anything like that again. He said they love being WWE Superstars and Hunter’s doing a hell of a job as COO. Triple H said since they put their hands on an official, he’s fining the $250,000 each. Good precedent to set. Before he kicked them out of his office, he put them in a match with CM Punk and John Cena.

-JR’s interview with Mark Henry is next.

[Commercial Break]

-Stills aired of Henry vs. Orton.

-Teddy Long was apparently at ringside and he was walking back up the ramp when they came back to the arena. JR was in the ring and said Long informed him that Orton has invoked his rematch clause, and the rematch will take place at Hell in a Cell. JR then introduced Henry. I have a bad feeling something’s going to happen to JR here. He asked Henry how it felt to prove the naysayers wrong. Henry accused JR of being one of them. Henry said he’s never been in Hell in a Cell and doesn’t know much about it, but he did a number on Orton and he’ll do it again. Fans are chanting “what,” totally killing the mood. Henry said he’d never forgive JR or the rest of the people because they never supported him or believe in him. Henry told JR to apologize on behalf of them. Henry said Ross wasn’t high on him and wanted Vince McMahon to fire him. He was injury-prone, an overachiever (I think he meant underachiever). He held up the belt and pointed to it, saying everything that needs to be said is right there.

Ross apologized and Henry said he hates ass-kissers. He grabbed JR by the tie and wrapped it around his fist. He began choking Ross with it. “You’re hurting me,” said Ross as Henry trash-talked him. Lawler ran in to make the save, trying to convince Henry to let him go. Lawler got a great babyface reaction. Henry knocked Ross’ hat off his head as JR was about to pass out. Henry finally let him go, but grabbed Lawler. Henry said Lawler would take his place. Lawler started punching Henry, but Henry shrugged them off. World’s Strongest Slam followed. Henry kicked Lawler out of the ring, then went to ringside. He began to dismantle the announce table. Of all the announcers to attack, and he leaves Cole RIGHT THERE? He tossed Lawler over the announce desk, then gave him the World’s Strongest Slam through it. Fine Henry segment infected by the “we must embarrass JR” edict. Henry took the title and walked out as medics and referees tended to Lawler. Lots of close-ups of Henry as he trekked up the ramp.

[Commercial Break]

-Lawler was being helped to the back out of break. They replayed what happened that got us to that point.

-Josh Mathews joined Cole on commentary as they discussed what just happened.

(3) Eve Torres & Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix & Natalya
Beth pounded away on Kelly to start, but Kelly got a boot to the boob on a corner charge. Headscissors into the turnbuckle by Kelly. Eve tagged in and applied some weak kicks to Beth, so Beth kicked her down herself. Double shoulder-tackle after tag to Natalya. She got a two-count at 1:09. Cole has been quite competent tonight thus far. Eve fought out of the heel corner and rolled Nattie up after a missed corner charge. That got the three-count.

Winners: Kelly and Eve, at 1:46. Okay, I officially have no idea where this booking is going.

-Jackman was backstage. He said the guy is never on Raw, the Divas hate him, and he made up an Internet Championship. The camera panned back and showed Zack Ryder. He told Jackman WWWYKI. Jackman called him pathetic…and perfect for the guy he’s looking for. They left the locker room and headed, presumably, to the ring.

-A reminder for the main event tag match: Cena and Punk vs. Truth and Miz.

[Commercial Break]

-They showed the Rock ‘N Roll Hall-of-Fame in Cleveland.

-A preview of Real Steel was shown.

(4) Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder
Jackman accompanied Ryder to the ring and even wore the Ryder headband. Ziggler walked into a right hand and rolled Ziggler up for two. “Let’s go Ryder” chant. This is how you use a guest host. Another cover by Ryder in the corner for two. “Are you serious bro?” he asked the ref. Superkick by Ziggler, then he stomped away at Long Island Iced Z. Neck-breaker followed that. Ziggler kept getting distracted with Jackman and Ryder rolled him up for two again. Dropkick by Ziggler for two. Ryder fought out of a rest-hold as Cole was a little more restrained in knocking Internet nerds. Double clothesline at 2:20 and both men were down. Vickie slapped Ryder, so she got kicked out. As the ref tended to that situation, Jackman got on the apron and punched Ziggler. It looked like it connected. Rough-Ryder Leg-drop for the win.

Winner: Ryder, at 3:06. Fun stuff.

-Still to come: Punk and Cena vs. Truth and Miz.

[Commercial Break]

-A hype video aired for Jack Swagger.

-Vickie was shown watching the video on a monitor backstage. Swagger showed up (in a suit- he must be COO!) and said she had to admit that was impressive. Swagger told her if she wanted to meet Hugh, he could arrange it. She seemed excited. Didn’t she already meet him? And doesn’t she not like him? Vickie said she’d love to have him in the stable. He kissed her hand then walked away, right past Ziggler, nursing his sore cheek.

-CM Punk was backstage working on his neck. He turned around to see a smiling John Cena. Cena called themselves the new Rock ‘N Roll Express. That’s an interesting choice. Punk said he wouldn’t go that far, but Cena said they’re more alike than he thinks. Crowd was all “Let’s Go Cena/CM Punk.” Cena talked of the HiaC match…if Punk makes it there. He said Hunter is going to fire someone and Punk could be history. Punk countered by saying it’d be a shame if Cena was the first WWE Champion fired.

-Mathews and Cole talked about Hell in a Cell, then a video package was shown on it.

-Miz and R-Truth came out. They did the remix to Truth’s music. Then they went to break.

[Commercial Break]

(5) Awesome Truth vs. CM Punk & John Cena
Justin Roberts held “JEEEEEEOOOOONNNNNNNNN” of John Cena’s name particularly long tonight. Miz apologized to referee Charles Robinson right before things got started. Cena with a bulldog and quick cover on Miz for two. Double-team by Punk and Cena, and it was a hip-toss. Punk with a pin attempt on Truth for two. Truth has “Shut Up” across the butt of his pants. Loud chants for Punk. Bodyslam, then a tag to Cena for pretty good heel heat. More double-teaming and Cena got two on a pin. Tag to Miz and he came in to face Cena, but did so slowly. Drop toe-hold, but couldn’t lock in the finisher. AA was avoided too and Miz kicked Cena in the knee and hit the low DDT. That got two and they went to break at 3:11 of the match.

[Commercial Break]

Back at 6:33 with Miz connecting on a running boot to a seated Cena. It got a two-count. Second attempt at that move missed, but he hit his “vintage” neck-breaker/back-breaker combo. Miz got upset at Robinson for the two-count so Truth tried to restrain Miz and play peacemaker. Truth tagged in and kept up the offense. Cena drew even with Truth at 8:25 of the match. Clothesline by Truth and he dragged Cena back to the heel corner. Left hands by Miz as Mathews chided Cole for his outdated reference. Finally, someone shows a backbone when announcing with Cole. Cena almost made the tag, but Truth came in first and rolled Cena back to the heel corner. With the ref’s back turned, Miz didn’t interfere despite Cena lying nearly at his feet. Right hand put Cena down. Cover got two and Truth got upset at the ref. He tagged Miz, who trash-talked Punk. That allowed Cena to come back, nail Truth, but couldn’t capitalize as Miz took him down again. Cena rolled out of the way to avoid a Miz charge and he was able to make the hot tag to Punk. Punk flew around the ring with his high-octane offense. Running knee in the corner, then a “hi ma!’ and a bulldog. Flying clothesline on Miz, then he proclaimed it nap time. Miz elbowed out of the GTS, then was dropkicked into Truth. Miz walked right into a GTS for the end.

Winners: Punk and Cena at 13:12.

Before they could do too much celebrating, Triple H came out. With little hesitation, he fired Truth and Miz. The two men charged into the back as the entire locker room was shown watching on the monitors backstage. Scott Stanford tried to get a word with Hunter, but Miz and Truth attacked him from behind. The entire roster separated the three men. Swagger, William Regal and Wade Barrett had a hold of Truth and threw him out. Titus O’Neill and Brodus Clay tossed Miz out of the arena. A pissed Hunter walked back in and out of the camera shot.

Foley, Foley, Foley! Anyway It probably better Miz and Truth were fired probably as they never could pay that kind of a fine.

I was thinking it woulda been funnier if they had to pay their fine before they could compete.

The plot thickens. Assuming they don't come back next week (and who the hell knows anymore?), this should be a nice vacation for Truth and Miz. I fully expect to see them back at the PPV, along with Nash, running interference in the main event. But man, that was an entertaining exit. I remember Chris Jericho saying that this is how he's always wanted to make his exit from wrestling. Miz pretty much lived Jericho's dream for him.

I'm officially tired of Super Dave Laurinaitis. He's Vince McMahon without the charisma. I hope he's off my TV soon, but won't hold my breath.

Thanks for showing up, John Morrison!

The E can go to hell for having Mark Henry humiliate JR for the hundredth time, while SPARING JOSH MATTHEWS LAST NIGHT! Aside from Cole, I want to see that little toolbox get a beatdown more than anyone.

Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara is the biggest case yet of why the E shouldn't book for schmucks like us. No one in the crowd could tell who was who and the result was pure apathy. I'm certain this is the part of the evening where CRZ calls us all Super Geniuses (tm).

They booed and cheered pretty strongly for the right Sin Caras when they played to the fans, but once they actually started wrestling, the fans didn't seem to know how to react.

I wonder if the "real" Sin Cara was told to purposefully leave some of his blonde hair out of the mask as a way of people knowing which was which.

Probably the fake Sin Cara will have the blonde hair next week, just to mix it up. They do have to sort-of make it easy for the crowd to tell who is who, or they won't be any reaction.

No Orton tonight. And Morrison is now the #1 jobber on the show. And stupid logic... ADR didn't feel like competing for the title tonight, but instead takes a match with Morrison, and agreeing to a triple threat match? Wouldn't you want the champ one on one?

Oh, and they are advertising Cena, Punk, and ADR in a triple threat match in Columbia, SC on Nov 28th (I'm sure it will be the dark match after Raw goes off)

I could have used another 45 minutes of Sin Caras flipping each other around, myself. The Bellas needed to be out there cheering the Sin Caras on.

As the biggest Kelly Kelly fan on here even I have to say the Divas of Doom booking is beyond ridiculous. Are they Divas of Doom or Keystone Cops? Even Wile E. Coyote had moments where he displayed more smarts and competence.

If nothing else, I take great pride at being the one here on The W who coined the increasingly accurate phrase: "WWE has real small plans for John Morrison." They just keep proving it apt.

The real controversy: WHO SHUT OFF HUGH JACKMAN'S MICROPHONE?!?!

geemoney is on the money; that's how you use a guest star to put someone over. Well, that and you have them face Curt Henning 2.0. Dolph Ziggler, simply put, has reached that level. As a heel, in the ring, on the mic, he's reached that stage.

I'm a big Zack Ryder mark, so I'm loving the attention he's getting. And he certainly got some chants his way tonight, plus the rub from Jackman.

Again, angle continuation . People were spazzing last night but they have to know none of this is over, and probably won't be blown off until Survivor Series. The real speculation should be whose out to screw Cena, Punk, AND Triple H?

Liked the show, and giving more time to non main event stories is why. I like a little variety on Raw, not just mindless wrestling action for no reason and one frakkin storyline.

A triple threat match, allowing Del Rio a clean win in a baptism-of-fire environment without Cena or Punk doing a one-on-one job. Pretty sneaky, WWE!

I don't mind Mark beating up JR due to their backstage history as Mark was pointing out. I am just glad they didn't make Lawler beat up Mark like he did with Miz earlier this year. I am beyond caring about the "Higher Power" storyline. This could have been achieved with Punk winning at Night of Champions. Punk's promo reeked of guy who didn't want to get beat up by a bully. He was complaining about the pain he was in while HHH walked out with a fresh suit and not a scratch on him. They really did nothing to help Punk. Instead of Punk creating change, we get a HHH storyline that will be just as bloated and confusing as their last big storylines yet HHH will once again come out on top with out changing a thing.

This interminable Vickie relationship has sandbagged him, yet he continues to bring it. He's the goods. Jackman shows that a theatre veteran has a much easier time in front of the WWE universe than a TV star. He couldn't be rattled. And Ziggler matched him line for line.

Then we see Swagger, stiff as Lurch, trudging through his lines and marks as if a smaller man was wearing a Swagger suit. I like him in the ring. But he had a very small window of competent, entertaining mic time against Big Show. He needs a Vickie to speak for him, not give him someone to share dialogue with.

Super Punk cleaned house like a main eventer.

I completely forgot that Henry ever had a different hairdo. I didn't recognize him in the flashback video.

If this weren't the same night as Gatti/Ward 3 I would definitely drive to see that, if only to get my photo taken with Superfly Snuka.
