As much fun as it was checking out some of the angles and matches that made Raw this year...I found it disappointing that they didn't show the Flair tribute, even though it was advertised.

I am curious to know WHY they made a recap show, though. I mean, tape Raw on a Saturday, and show it Monday...but save the recap for the Velocity/Confidential timeslot. It's pretty much a given that recap shows don't fare well in the ratings.

Anyhow...anyone see it and want to comment?

I'm all ready to make a big thread review on it. But you beat me to it while writing it out. I don't mind a best of show, even though I usually enjoy the christmas humor during Christmas shows, ahh Angle saying Santa's a pervert, E&C bringing out all of Kurt's brothers, Rock's 12 days of Christmas. (I guess there will be some on SD)... I wonder what they'll do for Heat, I'm guessing just more recaps I'm glad I'm not the only person who was expecting the Flair after Raw celebration to be on this show.

-Michaels vs. Jericho (WM19)- I personally voted this as Match of the Year. This match was just special, the emotion of the crowd going back and forth. The fans were biting into everything even the possible respect Jericho was giving Michaels at the end... Jericho showing up Michaels by doing HBK moves like the kip up, just classic! Great match,

-Victoria vs. Stratus (Chicago street fight)- Almost a year later still amazes me. The best North American women match in my memory. Those girls were just going at it as hard as possible and what really got me was the flow of the match was so smooth. Another interesting aspect was how they won the crowd over who at the start were doing the annoying puppies chant but quickly became fixated with the action on were on their feet for the majority of the match... Really glad they honored the women's work by having this match.

-RVD vs. Christian (IC ladder match)- They showed a lot of this match that went two segments. Some fantastic ladder spots from RVD and Christian... I would say probably free TV match of the year. The crowd again was just loving RVD.

-Goldberg vs. Rock (Backlash)- Probably worst segment of the show. Did Goldberg do anything more then spears in this match? Rock looked great in this match, but Rock is such a natural he always looks fantastic... This match wasn't much of a stand out, if they wanted a Goldberg match, his match with Jericho was a lot better and if they wanted a Rock match, his match with Austin was way better.

-Austin vs. Bischoff (No Mercy)- Sure this match was hardly a match. Austin beating the tar out of Eric was all it was... But the emotion from the crowd of Austin return was a sight to see and hear.

-Kane vs. Shane (Survivor Series)- I didn't really notice the first time how Kane took a total header when he was knocked over the ropes by Shane early in the match. I guess after a pretty surreal build up to the match they did put Kane over decently strong in this final match.

-HHH vs. Flair (World title)- A very good match, just seeing a legend like Flair doing all his tricks of the trade was a joy to watch. Only problem was even at that time I knew there was no way Flair was winning, even though they did their damnedest to try to sell it. Wait a second didn't they say they were going to show the after Raw celebration with Ric Flair last week?. Did I misunderstand... Anyone else notice Kevin Nash music being played right after the HHH pin, they tried to cut if it but it sneaked in there. They followed that match with a Nash walk in! I didn't remember that.

-Orton/Henry/Christian/Steiner/Y2J vs. HBK/Dudleyz/RVD/ Booker (Survivor Series)- Hopefully this match is remembered when next years RSPW is being done. A very solid and strong build through out. Amazing storytelling and emotion. They showed a very good chunk of the match with a decent focus on every elimination.

-Other Stuff - The played Evanescence "my immortal" while showing footage of WWE superstars who passed away, Stu Hart, Crash, Elizabeth, Hawk, Hennig and Blassie were all featured... Stacy came in with the most obvious product placement skit I've seen in a long time. She chooses King over Coach, umm no comment there... Clips from RAW X was shown... Recap of Foley/Orton of last week and Austin saying he'll miss the heck out of us, in not so many words (aww what a nice guy).

WWE Moments of the year were: Goldberg makes WWE debut... Jericho kisses Trish... Vince gives Bischoff a month to turn Raw around, the adventures of Eric trying to find Stone Cold... Kane unmasks and goes on a rampage... Hurricane hiding in Rock's lockerroom, really upsetting the Rock because Rock likes walking around nekkid... Flair saying to HHH he will not lay down for him... My personal Fav. The Rock rock concert in Sacramento, JUST Classic!... Bischoff and Mae Young, NOT Classic... They actually showed a quick ad clip of Goldust and Molly & Gail attacking Lita

An entertaining 2 hours. They showcased some real great matches, the first 3 matches were top notch which gave a very good first 45 minutes. The last two matches were great too which finished a strong last half hour of the show. The middle part, I could think of some better matches with those individual involved but it wasn't too bad... Must say I was shocked that HHH was only in one match LoL. Lil' Naitch Charles Robinson was in a bunch of matches especially in the first hour, just something I noticed. Another thing I noticed was that next week there's no MNF and I'm sure coincidentally HHH is having a very heavily hyped week. Damn I'm so cynical LoL

That was a pretty good show, all things considered. Really nice to see the Flair-HHH match, and I do give credit to HHH for the job he did in that match. I also thought they were going to do the tribute, and was very disappointed to not see it.

So I'm not crazy ... I thought for sure that they DID advertise the Flair tribute ... I was afraid that I had missed it while watching Favre rip the Raiders a new one.

I was watching Confidential on Saturday, and when they aired the commercial for last night's RAW, they edited out the Flair post-show tribute, and instead advertised Flair's promo on Triple H. I guess it was a last minute decision. They might have thought that since the post-show tribute is such a big part of the DVD, that it'd be best not to air it on free TV.

False advertising. What a gyp. During the year, I've taped all the good matches I wanted to keep. The only reason I watched last night was to see the Flair tribute that they advertised on last week's RAW.

The reasoning was probably a last-minute decision to save the footage, so that more people keep buying the DVD. Well, that footage alone is not going to sell the DVD to anyone, I believe. It would have been good to show on free TV, because having seen it and liked it, that might be enough to convince someone to buy the DVD - someone who was iffy before seeing the tribute. It's common sense, but that's the WWE.

Don't advertise something in hopes of getting ratings and then not show it. Nothing anyone can say will justify WWE's false advertising enough.

They didn't show the Flair tribute? Are you sure? Positive? Because I woke up this morning, and everything was normal. It wasn't raining fire, my sink faucet didn't pour blood, and I haven't seen the dead rising from their graves.

Seriously, did anyone watch the show just to see the Flair tribute?

It's not as unlikely as you're making it out up above, I think. Perhaps a last-minute decision to not show an egregious breaking of kayfabe on television after all? Nah, probably DVD-sales motivated. Occam's Razor and all that

Rock looked the exact opposite of great in this match. Even eight months later I'm *still* yelling at the television "For fuck's sake, Rock, GET THE FUCK UP SO HE CAN SPEAR YOU ALREADY." Not to mention that was the night they debuted that horrible theme music for him - a fact underscored that previous to that match they replayed his debut (with perfectly fine original theme music).

Shit, I'm glad they DIDN'T show the tribute to Flair. I'm getting the DVD on X-mas and I would've felt jipped that they DID show it. Plus, don't you guys all have the DVD anyway? Just go watch it there.

What I enjoyed was the cross-section of matches. There were some PPV matches and some Raw matches. While I had seen all the Raw matches, I like many others hadn't seen all the PPV stuff. This made the show easily worthy viewing. I am very happy that I got to see most of the tremendous SurSer Austin/Bischoff match. Good show all around, and I'm glad that they didn't show the Flair footage.

Damn you WWE for making me change my sig. I'm sure you have good enough reasons to get rid of Shannon, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Let me thus be the first to say: BRING BACK DAFFNEY!
