FULL WWE RATINGS REPORT
by Dave Scherer @ 5:01:00 PM on 3/30/2004

This week's edition of Raw did a 4.3 cable rating, with a 7 share, according to Nielsen Media Research. That is down from last week's 4.5 but is still above the show's recent average. The highest rated quarter hour of the show was the 4.8 that they did for the overrun. The show did hours of 4.1 and 4.5.

In other ratings news, the Raw replay from 3/28 did a 1.7 cable rating, with a 2 share.

Heat, which preceded it, did a 1.0 cable rating, with a 2 share.

The 3/27 edition of Velocity did a 0.8 cable rating, with a 1 share.

The 3/27 edition of Confidential did a 0.8 cable rating, with a 2 share.

Okay, so... HHH jobbing = ratings. Wow, I wish I had thought of that.

Nice to see them break 4 for back to back weeks, that is an encouraging sign. Even more encouraging is that they almost popped a 5 rating for the overrun involving Shelton Benjamin, which means either the fans might buy him as someone to start building up seriously, or they thought the match would suck and they were sitting around waiting for Austin to come out and drive around in circles for the last 5 minutes of the show. Hopefully, its because they actually saw Trip building someone up, rather than waiting for Godot, I mean Austin. And, a healthy difference in the overrun surrounding Benjamin than those involving Randy Orton. Perhaps Randy Orton doesn't have 'it', while Benjamin does.

Why is TVLand stealing my ideas from DEAN's Workrate Report's? They had to be stealing, as I thought I had the only demented mind that could put Bea Arthur and Abe Vigoda in a sex scene.

And what wrestler main evented these two shows?

Triple H.

Who said that he can't draw ratings?

Triple H main events a LOT of shows, many of which have scored decent ratings, many of which score lousy ratings, so no - it ain't Triple H's credit. You've got to think beyond simply one or two weeks.

If anything, its a combo of interest left over from last weeks lottery combined with some interest in Benjamin. (or just the former)

I tuned in for the two RAWs following WM, after not watching wrestling for months. What I saw wasn't interesting, and I did not tune in last monday.

What I did not like:
+I've seen all these people in all their current personnas for years now.
+I HATED that John Cena character. What is he supposed to be? Vanilla Ice II? He sounded stupid. Also not a good sign when you have to wear the home town jersey to get reactions from people.

John Cena doesn't get crowd reactions just by wearing their hometown sports jerseys. That's like saying the only thing getting Mick Foley heat in 2000 were his thumbs-up pops. It's pretty ridiculous to judge a character's ability and overness based on watching one night of television, which you seem to have done.

I'm surprised with the high rating, it was a good show on Monday but I thought after the lottery hype it would quickly go down to high 3's maybe 4.0's if their lucky... Maybe Sklokland is right, HHH + jobbing = profit/ratings. *Looks at the Raw roster* okay he's jobbed to Benoit and Benjamin that takes care of the B's. Let's move to the C's he must job to Christian and Coach

Great point Redsox, there was no push of Austin on screen at all this week. No need for him to waste 7-minute just to cut a promo for the sake of cutting a promo just for him to be out there.

A 1.7 rating for the Raw Encore on Sunday. Is that a good rating? It sounds good. I've always found it strange that they don't replay Raw. I don't think it would take away from the original broadcast and you don't have to waste Smackdown time with a Raw recap.

**April 1, Smackdown Rating Added**

Pwinsider
-This week’s edition of Smackdown did a 3.2 broadcast rating, with a 5 share. That is down from last week’s show, which was adjusted up to a 3.4 after initially being released by Nielsen as a 3.3. It should be noted that the show was preempted in Philadelphia and Atlanta.

So Smackdown did a 3.2 with hours of (3.2, 3.2) down from last weeks 3.4(3.4, 3.4)... But the number is hard to read because of the preemptions, maybe it would have broken even with last weeks number, but last weeks SD number was nothing to jump for joy for.

smark/net attack wienerville advisory stays at BLUE alert - Guarded (With Benoit & Eddie being World & WWE champions you'd expect the alert to be Green but couldn't do it due to Trish/Y2J character switches)- 3/16

Remember this with the SD number the previous 2 weeks compared to this week: NCAA Basketball pre-empted Survivor. Though I'm a basketball fan, that does have lower ratings than Survivor, thus a higher rated show in the timeslot opposite SD would mean a lesser audience for SD. And, off tangent a bit, but has anyone ever figured out why Viacom throws its highest rated UPN show up against one of their marquee CBS shows? Wouldn't it make sense to make UPN stronger on a night that CBS might be weak, thus at least causing a greater audience overall for the Viacom networks? Why fragment relative strength for UPN with strength for CBS?

I thought this was superb. It was an exciting, action-packed match which put the Royal Rumble to shame. I haven't caught a great deal of LU, but this episode definitely turned me into a fan.
