Well, once again we're back to the high threes. I was really rooting for it to stay above the in the fours but I guess all the hype after mania has finally worn off.

from Wrestlezone.com
Last night's edition of WWE RAW scored a 3.8 cable rating, with a 6.0 share, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The lead topic on PTI today was how bad the Championship Game was rated. Something like off ten percent from last year and off thirty percent from two years ago. Lowest rated title game ever. So it was a bad night for ratings i guess.

A bit more informaton on Raw
-WWE RAW fell to a 3.8 rating this week off hours of 3.5 and 4.0. That is down from a 4.3 last week and a 4.5 the week before. The highest rated segment was the overrun which did a 4.6.-

3.8 of hours of (3.5, 4.0) way down from last weeks 4.3(4.1, 4.5)... Not a good sign that your best hour can't reach the previous weeks worse hour. Hopefully it was something to do with the NCAA finals but I don't think it is. This weeks show was poor IMO so I'm not that upset but a part of me is rooting for Raw to stay above 4.

**April 8, Smackdown Rating Added**

Smackdown did a 3.0 with hours of (2.8, 3.2) which is down from last weeks 3.2 (3.2, 3.2)... A real amazing thing about this poor rating is that it actually beat ABC at 9PM as the second hour of SD got a slightly higher rating then Kingdom Hospital(whatever that is) on ABC.

Smackdown is just so uninteresting for me now, I haven't even watched the show yet so can't really comment on it being overall good or bad, but if my interest going in counts for anything it certainly goes with a lower rating... The new Bradshaw character is better then the APA one and kind of fun but I'm not interested in him in the main event at all.

A 2.8 hour on a network broadcast (if they are going to call UPN a network, it has to be treated as one), is pathetic. They actually appeared to be building momentum a few weeks back, but the focus on trying to get Bradshaw over has killed the momentum. Heel they are trying to build for a stand alone PPV main event has the opening 15 minutes of the show and the hour gets sub 3? The conspiracy theorist has to question whether they are intentionally trying to tank SD in order to get it canceled by UPN in order to shop it elsewhere.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I just said.

First of all - how has building a new (and very interesting) heel, which is desperately needed, killed their momentum? It's not all about the short-term ratings. Bradshaw (gulp) is a long-term investment - new top heels and faces often dip the ratings a little bit, esp. when there is just no one else on the roster who is a major star. I think people focus way too much on the immediate ratings and ignore what building up strong characters will do for future ratings.

Second, that conspiracy theory is just silly on a lot of different levels, but kudos for thinking of it.

RAW wasn't near as compelling as last week... there wasn't really anything they built up to, just a main event interview segment. I'd easily take HHH/Benjamin over that, and apparently a lot of fans would take a wrestling main event than just a setup for the next week's show. Stuff like that should be kept to the first hour, especially since there wasn't really any suspense to it... I saw the 8-man tag setup and Evolution beatdown coming a mile away; whereas I had no idea what would happen with HHH/Benjamin last week. Simple stuff.

Problem is that Bradshaw isn't fresh. Whatever improvements he's made over the past few weeks, he's still viewed as a perennial midcarder/tag teamer who's all of a sudden being given a main event push without any real reason besides the gimmick change. Eddie-Bradshaw is NOT a money-making feud, it's something that should at most have a blowoff match on free TV, or like Lesnar/Holly not be made the focal point of a PPV. Building your top feud around BRADSHAW of all people isn't going to draw in ratings, now or down the line.

By the way, this is now the 2nd straight week that SD! has been main evented by an interview segment, which is pretty weak considering that wrestling is supposed to be the strength of that show. Eddie hasn't wrestled, Bradshaw hasn't wrestled, Cena's been in squashes, Undertaker hasn't even been on TV... the rosters are thin, but better to utilize your talent somehow than just thinking interview segments are actually doing to draw ratings.

Hmm... Brock Lesnar bores me and I think part of the reason is that I want Rock to win. I think this Goldberg push is going to kill him. Rock and many other WWE superstars are light years ahead of him isn't not even funny.
