Yeah, but look at the bright side: It will be 40 minutes of Triple H heel, not HHH: worst top face ever. A few weeks back when he mugged for the camera when being interviewed by Mark Lyod I realized how god awful he was as a face, and how badly he needed to be a heel (and everyone knows that the only good mugging to the camera was by Raven in that skit with Kanyon in WCW). Now we don't have to listen to the announcers telling us how awesome and what a great guy HHH is, at least. We are going to be stuck with him no matter what, so at least we are getting the best version.

I hardly think that there were 40 minutes of HHH promos...

20 minute opening interview, two quick backstage segments, and the DX thing was probably under 10 minutes... unless there was something I missed, that's just barely over a half hour and most of the 20 minute opening was Eazy E and HBK anyways so that hardly counts as a HHH promo...

I'm just not seeing any reason for HHHate from last nights show, sorry.

I really liked the Raw last night. They had a great ladder match to start the show. Makes you wonder why people pay for the PPV; when the better matches are on Raw.
RVD vs. Benoit will be a great match. Eddie finally gets the match he wanted since Austin left. The Triple H thing was just to turn him heel, I didn't think he was a good face, not as over as they would like to think. The pedigree is great when he hits it, but he really botched it last night. HBK was way over as a face for standing up to the ultra-heel Bishoff. I like Rhyno also, didn't at first but he grows on me. He is also damn fast for his size.

Funny thing is I watched the whole show, but missed Brock leaving for Smackdown...I saw Taker hit him with a cane. I like the focus more on wrestling matches and less on McMahon/Bishoff speeches.

No CRZcap = long post to talk about Raw!

They were all over the place on this one. If it had been an In Your House, it might have been IYH: Good Matches, Bad Booking. Or something.

I really liked that they had three pretty big matches and all were worth watching, with two of them being really terrific with the limited time of TV. RVD/Jeff was, I guess, was the least of the three. It was still good, but there's a certain expectation that having the two of them in another ladder match creates and they didn't quite take it all the way there. But it was still good outside of being shorter than a ladder match with the existence of an entire belt at stake should have been. The spot I was hoping for and this match and didn't get: having both Jeff and the ladder down on the mat with RVD perched up top so he could do that "Do I hit the Five Star on Jeff...or the ladder?!" hesitation that he does whenever multiple objects present them selves for frog splash-ery.

I'm not crazy about the story around this part of the show, though. Now that they've finally opened the doors to moving people between shows, they have a means to get the Euro title over to SmackDown. Having the Euro title there would be the perfect thing for all the new, young guys like Cena, Orton and Baustista and some of the less used people like Faarooq, Henry and Test (if Storm and Christian are tagging) and instead, they just get rid of it? That's really backwards and shortsighted, missing a problem that bringing in the new people has created and an easy solution towards giving a bunch of people a new goal. But it does bring to a close the international turmoil that began in 1997 when France refused to recognize Rocky Maivia's Intercontinental title reign and Europe followed suit, necessitating the creation of a European title. Welcome back to the global community, my European brethren.

Booker/Benoit was awesome for a short-ish free TV match. Lots of nifty little things in there like the new wrinkle to the German Suplex suite and just a nice level of the two guys unloading some pretty hard shots on each other. It's cool to see two guys who know how to bring out the better sides of their stuff together. The spot I was hoping for in this match and didn't get: Benoit going up top for the diving headbutt and Booker avoiding it by doing a Spineroonie to move himself out of the way.

It seemed a little anti-climactic to have Bischoff building up Benoit and the Booker/Benoit rivalry and the payoff being just an IC spot. It's cool that they're putting at least three (more to come, I bet) super-talented guys together in the same area, naturally. It's just weird how they're maintaining the balance of not having anyone of this group of potentially breakout (RVD's past potentially, though) guys get any momentum going by checking their forward momentum with losses. Booker finally beats Big Show but loses to Benoit, who gets that win over Booker but gets taken out by Bubba Ray, who goes into a match against Show, who lost to Booker, and then there's RVD, who may or may not be on par with Brock depending on what they're doing that week, but he beat Jeff, who's better than Regal. I guess it's some kind of parity, which is good (though Bubba seemingly being the guy who looks the best is odd), but one of these guys deserves the faith of whoever's in charge to get a push before they lose the chance to strike - Booker especially, because he's holding his own while taking some losses, but that might not last forever.

Eddie vs. Rock was really great. As others have said, the Rock Bottom counter was awesomely awesome (what was that, an ipponzei?). It's neat, after all this time and people having matches with everyone, to come across a combination of two really great guys who haven't actually met yet. I don't think they have, anyway...Eddie was hurt before the Dallas Ten Man match. The poster part of their interview was a riot. Anyway, really cool match. The spot I wanted to see but didn't get: well, it's a ripoff of the Booker/Benoit one, but Rock doing his HBK kip-up to avoid a Frog Splash would have been neat. Hell with that, though, the armdrag thing was better.

Eddie losing, though, was a shame, if only because it means no rematch with them building out of this match, which Rock seems to embrace. (Did Rock lose some weight? He still looks in good shape, just less wide or broad or something.) Having the Brock confrontation kind of took away the drama, but I was still expecting Eddie to get a win here like Benoit got a big win over Rock in their big early match. Maybe he stays on the Rock on Raw, though, since Brock is now gone and Rock needs something to do on there.

As for Brock, the staredown with Rock was one of the better things he's done. He's still not quite there for me, and now his face/heel status is loopy with the StephDown alignment, but if he can't get the big time reaction with Rock in there whipping up the crowd and giving the classic Rock stares, it's just not going to work. This is his shot to make it work, it'll be interesting to see it play out.

So anyway, all that stuff was back and forth with fun matches and odd booking. I'll take that. Bischoff is back and forth, too. Sometimes he's overboard with "I'm Eric Bischoff!", sometimes he finds the groove in being the plastic bastard you love to hate. They SO had me with the picture on the wall behind he and Benoit...until they blew it by zooming in. Trust us, damn it! Eh, baby steps.

But anyway, the HHH saga, that I can do without in a major way. The guy wants to be Austin so bad that he throws in a pointless badmouthing of the guy right in the middle of his crackling romantic tension with HBK, but he's been trying to be Stone Cold with his SmackDown hostage shows and the "I'm in DX...only I'm not!" mirror of Austin wearing the suit for McMahon, and trying to make the Pedigree into the new shock move like the Stunner, even though it takes too long to do. Feh. No thanks-uh.

About the turning-into-Nitro thing...I think this would be a good running gag, with Bischoff doing things every week to turn it into Nitro in weird ways but never admitting to it. The announcing set up this week...maybe next week he brings out the giant, deadly C for the ramp down to the ring. Things to show that he's already trying to get more power than just Raw GM to set up the show where Vince has enough, but it's too late and Eric has already remade Raw in his image. Eh, I dunno, it could be funny, at least.

Well, first of all...(raises hand)

Even though I hated Nitro and Bischoff, last night's RAW was a stunning show. But there was one detail that has gone so unnoticed that I have to wonder if I hallucinated it.

As the show went off, and Steph's limo sped into the night, her mic was left on, and I swear I heard her screaming, "Fuck you, Eric!" over and over again.

Yet, nobody seems to have mentioned this anywhere, unless I just haven't gotten to it here on Weinerville yet.

Could somebody go back and check their tapes. I may need to clean my ears out or something. There's a chance they may have cut it out on the West Coast, but I'd SWEAR I heard her swear.

HHH was more fun to watch on RAW last night than he has been all year. Not only did he turn heel again, which was long overdue, but he pedgreed HBK. Still, what does it say when your finisher is named after dog food?

And was it just me, or when the Island Boys ran in, did it look like Public Enemy had been knawing away at Unca Eric's secret sammitch stash?

A moment of silence for the Euro belt. This now means that Mideon's title reign is now incorporated in the history of the IC belt.

So when are they gonna put the hardcore belt on Tommy Dreamer?

And send Bradshaw to Smackdown!.

Does Brock's defection mean that they're going to give away Brock vs. Angle on free TV?

*Raises Hand* (Think we've made our point? Too bad the hometown crowd didn't pop as big as the IWC did)

I just reviewed the tape, and it really DID sound like Stephanie was saying "Fuck you, Eric!" over and over again as she left... There's the dirty little girl I fell in love with.

Some good matches and decent promos, but I liked the little things in this show that made it good and at least seem like the creative team actually gives a damn about the product they are putting on tv at the moment.

Easy E asserting his personality on the show and Brock's mind games with Rocky.

It was a good decision to turn H with a DX reunion tease in having him take away something that the fans wanted, since there isn't much difference between the H heel and H face characters.

Also making Rock/Guerrero with the "if Eddy wins he gets a title shot stip" was the best decision they could have made for that match imo. That way the match had something riding on it, and made the fans believe Eddy had a legit chance of scoring a pinfall, rather than just making it for the title. A wwe title main event would've carried less heat since everyone would know Eddy has no chance at winning. It seems most people here wanted Eddy to win for a rematch, and I'm sure that scenario wouldn't have hurt Rock, but the bookers were probably thinking more about how it would affect Taker and Kurt. Having the guy who won against both Taker and Angle on PPV, job to the guy who got beat by Spike Dudley on that same PPV probably isn't the best thing to happen.

And, I didn't notice it at the time, but checking the tape it sure sounds like Steph is saying fuck you Eric.

Ah hell, I'll put in my 2 cents (which is what it's worth)

- The Benoit/Booker match was missing something. It was good, but I think the buildup that I had for it made it impossible for me to like it. If they had given it about 4 more minutes, maybe, but it didn't come close to Match #1 in the Best of 7 (which was ****1/2). I also chalk it up to the fact that it was Benoit's first singles since returning. I figure in 3 months, if they go at it again, it's top shelf.

- So HHH attacks HBK. How, exactly does that make him a heel? Anyway, I really don't want to see HBK/HHH because there is no way that it could live up to the hype. Shawn's just not healthy enough. Hell, Hogan took the Pedigree better. I'd rather HHH fued with RVD or Booker and help elevate them. If Shawn really wants to come back, at least give him some time to get into ring shape so he can take decent bumps.

- As good as the Rock is, and as much as I enjoyed that match, boy does he work loose. I saw about a foot of space between most of his kicks and half of his punches towards Eddy. I mean Jesus, I know it fake, but c'mon Rock, get a LITTLE closer with those strikes.

- I like the fact that they are playing up the whole Raw/Bishoff vs. Smackdown/Steph rivalry, but once again, they are putting the focus on the non-wrestlers. The fact that Eric and Steph get the most TV time (it seems) and the whole fued really revolves around them is hurting the product. Rock/Brock just seems secondary to the whole talent raids, which should really stop, as people will need a scorecard soon to keep track and no one want to think THAT hard while watching grown men in tights pretend to beat the snot out of each other.

- I think this Lesnar thing is going to fail, miserably. I like the guy and actually think that he CAN wrestle, but it's obvious that there are not going to do what it takes, which is pin all the upper card guys (CLEANLY). I don't mind him selling to people, cause it's unrealistic to do the whole "Brock is invincible" angle, but the fact that Paul always has to help him just makes him look like any other midcard heel. When he wins the title and the crowd reacts with sitting on their hands, that's when they'll know that the last 3 months have been a complete waste.

By the way, Storm's gimmick includes 1.) telling the audience to shut up, and 2.) occasionally making everyone stand for the Canadian national anthem. You know they don't know what to do with a wrestler when he's making fans stand for a national anthem. It's like waving a white flag and saying, "This guy has no personality -- we give up."

Allow me to put my hand in the air, and wave that mother-fucker like I just don't care.

Seeing my two favorite Samoan gangstas on tv warmed my heart. Yeah, it's great to see guys who can go, but being a big guy myself, I dig seeing the big guys who can go too (which explains why Undertaker will ALWAYS be an all time fave!).

You know what would be SO choice? Cripple H walks into the dressing room after a hard match to find Kurt wearing Steph's thighs like earmuffs. Trips freaks and has a roid assisted heart attack as Kurt and steph continue to "Go Olympic" on each other.

Alright, back to serious reality... For the thousands in attendance... For the MILLIONS watching at home... Who else besides me would LOVE to see the best of 7 series revisited (with or without an accompanying angle)?

Lyrics:
I gave a girl a ride in my wagon
She rolled in and took control
She was tired and her mind was a-draggin'
I said, "Get some sleep and dream of rock and roll."

Refrain:

Like a picture she was layin' there
Moonlight dancin' off her hair
She woke up and took me by the hand
She's gonna love me in my Chevy van
And that's all right with me

Her young face was like that of an angel
Her long legs were tanned and brown
Better keep your eyes on the road, son
Better slow this vehicle down

Refrain

I put her out in a town that was so small
You could throw a rock from end to end
A dirt-road Main Street, she walked off in bare feet
It's a shame I won't be passin' through again

I'm surprised only one person has mentioned the EAT's jobbing to being in a Nitro position; and yes, Virginia, JR has the proverbial bug-up-his-Resitol about the whole thing.

I just spit out my water, ya bastard!

I was happy with Raw overall; I worry about the over-doing of the smarminess of Bisch, but for now it's working fine.

I thought the only balls Raw had was Ben-wa-- I mean, Benoit.

Oh -- and I checked the tape... I concur -- it *reeeeeely* sounded like a "Fuck you, Eric" comment to me.

In my post I meant to write "NOW that is some long term shit," not "NOT that is some long term shit." If that makes any sense.

Anyway, my prediction for the love triangle? I'd say somewhere in 2017 when HHH finds out his 15 year old son is actually Angle's. Then they will have a handicap match, and HHH will squash Angle and his son because he is the Devil incarnate, and always will be. Then he will pedigree a near 80-year-old Vince Mcmahon.

**First off** Raises Hand...I've missed Rhyno.

My thoughts on Raw? A mixed bag...some people were entertained by Bischoff? Not for me. On Nitro he was BEING an arrogant, power mad, dick. On RAW, he just plays one...badly. He and Steffo make a hell of a good pair...acting wise.

Booker...loved it. You can just tell he's enjoying himself now.

HHH/HBK...eh. If trips has to be around, I'd rather have him as a heel. When I first saw him as "uber-heel" it worked for me. So, we'll see. As for Shawn? I'd be happy if I never saw him back. Between my younger days, and now, I completely missed the HBK hey-day. And now...he just seems...dorky.

Brock going to Smackdown? I'll like it if they give me the Angle/Brock match that I wanted at SummerSlam. Here's my take on the triple-threat at Vengeance....

"This is the match where we give Angle the best offense, the most convincing work and selling, then completely job him out because he's the most talented worker of the three."

AAAARRRGGGHHH!!....sorry. I just want to know, who does Angle need to kill to get a decent shot again?

Otherwise...RAW was...alright. A definite step in the right direction, if they reign in Bischoff's overacting.

It was good show last night. Eric brings something that's been missing, Benoit is back, and the NWO has had a stake driven through it's heart. The only bad thing is that the IV Horsemen had nothing to do with the NWO being killed, but whatever...
