All I have to say is that heel Flair OWNS. Crowd's chanting ___hole, and he says without missing a beat "quit taking about your mother like that, son".

And he knows how to milk the Mapleleafs thing....Leafs fans are ~INSANELY loyal to that team. Great opening segment.

Then it ends with Hogan vs Flair.

WELCOME TO NITRO!

EDIT: Why do I see in that match that either Undertaker turns NWO or Hogan does?
EDIT #2: I think the point of the match was to get Flair over as an egomaniac, and to get over Flair/Show vs Austin, as well as set up X-Pac vs Bradshaw for the PPV ( a likely match).

At least I wasn't the only one who checked to make sure Nitro hadn't taken over Raw without my knowing. We'll see how it turns out. (Note: this was said as Hogan v Flair began.)

Post-match: Maybe I missed the point of that, can someone enlighten me?

I guess I'll start with a Raw feedback thread here.

-Hardyz/Lesner - Ouch what an aboslute missed spot not once not twice but thrice with Jeff missing the jaw breaker. I gues Jeff interesting streak ended in one...I allow Matt 2 more weeks to wear that Lita shirt and then he will become pathetic (more so then he is already)

-Flair interview, very cool, pretty classic WCW Flair, got the crowd really worked up.

Eddie v. Stasiak - err, not much. RVD came out didn't wrestle for the night =( The after match trash talk was hella lame.

Molly v. Terri - what the hell (part 1) Molly is the female Chris Benoit she could carry anyone to a decent match.

Hogan v. Flair - I liked it, you have to go to this matches unlike you normally do and the only way to enjoy it is to get caught up in the hype and the moment and I did. It worked for me liked the ending as well.

Trish/Bubba v. Jazz/Stevie - As a Trish mark, I was loving this match. THe huge smile on Lilians face when Trish came out and the injury report on Jazz I pretty much knew the outcome. It was a fun hardcore, cute that Trish can't throw the trash can over the ropes and then after the match bubba couldn't either. Good night for Trish and I'm happy for her.

Bigshow/Xpac v. Bradshaw - could there be 3 people I can't stand to watch more then these 3. NO THERE CAN'T. I love that the match was dead and deservingly so. decen't chair shot to end it but not enough to save it.

Austin v. Booker - How much has the nWo fallen if I'm thinking this is a step back for Booker joining the lifesupport group then he is with Goldust. The match was pretty uneventful, Austin fighting the odds, crowd didn't seem to buy it either.

Backstage stuff - Austin's interviews are getting lamer and lamer, I was a big What guy, but it really has run it's course... Tommy "jackass" Dreamer day in a life, don't know how I feel, I thougth it was kinda funny...Goldust and Book were "golden" again, funny stuff, hope it's not over (do i say that every week?)... Regal finally found a woman for him.

And now my "what the hell" part 2 seeing hogan dragged around behind a cycle is surreal. That couldn't be really Hogan? could it? It was so over the top it was great.

Line of the night: King to Regal "You never drank toilet water did you". Regal"I don't think so, but once I drank some tea that tasted like toilet water"...hahaha

Sign of the night "Planet Stasiak population 3" 2 guys hold the sign.

My take on the evening:

* Hardyz/Lesnar was... there, and rather pointless. The mind recoils at the mental image of Paul Heyman in a singlet.

* Heel Flair is fun to watch. As always, when a wrestling company runs out of ideas, they go back to Ric Flair.

* Eddy/RVD could be fun to watch. Eddy/Stasiak was a fine opportunity for a bathroom break.

* Tommy Knoxville!

* Terri nearly executed a move properly out there! Take notes, it'd be her first in several years. Poor Molly... her heel turn started so well, and they've driven it into the ground like a tent stake. Fit Finlay may be doing the training these days, but I think David McLane's writing the storylines.

* Flair/Hogan... well, it says something when they bring out two guys with thirty world titles between them and it's not even the MAIN EVENT. Let us move on.

* Jazz-Stevie/Trish-Bubba was there, and the simplest way to get the belt off the injured Jazz -- that, and an opportunity to have Stevie get whacked in the nuts.

* I would've given a week's pay to see Booker's face if Goldust had reached the second or third verse of the Lumberjack Song. Even as-is, this was goofy fun.

* Bradshaw/Greasy-Slowly: Let... us... move... on.

* I saw Hogan in his yes-I-can-TOO-ride-a-motorcycle outfit, and immediately shouted "SCHULTZ!" All he needed was the monocle and a spike on his helmet and he'd have fit right in next to Werner Klemperer. And, don't forget, kids -- if you're going to an extremely lame drag-the-hero-behind-a-vehicle skit, always slam him into CLANGY THINGS at the end. Much like how all guitars used in wrestling rings contain talcum powder, it's not just a good idea -- it's the LAW.

* Austin beats up the entire nWo black ninja style, and gets the pin. WHEE! I wanted an Arn spinebuster and I was DENIED, so I went to bed unhappy.

All things considered, even though there are a few potentially-promising matches on the upcoming card (Eddy-RVD, Edge-Angle, HHH-Jericho), they'd better do a _damn_ fine job of selling me on the PPV on Smackdown. I knew this wouldn't be a "pay for it myself" PPV, but right now it's not even inspiring me to go to the local sports bar to watch it for free.

I like the Molly/Regal pair as well. I just hope they didn't drop the mini-feud with D-Lo.

The women's match was alright. Since Trish can wrestle on Smackdown now, maybe she'll feud with Ivory, or even Stacey, though Ivory is the only good female wrestler on the Smackdown roster. Maybe now is a good time to call up Victoria from OVW.

i was there last night, and the whole show just came off as stale to me. as always, i was looking forward to dark matches, of which there were NONE. the heat matches were boring (save for one, which was *alright*) and heatless (contrary to the show's name), and raw started off on a HORRIBLE note, with brock's dq loss. it really floored my hopes for the evening. the flair - hogan match was alright, i guess, and the crowd loved it, but i wasn't into it at all. rvd not wrestling was a big disappointment. the crowd was weirded out when it was announced that booker t was the newest member of the nwo. everyone around was hoping that it was either a) SAVAGE(!) or b) goldberg, but i figured they wouldn't pull something like that. the xpac/show vs bradshaw match basically killed any heat left in the place, and myself, as well as many people around me, were contemplating going home right there.

i swear, i'm as loyal a fan as any, i've never turned off wwf no matter how stale or boring it's been... but they're testing my patience again. i hope smackdown is a bit better than raw this week.

I agree, it really was pretty bland last night. I'm having a hard time enjoying RAW lately, but then I really don't want to miss my favorite wrestler right now, MOLLY~! For the last couple of weeks, Smackdown was the show to watch, provided you skip the Vince-Stacy bits of course. And with (Hopefully) the return of the psycho HHH, the buildup to HIAC could be some sweet ass television.

I don't know, I really enjoyed the show last night. The only part I was unhappy with was the Booker T as the surprise main event. It's pretty cheap to get everyone all excited about the possibility of a new main eventer on the roster, and it turns out to be one of the same old guys. I will forgive them if they really push the "reluctant-NWO member" thing and still go with a face turn for Booker. The Book got a huge face pop for the spineroonie, even though he had just joined a hated heel faction and was fighting the #1 face.

My favorite moment was RVD giving a promo without a mic. "I don't need a mic, the audience will say it for me." Ha!!

One thing I forgot. I'm not usually one to single out Trish Stratus for praise, but she _did_ throw some nice punches up on the turnbuckle last night. Good crisp motion. I remember watching them and thinking "Geez, Austin needs to take notes here." Not that he's the only one, mind you...

Are you joking, Booker T as a lumberjack is the highlight of the year, screw the Jap matches. I thought Raw started off really good and hit its stride with the Hogan/Flair match and ended its streak with the Hardcore Woman's match. The end was blah. I was expecting Goldberg or Steiner to come out to be the next NWO member. Booker T doesn't need the NWO, he is getting major pops as a face. I say turn him face. Raw doesn't have many faces left, its time for a face turn.

True, Booker T does not need the nWo, nor does the nWo need Booker T specifically. But the nWo does need a BELIEVEABLE MAIN EVENTER WHOM STONE COLD WILL FUCKING SELL FOR!!!

I think the nWo needed Booker. Even though he was due for the face turn, he was also the only person available on the upper card who could believably feud with Austin. Big Show? And the crowd goes, "Eh." Ric Flair? Not really an active wrestler in his prime anymore. X-Pac?

Okay, now that you've stopped laughing at the last name, the addition of Booker T could be huge for the nWo. He can get a crowd reaction, he knows how to work, and he's a believable candidate to work in main events. By keeping him heel, he'll be able to continue to work feuds with RVD, Austin, and Hogan (I'm assuming Hogan drops the belt on Sunday). By turning him face, he'll be yet another face on a roster that's already loaded with potential main-event babyfaces like Hogan, RVD, Austin, yet almost completely lacking in credible heel challengers.

Booker did kinda feud with Austin already and wasn't built up as all that credible a threat. I'm wondering if moving Booker into the nWo, if it's not a one night only thing, is related to Heyman being in the Lesnar match. The only reason to have Heyman in there is to start a Brock face turn, and nWo Booker seems like someone they would throw out there for Face Brock.

It really seems like Lesnar's train has derailed the past two weeks. The Hardy feud seemed to definitively end when he crushed Matt the week before Backlash, Jeff at Backlash and Matt the night after. They stopped interacting and Lesnar moved on to Stasiak and his crowd reaction first vanished and then turned into the Goldberg chants. Now the Hardys are back again like they never stopped fighting Brock and they seem to have set up the face turn with Heyman pissing him off. I think he'd be better as a heel for a bit, but maybe they don't have any faces for him and they do need to do something, so hey, we'll see.

Kind of a shame that Regal/D-Lo is gone, or at least on hold. It's probably just on hold until next week, since the PPV seems heavily pro-Raw, but D-Lo is just coming back and could use some TV time.

RVD/Eddie kind of fizzled out a bit, too. I was hoping they'd play up the Frog Splash thing, like play up how RVD hurts himself with the Five Star and have Guerrero attack his ribs. That way you have a centerpiece for the match - can RVD hit the Five Star Frog Splash? If he does, will he be too injured to cover? Something to take it to the next level like that.

I dunno. At the risk of being shouted down as some evil being who refuses to see anything good in the WWE, Raw just didn't do it for me. It was nice to see Flair/Hogan and UT dragging Hogan around was crazy fun (if a little weird)...and yeah, that nWo ??? figure in the Lumberjack preview was awesome. But most of the stuff seemed disjointed(Regal doing commentary on the women's match) or just kind of there. Booker as the nWo surprise was the second deflating nWo Raw surprise in a row. Booker joining the nWo seems like a bad move now (again, if the plan is that he's just there for now and leaves next week, it might turn out OK, we'll see) and I think they dropped the ball by not having Arn side with Austin against madman Flair. And Flair with the nWo against Austin still doesn't make any sense when Flair was willing to end his career and sell all his shares just to keep them out until Stone Cold was the only guy to come out and stand with him. Flair hating Austin makes sense, yeah, embracing the nWo, not so much. I don't know, I guess I just hate everything.
