I've heard JR use that line before, and it always gives me a laugh. JR is like the Dan Rather of WWE, what with his odd analogies that make no sense. That said, my favorite stupid announcer line of the last couple years was Michael Cole at WrestleMania last year when he declared that getting punched by Big Show was like being hit with a typewriter.

I've been listening to my gut since I was fourteen. And I've come to the conclusion that, frankly, my guts have shit for brains.

Seems like a great show, and I missed it. Does anyone know if there will be repeats shown in Canada? Or maybe one of those highlight style shows (Bottem Line I think s the RAW version).

I don't know about that...

When someone (I forget who, but I think Christian) got flap-jacked face first into the canvas, J.R. said something like, "there's no barbecue sauce on that canvas, so that could not have tasted very good!!".

I just can't see how they can have Orton remain a babyface. The crowd is not buying it at all. They want to boo him. The only way he doesn't turn is if the writing team isn't actually watching the show.

He would probably want a lot of money to do a one shot, because in his mind, he's still a star.

Why wouldn't they simply have Orton RKO his dad, the Hall of Famer? He's already gonna be in town.

I'll just say it was a very good Raw.

Did anybody else catch when Hassan was done with his promo how Haas' theme hit right quick before it switched to Hassan's music?

For a second I thought the "All-American"Haas was going to come out and challenge Hassan to WM21.

If this has already been said, I'm sorry, I didn't have the time to read everybody's reply.

ALl this time and nobody mentions poor Tyson Tomko getting busted open hardway with a brutal ladder shot to the face. He looked all kind of stunned and out of it.

And, not to piss on the parade or anything, but Marty looked like complete shit in the ring. A few armdrags and some sloppy drop kicks? Nothing worth extending a contract offer over, thats for sure.

The problem is that he never stopped doing heel facial expressions and gestures even when he turned face.

TSN will be airing it at about 2:30 am central tonight if it's the same as always. Their website should let you know when exactly based on your timezone. They cut 10 minutes or so to make room for the overrun during a regular timeslot, but it's usually useless backstage "diva" crap. Set your VCR I guess.

Hell, I hope they give Jannetty a contract and then just have him and Michaels team up forever. It'll give them each something to do, give the WWE a tag team that people actually care about, and maybe if he's doing tag matches some people here will give Michaels a break and not expect him to lose every single match to give whatever "rub" being a jobber is supposed to give. Well forget the last one there happening, but I see nothing wrong with keeping Jannetty around. He's better than half the roster, and even if they nostagia dies out and only 10% of the fans give a shit about him anymore, he'll still be up on a lot of the guys they put on TV each week.

Random Raw Thoughts:

-Nice show that seemed like something for all the old-timers. Nice surprises by Jake & Marty and lots of footage from Jake "The Snake", Hogan, and Austin.

-As possibly the only W that understands Farsi, I'll go ahead and say what Daivari said really didn't make much sense...
English translation: All of you...listen to me and Muhammad Haaaaaaaasan.
Just awkward to stress the "Haaaaasan."

-For the first time in a while, I enjoyed the Wrestlemania "Hollywood" commercial this week. I miss Angle with hair...

-Whatever happened to the tag belts...Can Regal & Tajiri at least have the tag belts with them when they're doing a backstage skit? I might actually watch Heat just to get a glimpse of the belts for second...Nah.

-Big difference between Jake's reaction from the crowd and Jannetty...Granted it was Robert's home state, but damn...When Jannetty first appeared in HBK's locker room, there wasn't much of a pop.

I was skeptical myself, but after reading the HOLT report on Torch:
"The real treat of the night was when Jake the Snake came back in the middle of the match and threw the snake on Ric Flair. Batista hit the powerbomb on Triple H and pinned him 1-2-3. After it was over, Jake jumped back into the ring and gave The Game a DDT. Jake then pretended that the snake was a part of the male anatomy as he draped the Snake over Triple H. HBK gave Triple H a SuperKick at the end of the night to cap the evening off."

You know, his hair was shorter than last time I saw him and he looked younger than I expected. If there had been no verbal interaction, I would not have recognized him.

For some reason, I've been thinking Orton WILL turn heel, and will win with some interference from his Dad, thereby giving Orton his win over Taker, Taker losing his WM winning streak, but it would be tainted, thus giving him a reason to whine about how he SHOULD still be undefeated at WM, and from the looks of it, Orton is going to Smackdown after WM, thereby giving them a built-in feud that COULD last until Summerslam, if done right.

And just to make sure we don't go *too* overboard with our marking out...here is Honky, adding his two cents...

from Click Here (thehonkytonkman.com)

* * * * *

HTM just returned home from a very successful tour of Switzerland and Austria. He is now bound for the Great Northwest of Vancouver till next week. I recently had the chance to catch up with HTM as he was between Switzerland and Vienna, Austria and spoke with him about both Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Marty Jannetty making appearances on Raw.

When asked about Jake, the HTM said:

"Hypocrites come from all walks of life. Desperate men will do desperate things. I just hope Jake will send me the dough from the shows I canceled for his ass last January when he swore on the crack pipe he had 10 shows booked in England.

What if the doctor who does the hip surgery is cracked up and lets the knife slip to the old un-used snake between Jake's legs. I guess he could always put it on eBay.

I have to wonder how Jake felt being introduced by a guy he openly calls Jeriblow?"

When we spoke about Marty Jannetty, HTM replied with:

"I wonder how the Oh Brother Reunion went? Maybe a prayer meeting before the show with strippers, crack, booze and a couple fags?"

* * * * *

Yeah, Honky sucks, right?...but isn't that what most of us are thinking after the hangover wears off? That and "gee, Robert Blake will have his hair dyed jet black and be drunk by 6pm PST". PARTY TIME! [like I'm going to troll there!!!] ;-)

Maybe Jake is also the poster boy for The-W .. LOP are reporting he will be having a hip operation courtesy WWE.

Remember the thread about what the WWE could do to look after the wrestlers of a bygone era, maybe someone at WWE reads the-w .

Good to see both Jake and MJ back into mainstream WWE consciousness. What with HHH helping Sean Waltman and Ted DiBiase and Ricky Steamboat also joining the train. It seems that there is a role in the WWE for those we loved or hated.

Although Honky, like Zenk, usually cancels out his valid points with bitter cheap shots that hurt his credibility, I was thinking myself about how Jericho must have felt, considering Jake's rabid criticism of Jericho's abilities.

Of course, I’ll echo the mostly positive sentiments about Monday’s RAW, and add this: My favourite part was the undercurrent of forgiveness and redemption that came across to me while watching and reflecting on the episode.

I couldn’t believe it when Jake came out. He looked about as bad as I expected he would given that my last memories of him were from “Beyond the Mat” and that time and continued drug use could only worsen his outward appearance. His voice sounded like he had an overflowing ashtray residing in his esophagus, but once the awkwardness of him being out there wore away and he got going, I had to say “Damn.” He did every bit as good as Foley did in putting Randy over (minus jobbing to him in an actual match, of course). His line about reacquainting Randy’s head with his mouth because he’s been talking out of his ass was gold and new to me (yes, I probably need to get out more).

What struck me was the fact that I didn’t know what we would get out of Jake. His last appearance on a widely available wrestling show (Heroes of Wrestling) seemed to demonstrate that he no longer cared about seeming even remotely professional, plus he was going to be in the ring with Chris Jericho who, if I recall correctly, was referred to as “Jeri-blow” on his website at one time or another. The potential for a train-wreck was very high, and he quickly put that out of my mind by reverting to the old creepy promo Jake that I think most of us have missed. I would gather that there were bridges being mended with old friends and employers backstage and hopefully this is a sign that Jake is clean, reasonably healthy and able to contribute to the sport in some way (big or small) in the future.

I was also as unsure about Marty Jannetty when it was announced in the SmackDown! spoilers that he would be facing Kurt Angle this week. My last memories of him were of his short stay in WCW where he was obviously still clinging to the last shreds of his partnership with Shawn by wearing what looked like his old Rockers gear and mullet as well as putting on a near parody of his old performances in the ring. From the moment he appeared on camera, those went away too. I won’t lie and say that I could tell that he and Shawn were drunk or stoned back in the day, nor could I tell you if he was clean and sober Monday night, but he sure looked like someone who was coherent and excited for the chance to entertain the biggest audience he had seen in quite some time.

That translated to the ring as he looked fluid and seemed to be a step ahead of La Rez even as far as not having too many slow moments (where at least I can see guys setting up for the next move rather than conveying a realistic reaction to getting hit, suplexed, etc.). Yes, his outfit was a bit hokey with all the tassles, but at least it had some modern flair, or seemed to.

Ultimately, the job of everyone on the show is to entertain, and both of them did that Monday night, plus they made me feel good about being fans of theirs at one time or another over the years without having to think first and foremost “too bad about them.”

So not only did we get that, we had Dave looking great in backstage vignettes and holding his own with Flair who is starting to become Tully more and more every week as HHH becomes “The (M)man for the New Millennium," Shelton continuing to shine and gain fans on both the net and the general fanbase alike. Hell, even JR & King seemed to be more "on" this week. Was it just me, or was JR using some classic names of moves (Stinger Splash, etc.)? Lawler kept the creepy old man bit to a somewhat subdued level (for him - of course I grew up on Memphis wrasslin' so the King almost always gets a pass from me).

I’ll also agree that a CRZ recap for old times sake would have been AWESOME. Not a demand or even a plea, just some props for the entertainment that he provided with his recaps that they are still missed, especially when RAW steps up to the table and hits a solid double or even a sliding triple instead of the singles and ground outs we’ve mostly gotten over the past few years.

That’s the best thing you can say about this RAW, is that it reminded us of when it was that good on a regular basis and all the stuff that went along with it. Hopefully, we’ll get more of that this year.

It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them.

Well, I'd imagine Jericho makes much, much, much more money than The Snake did during his prime, and works less than he does. And is less coked up. And has a better relationship with his wife and kids. So...yeah.
