Shawn & Marty were definitely out of sync...thankfully they limited the double team moves...I thought it really showed the difference in caliber between HBK and Marty...Shawn was always a step quicker it seemed.

Man oh man, yeah, it was cool to see Jake out there tonight, but damn does he ever look and sound terrible. I was heartened that the home-state crowd gave him a warm welcome, but he looks even worse now than he did in Beyond the Mat. I guess that was a few years ago now. I wonder what the chances are of seeing him again. Maybe they're thinking about a future spot for him in the HoF and want to rebuild some bridges.

I have to agree with what everyone's saying about Shelton tonight. He did have some really impressive moves, but I want to give some of that credit to Edge for helping to make all those moves look sweet -- especially the flying cross-body off the top rope countered into powerbomb-roll-up combination. Pure sweetness. I second the nomination for a Shelton/Edge program. It'll do them both some good.

And despite the fact that Edge lost a match AGAIN (seriously, when was the last time he won something?), I'm glad we was protected in the job. He had Shelton pinned clean while the ref was out, and lost because of interference from Jericho. Shelton gets the win and gold. Edge gets some badass points. Both guys still look good. I'm happy with it.

And Benoit was equally protected, I agree. He wiped the ring with Triple H for almost the entire match. Triple H has still never beaten Benoit clean, which is a nice feather in Benoit's cap. There's something to be said for being, in JR's words, such a "highly respected superstar".

As far as awesomeness goes, the Benoit/Triple H match should have been the ME, but I think the WWE is very keen on pushing Batista, so I can see why they saved his match with Snitsky till last. Still, the work was lacklustre, and it was somewhat of an anticlimax to the show.

I never much liked the Rockers as a kid (didn't like their style), and I've never been a big fan of Shawn Michaels (never liked the sexy-boy gimmick, and I like it less on a middle-aged man), but Janetty did look good in there tonight, and I have to admit, that was one of the best tag team matches I've seen in a long time. It had that old-school tag team feel that I loved as a kid. It brought back memories of the British Bulldogs, the Killer Bees, the Hart Foundation, and all the other tag team specialists -- guys who really made the team effort seem important, the well-oiled machines -- and I really enjoyed their match tonight.

I thought Angle was priceless in the When Harry Met Sally Spoof. I'm glad the WWE is getting their money's worth out of all those wigs they bought for the West Side Story shoot.

Okay, one last thought. The combined awfulness of the acting abilities of Maria and Linda McMahon actually makes Lita's acting look not so bad.

Really excellent show tonight, although I thought the main event was rather anticlimactic. Which is odd, since I'm kind of a Batista mark, but I just couldn't give two craps about Snitsky and couldn't really take him as a serious threat.

Jake the Snake was my favorite wrestler as a kid, and boy, I was delighted to see him. Was he out of shape? Sure. But he sounded coherent and his promo was excellent. I knew he was going to eat the RKO, though. I think Randy's definitely turning heel and the crowd reaction supports it. I'd say he got about sixty to seventy percent boos tonight, and it'd go pure heel if he did a complete turn (outside of a few girls who wanna do 'im).

The Rocker reunion was super-cool, as well. The best thing about it, to me, was that it just looked like Shawn and Marty were having a great time. They were smiling like crazy and clearly loving the chance to do their thing again, even if only for one night. And Shawn was definitely making it all about Marty, pointing to him, getting the crowd to chant his name. I love watching wrestlers who love to wrestle, and the Rockers epitomized that tonight.

Edge/Shelton and HHH/Benoit were both great matches. I keep hoping that somehow Shelton will win the ladder match at WM, but I think Edge is the most likely candidate so he can challenge Batista at Summerslam. And while HHH "got his win back", it was far from clean and Benoit dominated the match as a whole, so I don't think Benoit was damaged at all by the loss.

The best part of Batista tonight was when he looked at Snitsky and just said "Gene..." and made a goofy face. The man's got personality, what can you say. Not a great match, of course, because Snitsky's a useless bag of turds in the ring. I keep expecting Batista to finally get beaten down by HHH and he keeps finding a way out of it. That as much as anything is what's made Batista, as he seems to be ahead of HHH at every turn and more than capable to taking him apart when the time comes.

Anyway, best RAW in a while and I really hope Hassan does end up getting a match with Hogan at Wrestlemania. Hey, if he's gotta lose sometime, losing to Hogan at Wrestlemania's hardly the worst way to do it.

I had a goofy grin on my face all throughout RAW. Snake, the ROCKERS, a couple of great matches in Benoit/HHH and Edge/Benjamin, and I'm a happy camper.

With only two more weeks of programming, how many more legends can Orton kill? You figure he's due for a match with Kane the week after next, but next week....Superfly? King Kong Bundy? EL GIGANTE?! SID?!

The only thing missing from the Rockers match was a lack of a double Superkick or the double fistdrop from the top rope. GodEatGod said it best....it looked like both Shawn and Marty were having a ball with the old moves and routines. Jannetty looked pretty solid in the ring, and I'm wondering if it might be worth WWE's time to sign him to a deal and pair him up with some guy like a Paul London on Smackdown....pitch Marty as the veteran tag team specialist trying to groom another talented young partner.

After a couple of anticlimatic weeks, the Batista push gets back on track with a cool backstage promo against Flair, and as good a match as can be expected with Snitsky. I expect a good bout next week, since Kane works pretty well against other big men (i.e. Big Show, A-Train).

And, after a couple of duds, the WM Hollywood promos are back on track. I was wondering who would say the orgasm line, and figuring it'd be great if it was Linda, but nahh, they'll probably use Moolah again....and then Mrs. Mac showed up after all! Hilarious stuff.

I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? This show may have just trumped Raw is Japan for my favorite Raw of 2005. Friggin Rockers Reunion! Marty looked great, better than he has in years and better than most of the roster. Some pleasant and enjoyable surprises make the rare time where workrate doesn't necessarily make a show(not to say that there weren't some good performances). And hey I've always marked out for nostalgia, even back in early '03 when the web was crapping on all those returns.
-And the old Rockers' theme music totally blows all of today's themes out of the water, if you ask me.

Heh, people see what they wanna see.

I forgive Shawn for most of his bullshit, simply because we got a Rockers reunion tonight. Marty did look very good, just a little hesitant at times which I am hoping he will get over because I am hoping he was will be kept around.

Liked Edge/Shelton, one spot I couldn't stand however was when Shelton punched Edge in the face about fifteen consecutive times. It looked great but it was absurd. I know it's an old wrestling gripe that will probably never be rectified but people need to cover up, because no one can be repeatedly hit like that, bare-knuckled, and live.

I am not feeling this Batista thing, it seems to be simmering instead of sizzling. With all the work they've got behind this match, they're only making it feel like slightly-larger-than-average-Triple H-challenge #46, ala Goldberg, Booker T, and Steiner. It was obvious Kane was Tista's poison, because despite the no longer active Snitsky connection he really had no reason to be out there and is notably involved in a completely different feud on the show, but I am glad they resisted the urge to have Kane attack Batista. The face-off was more than enough.

Benoit/HHH was very good, as was Flair's view of last year's Wrestlemania pissing off H. I still don't think Triple H is capable of a great match with anyone other than Benoit, since all the great matches he had in 2004 were with the Crippler. Shawn was in them too, but any match with Shawn/Hunter alone was pitiful.

I don't normally complain about divas, because I'm a man, but Maria has got to go. She speaks like she's just learned English, nay, make that verbal communication.

Wow...what can I say about the Rockers reunion that hasn't already been said? What a huge markout moment that was. And it'll put a lot of heat on the Wrestlemania match when Angle inevitably kills Marty dead on Smackdown.

Add me to the list of people who loved raw. A rare episode where they go out of thier way to entertain the viewers.

Shelton's got mad ups. Channeling the spirit of rey jr, and nailing a move that even rey has had trouble with (summerslam match vs kurt)

im looking forward to the 6 way WM match, but its just kind of sad they couldnt find something better for benoit, edge, and even jericho. i could see edge temporarily teaming with m. hassan after mania, they kind of look alike and theyve both been victim to us racist americans

anyone else notice ufc influences creeping into the show? i thought there was a "ufc" chant when tomko mounted kane and started raining punches down upon him. also benoit's knee's to hhh's head and shelton's flying knee to edge.

A lot of the roster should have taken notes on Jake's less is more promo. Even though he looked like shit and sounded like shit, he almost had you forgetting all that while seeing the Jake of old ... I said almost.

DAMN, I wish I had taped, or even just watched, this episode! I was working on my computer in another room and was just listening to it, so I had to settle for the internet's love and the brief WWE.com clips after the fact.

Some of my earliest memories watching the rasslin' include when 'Ravishing' Rick Rude macked on Jake's wife and the Rockers debuting on the same episode of Superstars as the Big Boss Man, so having Roberts and Janetty reappear in 2005 is a Little Debbie snack cake of nirvana for me.

I thought Micheals and Marty would be too old, out of shape, and broken down to execute their old apron handplant exit maneuver, so them busting it out and not landing on their noggins is pretty awesome.

Going through the list of other Legends Taker beat at WM, the best guess for who would next get RKO'd is Snuka. They LOVE getting him to make appearances. Sid might be a good choice becuase Taker's win over him was for the World Title, but isn't he still hobbling from snapping his leg at that WCW pay-per-view?

Going on sound alone, it sure DID sound like Maria had been dating a friend of Edge.

And When Kurt Met Christy was funny enough just from Angle sporting a perm wig and shaggy beard, Hemme with huge '80s hair, and their hand gestures to each other, but Christy making like a porn star from Angle singing his theme song was tremendous. I love that girl.

The Money In The Bank Match could be really interesting if WWE doesn't prematurely blow the title match. Suppose, say, Christian wins, but he gets drafted over to Smackdown. He then tries to win the match and bring over Raw's title, leading to both shows' rosters and GMs getting involved in the match's build-up to save/destroy Raw. Or suppose Shelton wins and waits all the way until before WM 22 to redeem the contract, messing up the plans of some wrestler who had the Title Match due him from winning the '06 Royal Rumble. It could be a way to tinker with the usual booking formulas without having to resort to the usual worn contrivances.

So what was ultimately the issue that worried Americans enough to go out to vote? Terrorism? War quagmires? Whispers of a draft? Lost jobs? Don't be an elitist. Our great national crisis:

The last time I saw Jannetty had to have been about ten years ago (when he was teaming with Al Snow), and I think he looked better last night then he did then. If they want to give him a regular spot on one of the rosters, you wouldn't hear me complaining. A great show all around though. My only complaint is that they need to build Christian up at least a little bit before the Wrestlemania match. Give him someone to beat next week, please.

How about Edge?

If you want to built up Christian, he has to beat someone who is taking part in the 'Mania match. Next week, Kane is busy, which leaves Benjamin, Jericho, Benoit, and Edge.

I think it's safe to say that the WWE is protecting Benoit and would in no way give Christian anything approaching a clean win over the Crippler.

Benjamin, I think, is going to be given a chance to show he has a main event future once they sort things out post-Wrestlemania and figure out some good feuds for him. I think they want to keep him strong and right now he's my best bet to win.

Christian and Jericho already had their Trish-related program.

We just finished Christian vs. Kane.

Maybe they can work out a nifty heel vs. heel match between Christian and Edge.

And a big "atta boy" to the music guy who played the first 3 seconds of Charlie Haas' music at the end of Hassan's promo. Christ, they aren't even on the same SHOW. I guess the "Haas" button looked too much like the "Hassan" button...

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say this had easily been the best RAW of the year. Benoit/Trips was great, the nostalgia was great, although Jake is looking and sounding like crap.

I too think Hogan and Hassan are going to face each other. I'm also thinking Hassan might interrupt Piper's Pit (like he interrupts every one else's interviews) and eats a Stunner or two.

But...i'm just not buying into Batista. He's playing to the fans too much (pointing at their signs, etc). Dave, you got just as big of a pop as Trips' monkey boy...and preserved the "badass" character. You're already losing your edge. The buildup to his face turn was awesome...the fans were digging the anticipation of the turn on Evolution, culminated by the powerbomb through the table. Now, the spotlight's on ya, Big Dave....and you're a dud. He'll get the strap at 'Mania, but judging by the last couple of weeks, Big Dave just isn't looking like championship material. They couldn't even give him a clean win over Shitsky? Judging from their great match tonight, I'd be more for a Benoit/Trips 'Mania rematch and maybe Batista going for the IC gold instead.

I figure Ted Dibiase. He's on the payroll now, he's certainly a Legend, has some connection with both Ace and the Taker and can probably take a bump. He can also play Heel or face, depending on who they want to really push Lil' Randall.

Yeah, that really should have been a glorified squash. Snitsky can't beat Kane, lost to Shelton in ~3 minutes, and suddenly he's giving Batista problems? There's no point in protecting Snitsky now, while Batista is supposed to be "The Animal". Snitsky gets in some token offense, then Batista destroys him.

Actually, both of the former Rockers blew the nip-up spot (in stereo, no less). Jannetty couldn't get enough snap to get to his feet, and kinda fell on his ass. Shawn, on the other hand, got to his feet, but slipped and stumbled.
