So at the end of Raw this week after Jericho/RVD finished, Bischoff is on the mobile phone talking about the XXX trailer. He walks through a blue steel door and there's a blue steel spiral staircase. All of a sudden I get visions of the famous Stone Cold petition signing episode. Spike Dudley standing on that same blue spiral staircase tearing up Stone Cold's petition after Austin called Molly a skank or a yak or something or other. Am I remembering this right, was that petition signing episode in this same arena as the 8/5/02 Raw?

"Regal congratulates Tajiri on a job well done - he can continue on in the King of the Ring on Monday night (hmmm, quarters on TV instead of the PPV, huh? Interesting) - suddenly, Austin barges in. "Commissioner, Commissioner! Look! L-L-Look what he did!" "Who?" "Spike! Spike Dudley! This is my contract, my petition, he ripped it all to shreds, he ruined every single thing I've done! And if he's gonna ruin my damn day, I'm gonna, I want that son of a (beep) tonight, in the ring, I want Spike Dudley - Stone Cold! Put the title on the line - oh yeah - I wanna defend the WWF title against Spike Dudley and I want you to make it happen!" Regal says he's got it."

ahhhh, heel austin...geez i miss him...

And this reminded me of how much I miss Commissioner Regal. Man, what a difference a year makes.

Cowardly Heel Austin was my favorite austin incarnation. Remember when Undertaker took over austin's dressing room? But he had a chain! If it wasn't for that chain austin would have gone in and kicked his @SS! hahaha, great stuff.

Actually, I think Austin told Debra that he would have kicked Taker's ass but he was afraid she might get hurt.

And Austin was pure gold last year. If there was a RSPW category for Best Beatdown, the time he clobbered Kurt Angle while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance between stomps would have won it handily.

Ill plead guilty on to loving heel Austin as well. Mostly because his face work was so utterly horrible. No one could ever get a move in, and then that crappy move to end the match. Barely uses any moves. Hated him. Then, as a heelHe becomes Buddy Freakin Rogers overnight. But I think we have to realize were in the minority on loving heel Austin, because the majority of the fans crapped on Austin as a heel. That was the first time the ratings dipped seriously, I believe, or at least paved the way for it. And it didnt draw on the road since he had no one to play off of to draw money for the house showsRocky was off filming something bad.

Heel Austin completely rocked. My favorite Austin heel moment was when he left the ring after the fans were booing him, then he came back and he said he "changed his mind."

There's too many classic Heel Austin moments.

Naw, the best beatdown of 2001 was Stone Cold's 5+ minute unabashed ass-whupping of Michael Cole. It was supposed to really serious, but I was rolling on the floor laughing.
