A good but not great match. Orton probably had the most heel heat of the night. Chris hit the headbutt for a very near fall. Triple H and Batista came out to interfere. The ref got knocked out. Orton hit the RKO, had Benoit covered as the ref crawled to his feet to make the count but Benoit kicked out. Evolution then beat up the ref. Eugene and Regal came out to fight off Batista and Triple H. Benoit reversed another RKO attempt into a Crossface and Orton very quickly tapped.
(Other rumored SummerSlam matches on the card include Eugene beating Triple H, La Resistance defeating Tajiri and Rhyno and Edge winning a three way over Batista and Chris Jericho. Click the link for the full recap.)

Unless they go the route where Tiple H thinks by helping Orton win the belt, Orton would turn around and give Triple H a title shot or just give him the title itself. And then Orton wins the title but won't give hHh the shot leading to a rift. Or even finally giving hHh a shot only to have Batisita and/or Flair get involved in helping Orton win making the rift.

They just put two people together, try and make them find a niche together in the ring and let the fans go away happy with the result.

Seriously, any fans of the EC match's?

Yup. I just got back from a house show in Austin and the results basically were:
Jericho def. Bautista with a rollup Edge def. Orton after a spear Benoit def. HHH via submission
And every other face on the card, with the exception of Kane and La Resistance, won. I doubt this'll be the way Summerslam goes.
Judging by reactions HHH and Orton were easily the two most over heels. (Actually, everyone REALLY hated Coach).
Benoit and Jericho were their counterparts, facewise. Nice to see a lot of Benoit t-shirts in the heart of Steve Austin country.

If the current champion is intended to retain at the PPV they may try out a couple of endings (different run-ins/finishing sequences etc.) but other than that you can't take anything from them. HHH helping Orton would make sense though if they plan on turning him face for when Evolution break up.

They only did one at SummerSlam last year because of an injury to HHH. If they do one at all this year it'll probably be at SurSer where it started out.

Well it definitely makes more sense to have an Elimination Chamber type match at Survivor Series, since it IS Survivor Series and you need elimination type match-ups.

| #9 Posted on 2.8.04 0349.00 | Instant Rating: 3.24 | I dunno, while I like the concept of having an EC every Survivor Series, I think they'll be going more along the lines of Evolution vs. Four Faces instead, especially if they're going to run with Orton vs. Triple H at WM because we all know how SurSer can fast forward the breaking up of stables.
Who knows though? Maybe SmackDown will rob Eric Bischoff's idea or I'll just be wrong?
