All I have to say is that ECW got gyped big time. Getting just Kozlov (who came out to the quietest reaction I have ever seen) is just brutal. Still, I just might watch it just for the awesomeness of Matt Striker. he really is as goos as advertised.

Oh, and while I'm really digging the new character of Matt Hardy, I'm going to join the chorus and say he needs to get his hair cut. Even with the cool new tights, he looks like that drunk 40 year old guy who unsucessfully hits on women half his age at bars.

Citifield- where we have obstructed views so you don't have to see all the gory details of how our team chokes on it yet again.

Because of Striker, I'm going to add ECW to my DVR. All of his little comments were pretty funny, like when they won the pick, "Please be good!"

I would say RAW was weakened by this draft. Hunter's drafting undoubtedly means they'll be continuing the goofy and annoying Trips/Orton feud that stunk out the Mania main event. Even for those who insist against all reason that Orton has the charisma to be a main event heel must admit those two piles of oatmeal he walks around with have none. And we're getting more of that. Wrestlemania really went a long way to convince me that I've seen about all the Triple H I need to in this lifetime. They have done everything they can with him a thousand times. And cycling in Shane McMahon and a newer, weaker Batista that sells for Shane, isn't going to make it any more entertaining. Their other "gains" were Big Show, who is slower than ever, and Matt Hardy, who is just alright. Maryse and MVP could make positive impacts, but that's if they're booked strong. Which is a big if.

Shawn and Cena will retain top spots, obviously, so from here, it seems likely the main event scene on RAW will look more or less exactly the same it did in 2005.

Smackdown is the show to watch now. They got Rey back, with a mid-card title that perhaps only he could make matter again, they have the two best heels of the last five years, Edge and now Jericho, a good hand with a following in Punk, the only hoss on the roster with any kind of mobility (other than Taker), and Melina, who can do the splits. My only concern is their babyfaces are a little weak: Taker's part-time, and Jeff can't talk well enough to carry a brand.
Which means they probably won't turn Punk. Which sucks, cuz that'd be awesome.

I honestly think VKM doesn't want wrestling fans watching WWE. Maryse and her joke of a title on RAW? pffft. HHH and MVP,bitch pleeze. At least we should be treated to another CJ/Edgward feud and Punk vs Rey for the (hopefully) once again prestigious IC championship. And hopefully the supplemental draft will see Evan Bourne Head to SD as well. For those of you just now getting the praise some of us have been heaping on Matt Stryker for months now, welcome to the club (I just wish the dream team of Josh and Matt could go to SD too.Put JR back with King on Raw and shuffle Todd and Cole to Ecw so we only have to hear them talk about 2 or 3 glorified jobber squashes every week.)

Actually, I think the announcing dream team would be JR and Striker. No idea if the announcing teams will be shuffled this time around, but I would love to see that happen.

You're onto something there. If anything, that'd be something else; seeing Cena beat Edge at Backlash, and have Punk cash in the MITB briefcase right afterward and beating Cena for the title. It'd be for two reasons: to put one of the two major titles on Smackdown, and to turn Punk to at least a tweener.

I disagree. There's only so much Miz could have done in a tag team with Morrison. The team ran their course, and the split up happened before they started going stale. If anything, the way Miz turned on Morrison was pretty cool, and the crowd seemed appreciative of it.

The only issue I'd have there is that would make it the forth MITB shot used in that manner. Edge did it twice, including with the one he stole from Kennedy, and Punk did it last year. I thought it was utterly brilliant heeldom the first time Edge did it; I actually jumped out of my seat, not expecting it. And when Punk did it last year, that worked because it was Edge's, as Vince would say, "comeuppance". It's overplayed now, though, I think, and much like recent Royal Rumbles have improved greatly due to the lack of a tired and predictable "Diesel push" in them, I think the next few MITB shots would be made more credible by the winners using them like a man.

The problem: The only guy to use MITB "like a man" was Rob Van Dam, and we all know how THAT turned out.

... so because RVD was booked to use the MITB shot in a scheduled match and then got busted with some drugs, the next person booked to use the MITB shot in a scheduled match is going to get busted with some drugs? I must be misunderstanding you, because that makes absolutely zero sense.

I think Cena retains at Backlash, then Punk challenges him to a title match at Judgement Day. He wins the belt, gets the hometown coronation, and takes a world title back to SmackDown.
Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but the fact that they think highly enough of Punk to give him the briefcase yet again has me believing that they're willing to book him properly as a main eventer this time out. We shall see.

You are misunderstanding me. What I'm saying is, "since RVD was booked to use the MITB shot in a scheduled match and then got busted with some drugs, Vince McMahon is going to be wary about booking someone else to use the MITB shot in a scheduled match, even though that doesn't make any sense, it is how Vince thinks."

Except the following year the plan was to have Kennedy hold onto his briefcase and challenge at the following WrestleMania, and that was only changed because both Kennedy and SmackDown were decimated by injuries. I don't think Vince thinks like that at all.

HMD, I agree to an extent. Raw still has the potential for some very good matches up top (I'm hoping they run a Hardy/Michaels feud, possibly based around Hardy wanting to prove he's the same kind of tag team breakout star as Michaels once was). But the ME storylines seem to have no way of not being stale. I'd be happy to watch HHH too, if he were willing to work with actual new talent, or talent slightly down the card, and not have to look so dominant. The guy can wrestle, and HHH Vs. Hardy, or HHH Vs. MVP, or HHH Vs. Kofi are all appealing matches, but only if booked right.

Uh huh.

Ken wins MITB, tells everyone he's waiting until next WM, and you believe him. Because lord knows, heels never lie about their plans for the future.

If he hadn't fucked his shoulder up, he'dve pulled what Edge wound up pulling that Friday after he beat him for the case, and I defy anyone to tell me otherwise.

Well then what's the point of discussing anything with you.

The news sheets at the time noted that the plan for Kennedy was indeed to have him wait until the following WM to cash his case in. It was then changed when he got hurt. Yeah, he probably would have been the guy to attack Taker and steal the title had he been healthy, but that wasn't the initial plan. Of course, we're arguing a point based on you arbitrarily deciding that you know what Vince McMahon thinks, so hey.

I agree with the idea that we've seen all we need to of HHH, and that there's really nothing left WWE can do with him that they haven't already done 1,000 times.

What REALLY bothers me is that it seems like every year, the draft is ultimately built up as "Who's going to get HHH?" And that for a show to have made out successfully in the draft, they absolutely have to get Our Lord and Master Paul Levesque, so that he can suck all the energy and fun right out of the show.

If there was something Vince might have learned from RVD cashing in the briefcase it would be not to put the guy he wants to be the #1 babyface in the company in Cena in a hostile arena. That would be why it would be tough to see Cena going into Chicago defending against Punk.

Well it worked very well in my opinion.
I am pretty sure they KNEW Cena would be booed like that.
The insane heat on the match actually made it into something special.

But in Chicago there will be a fair share of Cena fans (kids?) unlike in the Hammerstein.

I just saw this episode today. You know, in general I don't know if I think the Brand Extension has been a good thing, but I think the draft is the coolest non-wrestling angle WWE has had. It just immediately has the potential to breath new life into certain guys. A convenient storyline-based reset sometimes. It sure is an easy way to split up a tag team. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to CM Punk from here, and I've never really been that interested in him before.

So much for the people who thought Christian was going to get a push on another show. I'm sure there is always the possibility of him being the "World Champion" on ECW but I don't think that means very much.

ECW should be fun to watch though. Everyone is talking about Smackdown's roster, and it is good, but ECW is pretty good too. Christian, Swagger, maybe Hart Foundation 2.0, Bourne, Hurricane, Burchill, Dreamer, Finlay withouth Hornswoggle and Striker on commentary. I'm sure they'll try and push some combination of Henry/Ezekiel/Kozlov down our throat but the rest should be good.

Plus if they keep sharing wrestlers from the ECW/Smackdown rosters then they'll be getting mostly good wrestlers because of how good the Smackdown roster is.

I've been saying it for months now and since they are now on the same brand I'm really hoping for Jericho to be a part of Undertaker's WM streak in the near future.

Your ideas are very good and well thought out. The points system may not be straight up wins and losses (for that they may have to make some matches real)
