Took me a second to get that, but I salute you, sir. That name is gold.

This made me laugh way more than it should have.

Originally posted by http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118005305.html?categoryid=14&cs=1&nid=2626
It also was a way to boost "Raw's" ratings. The stunt worked: "Raw" delivered a 4.5 rating/7 share, with 6.8 million overall viewers tuning in. The household rating was up 25% over the June 8 broadcast, which was watched by 5.5 million. It was the most-watched episode of "Raw" in more than seven years.
They say refunded tickets for the show add up to $235,000. Even if we assume that tickets were higher than normal, that sheds some light on WWE finances, having that kind of gate twice a week.
They also add that the KFC sponsorship was product placement to make up for the lack of commercials. I didn't see the show, so I don't know if that was obvious. | Zeruel

Is this some sort of week-long thing the network is doing?

USA did it to try and win the week, but presumably Jon and Kate will carry TLC to the win instead.

I imagine it's just a way to draw fans into the match, showing that these two will do anything to kill each other, etc.
That's got to be a tough assignment for a local worker though - I'm sure they told him to protect himself, but at the same time you know he's REALLY going to try and make his spot "look good".
UPDATE! Yes, it was hardway. He really did need stitches afterwards.
As I said earlier above, that was former NWA Wisconsin champ Mason Quinn. Here he is in action against brief ECW'er Silas Young.

It didn't really strike me watching it like Miz really punched him good, more like a weaselly little half punch followed by running away. But then I admit I wasn't exactly watching it too closely.
Originally posted by BoromirMark And I would agree with your line of thinking, except it presumes that WWE will actually take Miz seriously themselves. We all know...even though we hope otherwise...that he's headed for a 1 minute shoulderblock-suplex-five knuckle shuffle-FU/STFU squash by Super Cena, thus turning the meaning of the promo from "it's serious business time" to "Cena finally rolled over, smacked the Miz back down, and went back to sleep".
Most likely, which is why I am not buying the PPV. But the promo seemed solid enough. What happens afterwards will probably fail like most Raw angles do.

I missed RAW, did THE SCORE in Canada also air the show commercial-free?

Indeed they did, despite not having any real obvious benefit or intent. I've got to think that WWE reimbursed The Score in some fashion.

Boo to you sir for the "ugh" comment. The chicken product placement was great if only because of the CM Punk commentary and his reaction to the prospect of eating said chicken. For anyone that didn't see it, CM asked if he could eat the chicken and Cole said to go ahead. Punk looks blankly at the chicken as he apparently tries to think of something to say. When he can't think of anything, Punk just sort of shrugs and turns back to the ring. It was phenomenal.

That and Cole said something like.."it's chicken, It's not fried, it's good for you, Punk"
The product placement was great. You could tell they were having fun with it. Realistically you knew going in to the show that it would it happen (at least I did...or figured it would anyways...I was really hoping for the JVC kaboombox..oh well). Good fun.
