The Raw match was where Vince told Benoit and Jericho that both were going to have matches and the one who impressed him most would get a shot at Austin. Benoit defeated Rhyno by countering the Gore into the Crossface, which was pretty sweet. Vince picked Benoit.
The 10 Germans happened in the Smackdown match, which started the trend of counting along on Benoit's germans. Benoit was getting so over at the time, if he hadn't gotten injured, there's no doubt he would have gotten the title.
I preferred the Raw match to the Smackdown match, mostly because it was easier to suspend disbelief. For at least a couple moments in the Raw match, I thought Benoit could win. It's really similar to the Jeff Hardy/Undertaker ladder match, except with waaay better workrate.
It's like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain!
