I think it's more of a case of none of the announcers knowing how to pronounce it. "Khosrow" is also the Iron Sheik's first name...and WWE.com lists Daivari as having that as his first name, too, but none of the announcers said it. Odd.

I don't know if Batista will go over as well as a face as he is right now as a heel. The Raw faces have all been booked sort of vanilla and that would really kill Batista's momentum. Although booking him with that Sid type of edge might be fun since his power moves have far more snap than Sid's ever did plus he's more capable on the stick.

Another problem is that all the real good workers are face, so who could carry Batista in Main Event matches in between big power moves? There just aren't enough quality heels on Raw right now.

Funny how when Coachman was forced to be announcing by himself, he had no choice but to actually call the match.
IF they are going to show Jim Ross getting choked, could they at least not use the close-up camera angle where the belt is six inches plus his hand away from being around his neck. And, as a general rule, no close-ups of Jim Ross anyway.
Very early in the year, but Regal getting down with his bad self should be one of the moments of 2005.
At least it now appears doubtful they would go with Trip vs. Orton main eventing Mania, as giving it away for free a few months in advance would be idiotic.

I couldn't agree more with you RSN. As stated here a bazillion times, the RAW main event at WMXXI should be Triple H vs. Big Dave.

My question is now, if not Triple H, who does Orton face at WMXXI? He's fought pretty much everyone of the main eventers on the RAW roster enough times. Does he face a Smackdown guy?

And If Orton gets the shot at Trips, who do you then put Batista against?

I surely don't wanna see another Triple Threat at WMXXI.

Well, I guess they hit the abort button on Orton/HHH. I have a feeling it will be Batista/Orton for the title at Mania now. But, HHH is there and I'm sure it will turn into another three way or have a ton of HHH influence in it. I am kinda dreading Mania now to be honest.

It was good Raw with a kick ass main event. As soon as Batista and Benoit got involved I figured it would be a no decision, but HHH lost cleanly which means he walks out with the belt Sunday. New Year's Revolution is shaping up to be a good card on paper minus the Lawler/Hassain match. It should be interesting Raw next Monday.

I say Edge gets the win after some mis-timed double teaming between Batista and HHH.

Edge goes on to feud with HBK over the title and HHH and Batista continue their slow burn feud.

When Batista finally turns on HHH, it's going to be huge. WWE has stumbled onto their next major star. No matter how much they try to shove Orton down our throats, it's not working and people are getting way more behind Batista.

Just wanted to add that it seems odd that HBK has returned, landed a prominent spot in the big gimmick match on the PPV, has had much made of his issues with everyone involved, and has yet to say a word.

Did I miss a skit while I was flipping channels?

I don't know -- I think a three-way between the three (Ex?) Evolution members could be pretty decent. Much better than HHH-Orton anyways. I'm assuming that at NYR:

1) It's HHH, Batista and Orton as the last 3
2) Batista helps HHH beat Orton
3) HBK helps HHH beat Batista

Giving you two faces going for Triple H at Mania, which is at least intriguing. Even if it DOES still lead to an Orton title win (ugh).

Worse possible ending to this E/C match could be the "finger of doom!"

Look out for it! HHH is just as good and greedy as Hulk Hogan. With Batista still being semi new he could easily pull a Kevin Nash and get stuck by this famous move to lose the match.

And that'd be a great if the faces (JR, Lawler, Foley, et al.) would criticize them for using their race as a crutch. But so far all the faces do is take issue with Hassan's opinion that America sucks. By not refuting Hassan's exaggerations, the faces are essentially saying "OK, we concede that every American is a racist bastard who wants Arabs dead, but it doesn't matter because America is the greatest nation in the world and if you don't like it you can get out." And it makes them look like jingoistic idiots, even though it should be easy to rhetorically dismantle Hassan because he's basically wrong.

People are going to continue to see that Hassan at least has the kernel of a good point as long as Raw fails to present a counterargument that goes beyond "U-S-A! U-S-A!" It's not hard to do--you've done it very well--but somebody on TV needs to do it.

Did you miss the part where Lawler said that there are racists in the US, but that there are racists everywhere else?

King didn't try to pretend that America is perfect, nor did he agree that all Americans are racist. Just because the crowd didn't pay attention doesn't mean that the segment was blindly jingoistic.

I could've lived without JR's closing line though.

Man, Maven spent New Year's Eve with 70 people watching his win in a six-man tag from two weeks ago on a big-screen TV.

I am SO going to that party next year.

Couldn't disagree more. I thought it was dreadfully boring, and wasn't helped by the fact that Orton completely ignored all the rib/midsection work that HHH did in the middle of the match once he started his comeback. It would have been worlds better if he sold being hurt, and factored it in to the finish somehow. Instead it came off as killing time until the finishing sequence. Batista/Benoit and Edge/Jericho were much more entertaining than the ME.

Agreed. I see HHH coming out of the Chamber with the title and a three-way at WM, with the story going in being the question of where Batista's loyalty lies - with Hunter or with himself. Orton is possibly the least interesting part of the show right now, so there is no way they bank on him to carry Raw into the biggest show of the year. I think last night was the sign that they have finally figured this out.

I keep waiting for Hassan to bring up the U-S-A chants against the crowd. He's gone out of his way to say he's American. He was quite noticably introduced as hailing from Michigan when he came out. Yet people still chant USA at him.

All he needs to say is "See...this proves my point about the ignorance of you people. I am *FROM* America, *FROM* the USA. I am an Arab-*AMERICAN*. But all you see is *ARAB*-American. You chant USA against me because you don't see me as being a real American citizen."

I kept waiting for him to join into the chants. His gimmick needs just a sprinkle of The Fabulous Rougeaus IMO. I'm sure, deep down, he digs the Barry Manilow as well as the Sting.

The way the debate sketch (forgetting for 5 seconds that there was a crowd there) was handled happened to be very even-handed and very deft. That is, until the "love it or leave it" part. That's where it lost me.

I'm German-Russian-Brit-Polish-Irish and I would have thrown the podium, too.

MOnteCarl, you just hit the nail on the head, and hopefully Hassan has already thought of this, and he's just waiting to use it at a good time.

I was particulary impressed with Hassan's grammar, saying, "...just because I look differently than you." Differently! The long lost adverb! Not the lazy little adjective without the "ly" on the end! Holy shit! Proper grammar from a wrestler! I was so happy to hear it I almost peed.

Actually, I think "different" would be correct word to use, since it would be describing how Hassan looks, and thus requiring an adjective. "Differently" would be used if Hassan looks (as in, "with his eyes to see things") using a different manner than JR.

Beat me to it. Yes, "Just because I look differently" is incorrect in that context.
