Regardless of his off-camera stuff, Paul Heyman is a really, really good talker. He's perfect as the smart heel who gets under the skin of the faces. They really need to use him more.

Ziggler seems to be inches away from a face turn. The crowd wanted to cheer him and he just seems to have that star factor.

I'm not missing Randy Orton being gone at all.

I'm convinced John Cena will never go away. At the end of the world, it will be just cockroaches and John Cena, wearing his latest merchandise and smirking at the cockroaches.

So you're suggesting an angle where Slater does a weird snappy thing with his hands and thinks he's invisible? B^)

Raw was so bad, we are using SOAP references? Alright. The tag match and Ziggler getting Vickie were pretty much the most interest points minus Wendi, the first screw job, Richter being back was Punk kicking invisible dirt at Johnny and giving him the baseball umpire "You are out of here." If only Leslie Nielson were alive to help him out with it. And it really does bug me that Cena, not Punk got to end Johnny's reign. To the point, I was sort of hoping that someone would come out to actually allow Johnny back in. I am not sure and I really could careless where Cena goes from here as long as its away from Punk, I am fine.

Heyman was pretty awesome last night and I like the Loki/Thor reference. The question will be are they going to punish HHH for what he did or let it go? I am thinking letting it go considering Vince wasn't supposed to be in charge a year ago and is firing people. WWE really did themselves of disservice of not putting Foley in that role. Good to see Mick, but no Ryder? Seriously Bro?

I'm perfectly fine with Cena "hogging" the Laurenitis comeuppance if it means Punk stays matched up with Daniel Bryan/Kane etc in watchable to very good matches. Let the cartoon babyface deal with the cartoon bad guy, which allows me to turn over to watch Conan right on time at 11 because it means I'm not missing much in the "main event."

About the only positive thing I can think of ... There was a tag team match with two actual tag teams, as opposed to just a bunch of singles guys thrown together.

A thought occurs: the happy ending to the angle that launched WrestleMania I really had no business being played out in celebration of RAW reaching 1000 episodes when it all happened 8 years before RAW was created.

It's too bad Gorilla Monsoon is dead. A real happy ending would have been Monsoon welcoming Bobby Heenan back to the show he threw Heenan out of back in 1993.

It would go against his "One Man Band" moniker, but ...

if the 'E could find someone similarly southern (say that 3 times fast) & with Slater's charisma and throw them into a team, they could be gold ...

yes, by this & my previous post, I heart tag team wrestling.

hey, what's the Honky Tonk Man doing these days? hmmm.

I think it's a huuuuge improvement;

The "southern rockband" thing made it feel too much like they were trying to pander to a certain demographic instead of just using Slater's ironic wackness as they are now.

He's definitely coming into his own as a character and "The One Man Band" is a much cooler name befitting his deluded ways

It's going to bother me until the end of times if they don't use the computer as guest GM one week just to blow it off. Just have it be revealed to be some idiot at the end of the show. Cole would be fine even if there's bound to be contradictions throughout, but ideally make it Mike Adamle for the double punchline. Just take care of it, man.

I was with you on this one in April, Big L, but by now, Laurinaitis has hired Brock Lesnar to end Cena's career, beat him up with a chair, pinned him in a match, and hired Big Show to end Cena's career. All he really did to Punk was listen to his insults and slow-count him in one title match.

I'm suprised that noone is commenting on Triple H burying Heyman, ECW's production team, and ECW's entire roster all on the eve of the new best of ECW dvd that came out this week. I don't wish ill on anyone. Not even those I personally know who dislike me, cause I believe positivity wins over all, but shit Hunter sometimes says really makes me wish he develops Testicular Cancer.

I really wanna see where they go with Heath Slater for the first time ever. He saved that segment as much as I kinda liked the tribute to Lou and the conclusion of "The Gold Record Incident" between Piper and Cyndi. I agree with Mayhem in that Honky Tonk Man as Slater's manager could elevate him rather prominently.

I miss Ziggler's "Heel" attire. I look forward to his main event push.

I've been a HHHater for a long time, but even I have moved past hating him. Now I'm just completely bored with him. I havent cared about anything he's said or done in years. His promos, jokes, matches, they all put me right to sleep. FFWD.

Agreed. Kinda surprised they didnt dig up old footage of the original Gold Record Incident. Maybe they didnt wanna give away how the segment would end? Not that it wasnt already obvious, mind you. Then I wondered if there was someone in the original segment they didnt feel like giving TV time to? I cant remember who else was in it.

Including the Hell in a Cell match against Undertaker at WrestleMania 28? Because I thought it was the most memorable and dramatic part of the show.

Other than Cena losing to Rock, which had the advantage of not being the 99.9% predestined ending that was Taker winning again? While Taker/HHH '2' was an outstandingly-executed WWE Main Event Style brawl, I never felt there was more than a chance in a thousand that Taker wasn't going over. (Not that it's necessarily bad for wrestling to be predictable on paying off big angles, but that was basically the fourth year in a row we had the same Undertaker WM match.)

And given that they were boxed in with the crowd-pleasing finish, they really didn't make use of the Hell in a Cell gimmick, likely due to Taker's physical condition. Which was a shame for a match billed as "End of an Era" between the only two wrestlers truly identified with the Cell.

But that's my opinion, your mileage may vary.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm with Frosty on the HHHate, it's old news. Heyman saying "You're becoming more like Vince every day" was just one of those shoot comments that aren't supposed to be shoot comments. I'm guessing that when Punk went to McMahon with the pipebomb/MitB angle idea, he didn't have a plan which included getting punked out by Kevin Nash (without getting his heat back), losing a one-match feud to HHH or going from anti-establishment "voice of the voiceless" to becoming the fourth wheel behind HHH, Cena and Sheamus during the #OccupyRaw angle "can I wear your suitjacket?". It's such a cliche when HHH comes out and buries people on the mic, you either have to let it pass, or stop watching.

I can work up a decent anti-HHH rant, but what's the point? We're only really going to know for sure about HHH the impresario when Vince finally steps down from running the shows (or is carried out on the 8th rewrite of that nights' script).

Also, I thought they did a good job not bringing in the gold record until the end of the legends segment, as wrestling law clearly states that a trophy in a wrestling ring has to be bashed over someone's head. 30 years later, the segment was probably was horrible for 90% of the audience, but for someone like me who went back as far as the rock & wrestling phenomenon, it was nice to see Cyndi and Wendi come back. Cole's distractions (with Vince in his ear no doubt) didn't help make that bit any more watchable.

Oh yes, that was a nice little rib by Layla getting a smooch out of Piper.

I'd say Shawn 1 and HHH 1 were really different. Shawn 1 was just the showstopper going all-out trying to end the streak as a personal challenge. Shawn 2 was a desperate, emotional Michaels going down guns blazing. In HHH 1 he beat the shit out of Undertaker but Taker managed to hold on to win. HHH 2 starts as a re-do of HHH 1 and turns into Taker giving him assbeating reciprocity.

I think if Triple H had only worked March in 2011 and 2012, he'd be on a awesome run as a part-time act and people would feel nostalgic and positive about him. But it's the tedious, counterproductive stuff he's done outside of Wrestlemania season that makes you not miss him. It's too bad. His Wrestlemania promos and matches the last two years go near the top of his time capsule, while nearly everything he's done as the COO over that time has been the same big drain as his overbearing DX2 run and his overbearing perpetual heel world hvwt champion run. But the positive is that you no longer have to wait for quad tears to get a built-in break from him.
