This. Although I'm less thrilled about the prospects of 'straight-man' Triple H getting dragged into another McMahon family feud angle at the end of all this. I'm pretty convinced Johnny Ace is still the sleeper agent for Vince.

Cena/Punk was a great TV match, sports-entertainment finish aside. I kinda like the fact that neither man can beat the other clean. Sort of like when they'd have Batman and Superman fight in the comics for whatever goofy reason. One guy might 'win' the fight, but it's always somewhat screwy. Say what you will about the direction Punk's angle is taking now, I think he's been treated as an equal to Cena in the ring, and the crowd reactions he's been getting give him even more main event level credibility.

I feel a twinge of sorrow for David Otunga. He has the look of a true 'Superstar', and I felt like I could see little bits and pieces of his potential charisma shine through during the Nexus angle (especially when he would undermine Wade Barrett). But a great physique and perfect smile can't hide the fact that the guy just doesn't have anything to offer in the ring (and the current WWE style isn't even that flash or fast-paced, either). I hope he can get some more seasoning in the minors and come back strong. Then again, if Chris Masters is anything to go by, improving your 'rasslin skills doesn't mean squat anymore.

Punk. Oh was this a rhetorical question?

There were a couple very sloppy-slow counts in the Del Rio-Morrison match that took me out of it, as well as what I thought was some lackluster moments from Morrison.

Good times with the Miz and R-Truth. Crowd got really hot and they fed off that and each other, stalking around and generally getting everyone riled up. Nothing puts a smile on my face than the "Someone's gonna get got" line. The evil What's Up rap was a nice addition, but his lyrics got lost among the vocals from the actual song.

It will strike me as odd if they fued with Kingston/Bourne for the tag titles, as both of these guys had WWE title matches while Kingston is a some-time IC belt contender and Bourne has largely been an afterthought.

"Not Bourne in Jamaica" = Hilarious. Kofi calls out that "Boom! Boom! Boom!" like he's going to do a move but it's been so long since he hit it right after, that I've completely forgotten what it is he's signalling for.

Punk vs Cena on free TV...good stuff. The OMG Nash wasn't in the hospital was kind of obvious but I didn't mind where they went with it. I'm loving HHH being in over his head and hope it lasts. Because I hate him. One thing that seems odd is that it's been, what, 2 weeks and he seems to have had no desire to find out who sent that text.

Nous ne nous pouvons pas sortir.
If the actual story is that the bane of the internet, Mr. Glass Ceiling himself, HHH, has matured as a family man and is honest to God trying to do the right thing but the jackals around him keep fucking it up, this may be my favorite angle of all time.

Three commentators, no one calls Kofi's Trouble in Paradise from the apron.

Lawler's asinine "Punk isn't that good" got stereo "WTF" reactions from the not chummy Ross and Cole. That cracked me up.

The return of 'suntanned Superman' to Truth's Lexicon! Hell yes!

Another damn good Raw and I am more than willing to wait for Cena/Punk 4 if everything keeps playing out this well. Hopefully they ignore the ratings short term and continue to build a stronger product.

If it ends with him on the side of CM Punk, fighting the authority that got him to where he is I might riot.

Only Bateman is a heel for sure. Aksana was her last run but now (other than using the same name nobody's even acknowledging NXT/Goldust/etc) she just hits on Teddy (a face, who doesn't treat her like a heel) while someone plays the sax. Ryder's been face for a while now, if nothing else officially since he fought Cole.

Ugh, I wish smarks would...pardon the pun...STFU about this. Lance Storm has written good stuff about this, a while ago he mentioned the reason people boo him/throw his shirt back/etc is because they're not supposed to. You make him a heel and it's not cool/contrary to do so, which is over half the fun. Then there's this from his most recent commentary:

I.. don’t think Cena would be a good heel. There is a big difference between working as a heel and working as a face. The heel has to be far more versatile, and take a lot more bumps than a face does. Cena is already quite banged up, so putting him in the more physically demanding role could shorten his career. Cena is also not the most versatile well rounded worker, so he may not be able to be a good heel. On top of that he is great with media and charity functions, which he does a ton of. Turning him heel would affect that part of business too.

The time to turn Cena heel will be years from now when the people who are his fans now are rebellious young teens, like Hogan's. Turning him now is one of the dumbest things they could possibly do. With Rock/Punk they're "letting" you boo him while it plays to Cena's fanbase to cheer him louder, which is perfect.

Shut up, Josh!

I would like to point, Moss, Cena's run is going to be seven years old ie it can go to first or second grade. If we take the average Cena fan around then to be 8-13 years old then they have hit the angry teenager stage and in some cases in younger adulthood stage. It was fun when it was 50/50 chanting Let's go Cena/Cena sucks its now in some places 70/30 Cena sucks/Let's go Cena. I would also say around Wrestlemania IV-VI people were getting sick of Hogan due to how awesome Savage and Warrior were. Cena has had a seven year run while Hogan's run was probably closer to five to six years. Maybe shoving someone like Alberto will get him some fans back, but what happens when Miz, Punk or Rock enter the picture again? Probably back to 70/30.

My concern is the Cena heel turn ship has passed. He could have been the leader of Nexus and that storyline would have been awesome. Instead they go down the same Cena overcomes the odds for the 100th time. That is why people are booing Cena now. They are tired of the same Cena overcoming odds/chasing the title storyline. Back in the day, it was due to fans thinking John wasn't ready and I disagreed with that. Now, its more to do with people wanting something new either from him or the WWE and they are not getting it.

Cena may still be challenging for the title, but I think his character has become noticeably different since the beginning of the Punk programme.

Doesn't Miz do a ton of this too? Even though he's heel?

Aksana is witchy in the ways of women, just a matter of time until she's exposed like all of Teddy's girlfriends who tried to kill him. But for now she's just flirting and it would be racial profiling to accuse her of being a heel.

Ryder is booked as a face on Raw (Superstars) and a heel on Smackdown. He annoys Teddy, he books faces in handicap matches, and he gets comeuppance from angry wronged parties. And he stopped appearing on Raw so to me that makes him a heel. BUT when he appeared on Raw for that instant he was a face, so perhaps it does make sense and he's living dual lives.

I'm sure anything Aksana does will simply be to avoid being deported to Lithuania where she'll be beaten with shovels.

Ryder isn't really booked as a heel on SD, more just a goofball who makes dumb decisions (FYI Big Zeke approved that handicap match, bro) and has to deal with the consequences. He's basically Smackdown's Daffy Duck.

I want to see Ryder and Santino come out and do a fifteen minute Duck Season/Rabbit Season promo now.

Ok, that was awesome - how did I miss that? I knew there was a reason I liked Cage, Miz, and Truth.
