Dull show tonight. Champions lose three straight non-title matches? Hmm. Remember when that almost mattered a little bit?

I am certain this is what is going to happen. Miz was really pushing that "there are a million ways to make you say 'I quit,' but I won't use this, and I won't use that" idea. And they haven't used that idea since Rock/Foley.

Poor announcing tonight. Less than an hour after "nobody remembers Swagger as World champion," nobody brings up the idea that maybe he's going after Cena to prove himself? And the announcers can't figure out why Kharma flicked Kelly Kelly, even after weeks of vignettes where she flicked the heads off of off-brand Barbie dolls?

The highlight of the Observer Radio recap: Meltzer seriously suggesting that Kelly Kelly study tapes of Johnny Valentine.

I really was sold on the idea that Miz was going to take hostages to make Cena quit...it would only be fair to flip it on Cena after his "duct tape Batista to the ringpost"-shenanigans. But now I'm sold on the Riley turn...but who would be the face on that because on paper it should be Riley but I don't know if he can pull that off.

And I really liked the Miz's promo up until he attacked Cena, but then Cena's last promo in the ring...I REALLY liked that and I loathe most Cena promos.

Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

And him being able to hold Swagger up ready for the FU standing just fine on that ankle that Jack just the lock on. Nice selling there, John.

Upon further reflection and a night to sleep on it, I think the most egregious display of lazy writing on last night's show was the fact that they showed footage of a 15 year old PPV with the expectation that people would remember it... but then in practically the same breath, Cole says nobody remembers Jack Swagger was a World Champion - which is probably true, really. I mean, that's the kind of doublespeak I would expect from a show where different producers in different segments didn't get a chance to talk to each other before the show and realise the contradiction, but in the same segment? Yikes.

That said, they've really advanced in the "diseased foot SFX" department over the course of the past 15 years. I think we can all credit the Internet for this innovation.

I really hope we see the end of Cole/Lawler once and for all this Sunday but I am skeptical.

If they expected everyone to remember the 1st Kiss My Foot match, then they wouldn't have shown the clip - Cole would've just verbally referenced it. They showed the clip *because* they knew no one knew or remembered it. "Hey, here's a clip of what we're talking about to bring you up to speed." I don't see the problem with what they did. If they didn't show it, I'd agree with you.

Nice that Cena showed some emotion at the end. That's what he should have done against Rocky.

I have an idea. If The Slam of The Week (presented by JVC KaBOOM Box) really needs to focus on Kharma every week, break up the timing a bit. It's Pavlovian. When I see the Slam of The Week, I know it's time for Kharma smash and laugh. I agree that she's awesome and a very nice addition to the division, but since she's been on tv, I've seen her do the same thing roughly 11 times. I get the highlight, then it get it live. At least the ref had the good sense to fly out of the ring once her music hit.

I find myself wondering the meaning behind each of Cole's terrible tattoos.

All that matters is that, This Sunday!, Miz is going to ram Cena again, and again, and again, and again, until he can't walk (straight).

I was thinking the same thing, except does Cena have any friends to threaten? There's Mr. Cena. There's the WWE Universe. There's Zack Ryder.

Threatening the family was the original intended finish of the Mankind/Rock I Quit.

"Torture a friend to make a guy quit" was the finish to a Rock/HHH I Quit match on Raw in early '99. Kane was going to kill Chyna until Hunter quit to save her. Then Chyna turned heel and hit him in the nuts.

Ooh that reminds me, Foley quit to Flair when Flair was going to, I guess, stab Melina. That's how much Mick Foley loved Melina!

I was going to bring that up. As Flair stated, "Get up Foley, this isn't a lay-On- Your-Ass-Match, its an I Quit Match!"

Nash prefers the Lay-On-Your-Ass matches.

First: It's time to rebuild up Nexus, voiced CM. No more Mr. Nice Punk!

Then: Kharma attacks...uh, no, flicks the head of her favorite Barbie doll (She was frozen in fear, Josh...had to be in awe!). No lie - she torments with tactics.

Last: Hey, how dare you challenge The Truth? You gonna get got, Rey!

=

Stuff The Miz says, forewarning: There are a million ways to beat Cena.

Really?

Listen, don't be deaf, Geoff.
No, it's not enough to be mean, Gene.
So, threaten his dad, Brad.
Throw him on tacks, Max.
Run him over with a truck, Chuck.
Help pull out his teeth, Keith.

Oh, just record his voice, Royce.

On the subject of screwy finishes to I-Quit matches...

I remember a rather funny storyline in WCW where Norman Smiley accidentally won the Hardcore Title and did everything he could to lose it as quickly and painlessly as possible. He challenged one guy to an I-Quit match just so he could immediately say I-Quit the moment the match started.

But in a segment prior to the match, Smiley got hit in the throat by someone, and lost his voice.

When Smiley didn't say I-Quit immediately upon the match starting, the guy he faced got pissed off, and started beating the hell out of him. "SAY IT! SAY IT!"

*whack, whack* "SAY 'I QUIT!'" And the referee immediately awarded the match to Smiley, because his opponent had said it.

"Nobody ever came out and said, 'Please pass a law so I can be forced to stop doing something I shouldn't be doing,' no, it's always 'Please pass a law to force them to stop doing something that I don't like.'"
