She refused to allow TNA to trademark Amazing Kong, she might not allow the WWE to do so either. And they probably wouldn't want to since she could still go by Kong, which I doubt they can trademark by itself.
And while it's possible that the rest of the crowd will be so silently awed by her debut (ala The Undertaker) that the six people who know who she is could be heard chanting 'Kong', it's unlikely.
It would be nice if they would steal something from TNA and somehow recreate her TNA debut. The look of sheer terror on all of the Knockouts' faces when Kong walked out for the first time was priceless.

I dunno, there were distinct chants for her at the Royal Rumble when people thought she was coming out. A big 4 PPV crowd is more hardcore than a TV crowd but it's not that hard to get a chant going. I don't think it'll take very long for the new name to erase the old one though
So far, the name and promos don't scare me away. What does is the prospect that the other divas are so unversed in taking big bumps that she'll look cartoony. Beth, Gail, Michelle, and Layla will probably be fine*. Everyone else, no, not really.
Kong needs to flatten someone like a Trish Stratus -- someone who can take that bump -- and then coast on that spot when working with the other not-ready-for-primetime divas.

She's one of those rare people left where her arrival could make a huge impact that it's almost hard to believe that the WWE could screw this up, and yet I can totally see them going into teehee look how fat she is mode.
They should let her come in and mow down most of the Diva roster, but she also might have to 'earn' her spot by doing shitty angles out of the gate.
It's amazing that a company like the WWE can have such a game changer on their hands, and yet I can see the odds on them working this at about 50/50.
EDIT: OK, here. Don't say I never did nothin' for ya

Ah-ha! Thank you for finding the clip. Now THAT'S a way to get a heel over right out of the gate.
Why'd they abort that gimmick/angle so fast? Did they not think she'd be able to stay over as a monster heel? Or did Vince think the Bertha gimmick was so hillarious that he just couldn't resist?
I'd much rather have seen Rhonda as the unstoppable monster who crushes the boring, vanilla face Alundra Blayze. You could have kept her silent and given her a manager who's good on the mic like Jim Cornette. She had a great move set and a hell of a workrate considering her size.
Of course; she wasn't allowed to showcase any of that as Bertha and didn't stand any chance of getting over as a heel because the character was so uninteresting and silly.
I don't think they're going to repeat those same mistakes with Kong.
So, Michael Cole likes to rip on the Divas matches. Kong's first match sees Cole being his loud, obnoxious self. Kong finishes her opponent, walks over to the Cole Mine, punches through the glass, pulls him out and crushes him. Is that too much to ask?

She's coming in as a monster heel. That would make her the biggest face in the company.
Originally posted by ScottyflamingoDon't underestimate the effect of the Internet's trickle down effect. I remember when Tazz debuted against Angle at MSG and the whole place was chanting his name.
But that was at one of the big 4 ppv, and in his home town. I'm sure 75% of the crowd was "smart" and wouldn't be surprised if most of the ECW regular audience was in attendance.
Obviously she won't attack Cole. If anything he'll be ranting about it was time someone came in and took care of that ridiculous untalented (fill in name of Diva)
I like the simpleness of the videos. Not subtle as to what her intentions are or how she feels about the divas, but not blantantly yelling "hey! new person coming!"
When R-Truth and Morrison did that promo, I couldn't help notice how bad Morrison came across. His delivery was just so uninspired. Truth on the other hand was hilarious in the way he seemed so over the top happy before the match. You just knew someone was gonna piss on his parade.
I saw the pilot for this show when I interviewed for a job writing it. It's almost exactly what you'd expect... think "I Love... Last Week". But between Jericho and my Modern Humorist bosses, it should be pretty entertaining.
