Edge debuted his Rated R belt 2 weeks before he lost it to Cena in Toronto. The match is still up in the air.

The Cole Mine is brilliant. Look at the damage that consistently occurs to the announce table. Michael Cole has found a way to counteract that damage.
And yes, the match needs to end with a piledriver. Also, Lance Russell and or Dave Brown need to be the announce crew for the match.

So Rock was never good, people just still hated him from the Blue Chipper.

I don't think you want to start with one of the biggest parts of the match, but I think your general layout is what will happen. WWE is generally very good about being a Moment factory, and they know how to lay things out. Cole will run away, then Swagger will cut down Lawler so Cole can get heat on him, then Austin will stun Swagger to finally let Lawler get to Cole, then the strap goes down and Cole gets pounded.

I still can't get over how many opportunities they are missing with the HHH VS UT match. This should totally be about HHH getting revenge for Michaels and also for himself being one of the victims of the streak. But no history. Just the plotline of Highlander.

Agreed 100%. I thought this would be a slam dunk based on all the history and emotion and the intrigue of Michaels' role. Instead it's just about "grr we colossal titans grr die trying." Highly disappointing.

All Rock is going to do is draw all the money.

And again, when they show the pics of those being inducted into the Hall Fame, why is a pic of Shawn Michael so much larger then the others being inducted???

The argument could be made that Shawn Michaels was more important and famous than Sunny.

And finally, I think it's really time for Rey Mysterio to go. He's really slowed down a lot and can't work a long match anymore. Injuries and age really seem to have caught up with him.

If they were in Pittsburgh, we should have seen Matt Cooke come out and throw a Bionic Elbow on someone.

He would have had the free time and needed the money.

Bret/Vince notwithstanding.

In a similar vein, I'm getting more and more worried about the Triple H/Undertaker match. If they aren't really physically able to go, we don't have the emotion needed to cover the bases. If they book it like Lesnar/Goldberg (to reduce the physicality needed and to stretch it to the 30 minute mark), it's probably going to get over about as well as Lesnar/Goldberg.

It would have been the biggest pop of the night. Hell, If I wore a Pens' or Steelers' Jersey and came out through the entrance ramp, I would have gotten the pop of the night probably arrested, but still the biggest pop of the night. I am just surprised that people showed up with Ward and Jericho on Dancing with the Stars. Actually with the ratings, it looked like a lot of people tuned into that instead of Raw.

Ah, but Lesnar vs. Goldberg had the wrong people at the wrong time working the wrong match in front of the wrong crowd. In retrospect, given the circumstances, there was no way that match could’ve been saved. Taker and HHH, in 2011, are very highly revered and are basically beyond reproach as wrestling icons. They will also have the benefit of No Holds Barred that will hide their physical limitations.

In the beginning, I was all for using HBK as the centerpiece of the buildup, but with each passing week, I'm finding myself liking the total opposite direction they're taking. I think it all started when HBK blamed his two losses on his emotion and then touted The Cerebral Assassin's total lack of emotion in the ring. HHH has a strength that HBK lacked. 2011's HHH is the strongest WM opponent the Undertaker has faced, because he's actually *not* spending time talking about how Taker ruined his best friend's career.

Don't be surprised if they bring back the JUICE for this match. Just having blood will make this match SEEM better to the average joe since it has been gone for so long. That and you'll see a lot of reversals on Tombstone/Pedigree attempts.

At first, yes. If you watch Rocky in the second half of '97, after he joined the NOD, he spent his first several months scowling and looking like a mean ethnic man. He really wasn't any good at first. To watch him then and watch him even as soon thereafter as the summer of '98 seems like watching two completely different performers. Cole did the same role for 13 years and got only marginally better at it. Michael Cole acts douchey and, as pointed out in this very thread, repeats a scripted line over and over because he has no improvisational skills whatsoever. The Rock was a massive crossover star who broke box office records in wrestling. Cole's competent in his role of being really annoying, and so was Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart. But they wouldn't have made Jimmy Hart the face of the company and expected him to have the credibility to sell all their angles and narrate career retrospective of their most cherished legends. Jimmy's was an act that was good for about 10-15 minutes, like Cole's.

Cole is probably the number 2 or 3 heel with Vickie being number 1. Yes, I know neither one is a wrestler and I would normally agree with Miz or ADR being number 1, but the heat she gets is unbelievable which is what makes a great heel. Cole's antics have made him a very effective heel and its fair to say the Cole/Lawler match seems to be one of the few matches people are looking forward to. Very rarely does Vince allow a villain to be the face of the company, but HHH's Evolution Run and Austin's 2001 run are examples when he did. When he does allow a heel become the face of the company, its usually due to lack of big faces or politics.

As HHH/Taker being Goldberg/Lesnar, no way. Brock stupidly gave notice on Friday before Mania and the fans knew Goldberg was a one year contract. If HHH or Taker even came out and said they were leaving, the fans would be ok with it. They have given a lot to this business. Brock was here for barely two years, won everything, bitched about losing to Eddie and then threw a hissy fit only to leave. MMA can have him and all the problems, Dana White is seeing with him. Goldberg was sorta over in the WWE. However, he never really fit and listening to the Legends' Roundtable, he was not well liked in the locker room or by the production or really by anyone. It was a perfect storm. Thank God, Steve was in that match or the fans may gotten worse. I think Scott Keith said it best, "As a wrestling match it was terrible, as a sociology experiment, it was amazing." Thats how I view the match and it has been one of my favorite Mania matches due to the fans vs. the wrestlers mentality.

I like it when Cole repeats himself like a crazy person. He's being an evil play-by-play announcer who's snapped and talking in soundbites. I think it's a nice touch.

And people are getting far, FAR too hung up on this notion that he can't adlib because he repeats himself when he's got the anklelock on. Anybody who watched Cole do NXT season 3 knos the guy can adlib with the best of 'em.

I hope that all Cole's bitching about the divas leads to Eve challenging him to a match, Cole winning the Divas title, the following week on Raw he stands up on the desk in his Cole Mine and throws said title into the trashcan.

Headset?

Maybe your right, but it just seems odd that his ad-libbing skills seem to stop when he has them off.

I think the BOOKING is making Cole a good heel more than anything he is doing. They basically just ran with the fact that everyone already hated the guy. But I definately won't throw Cole into the same class of heels as your Bobby Heenan's or Ric Flair's. Those guys made you hate them, but were also fun to watch.

I still think he's better than Vicki though. She may get more of a reaction, but I think a lot of that is that people do not want to see her. I haven't watched an entire segment with her in ages. She's #1 on my fast forward list because she's not a good heel, she's just annoying. If you are in the crowd, you can't fast forward, so of course you are gonna get pissed off.

At the end of the day, a heel needs to make you want to see them get their ass beat, not change the channel. Cole is doing a good job with that. But again, I don't know that it is really anything he is doing as it is a well crafted angle.

Are you kidding? People freaking flip when someone finally gives Vickie what she has coming. Just about everybody knows someone that always seems to have more power than they should, is always screwing somebody over while giving one of their pets every advantage. You get to the point where every little thing they do pisses you off, that's Vickie. The worst reaction is no reaction, and if she was getting that every time out she would be off of television.

While Dolph/Vickie hasn't been as magical as Edge/Vickie, Dolph is now on people's radar. Isn't that what a good manager is supposed to do?
