You don't buy stocks to buy control of the company (especially stocks which were explicitly explained as having no real control of the company), you buy stocks to sell them for higher value and to receive revenue for holding onto the stocks (the dividend.) They're not selling because they've figured out they don't control the company, they're selling because they think it'll be worth less in the future.

Also, the investors don't think that the dividends will be as high as they have been going forward, as WWE doesn't have the cash reserves they did in the past (due to the dividends they have been paying).

You were gone for seven years and I'm still trying to deal with the fact that I never had the opportunity to put my penis in your mouth before. I was young then and you were kind of a big deal and I was shy. But now you're back and I'm kind of a big deal, I'm confident in myself and I'm very excited. I won't miss this opportunity again. Here, I brought you a present. I hope you and I can play with it together somewhere away from all this ugliness of man sweat, tights and grunting. Just you and I, in a lovely spring meadow, alone with our thoughts, letting our cares drift away like the wind through this pinwheel.

I think this was a Miz-as-a-face test run, and it went quite well. He played Ricky Morton to a tee, and the crowd got into him and Cena quite a bit. I really did like Cena's befuddled reaction after Miz got the clean pin on Gabriel after about 90 seconds. I also thought the Miz took a great page out of the Horsemen playbook (with Cena in the Sting role).
John Cena, where's that been for the last few months? Not necessarily the "rapping", but the creativity and the directness of the promo.

I have gotten so used to his schtick that I had totally forgotten just how badass he used to be. For a lot of people a doofus is all they probably know him as, so this side of him is probably very surprising to them.
I liked the UT/HHH staredown. I liked how Taker just stood in one place with the 'what the fuck is this guy thinking' look on his face while Helmsley posed in every corner. I thought the throat slash and crotch chop were a little campy, but the bit still worked.

I forgot to mention that Michael Cole was commenting on the replay something about HHH's fate and Undertaker's throat slash, then he said (and I quote) "will this be the Undertaker's fate?" as they were showing HHH giving him the "suck it". Somehow I don't think THAT will be the Undertaker's fate, Cole. (You sicko.)

Really hope you've not been serious with this shtick in this thread and it's simply to rile up lotjx.
Because you just can not, with a straight face, claim the Attitude Era is "straight owned" by a writing team and a wrestler who attempted to get "CM Sux" over as a chant and that thought "Ruck Fules" was a clever t-shirt design.

I mean Shawn Michaels had to fall into a deep dark depression, go insane, cost Undertaker the World title and put his career on the line just to get a second shot at the streak and all HHH had to do was interrupt his music and chop his crotch at him to get his second shot? That seems a little unfair.

I'd be surprised if we get too many references to that match from WM 17 other than a verbal acknowledgment of it by announcers and one or two mentions maybe from Taker and Trips. It really happened in another era, what I would call the Attitude hangover period of '01-'04. It wasn't quite the attitude era anymore, but this period was rife with embarrassing attempts to remain controversial and edgy. Rock and Austin became part-time and as such there was no clear number top babyface, though they inconsistently pushed Angle, Lesnar, Benoit, and Guerrero in top spots, and they kind of had to tread water until Batista and Cena were "made" in '04. Taker, during this period, behaved whether face or heel like one of those visiting weekly villains who came from out-of-town in every episode of the Dukes of Hazzard. They never really acknowledged this period as part of Taker lore, and I'm in favour of that. I've basically blocked it out of my memory altogether.

Therefore, Cena is intimating Rock is a homosexual, which is a pretty weak attempt at a put down. He then tells Rock to blow him, polish his balls, and kiss his ass. WOW. What amazing put downs. Cena intimates Rock is a homosexual and then tells Rock to perform homosexual acts on him. How is that a put down? Cena used to have cool raps when he was a heel. That was just completely asinine.

| #59 Posted on 23.2.11 0819.08 | Instant Rating: 9.17 | lotjx: think anyone who buys WWE stock for anything more then a novelty is deluding themselves that they will seen more then a few dollars from it.
CUBS: You don't buy stocks to buy control of the company (especially stocks which were explicitly explained as having no real control of the company), you buy stocks to sell them for higher value and to receive revenue for holding onto the stocks (the dividend.) They're not selling because they've figured out they don't control the company, they're selling because they think it'll be worth less in the future.
What CUBS said. WWE has been my favorite stock over the last several years specifically because of my lack of control and the dividend. I've never thought that the PG rating has had an ill effect - I was tired of hearing dick jokes anyway. The stock moves mainly along with the market trends in general and has still been profitable despite the downturn in domestic
That can be "blamed" on a lot of things (mainly creative not pushing people to the moon (or doing so and the cutting their legs off (Sheamus) for whatever political reasons...but I'll never say PG has killed them because it hasn't
Like F'N Shapiro said the "attitude era" has been glorified, as that was a perfect storm of the right people at the right time. The lack of experience on top in the last 5 years has been an issue with certain wrestlers come up before they are ready, and also injuries / retirements at the wrong time forcing them to change directions
I think that is balanced out some now, as new stars such as Del Rio and Miz and Sheamus all have the talent to be in a top position going forward. Vince's answer on the conference call "it very political" still clings to an old school attitude that certain dues have to be paid before a star is born
Creative and booking remain the biggest problem. But if they can get through the next few weeks without fucking up the main events (HHH/ UT, Cena / Miz, Lawler / Cole {whatever shape that takes} and Del Rio / Edge), then we have ourselves a ball game. But they just can't seem to help getting these guys in mixed tags or overexposed which ruins the payoff
HHH / UT should not touch
Cena / Miz should fuck around some but without being pinned. Rock should not be seen until the go home show (if they learned anything at all from Bret last year)
Lawler / Cole is MONEY
Del Rio should just keep doing his thing and keep away from Edge, lest he ruin his perfect face. That feud would make a great bloodbath
But as far as the stock, the above means jack shit. WM will do good numbers - I think if they can just get to that 750ish domestic, everyone is a happy camper. Live attendance and merchandise need to increase, as do DVD sales, but they have not done a full court press for many of the items in quite a while(*). I'm hoping that changes this year
(*) - think DX, last reunion. Corny, but you knew what to buy and it was a cool. A big "N" shirt is not. Miz "I'm Awesome" rules and we need toy replicas of Del Rio's cars and his manager to come with his action figure. Among other things
And to hell with Rock. Same shit as always, it's just his delivery is awesome. He's great, but the material makes the difference; Cena is just as strong on promos, he just has to make good wine out of sour grapes. Lawler blows everyone away
