TONIGHT: Vince McMahon will open the show, live from Milwaukee, no doubt to address the Green Bay Packers winning the Super Bowl (if he even knows who the Green Bay Packers are) and Aaron Rodgers sporting a replica World Championship belt. We know the title match and Chamber participants for Elimination Chamber in just under two weeks, so we’ll get hype for that.

-WWE Open.

-RAW Open.

-Fireworks (and lots of’em) shot off in the Bradley Center to begin things. Michael Cole introduced himself and Jerry “The King” Lawler as the announcers.

-Justin Roberts introduced Mr. McMahon to the live crowd. Cole said it’s been nearly a year since we’ve seen him. No mention of him just getting out of a coma. McMahon spoke from the stage, saying there’s only one thing left after the Super Bowl (“congratulations, by the way,” he said), something that has more grandeur, something that’s more spectacular than the Super Bowl, that being Wrestlemania. Not sure if this is the crowd to make this argument to. McMahon said each year, Wrestlemania has something that makes it so special, something that separates it from every other Wrestlemania. Then I had trouble following him, as he said something about performing in front of 75,000 people, something that no Oscars, Grammys or Super Bowl (uhh…yesterday?) has ever done. He said Wrestlemania’s guest host will be announced next week. That didn’t make very much sense, but maybe it’s just me. Randy Orton came out as McMahon finished up, and they passed each other from a distance, with Orton heading to the ring.

-“CM Punk” were Orton’s first words on the mic. He said he and Punk are not done, and that he’s just getting started. He said taking out Husky Harris was just the warning shot for Nexus. Punk then came out, and he said he had to sit down (he did, Indian style) because he’s stymied that he and Orton agree on something, that being that things are not over between them. Punk said he was going to tell Orton why he cost him the title. We hit the wayback machine to Unforgiven 2008, when Punk was being interviewed by Eve Torres. Punk was champion, and Orton and Legacy attacked him (hey, Manu!), then punted him. Punk said Orton didn’t care that he had to forfeit the title that night because he couldn’t compete. But he hasn’t forgotten, and he has waited to get his revenge. He said as long as he and Orton breathe the same air, Orton will never be champion again. Punk said he’s not waiting ‘til the Chamber, and that he’s going to eliminate Orton right now. He set the mic down, and Michael McGillicutty, David Otunga and Mason Ryan joined Punk in going to the ring.

All three men hit the ring, with Ryan stopping Orton after Orton took out McGillicutty and Otunga. The pecking order in this group is quite clear. Punk fought off the men and went after Punk, but they quickly converged on him to stop him. Crowd chanted for Cena as the heels had Orton tied up in the ropes. Punk’s nose was bleeding and Lawler said Orton may have broken it. Orton still fought back, so Nexus continued to beat on him. They put Orotn on Punk’s shoulders and Punk gave Orton the Go To Sleep. No retaliation in the nose department, though. Nexus stood over Orton as they went to break.

[Commercial Break]

-They showed Nexus attacking Orton moments ago, and the carnage that was left behind.

-Mason Ryan was in the ring for a match. They showed the GM’s announcement during the break, saying each member of Nexus would compete, culminating with Punk vs. John Cena.

(1) Mason Ryan vs. R-Truth
Truth asked “what’s up” to Green Bay, and Cole got on him for that, since they’re in Milwaukee. Cole went like WAY WAY over the top in his anger toward Truth. The crowd chanted “Mil-wau-kee.” Truth tweaked his knee as he went for the Lie Detector and Ryan capitalized. He bodyslammed Truth twice, with Truth’s legs hitting the ropes both times. It was clearly intentional. A third bodyslam in the same spot. Truth flipped up to the top rope, from the mat, but Ryan pulled him off by the foot. Ryan hooked in the Stretch Muffler, shades of Brock Lesnar. Truth tapped out.

Winner: Ryan, at 2:29. They sure limited Ryan here, probably a good thing at this point for his mystique.

After the match, Ryan kept the move on and went to get a chair. The ref stopped him, so Ryan locked in the move again, and even picked Truth off the mat with the move, then dropped him down. That was impressive. For what it’s worth, the crowd wasn’t cheering Ryan, either. Justin Roberts announced that the ref reversed his decision, and that Truth has won by DQ.

Winner: Truth, via DQ.

-Tonight, John Cena takes on CM Punk.

-Also tonight, The Miz will publicly congratulate Jerry Lawler for becoming the #1 Contender to the WWE Title.

[Commercial Break- I’ll say this: I’d rather watch The Chaperone than Big Mommas.]

-Punk was backstage pacing in front of McGillicutty and Otunga. He had a towel up to his nose. Ryan walked in and Punk berated him, saying he didn’t even win the match. He said he had one thing to say to him: well done. Punk said he didn’t care about wins and losses tonight (kinda like WWE on most nights), he wanted his boys to hurt and injure people, weakening them for the Elimination Chamber. “Two down, three to go,” said Ryan. Otunga sounded like he was trying to get out of his match with Sheamus, but Punk said he has a plan, and all Otunga needs is a little faith.

(2) Eve Torres & Gail Kim & Tamina vs. Melina & The Bella Twins
Natalya was on commentary for this match. Natalya’s rematch against Eve for the title will be next week. Gail tried to fight off both Bellas, but it didn’t work for her. Hey, there’s a black tag rope! The Bellas worked over Kim, choking her in the middle rope. Melina then tagged in and worked over Kim. Gail broke out of a rest-hold, but Melina kicked her in the head. Kim came back with a hard clothesline. She made the tag to Eve as Natalya told Cole to “settle your teakettle.” Standing moonsault by Eve for two. The Bellas broke it up, so Tamina took them out. Kim speared the other Bella Twin. Spinning neckbreaker by Eve on Melina for the win.

Winners: Eve, Gail and Tamina, at 2:24. I hope Melina is updating her resume.

-Our first vignette of the night: This time, the house was lit up as we were seeing it from the outside. The lights then darkened and we focused on the front door. It opened, and we again saw the figure from the waist down. He walked back in and seemed to dissipate as Johnny Cash began singing “ain’t no grave can hold my body down.” 2/21/11.

[Commercial Break]

-They showed a still of Aaron Rodgers holding the Lombardi Trophy with the World title over his shoulder.

-The announcers were shown on camera and Cole asked Lawler if he was going to wear his wrestling gear under his announcer clothes from now on.

-Cole threw it to a video package of the Elimination Chamber. Included were the rules of the Chamber match.

-John Morrison came out for a match against Michael McGillicutty. The match is next.

[Commercial Break]

(3) John Morrison vs. Michael McGillicutty
Morrison was a flurry of offense against the son of Mr. Perfect. McGillicutty came back with a forearm to the back, then a hard whip into the turnbuckle. He rammed Morrison’s shoulder into the ring post and continued to club him with rights. Morrison’s arm was pinned between the steps and the ring and McGillicutty went for a dropkick, but Morrison pulled his arm up. Morrison went on a rampage once McGillicutty was back in the ring. Flash kick, then Starship pain, then a win for Morrison.

Winner: Morrison, at 2:34. I’d like to see what McGillicutty could do in a long-form match, like 10 minutes.

As Morrison reached the stage and posed for the fans, Punk came from behind and sprayed something from an aerosol can into Morrison’s face. Then he gave Morrison a kick to the head. Trainers came out to check on Morrison, who was on the ramp in a coughing fit going to break.

[Commercial Break]

-Three minutes shy of the top of the hour, The Miz and Ales Riley came out. Our HDTV really hates the back-drop for the entrance. During their entrance, they showed a video of Punk spraying Miz from moments ago. Miz said he had only one thought on his mind when he watched the Raw Rumble last week: “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!” Miz said he was pulling for Lawler, and Miz asked him to come into the ring so he can honor Lawler. Miz asked Riley to exit the ring, as he didn’t want Lawler to feel uncomfortable. Miz introduced Lawler as the new #1 Contender for the WWE Championship. Miz asked if Lawler knew why he was cheering for him. Lawler said it’s probably because Miz thought Lawler would be the easiest to beat. Miz said everyone to him is easy to beat. No, it’s because they are very similar. Miz said Lawler used to be a lightning rod for controversy, from dealing with Andy Kaufman to the Hart Family and if Lawler had something to say, people would listen. Miz said he patterned his career after Lawler, and now, everyone is wondering what he’s going to do next, and he’s on talk shows.

Lawler said if they’re mirror images, he’d hate to look in the mirror and see a haircut like Miz’s. Lawler admitted he’s had a big mouth his entire career, but the difference is, he could back it up. Lawler said if Miz thinks he’s a modern-day Lawler, he doesn’t know him as well as he thinks. Lawler said he’s an original and he didn’t pattern his career after anyone. Miz said Lawler IS an original, an original cheap-shot artist. Miz showed a clip of Lawler popping Ted DiBiase in the chin. Lawler said it’s only a sucker punch because he thinks Miz is a sucker. He said the entire WWE Universe thinks Miz sucks, so of course the crowd picked up on the chant. Lawler said not everything that comes out of Miz’s mouth is poop, or manure or compost. Miz is right that he’s never been WWE Champion or competed at Wrestlemania. But no one knows just how much it would mean to him to accomplish those things. Lawler said he wouldn’t let this opportunity pass him by, which is why he’ll be the WWE Champion and when they interview him after Elimination Chamber, he’ll say, “I’m going to Wrestlemania.” Miz said after the match in two weeks, the only thing the world will hear is “I’m the Miz, and I’m”…..”awful!” said Lawler. He got the crowd to chant it. Miz went after Lawler, but Lawler ducked and decked him. Riley came to Miz’s aid, but Lawler threw him over the top rope. Lawler laid in the punches on Miz, but DiBiase ended up making the save. Daniel Bryan came out to attack DiBiase. He was thrown from the ring, and Lawler disposed of Miz. The GM chimed in and made Lawler and Bryan vs. Miz and DiBiase for right now. Alex Riley joined Michael Cole.

(4) The Miz & Ted DiBiase vs. Jerry Lawler & Daniel Bryan
Riley called Bryan “Bryan Daniel” by mistake. Cover by Bryan got two on DiBiase. Running dropkick in the corner by Bryan. Another cover for two. Lawler tagged in and a double-elbow by the babyfaces put DiBiase down. Hip-toss by Lawler on Miz after the champ tagged in. Bodyslam followed that. Miz suckered Lawler in and threw him through the middle rope and to ringside. Miz distracted the ref while DiBiase kicked Lawler in the head. They went to the break with Lawler in a bad way.

[Commercial Break]

Back from break, Lawler flipped out of a rest-hold. Maryse looked less-than-interested standing at ringside. Bryan moonsaulted away from a corner charge, then hit his running clothesline. Miz missed another charge and with the ref distracted, DiBiase tripped Bryan up on the top rope. Miz took over control in the neutral corner. Miz did some trash talking, but Bryan fired back with a kick to the chin. Lawler made the hot-tag and back-dropped DiBiase. DDT for a two-count, broken up by Miz. The match broke down with Bryan dropkicking Miz off the top rope, then diving through the ropes onto Miz. DiBiase went shoulder-first into the post. Lawler went to the second rope, took down strap, and hit the fist-drop for the pinfall win.

Winners: Lawler and Bryan, at 9:07. they had to get Lawler a win to give him all the credibility they (realistically) could heading into the Chamber PPV.

-Tonight, John Cena faces CM Punk.

[Commercial Break]

-Cole plugged WWE.com honoring Black History Month. Ron Simmons was front and center.

-Cole and Lawler were again shown at ringside, and it didn’t even look like Lawler broke a sweat. They talked about McMahon’s announcement at the outset. Next week in Anaheim, Mr. McMahon will announce the host of Wrestlemania.

-As Sheamus made his entrance, Josh Mathews caught up with him in the aisle. Mathews asked for Sheamus’ response to Mark Henry’s comments from earlier. Apparently, Henry said Sheamus didn’t deserve a spot in the Elimination Chamber and the GM should replace Sheamus with him. Sheamus made some derogatory comments at Henry’s expense, wondering aloud if Henry could even fit in a pod. That was weird. Once Otunga got to ringside, Mark Henry angrily walked to the ring. Henry attacked Sheamus with a headbutt, then hammered away on Sheamus. Avoiding a full Otunga vs. Sheamus match is probably a good move. Sheamus finally got the better of Henry. Otunga tried to climb into the ring, but Sheamus knocked him down. Brogue Kick missed and Henry took Sheamus down again. World’s Strongest Slam followed that up. And a second one. They played Henry’s music as he left. They certainly aren’t doing anything to get Sheamus ready for Triple H, if that is indeed on for WM. Otunga stood over Sheamus as the rest of Nexus looked on from backstage. Otunga was still in the ring when Alberto Del Rio’s music hit.

Ricardo Rodriguez came out onto the stage and introduced Del Rio, who drove into the arena, as per his usual. Del Rio made his entrance as after the break, he’ll face the man who almost eliminated him at the Royal Rumble, Santino Marella.

[Commercial Break]

-Alberto Del Rio got the mic and did his usual introduction. He said Santino thinks he almost got him at the Rumble match, but it was his destiny after all. Just like it’s his destiny to win at Wrestlemania. Santino rushed the ring and he and Del Rio sparred, with Marella eventually throwing Del Rio over the top rope. The crowd chanted for Santino.

(5) Alberto Del Rio vs. Santino Marella
Del Rio charged at Santino, who moved, and Del Rio flew through the middle ropes and to the floor. Santino threw Del Rio back in the ring, but Del Rio kicked him in the head. He was thrown shoulder-first into the ringpost. Back suplex for two. Del Rio began to work on the left shoulder, landing some knees to the area. Arm-bar was then applied. Marella tried to come back, but Del Rio put him back down. Jumping enziguiri missed and Santino did a hip-toss. Crowd really got behind him as Marella set up the Cobra. Del Rio ducked and did the double-knees to the arm. He smelled the kill, then put on the cross arm-breaker. Marella immediately tapped.

Winner: Del Rio, at 2:59. Nice that they addressed the ending of the Rumble, and it was what it should’ve been: a one-off win for Del Rio.

-Earlier tonight, Nexus attacked Randy Orton. No update on Orton’s condition. They also showed R-Truth and John Morrison getting laid out.

-John Cena was walking backstage. He said hi to crew members as he passed them. He faces CM Punk one-on-one next.

[Commercial Break]

-This Friday on Smackdown, Edge takes on Dolph Ziggler for the World Title, featuring Vickie Guerrero as special guest referee.

-Vickie then came out with Ziggler. After her requisite “excuse me” act, Guerrero said Ziggler won’t be entering the Elimination Chamber match in two weeks as a challenger, but as a champion. Vickie said Ziggler will beat Edge…but then John Cena’s music interrupted and he came out. Ziggler asked Cena what he was doing out there. Cena said he had to put a stop to this, as it was more offensive then Christina Aguilera butchering the National Anthem. Cena said he had to relay an apology from R-Truth. He said Truth may have celebrated the Packers win too long, so he thinks he’s still in Green Bay. Cena got the cheap pop by saying they were in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “Cena is starting to bore me,” said Cole. For once, I agree. Cena said the last time the three of them were in the ring together, it was pretty awesome. Cena then said he and Vickie had a sweet, sexy, passionate make-out session. “Enough!” said Vickie. She complained about the lack of respect they were being shown, and threatened to leave. Cena just told the fans to make some noise and they’ll leave. Then he led the crowd in a “Go Pack Go” chant to get rid of the heels. Ziggler and Guerrero went backstage, then Cena said it was time to get serious. He talked about Nexus taking out each Chamber participant. Cena said he was still here and still healthy and assumed Nexus would get involved. He said he would whip Punk’s Elimination Chamber and Nexus’ Elimination Chamber, and he’ll walk into Elimination Chamber and walk out with a ticket to Wrestlemania.

[Commercial Break]

-The vignette from earlier aired again.

(6) John Cena vs. CM Punk
The bell rang less than a minute shy of the top of the hour. Punk began by taking the fight to Cena, with knees to the mid-section. Cena exploded out of the corner with a clothesline. Snap-mare by Punk, then a knee-drop. He picked Cena up (by the ears!) and put him back down again. Body shots in the corner by Punk. Back suplex by Punk, then he elbowed Cena on the top of the head in the corner. Running knee in the corner missed. Cena fought back by whipping Punk into the corner and catching him with a bulldog. Punk went right back on offense and tossed Cena through the ropes and to ringside. He dove off the apron and clotheslined Cena. Running knee in the corner once they were back in the ring, but no GTS. Cena pounded at Punk in the corner as the ref warned that he’d disqualify Cena. Cena then blatantly punched Punk in the groin, for the DQ.

Winner: Punk, via DQ, at 4:53.

Nexus came to the ring to defend their leader. They cornered Cena, so Lawler slid a chair into the ring for Cena to use. Cena was able to fend of Nexus with it, as Mason Ryan checked on Punk on the outside.

Between the promo with Miz, and sliding Cena the chair, Lawler was awesome tonight.

So was the Nexus, doing their best nWo impersonation by taking out the Elimination Chamber participants one at a time. (Well, handicapping them, anyway, because as Punk rightly pointed out, "If you take 'em out completely, they'll just be replaced.")

And I like how they took them out in different ways. The spraypaint in the eyes was extremely reminiscent of the nWo, and getting Mark Henry riled up was brilliant.

I hope one of these days Natalya puts Michael Cole in the Sharpshooter. He was driving me crazy that entire segment.

And despite John Cena's weak attempt to excuse R-Truth forgetting what city he was in (hey, he was beaten up by Mason Ryan after getting the city wrong, genius), there's no excuse for it, really.

Well, the Johnny Cash song shoots down the Sting theory and brings it back to Undertaker.

I'm starting to come around on Del Rio. Maybe it was him shouting his own name mid-match.

Most likely. And damn it, I requested the day off from work.

Of course, it could be that "The Undertaker" is just what WWE wants us to think. On the other hand, it's an equally valid point that if they were debuting a legendary superstar of Sting's caliber, they'd tell the world about it instead of being so damn mysterious-- so that more people would tune in.

They're doing a great job building up that Miz/Lawler match. I'm anticipating next week's show, just to see if they go in the direction I'm thinking of and have Cole try to bait Lawler into a fight in a last-ditch effort to get him fired and off the PPV.

How much has Sheamus' stock gone down? A year ago, he'd have either seen through the obvious Nexus ploy or he would have beaten Mark Henry to the point of injury. In 2011, not so much.

That's really all I have to say about tonight's show. Very Nexus-centric.

EDIT:

Ok, I do have one last thought. I guess we finally got that follow-up on Punk's Slammy speech, regarding someone that wronged him a long time ago. CONTINUITY!

Cole was driving me crazy too - with delight. Natalya was fucking terrible. Cole was right to crap on her for her Just For Men crack. "Great plug for one of our sponsors!" Brilliant. And then Cole cut her off before she could complete her awful "tea kettle about to whistle" comment.

Again, I love Cole. He's the first guy to point out when something's stupid. I also liked him ragging on Riley's archaic sports references. "How old are you? You talk about stuff that happened 50 years ago!" But before that, he was hilarious with meta-praising Riley as Miz's apprentice: "You get to hang out with the Miz, you get to carry his bags, do his laundry! YOU ARE SO LUCKY!" Riley: "I am. I'm a smart man."

And of course Cole was the first guy to shit all over R-Truth for shouting out Green Bay in Milwaukee.

Speaking of R-Truth, I think I may start compiling The List of Nothing on RAW. Let's see, there's R-Truth, habitually at the top of the list, the perennial nothing. Ted DiBiase has joined him recently, never winning matches and getting pinned this week by Jerry Lawler. Melina has been nothing since her heel turn, also pinned every week by anyone and everyone. Michael McGuillicutty, he's another nothing. And David Otunga, of course, though he was also funny this week when he finally spoke: "Punk, you sure you want ME to take out SHEAMUS?" There's that cowardly Starscream I know and love.

Has John Morrison finally left the realm of Nothing behind, though? That's the question.

That R-Truth segment has GOTTA see him pulled out of the EC, surely.

I was not really sold on Lawler and Miz. It seemed Lawler was missing a beat here or there like Miz was supposed to say something and missed the line or Lawler just kept going without getting lines from Miz. It was just awkward. Punk bringing up his 2008 lost was great. It did seem he was having some fun with the line about waiting a long time for this as maybe a shot at the writers had just remembered it this weekend or something.

I liked Nexus taking everyone out, but why two weeks before the Chamber instead of next week? I would guess next week we have a big Nexus vs. the faces in the Chamber match. Vince focusing on who this guest host instead of matches for Mania was intriguing. I am curious who this person is and seeing how Vince kept bringing up the attendance thing, I am betting its a rapper or something along those lines. It could be Sting, but according to the WWE history, Sting was never a draw, so I doubt its him.

Its Taker for 2-21-11. I would also guess Cole being revealed as the secret GM will take place on that night as well to set-up Cole vs. Lawler at Mania. I am on the "Shut up, Cole." Train. His stunt was cute for a show no one gave a shit about, but now he is off the rails. It was ok Raw with at least a storyline running through out it. I still think Cena/Miz, Alberto/Edge and Taker/Wade is an average card and seeing how Vince was pimping the guest host, I don't think I am alone.

Both Cole and Natalya drove me nuts during the diva match, but she was worse. How many times did her comeback start with, "You know what, Cole?" Argh. Don't try if you can't stand with the master, hon. I absolutely LOVED him shitting on Truth, tho. When R said GB, I laughed my ASS off. What's up? You suck. 'nuff said.
Also, kudos to Riley's inner Ogre: "NERD." Fucking right. Now if only they had got Maryse to play the part of DB's Betty Child. Gail's nothing to scoff at either, tho. Oh, and Cole correcting Riley's "Brian Daniel...."
Did I miss something or have they had teh white posts and ring ropes for a while?
Oh, how I wanted Lil' Perfect to smash Morrison's hand in the steps. Parkour THAT, muthafugga.
Starscream staning over Shamous taking all the glory and credit for the prone body. *golf clap*
Speaking of Otunga, why did his hoodie have the old Nexxus "N" on it? Where's THAT continuity? It's all about the merchandise, kids!
If I were Truth, Id take those crutches he's going to need for his knee and clang them together on either side of Cena's ears for "apologising" for him. Good friend, indeed.
When IS the last time Cena's had a good old fashioned Nexxus beat down? Seems like eons ago.
So, was Punk's Slammy speach more about Cena and the Diet pepsi or Orton's causing him to forfeit the title? One can only hope it really was about the soda.

That was a lyrical quote from Fugazi's classic "Waiting Room," and thusly the greatest moment of the night.

"I am a patient boy...I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait! My time's like water down the drain..."

I think one of the issues people have with Cole is his antics are like that of an old-school heel colour commentator, not a play by play announcer. It's a different dynamic, which at times is excellent IMHO. Him ripping on R-Truth was brilliant and in-sync with recent characterization. I noticed the meta-praising too, and A-Ri's responses were pretty slick.

They're doing a great job of building up Miz vs Lwaler, despite the fact that everyone and their grandmother knows we can expect Lawler vs Cole at Mania.

Punk remembering (and showing!) the punt form a couple of years ago wasn't the only neat continuity thing. Daniel Bryan running out to help Lawler was great for two reasons;

1) Furthers the ongoing beef with the Fortunate Son. Who was tied into this feud last week thanks to getting punched in the face. Crazy thing is, him coming out last week made sense, because of all the people on the roster (other than Del Rio) who would feel entitled to a spot on the Elimination Chamber it would be him.

2) There is no love lost between Daniel Bryan and the Miz, what with their extensive feud before. Current feud plus a past feud with lots of heat equals a no-brainer to run in. It also of course sets up a US title match either on RAW or at the next PPV (my money is on a mixed tag match next week leading into the PPV).

Those things combined make me think there's actual serious long term booking at play here. And so far so solid.

Road Dogg got his cities mixed up in Ohio on a RAW years and years ago.

Does Truth's injury open the door for Triple H? He's on the cover of the latest WWE Magazine.

I am not enjoying Vickie overshadowing Dolph in this title angle. Considering what he's asked to do here, anyone could have gotten that shot.

No speculation on the WrestleMania guest host?

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and call it: The Rock.

RAW is in Anaheim next week when the guest host will be revealed. And I offer this exhibit to support my theory:

Down at the bottom, Dwayne explains why he'll never wrestle again but plugged working together with Vince again. I like the Rock RAW idea, but I'm guessing he'll be at WrestleMania. What a perfect way to be center stage but not wrestle.

Yeah, Rock seems like the best and most likely candidate. He can do some skits and Rock Bottom Ted DiBiase or something. And he acts as the hook to sell this year's WM "rebuilding" WM.

I admire the character for realizing that he can cut to the chase by getting the DQ and then doing it. Like Punk said, it didn't matter who won so long as Nexus took their shot. At least he got help from Lawler instead of rebuffing the attack by himself.

But I'm not keen on Lawler joining Orton and Cena as a main-event face trinity.

Hmm, I must be cynical. When R-Truth messed up the name and the announcers immediately picked up on it -- and harped on it -- I assumed it was on purpose and another brick in a slow burn towards heeldom. Maybe next week (I think someone said it was in Anaheim) he'll say "What's up LOS ANGELES??"

I thought that after the fact, too. It would be great if he came out all pumped up, jumping around, singing his song like normal, goes to the refrain and we get:

"WHASSUP~!"

I'm going to be at the Anaheim show next week - so hopefully the guest host is someone decent. The billing on the Main Event is Cena/Orton vs. Miz/Punk with Michael Cole as the Guest Ref - but who knows how accurate that actually is.

Raw was decent - I am a fan of this David Otunga. The guy who doesn't want to work at all, who gets other people to do the hard jobs for him. It was nice to see him back.

I marked for Vince - but moreso because him being out of the coma injects something really interesting into the whole Vickie-Dolph-Kelly Kelly-Drew thing. If they chose to use it.

It's an old Vince Russo trademark. You make someone a master of some match and then always have them lose said match. Is it any different that The Dudley Boyz always losing Tables matches? Or Undertaker losing Casket matches?
