That's about the best way to transition to a new champion that I could think of. They successfully took Nexus out of the title picture and seamlessly moved towards Miz. Good on them.

And good on them to start addressing (sort of) the announcing problem. Punk is the perfect guy to reign in Cole and get a rise out of Lawler while also focusing on the product in the ring. Punk in his first night on Raw is already worlds better than Striker on SmackDown.

Riley: The most awesome star on the roster has suffered an anxiety attack!
Punk: I'm right here, what is he talking about?

CRZ: I haven't paid attention to this for years, but I believe it's still the case that USA pays WWE the same amount per episode, no matter what the ratings are. (awaits being shouted down by corrections

CRZ: I settled on "Will @mikethemiz invert the spinny "W" on the title? It PROBABLY wouldn't make @MATTHARDYBRAND's head explode," which you would know if you'd ever visited @CRZ.

Here's a .gif of Frowny Girl:

Lost in all the Miz stuff is how awesome the Cena segment was. Yeah, he's not really fired, and yeah, he showed back up for the ME, but that segment? Really awesome. Having a pro-Cena crowd definitely helped, and Cena starting up the dueling chants was pretty surreal. Great segment all around.

Wait, so is it Jericho or the quality of competition now that caused the ratings go up?

Over all, pretty enjoyable show. That Cena segment really sums up a lot of the last 9 years & more to come.

Still can't believe they got behind Natalya.

King of the Ring build up for next week really gave the "WWE Universe" a good show.

MIZ! Champion! How long? Anyone up for an over under yet?

great show. Loved having Punk on commentary. Really added something that was desperately needed. Hope he can continue to bring it. I however disagree with calling Melina a 2. Won't go as far to say a 10, for sure not a 2 though.

Miz as champ is AWESOME! I really thought that he would be the first to lose the MITB cash in. Right up to that RKO attempt that Miz reversed, I though he was going to lose. Congrats to WWE for putting the work into Miz and building him to be a star to help validate his reign. It will probably be a short reign, but who cares. Miz had a dream and worked his ass off to accomplish it. Congrats Miz, you are champ and the internet loves you.

You could have waited until after the holidays. Or a Happy Late Birthday (7.7). But for Xmas (because someone believes in X and not Christ) I'm going to forward you the Swastika that CRZ made out of my Elvis Liquor Bottle. I never held that against him until tonight. Poor Girl. And jwreslte, c'mon man

You only have to look back to CRZ's penchant for Fried Food, and his necessity to CROW about it via pictures

Of all things, said (aw man, think before you type, or go to bed with a viral mania on your hands)

Well there goes my theory the "r" word CRZ was referring to was "redonkulous".

I guess the Miz payoff was as much as could have been hoped for. He's another guy who is nowhere near ring-ready for to be WWE Champion in terms of being a good reliable worker who can carry a main event against almost anyone, but everyone who fits that bill has already been champ sixty-seven trillion times already, so why not? Plus, the anointing of Seamus lowered the bar significantly, to the point where I actually thought Barrett had a real shot at it. Miz will probably have a short reign, but they can't book him any worse than they did Swagger.

I definitely hated two things about it, though: A/ yet another rapid fire world title switch, something like the fifteenth in the last couple years and B/ another gimmicky MITB cash-in, when "the Champion's weakened". Don't they realize how much this dilutes the prestige of winning a major title? The first time Edge did it to Cena, I thought it was great, because Edge was a dastardly asshole heel and it was a novel concept at the time. When Punk then did it to Edge in 2008, it was comeuppance, as Vince would say, and was also awesome because it was Punk getting a World Title before the "everyone gets a World Title" era. Every single instance other than that it has just been stupid and lazy. It should not be the de facto use of the MITB title shot every single year without fail, or now twice a year, as the case may be. Someone, some time, should have integrity, announce the shot ahead of time, win, and then not get pulled over for drugs.

You can say what you will, but with The Miz being WWE champion, Bryan being the US champ and Slater/Gabriel as tag champs there is no denying that WWE is aware of the fact that they need to build new people.

Now add King Sheamus and all will be well on Raw.

I don't agree with Hogan's My Dad.
The Miz might not be the most skilled wrestler but he is not bad in the ring, has some solid moves and knows how to sell.
His character is over, and I can see how the crowd will want to drink his blood when he scurries out of title defenses and potential losses like he has been doing for the past year.
But no matter how much of a cowardly heel he can be, he does back it up when he has to by winning big matches when he has to (or being the sole survivor on his SS/bragging rights team, etc)

I hope he gets a decent run. *fingers and toes crossed*

No, what's mind-blowing is that he somehow got to a place where he deserves to be the champion. It's nice to finally see someone's hard work pay off.

I was hoping Miz would be the first to lose MITB due to how easy it has become to be world champion. Can you imagine this thing in the NWA or old school WWF, Piper would be a three time champion while Arn, Tully and Garvin would all have a turn. RVD was the only one honorable enough to at least warn the champ ahead of time. I really can't shit all over Miz's win since he was genuinely moved by winning the title which is always nice. Riley turning on him to join Nexus would have been awesome, but they can save that for down the road. I do think they moved a bit slow on it since fans were begging for it over the summer and last night it seemed like it was a dud minus a few cheers.

Cena did a great promo, I do hope he is retired for a little bit and the run-in was a one time deal. I thought last night had a lot of emotion to it. It sold the show, I don't know if I am sold on Miz being champion. He has the mic work and a good finisher, its the in between I am concerned about as well as telling a story in the ring.

They can do a lot with him right now too. He has no friends minus Alex, who like I said could turn him due to his Nexus background. He betrayed Team Raw at SummerSlam, he threatened Sheamus while he had the belt, called Nexus mediocre and has history with all of the faces. I would love to see them run a storyline where he soon realizes instead of being the annoying mid-carder, he is a marked man and he becomes increasingly paranoid as the title reign goes on. I just hope they bring up these facts while he has the title instead of making him some transitional champion.

As for the rest of Raw, it was good for what it was and I just wish one of the faces would bring up the fact that without Cena there, Nexus can just run wild. Instead we get KOTR stuff which will last til the next PPV if that. I just wish KOTR was still a PPV instead of all the gimmick matches. I did like how it was a nice way to get a title shot at SummerSlam, but once again MITB took care of that too.

And that was an odd juxtaposition with the numerous sad faces of young fans.

Miz celebrated like he was a face. He should; he thinks he is one. But the decision to package the reaction to the new champ this way felt weird, and I wonder if the monkeys in the truck felt they needed to counter the very large cheers Miz got in the pinfall. After all, Orton is now the top face on RAW, but his loss got a giant pop. (Of course that crowd was INSANE once Cena showed up. *I* probably could have gotten that reaction had I been the one to pin Orton).

My point: If the WWE wants to continue Cena's gimmick of a polarizing main eventer, Miz can certainly do carry that ball. But telling us that kids don't like Miz to make that happen among younger audiences is audience manipulation. Miz can get over just fine by himself as a tweener; he doesn't need the WWE to nudge us to react that way.

SPOILER ALERT - from the local ads - Raw will be in Louisville Dec 6 (I will be in Milwaukee :( )

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read

Fatal four way between Cena, Orton, Barrett - and someone - was it Miz. That seems wrong to me. Whoever it was seemed a natural partner to Barrett to me. I don't really watch anymore - this is my first time in many months and I only caught like 30 minutes
