TONIGHT: Fallout from Bragging Rights, where Randy Orton retained his WWE Title via DQ. In a re-match from last night, Dolph Ziggler faces Daniel Bryan. And tonight’s guest star is country music’s Toby Keith.

-WWE Open.

-Raw Open.

-Fireworks shot off from the Resch Center, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler briefly lamented Raw’s loss in the Bragging Rights match last night.

-Nexus walked out, with John Cena and his newly-won Tag Team Championship coming out well behind the rest of Nexus. Hilariously, the crowed chanted “Cena,” and Barrett replied, “thank you.” While Nexus stood in a line, Cena was off in the corner pouting. Barrett introduced Nexus as the most dominant group around. He introduced the other members of Nexus. Barrett showed a short clip of Nexus attacking Undertaker last night, saying it wasn’t the business of the fans, but they had their reasons. That’s code for, “we have no fucking clue.” Barrett ordered Cena to explain what happened in the main event WWE Title match last night. Cena said Barrett was about to get beat-down by Orton, so he got Randy DQ’ed. Barrett disagreed, saying he was about to become WWE Champion when Cena laid his handson him. They showed a still of Cena having Barrett up in the AA. Then they showed Cena giving Orton the title. Back live, Cena reminded Barrett that he said if he didn’t win the match Cena would be fired, so he won the match. Barrett said everyone is happy then: He won, Orton is still champ and Cena hasn’t gotten himself fired…yet. The GM chimed in. He/she said Barrett is entitled to a championship rematch, and this time, there will be a special guest referee, chosen by the winner of tonight’s main event: Randy Orton vs. any member of Nexus. Barrett, predictably, chose Cena. Otunga took the mic and said there is still business to take care of. He wasn’t happy that Cena ignored him in the match last night, and then hit him with the AA. He implored Barrett make Cena pay for his actions by firing him. Barrett said Otunga and Cena can’t co-exist as tag champions. So Barrett made a tag title match right now (can he do that?). He made it Cena and Otunga vs. Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater.

(1) John Cena & David Otunga vs. Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel- Unified WWE Tag Team Title Match
Before locking up, Barrett got the mic and said that Nexus doesn’t fight amongst themselves. So, someone has to do the right thing for the greater good, that being lying down in the middle of the ring. Cena took umbrage with Barrett, but Barrett said that person is….David Otunga. Otunga was angry, as one would imagine. Otunga slowly and reluctantly got in the ring, and down on one knee. Slater seemed hesitant at first, then made the pin.

Winners: Slater and Gabriel, at 2:51. Interesting twist. I’m waiting for Barrett to say the challengers have a rematch clause, and that Slater and Gabriel need to lay down for them.

-They plugged Cena vs. Orton, still to come tonight.

[Commercial Break]

-Vickie Guerrero and Kaitlyn came out. Vickie said the one blemish for Smackdown at Bragging Rights was Ziggler losing, and she blamed shoddy officiating. Then she called out Ziggler for his match.

(2) Dolph Ziggler vs. Daniel Bryan
Before the bell could ring, CM Punk walked out. He wore a DARE t-shirt. I had one of those! Punk joined the commentary team as Ziggler tried some mat wrestling with Bryan, but Bryan got the best of him. Running kick to the gut by Bryan as Punk said he was out to scout talent. Cole assumed he meant Ziggler. Surfboard applied by Bryan to a nice pop. “King, watching his tapes!” said Punk after he asked Lawler what that move was. Bryan grabbed Ziggler under the jaw to stretch his neck back even further in the move. Inside cradle by Ziggler for two. Dropkick by Bryan for two. Back-and-forth match early on. Ziggler was sent to ringside, and Bryan dove through the ropes and onto Ziggler. They went to break about 3:30 into the contest.

[Commercial Break]

Bryan was in command out of break. Hurricanrana off the top by Bryan, but Ziggler rolled through for a two-count. Sleeper by Ziggler, but Bryan countered. Superkick by Ziggler for two. Ziggler tried a legdrop on the back of Bryan’s neck (which Cole called the Zig Zag), but missed. Couple of roll-ups for two-counts by the two competitors. They punched at each other on their knees as Punk claimed he had no idea Kaitlyn was on NXT, despite calling an entire episode one week. Another sleeper by Ziggler, but he couldn’t fully lock it in. LeBell lock by Bryan, and Vickie put Ziggler’s foot under the bottom rope. However, the ref didn’t see it and Ziggler tapped for the loss.

Winner: Bryan, at 11:05. Another fantastic match from these two.

Punk gave a slow clap from the announce desk as Ziggler and Vickie argued with the ref. Ziggler tried to sneak in the ring and attack Bryan, but the ref got in between them and Ziggler headed out.

-Lawler plugged photos of Bragging Rights on WWE.com.

-Orton vs. Cena is still to come tonight.

[Commercial Break]

-The announcers plugged Toby Keith’s new CD, and said he’d make an appearance later on tonight.

-Some of the Green Bay Packers (and children) were shown at ringside.

-Cole talked about WWE’s “pro-social initiative,” the WWE’s Wrestlemania Reading Challenge. They showed a video about the program.

-Toby Keithw as backstage with The Bella Twins, who gave him a title belt. Santino walked in dressed like a cowboy, and said when he came to America, he was all about hip-hop…but now, it’s all country. He sang a song to Keith about his love of spaghetti. Keith complimented Marella on how the song at least rhymed. Then Sheamus walked in and made fun of Marella, calling him “a disgrace.” He said Santino embarrassed his team last night. He wanted Santino to prove that he’s not worthless, and challenged Santino to a match. Santino accepted and said it would be a “showdown.” Sheamus grabbed Santino by the vest and said he better show up. “Do you think he was for really?” Santino asked Keith. Keith said it was for really and told him to hang in there.

-Barrett was standing in the locker room backstage, just staring really, when Cena walked in cutting a promo on Barrett. Barrett said the only reason Cena is employed right now is because he’s allowing it. He reminded Cena to heed his directions, but Cena said he can’t do everything for Barrett anymore. Cena took off his arm-band and ripped it. Barrett said he might have a solution for this situation, as if Cena beats Orton tonight, he’ll have an offer that’ll benefit both of them. Let me guess: Cena wins, Barrett forces Cena to choose himself as referee, so Barrett thinks he has the ref in his back pocket for the rematch.

[Commercial Break]

(3) LayCool vs. Gail Kim & Melina
Both teams were currently in the ring, but LayCool at least had their music playing. Melina showed a lot of energy and took Layla down with a hair toss. Reversal of Irish whips that looked botched, and both women went for cross-bodies. McCool tagged in, unbeknownst to Melina, and she kicked Melina right in the teeth. She then got the three-count.

Winners: LayCool, at 1:02. I hope the show was running long, because Kim not getting in is criminal.

-Lawler said that next week is the biggest election in history, or something like that. And Lawler reminded fans to register to vote. Subtle. Lawler also cracked a joke about making sure you don’t wear a WWE t-shirt to the polls (which I think folks are not allowed to do in Connecticut).

-The Miz and A Ri were walking backstage…Miz is going to give a tongue lashing to the Raw team next.

[Commercial Break]

-The Miz and Alex Riley walked out. Miz said he has accomplished more in his career than the fans in the stands could dream of in their entire lives. However, he said he wasn’t a miracle worker. He said he endured adversity last night, and overcame hardship. He said he lasted longer than any superstar on Raw, but yet the team still failed. If the rest of the Raw roster were as tough as he was, he said the Bragging Rights trophy would be right there with him on Raw. He said tomorrow, the poster child of Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 will be him, and he showed off the cover. He was on the right, with Cena in the middle and Big Show on the left. He showed what the cover should’ve been, with three Miz’s. Pretty funny. He also said the Raw team should’ve consisted of seven Miz’s. He blamed his team, Smackdown, and Rey Mysterio for last night. He then challenged Rey to come to Raw next week, and the reason people watch “Monday Right Raw” is because of him. He said he’s the only one on the Raw roster that can honestly say he’s awesome. Lawler made fun of Miz for his mistake in the promo.

For some reason, Eve walked out. Miz said he knew that Eve was there to apologize for all the Divas, but he said it wasn’t their fault at Bragging Rights. He said she should apologize for her terrible taste in men, music and hair extensions. Eve said she didn’t come out to apologize for anything. She said that everyone in the Raw locker room, and the arena, knows that Miz is nothing but a 15-minute flash-in-the-plan (and other mean things) frog-faced loser. Really? Well, the Packers aren’t going to the Super Bowl, he said. He wondered why they sent out a Diva to tell him this. She interrupted his awesome quote and said he’s the furthest thing from awesome WWE has ever seen. And he’s ugly. Riley chimed in and told her to shut up (in different terms). Riley called Eve out for what she was wearing and he said the other Raw guys are not out because after last night, they’re tip-toeing their way toward unemployment. Riley told Eve to head to the back and figure out if anyone on the time wants to take a piece out of the captain. Eve backed away and was about to leave when R-Truth’s music played. He rapped his way to the ring. Eve actually cut a nice promo here. Truth accepted the challenge and called Miz “Mr. Kermit.” He said that what Eve said was the truth. The GM e-mailed Cole, saying “ding, ding, ding.” Then the bell rang.

(4) The Miz vs. R-Truth
Big suplex by Truth and Miz got sent to the outside. Cole cheered him on as they went to break under a minute into the match.

[Commercial Break]

They returned with Miz locking Truth in a rear chinlock. Truth kept fighting out of the rest-holds, but couldn’t get much further than that. Corner clothesline from Mr. MITB. Truth blocked a right hand and connected with open-hand slaps of his own. Big clothesline from Truth, and another. Face-first suplex by Truth as Lawler suggested that maybe Truth should’ve captained the team. Truth nailed Miz with some sort of single-leg jumping stunner for two. Miz was sent to ringside again, and bounced off the announce table. Truth tossed Miz back in, and from behind, Riley shoved Truth into the ring apron behind the ref’s back. Eve then came around the ring and slapped Riley in the face to a huge pop. I mean, monstrous. Miz suplexed Truth intot he ring, but Truth countered. He baseball slid Riley on the outside. Roll-up by Miz for two. Scissors kick missed and Miz countered with the Skull Crushing Finale for the pinfall.

Winner: Miz, at 10:24. Not a terrible match, but I was thinking it’d be better.

-Cena vs. Orton was plugged again.

[Commercial Break]

-Justin Roberts introduced Toby Keith as the guest ring announcer for the next match. He was seconded by the Bellas. He told a story of being in Mexico last night, watching a football game (Packers vs. Vikings). He said he’d been in Green Bay in that arena several times. He called his pilot and said if there was wrestling going on on Raw tonight, he wanted to be there. This promo was kinda all over the place.

(5) Sheamus vs. Santino Marella
Keith gave Santino a few words of encouragement when they met up in the aisle. Santino tried to get the upper hand, but he was clotheslined down. He threw Santino out of the corner and went for a Brogue Kick, but Santino kinda fell on his butt. Sheamus choked Santino and John Morrison ran down. He appeared to want the ref to stop the match. Santino said he was okay, but fell on his butt again when he got to his feet. Morrison told Sheamus he didn’t have anything to prove so Sheamus backed away. He then missed a charge and Santino rolled him up for the win.

Winner: Santino, at 1:43. It wasn’t Horowitz vs. Skip, but it was close.

[Commercial Break]

-Cole sent it to a video package imploring fans to stand up for WWE. It was different from last week’s, with wrestlers talking about being a WWE Superstar. Cole even talked about pretending to call the action when he was younger watching wrestling. Lawler said his 17 years in WWE have been the greatest of his life.

-Gabriel and Slater were showing off their titles to the rest of Nexus backstage. A jovial mood was killed by Otunga, who asked to speak to Barrett alone. He asked why Barrett humiliated him earlier in the night. He said Barrett couldn’t get the job done last night, so he’s trying to embarrass him. He said he’s tempted to tell the world why they REALLY attacked Taker last night. Barrett said that was an interesting point, and told the gentlemen to come in. Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris walked in wearing Nexus t-shirts. Barrett said he inducted them into the group, and they’re now stronger than ever. He said you’re either Nexus or against us, and Otunga has to make that choice. Right now. Otunga proclaimed himself “Nexus.” Barrett told him to keep up the excellent work.

-Cena and Orton were walking backstage. We saw them via split-screen. That match is next.

[Commercial Break]

-Next week’s guest star: Pee Wee Herman.

(6) John Cena vs. Randy Orton- Winner Gets To Choose Referee For Orton vs. Wade Barrett Rematch
Barrett was down with Cena and whispered something to him before the match. It was a stalemate to start with neither man getting a string of moves together to gain an advantage. Orton shoved Cena off on a bulldog attempt, then stomped him on the back of the head. More stomping followed. Orton ducked on a cross-body attempt by Cena. Barrett showed concern as Cena tried to get to his feet outside the ring. Barrett snuck up behind Orton, causing Orton to punch him in the head. Cena rolled back in the ring while Orton kept an eye on Barrett as they went to commercial.

[Commercial Break]

Back with Cena in, what else, a chinlock. Orton got out of the AA and planted Cena with a DDT. Pin attempt got two. Orton slowed down the pace and hammered away at Cena in the corner. Cena made a comeback with his patented offense. Five-knuckle shuffle found the mark. He measured Orton, then lifted him for the AA. Orton got out, but the RKO was countered. Drop toe-hold, but Orton got out of the STF. Clotheslines from Orton, then a scoop slam. Orton glanced at Barrett, then set up for his rope-assisted DDT. Cena got out and back-dropped Orton to ringside. Barrett went and was about to pick Orton up. Cena charged at him and knocked him down. The two argued, and Orton gave Cena some right hands. He whipped Orton into the barricade. Orton was thrown back into the ring. Cena to the top and he hit the Sicilian Slice. God that move looks awful. Only a two-count on the pin. Cena adjusted his new Nexus arm-band, then lifted Orton for the AA. Orton hung on, then brought Cena’s throat down across the top rope. Orton, though, walked into an STF. Barrett pulled the bottom rope away as Orton reached for it. That caused Cena to go to the outside and argue again with Barrett. Orton dropkicked Cena, who rolled to the apron. Rope-assisted DDT and Cena got planted. Orton set up for the RKO as Cena struggled to get to his feet. Cena countered and AA’d Orton. Orton kicked out. Cena lifted Orton to his feet as Cole talked about the respect the two have for each other. Is he serious? Surprise RKO from Orton, but Cena rolled out of the ring. Orton went outside and tried to pry the dead weight of Cena off the mat. He put Cena back into the ring. He appeared to be lining Cena up for the punt, and that’s exactly what happened. But Barrett pulled Cena out of the ring and clotheslined him, calling for the DQ.

Winner: Cena, via DQ, at 15:36. So…why didn’t Barrett just attacked Cena sooner?

Orton attacked Barrett, but the rest of Nexus ran out and swarmed Orton. Cena came to and attacked Nexus, but Barrett got on the mic and told Cena to stop. He told Nexus to get out of the ring. Barrett said he now gets to choose the special guest referee for his match with Orton at Survivor Series. He chose Cena as special guest referee. Orton was on his feet, and he and Cena were in the ring staring at Barrett and Nexus at the bottom of the ramp. He said if he doesn’t win the title at Survivor Series, he’ll fire Cena on the spot. He said that when he wins the title, Cena will be relieved of his Nexus duties. Cena seemed to be thanking Jeebus in the ring for that, but then realized what he was going to have to do to have that happen. Everyone took in the announcement as the show faded out.

Punk/Bryan by itself would get me to buy a PPV.

Orton has zero charisma. He has referee charisma. I can't yet buy Cena having a moral conflict about taking the belt off him after all their history. And that might be the spark of a real heel turn.

It makes sense, though, because Cena's character is all about being moral and fair, and so screwing Orton out of the title goes against what he stands for (doing it for Barrett's benefit only making it worse). I don't think it's so much that he's incredibly fond of Orton, but the injustice of the whole thing.

The Sheamus/Santino confrontation backstage reminded me of Buford Tannen challenging Marty McFly to a duel.

Awesome, so we've recycled the same shitty finish two nights in a row. That was a pointless waste of the final 20 minutes or so (including an extended overrun). I really wish I could say I didn't see Cena getting named referee coming a mile away...BUT I am very intrigued by the parameters. There are so many directions they can go with this. They can turn Cena into a martyr and have him cost Barrett the title at the expense of his job. They can turn Cena into the company's biggest heel by having him do the '97 Summerslam finish and count the pinfall for Barrett. Or Cena can go with the "lesser of two evils" scenario and have Barrett win the title, lay him out, and have Miz cash in the briefcase for the title. I really do credit the writing team for creating so many interesting directions.

One thing lost in the whole "Nexus wins the tag titles" thing is that now Nexus is essentially free to terrorize both shows now.

There's a reason they had Vickie put Dolph's foot under the rope and have it be ignored. I think we're getting Dolph/Bryan Part III this Friday.

Well...they need SOMETHING for Sheamus to do and feuding with Santino and Morrison is better than nothing, I suppose.

Sigh...so McIntyre and Rhodes aren't getting their rematch, are they?

That's pretty much what I think will happen. They're not going to martyr Cena even if it only lasts for a month or two because running this angle in the first place has been such a massive departure from how he's usually handled, and there's obviously no way he actually turns heel (though they have the right foil to tease it with). This is Austin vs. Kane First Blood all over again, but this time, there's an opening for a swerve that Joe Fan would never think of, and they'll take that opening.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Orton is world champ but seems like he is buried right now. I'm even more amazed at how short Cena's memory is, as Orton kicked his Dad in the skull on Raw. Why in the hell would Cena help Randy Orton? Didn't Orton RKO Cena just last night? Like I said last week, Raw takes it's audience as a bunch of idiots who can't remember squat.

And poor Sheamus, he's back to mid-card level again although he's done nothing wrong. I think they have to put him on the back burner now because of the Nexus angle.

WWE is booking Daniel Bryan very nicely now.

Disagree- it made perfect sense as Wade did to Cena what Cena did to him just last night to screw him out of the WWE title. I'm rarely a fan of DQ finishes on PPV main events but I didn't overly mind it for BR, it's certainly fine for Raw.

Quite pissed Kaitlyn appears on Raw ONE WEEK after I attended live. Vickie/Dolph were both there last week too. Damn you WWE!

The only problem I have with this is that I'd prefer Miz actually lay the champ out himself. Even if it's dastardly, he deserves his rightful WWE title win, not some "Cena handed Miz the title"-nonsense.

It does seem like WWE is winding down the Cena/Nexus storyline at Survivor Series. Sadly, that is the only interesting storyline they have going on right now. Miz is running around the mid-card beating faces left and right with no clear direction. He doesn't seem to be in any position to cash in money in the bank unless he does against Wade at Survivor Series only to have Alex turn on him. Dolph/Bryan are having good matches, but is one of them going to jump ship to the others' show or are we going to forget that part of the feud?

I love Otunga confronting Wade about his lost at the PPV. It is going to be interesting to see when Otunga turns on Wade after the PPV or during it. Adding the two white fat boys to Nexus is predictable. Wade seems to be losing power, so he needs more greener NXT people to toadie for him. The rest of the show was just there. You would think with face Cena either being a heel turn or stuck working in a heel faction, they would make another face or two besides Orton, a threat. Instead, they keep everything status quo which leads me to believe there will be no giant Cena turn and he just faces Wade at Armageddon or the Rumble to win his title back as a face.

Co-sign this. It falls under the pro wrestling rule of Turnabout Is Fair Play (Gorilla Monsoon).

Again, Cena's acting, especially when Barrett dropped the bombshell that he has a way to leave The Nexus was excellent. Cena literally falling on his ass from the news and yelling "Oh my God!" was tremendous. Then it sinking in that would mean Optimus have to count Ultra Magnus out and give the Autobot Matrix of Leadership to his most hated enemy Megatron so he can finally free of having to wear that Decepticon armband.

The Greater Good in Cena's mind could be that he could beat Barrett for the WWE Title himself, thereby restoring the Natural Order of Justice to the CeNation and WWE Universe... but still, Cena's sense of Duty and Fair Play - the Loyalty and Respect of the three Demandments of the CeNation - means Orton continues to be a sacrificial lamb in this internal battle of the CeNexus. It's a really great scenario.

I also liked that Megatron Barrett finally took steps to cut Starscream Otunga's wings out from under him and make him fall in line. Otunga's been to the top of the mountain and Barrett chopped the mountain down with the edge of his hand to show him who really has the power in the Nexus. Barrett's super villainy was more than satisfactory.

BUT WHAT IS THE REAL REASON THE NEXUS ATTACKED THE UNDERTAKER THAT'S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS?!?!

Eve was great. Not just that her rack looked spectacular, but her promo was excellent, with her use of big vocabulary words to humiliate The Miz. She came off really well. Certainly better than Melina and Gail in yet another 60 second LayCool taking out the trash match.

The Miz and Riley had a great night. One of my very, very favorite things in wrestling is when the heel runs his mouth and a babyface shows up to shut it and FAILS UTTERLY.

Speaking of pathetic midcard babyfaces, I was amused at John Morrison celebrating Santino's fluke win over Sheamus, a win that he himself has not had over Sheamus. And will John Morrison ever beat Sheamus? I doubt it.

Everything involving the set-up of the SurSer ME was tremendous. That's a great, unpredictable main-event angle to go with, and probably the freshest "special ref" booking since Austin stunned both UT and Kane to get himself fired.

Toby Keith's promo/ring introductions were amazingly, wonderfully bad.

On the other hand, Punk giving props to Regal as Daniel Bryan's real trainer and taking a shot at HBK...whoa!

Thanks for coming back Big Zeke...I presume he was on Superstars...

I approve of this metaphor and look forward to its expansion.

Who is Wreck-Gar? Santino?

Santino as Wreck-Gar makes sense, but who is Hot Rod/Rodimus? Rey or Morrison? Orton as Ultra Magnus is spot on.

Probably. R-Truth would have to be Blaster. I guess Eve is Arcee. I'd say Sheamus is Shockwave. Is The Great Khali Grimlock? Maybe John Morrison is Hot Rod, but he'll never become Rodimus Prime.

Great, now I have "The Touch" playing in my head...

A Punk vs Bryan feud could be interesting after the Bryan/Ziggler mini feud (i assume it's that unless they go for unification)
Punk's promo style could help DB a lot.
Like the Miz did.. Berate him, but allow him the smart comeback.
Matches should be pretty good too.
Not that it can compare in WWE style, but I assume they faced off in ROH so they should be able to find some nice spots to do.

And I'm sorry but Orton is Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime.
Great as the upcoming guy, boring as hell as the big leader.

Don't know if I'm the only one who thinks this, but the Miz's promo;

Miz: "Really?"
Crowd: *boos*
Miz: "REALLY?"
Crowd: *BOOS*
Miz: "REALLY?!?!"

I could easily see "REALLY?" being the new "WHAT?".

Good show, and the Miz looks like a champ right now. Really liking the idea of Bryan vs Punk. Punk's commentary was excellent, in that he kept up being a heel, established a heel rapport with Cole, yet acknowledged Bryan's skills. If they feud, will they mention their indy/ties?

Otunga got owned, no question. A shame though that he still has no discernible ring skills and has a LAME finisher.
