I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this... Maybe I was just hearing things. Did JR really call RVD "the best athlete to have never held the world title"? I know that RVD has been complaining as of late, but is that really the reason for the sudden ass kissing by JR?

I'm also really starting to hate the way RVD throws his punches/forearms. They come across as either weak or obviously missing by a mile...

Another shot that came across as fairly sick was that chair shot by HHH on Goldberg. Goldberg definitely didn't get the hands up. HHH really seemed to get some speed on it and the dent left made it that much more impressive.

Alright, I was a bit too generous when I said Kane/RVD would've been a ***** match ... still think it's at least a ****, though, minus adbreak.

And I thought Mark Henry quite clearly blew a spot, when he snapped the back of his head on the second rope and sweat sprayed everywhere, then he landed and looked like he hurt his knee. All without even touching Spike, who he was presumably trying to hit with a legdrop or something.

Some thoughts:

-Dear lord did they make Steiner look like a dumbass out there..." We will see who is your bitch, Test" WTF?!?! Dude, back in WCW he would have made some sweet ass comment as a comeback, not that weak ass shit.

-When I got home from class, I saw the thing that happened to Spike and I was in shock. When Hurricane ran down, Me and my brother both yelled out oh shit in unison. I mean how does this guy not have HUGE back problems already? I mean Jerry Lewis, whose staged falls were never this bad, had to have a machine installed in his back to help him contend with the spasms he was having.

-Man do I hate Le Resistance and not in a Y2J heat way but a Kevin Nash/X-pac way. And I really can't stand Grenier, he is a fat piece of shit who needs to be back in OVW, he reminds me of the old 80s jobbers from Superstars with that gut he has. The Dupre kid has a future in my opinion but needs some more grooming, I mean what were we all doing at 20 years old?

-I feel bad for RVD, they have completely killed him in my opinion, I wish they could have given him just one stupid fluke victory over Kane to give RVD some legit heat. Like Heather Langenkamp in the Freddy movies and the kids in the Jason movies, just one stupid thing, you could then have him get beat and let RVD move on to face Christian for the IC.

-Evil Coach was ON tonight, I was pissed that I missed his theme music b/c its great...and all the people pissing about JR beating up Coach, ummm usually when this happens that means the other person gets the PPV win, correct? God I hope we get Evil Coach/Snow RAWs!

A few thoughts:

The spot where the main event usually begins is reserved for the Lawler/Ross vs. Snow/Coachman hard sell?
Thought at one point during the cage they were going to have RVD attempt the 5 star from the top of the cage, instead of the top rope.
La Resistance needs new music. May I suggest 'OVW Here We Come.' They've crossed the line from sloppy to dangerous now.
Hopefully, my memory is right and Steiner only has a 1 year contract, thus this will be his last PPV match.
The only surprise for anyone with an IQ over 3 with the main event is which side Flair and Orton would be put on.
However, since it was in the Von Braun Arena, they really missed a golden opportunity. The dynamic of Baron Von Rashke goosestepping out and talking about how he learned the iron claw in the German Death Camps really could have made him an interesting partner for Trip's opponent.

Bad Raw, overall.

--cage match was terrible
--Storm/Rico I actually liked. Storm got a nice reaction.
--women's match was notable only for Trish's bump
--"State of Raw" was boring until Christian & Jericho came out. Stunner was pointless & unnecessary. Jericho turns face, but Austin has to ruin it by once again showing he's stronger than anyone on Raw not named HHH. Putting Austin over every active wrestler on the show is not what they should be doing.
--big tag match was awful. Spike & Le Res are both lucky Spike didn't get seriously hurt.
--Steiner/Stevie was "eh"
--"When Commentators Collide" has no business being on this late in the show. I can't imagine how bad morale must be on Raw when JR, Lawler, & Coach are getting PPV time. "JR the Hutt" was pretty funny, though.
--Goldy vs. Evolution - you'd have to be incredibly dense to not know who the mystery partners were going to be mere seconds after Bischoff made the announcement. Beat-down was nice, but Goldy blowing the Pedigree was pretty funny. And check out HHH stealing Brock's "smear opponents blood across my chest".

Good continuation of the Goldy/HHH feud, but other than that, the show was pretty bad.

You still can't be serious. Match was terrible, slow, plodding, and boring. Kane's weak brawling, a few RVD spots, and RVD being thrown into the cage over & over & over & over & over & over. Rating it * might be being too generous.

Kane vs RVD was sweet.
i saw the cage-break coming, but i thought Kane would get ripped off. hoorah for Bishy to keep the match alive.

any match with Divas involved these days = BORING!
same spots, same moves, same order. yawn. BRING BACK LITA!

10 man tag.
poor Spike!
but it's ok, they took him to a good vet and got him patched up. and no, i doubt he asked for that to happen, they only put Hurricane through the table to eat up a little time, and make it look like they could do their job if given a second chance.

Storm!
hahahahaha, i had a good laugh for old Stormy when he won and was dancing
i think they might FINALLY turn the tide of his Un American phase.

Goldberg! Goldberg! Goldberg.....FINALLY something good happened with him involved. i'm sick of seeing him come out and win a match in under 2 minutes, so i say good, he got layed out again. maybe he's starting a two hundred and something losing streak this time?

It was a good show highlighted(to me) by Austin and Jericho.I think those two do promos well together.I was kinda shocked and saddened by the fact that Goldust didn't do his "speech-impedament caused by electricution" spot.I wonder if they are dropping that gimmick to focus more on Storms change in personality.Another week of La Resistance against The Dudleys(even with other teams invovled) is wearing down. When will the Hurricane FINALLY get a descent push alone without a partner?

Hightlight of the night for the SOK-man was easily Storm vs. Rico. The skit with Storm and Goldust beforehand was funny, Storm doing the breathe deep BITE was hilarious, and seeing Storm dance after winning kicked ass!

Whatever is happening to Lance Storm, let it continue. I think that out of everything that the WWE is doing right now, this is the best booking.

Keep up the good work, WWE!

That's not the first time he said it. He tossed that out a few weeks during the PPV.

Was Kane's most recent Last Man Standing match against Jericho? He lost that one, I believe, when a row of welded cans fell on him.

Why does he have that "I'm a badass" attitude? He's a MCMAHON of course. He doesn't NEED a storyline to explain it. I guess it's supposed to be implied.

Maybe she can kill Rico again.

I think Rob Van Dam being the fall guy for Shane McMahon disturbs me more then when Stephanie "enforces" her authority on Smackdown and guys like Kurt Angle would back down from her.

The Goldberg/HHH stuff was atrocious. No one's buying the PPV to see *IF* Goldberg can win because of course he's going to. They'd be buying to see Triple H finally lose so don't do these lame as 50/50 booking leading up. Goldberg should just be plowing through everyone and then beat HHH in 5 minutes like when he beat Hogan. Besides, they already did the bloody Goldberg thing at SummerSlam.

Exactly.

IMO, they should make it look like Goldberg has a chance to win instead of making it a forgone conclusion. It's probably just the smark in me.

-Kane vs. RVD- Not the memorable way to start Raw-MNF Day 1 as WWE was promoting. What a lackluster performance, I guess RVD ain't kidding when he says now he'll just go do his work and leave, and it shows! Neither brought anything special or unique. I thought RVD was going to hit the 5star from the top of the cage but just went for it from the turnbuckle (ain't going to get pushed anyway why bother, I guess is his thinking). When RVD went through the cage I though, I thought "Oh this is an unusual result". But they restarted... I was expecting Shane run in and do something, or RVD to step up. But very mediocre and disappointing. That's a stretcher job, there were 3 spots throughout the night that was more impressive then anything from this match.

-Storm vs. Rico- Under 3 minutes, I guess the concept of the match is to really push the "Hey cheer Lance okay" movement. Storm breaks out his sweet springboard dropkick They tried and it somewhat worked. He got an okay reaction as the match went and the eventual win. springboard dropkick.. But that entrance theme is so heelness. Found it somewhat ironic that Lawler said "Hey that was somewhat exciting, come on Storm now scream out Puppies" especially after Storm's latest online commentary.

-Gail/Molly vs. Trish/Jacqueline-Jackie is kicking stiff on young Gail, kick to the back & running dropkick to the face. Jackie gets hit with a double DDT & is out. Gail forces Jackie to tag Trish? Trish comes in Gail asks Molly if she wants in Molly ignores and Trish jumps Gail(nice touch). Trish goes for the Stratusfaction on Gail but Molly gets in front so Trish hits a double headscissors. Hey the crowd seems to be in it lets put an end that that! Trish goes for the a crossbody, gets caught... Both heels throw Trish over there heads, over the ropes & Trish lands hard on the floor(Ouuuch, I said out loud). Brings Trish back in so Gail pins her & Trish's loses AGAIN clean. Because WWE won't rest until she gets Jackie reaction. I still don't know how the hell she's even as over as she is being portrayed as such a loser. BTW where the hell was Jackie, did she fall into the disappearing vortex.

-Austin/Christian/Jericho interview- Ha Austin makes fun that his nutter shorts are too tight. Says how life is unfair that he can't go beating people up at random, Ain't that a drag. EXCUSE ME Intercontinental Champ here, I love that new catchphrase, still don't know if I like him picking his wardrobe out of Trish's closet. Christian disses Jericho show, Jericho comes out pissed and gets a babyface reaction. Beats on Christian... Austin says "That's a Wonderful display of Violence"(HA LOTN). Jericho's not buying Austin and tears a strip off him verbally and gives a added insult to southerns (where the arena gave a delayed heel reaction LoL). But decided hell why not lets drink some beers and pats Austin on the back. Uh OH Austin's reaction was classic getting totally wide-eyed and excited LoL. Stuns Jericho out of no where.

-Henry/Mack/Resistance3 v. Dudlyz3/Rosey/Hurricane-Talk about a clusterfest. Impossible to follow what was going on. But I must say I totally freaked when Henry went sliding through the middle & top rope & sweat went flying all over the place, nice variation of the unprettier by Hurricane. Henry came back in with a weak finish on Bubba... Good gawd what a disturbing spill by Spike. I've been protective of La Rez, but come on! If you going to throw someone over the ropes make sure you throw them OVER the ropes. Dammit Molly/Gail/Trish spot looked more difficult & they pulled it off, what is wrong with these guys. Didn't Bubba freak out on one of the LaRez at a houseshow. Wonder what his take on this. They improvised & put Hurricane threw a table so afterwards the Heat announcers & Bischoff react backstage & make a PPV match. Follow that with a Do not try this at home ad. Good timing

-Steiner vs. Richards- Always try to find a sliver lining in this match, but there was none here. Gawd they can't even give us a decent close-up of Victoria, anything (BTW would it kill them to give me a close-up of Lillian one time during the show. Jeeesh!). Oh look Match over... They set up Steiner vs. Test AGAIN for Stacy AGAIN on a Raw only PPV AGAIN. WTF!. Can Stacy tell both these guys to go to hell.

-Heat/Raw announcers talk- But not in a good way. First if you are going to do PhotoShop comedy stuff maybe it's a good idea no to have a far view on the first two pictures... Seeing these four in the ring. Staring each other down reassures how incredibly stupid and pathetic that they are having a PPV match.

-Goldberg/Orton vs. HHH/Flair- I'm guessing Goldberg won by DQ. Beatdown on Goldberg, messed up the Pedigree... Not an Orton fan but I give him props for selling his ribs after getting Speared. Even during the 3 on 1 beatdown on Goldberg at the end he kept clutching his ribs and looking in a lot of discomfort. Nice attention to detail by the kid.

-OtherStuff- Gotta say great improve(I think), when Gail talking to Molly about Eric and threw in "Didn't take as long as I thought" LoL. Because a segment later of her encountering Eric he's doing a satellite interview with Shane... Triple Shill, shills his energy drink to Terri... Goldberg gives his bad hollywood lines to Terri. Too much Terri. still no view of Lillian ahhhh.

-Line of the Night: Austin "Thank you, That was a wonderful display of violence". Austin said to Jericho
-3Stars of the Night: 1)Spike. 2)Trish. 3)Mark Henry.- There was nothing going on as far as matches, so I'm giving it to the 3 people who bumped and I said Wow.

MNF starts and they gave out one of the poorest shows to date. Lame cage match with RVD stretcher job which Spike, Trish and even Henry all did more impressive bumps. The only things that were good was the middle of the show interview featuring Austin. 10 men match had a train wreck quality to it that kept my attention. Storm character development was a good try and Trish's bump was impressive. Rest f the show was weak... I just don't get all these clean pins Trish is taking at all. The only way I can understand it if Jazz comes back to even the odds with a respect angle with Trish. BUT if this is all to drag Trish down to set up Lita as Trish's savoir I'm going to get so f'in pissed! Lita is over enough she doesn't need the rub of being Trish's savior and at the same time make Trish seem incompetent

Hey wienerz...

I was actually checking out some of the special coverage of the Linc (lincoln Financial Field, the new Eagles stadium), so I didn't see too much of Raw, however the big brother of mine only taped the good bits for me, the cage match (seen better), the Jericho/Christian/Austin segment (funny), the Lance Storm segment (cute smile, lol), the women's match (not you too, Gail! Not Bischoff!), and Evolution related stuff (HHH's promo was funny for some reason, but the main event ending was great. Not the screwed up pedigree by Goidberg, but the bleeding by Goidberg).

I saw it the tape earlier before I went on my busy way, and it wasn't bad at all. However, another week, another diva becomes the boss' slut. And so it goes on for yours truly.

I guess all I can add to this thread (considering I'd be in general agreement with everyone so far) is that I thought that HHH hit Goldberg with that chairshot just a WEEEEEE bit too hard. Either Goldberg got potato'd or he can sell like a MOTHER.

It was a nice touch though, with HHH smearing Goldberg's blood over the belt (using Goldberg's skull as a paintbrush) and HHH barking at the prone challenger. It was a nice visual that helped to get the point across that HHH is just BEGGING for an ass beating.

At this point, WWE MUST make Goldberg look really strong with the scant time remaining before Unforgiven. And I agree-- last night just telegraphs an eventual Goldberg World Title victory.

Also, RVD is beyond buried now. How is he going to come back from this, ESPECIALLY if Shane actually beats Kane at the PPV (I shudder...)? Maybe if he gets a win back over Kane, the man affectionately known as the True Big Stupid Red Machine Rob Van Dam could somehow get traded over to SmackDown!, which in my mind could use another face.

Actually, if I'm interpreting Austin's comments correctly, there is some doubt going into the World Title match at the PPV. Will Trip actually do the job, or will he drop the belt via DQ or Count-Out? If its DQ rule waived rather than No-DQ, that is a method for Trip to drop the belt without having to lay down. And yes, I wouldn't put it past them to use that as the method for moving the belt, as if they were going to do it with a relatively clean job, they'd make it No-DQ.

I never looked at it that way. I expect Hunter will do business but the "belt changes hands on DQ or COR" stipulation does create that drama. Hopefully "creative" picks up on that and rams the point home.

Or (and I shudder to think this) Randy Orton could run in and cause a DQ, title change and face turn for Trips all in one chair shot.

(I got a phone call during the State of Raw address and didn't care for the show enough to rewind the tape later.)

I hope HHH gets you fired.
