Speaking of blown self-esteem was there any real reason for knocking R-Truth out of the match for Henry? Did the company suddenly change it's mind or was this just part of the plan all along?

But, on the other hand, if I watch an X-Men movie and Magneto bends the Golden Gate Bridge with his mind, I don't even think about things like realism, because I know it's a movie about superheros and their powers. WWE to me is closer to watching a movie about superheros than a movie about a cop or FBI agent or anything like that. That's why I don't care about realism like I would, if I watched something different. I sometimes just enjoy what's being offered to me.
That's actually a real interesting point. See, I'll betcha that most over-30 fans view wrestling more akin to "Die Hard" and younger fans view it more akin to "X-Men."
I'm in the "Die Hard" camp: Part of what makes wrestling enjoyable for me is the momentary suspension of disbelief. Obvious fakery shatters the illusion, and great storytelling is an essential component to making the illusion succeed. For me at least.
But I also think most younger wrestling fans are more "X-Men": Great individual moments & eye-popping spots in a match are far more important than realism or storytelling. Something "cool" must happen, even if it doesn't make sense... 'cause it's the SHOW that's important, not the PLOT.

Seems like an odd reason to go through all of the trouble of changing most/all of the WWE open just because he went to a UFC show.
Someone should breakdown everyone in the new open vs. everyone in the previous open... (HINT, HINT)

I was going to do this since I hadn't deleted last week's Smackdown and Superstars from the DVR but neither of them had the opening at all. Did they pull them last week while retooling them without anyone making note of it? | JustinShapiro

Yeah like user AegisD said, he got an apparently serious groin injury at a WWE Live Event (tm) the day before they named him to the match and it became clear he wouldn't be able to be in it. I get that William Regal is in comedy mode and I get that it would look weird to have Yoshi Tatsu or Zack Ryder competing for a world title shot in what would essentially also be their first PPV match (Hawkins & Ryder shed a tear). But come on, Mark Henry hasn't done anything since February except get stepped on by Batista. Even if he does have Money in the Bank experience.
MVP should've petitioned for the spot since he had such an unfair qualifier on Smackdown and he fulfills the same quota as Truth and Mark. | JayJayDean

For a company that's said in the past that UFC is a completely different brand of entertainment than what WWE is and that the two can't possibly be compared side-by-side, the E sure looks awfully paranoid here (assuming this reasoning is true).
