TONIGHT: John Cena will have to fight off the entire Nexus, as he faces them in a 7-on-1 match. Also, Randy Orton takes on Edge. Brady Bunch star Florence Henderson guest hosts the show, and I believe she is the final guest host that has been announced.

-WWE Open.

-They showed clips of Wade Barrett and John Cena’s confrontation from last week’s Raw, and the attacks by Nexus and by John Cena on Darren Young.

-Raw Open.

-Michael Cole welcomed everyone to the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. Jerry Lawler plugged John Cena against Nexus tonight; with the attack on Darren Young last week, it will be down to six-on-one tonight.

-John Cena came out to his music. In the ring, he thanked the WWE Superstars that helped him against Nexus last week. He said one person was missing: Sheamus. Cena said when it comes to Nexus, the locker room is in it together. But next Monday, Sheamus will realize he just lost the WWE Championship. He hyped up his title match inside the steel cage this Sunday. Cena said next Monday, after Money-In-The-Bank, the champ will be here. He meant him, because presumably, Sheamus will also be there. He turned his attention to his match with Nexus later tonight. Cena said he won’t rest until he takes all of them out. Nexus then walked out on stage, with their black shirts with giant black “N” with yellow background on the front.

Cena called them “Nnnnnn” since they were all standing side-by-side. Barrett said they could take him out now, but they’ll wait ‘til later, when the whole world can watch. He said they can do whatever they want, with a clear conscience. Cena was referred to as a “hothead” by Barrett and he said NXT stands for a much bigger picture than Cena. As Cena responded via promo, Cole received an e-mail from the GM. The General Manager said that, based on Cena’s disregard for the GM’s instructions last week, if any superstar interferes this week, they’ll be suspended for 90 days. Also, if Nexus doesn’t abide by the tag rule tonight, they’ll be suspended 90 days. Barrett reminded Cena that he’d be in the ring all alone. Cena said if they take him out, he’s taking a few Nexus members down with him. Cena’s responses to the e-mails continue to be way too over-the-top and cheesy.

[Commercial Break]

-Eve Torres came out to join the commentators for the first match of the evening.

(1) Alicia Fox vs. Gail Kim
Kim got the early advantage and Fox took an odd spill in the corner on an Irish whip. Fox kept her eye on Eve at the announce table when she grabbed a rear chinlock. Face-plant by Kim, then a dropkick. Gail tried to go to the top, but Fox mared her back in. Kim tried to finish her with Eat Defeat, but Fox pushed her off and Kim ended up in a split position. As she got to her feet, Fox nailed her with the axe kick for the win.

Winner: Fox, at 1:36. Rushed. I hate when they try to fit a 5-8 minute match into 1:30, with the comeback and the rest hold and everything.

The GM chimed in and said based on Fox’s actions last week in her match with Eve, Eve is getting another title re-match, and it’ll be this Sunday at MITB.

-Cole previewed Edge vs. Orton, which is still to come tonight.

-Also, Nexus takes on John Cena in a six-on-one match.

[Commercial Break]

-Cole plugged WWE.com’s profile of 39 WWE Champions.

(2) The Hart Dynasty vs. The Usos & Tamina
Tyson Kidd knocked Jimmy Uso out of the ring quite quickly, then somersaulted onto both Usos from the apron. Kidd tried a springboard, but Tamina tripped him up. Jey tagged in and the Usos did a bit of double-teaming. Lawler compared Tamina’s handshake grip to the Big Show. Hard (and awkward) uppercut felled Kidd. Jimmy tagged himself back in for more double-teaming, but it didn’t go as smoothly this time. Kidd tagged David Hart Smith, who cleaned house. Side suplex, but Tamina broke up the pin. Natalya attacked her with a Thesz Press. Tag made and Jey superkicked Smith while Smith was rolling up Jimmy. Big splash off the top from Jey for the win.

Winners: The Usos and Tamina, at 2:44. A little too close to giving away too much for their match at the PPV.

-Backstage, Wade Barrett thanked Chris Jericho for all the guidance he had given him on NXT. They shook hands and Jericho walked away. Josh Mathews walked up to him and Jericho shoved him away with a “no comment.” Barrett walked up to Yoshi Tatsu and called him one of the heroes from last week. Tatsu said John Cena is his friend. He turned around into the rest of NXT, and took a beating from David Otunga, then Michael Tarver. He ended up on the concrete, in pain.

[Commercial Break]

-I Fight Dragons, the band that performed the MITB theme song, were shown at ringside.

-Ted DiBiase and Maryse, looking like they were going to prom, came out. They did an interview in the ring and DiBiase called themselves the Million Dollar Couple. Maryse was hugging him when DiBiase said he was referring to himself…and the MITB briefcase. He promised to shower her with gifts when he won. But for himself: He’ll win the WWE Championship. Then John Morrison’s music interrupted. Oh no, it’s going to be one of THESE segments. He came out in a t-shirt and jeans. Morrison said he wouldn’t waste his time showering Maryse with gifts, because everyone knows….the French don’t take showers. Zing! Maryse spoke angry French to Morrison. Morrison said he’d translate, and he said she insulted the crowd. Then Morrison said she resembled some sort of duck-billed platypus. DiBiase went on the attack after the crowd failed to be impressed by Morrison’s knowledge of African animals. Morrison made a come back, then stared at Maryse before he went for Starship Pain on DiBiase. Maryse pulled Teddy out of the ring before Morrison could hit the move. Morrison’s attempt at humor aside, at least it wasn’t the segment I feared, where all the competitors keep interrupting each other.

-Nexus vs. John Cena is still to come.

[Commercial Break]

-They did a Brady Bunch open with Santino, Vlad Kozlov, Great Khali and Goldust, and William Regal, Zack Ryder, Primo and Doink. It’s Santino’s Bunch vs. Regal’s Bunch I guess.

-Florence Henderson was backstage, smelling a pie. She gave it to Santino, who walked into the picture. Henderson said she was excited to be hosting Monday Night Raw, and asked Santino if his team was ready. Marella said Regal’s team is more annoying than cousin Oliver, then there was a studio audience laugh. Regal walked in and said this was appalling. Florence Henderson as guest host…who’s the new GM? Gilligan? Regal was pissed he didn’t get a laugh from the “studio audience” for that. Regal said if he wanted real advice, he’d ask the Partridge Family. Florence slapped him and the studio audience “oohh’d.”

-Cole and Lawler talked about the MITB match and Lawler said R-Truth’s replacement would be named later tonight.

-They aired a video package on Edge winning the MITB match in 2005, then cashing it in for the title.

-Edge was walking backstage…his match against Randy Orton is next.

[Commercial Break]

(3) Edge vs. Randy Orton
Edge started out with some haymakers, but Orton soon took over and delivered the Orton stomp. Orton continued his methodical beat-down. Edge with a desperation big boot sent Orton from the apron to the ringside area. Running boot to the face back inside the ring. Orton dodged a second attempt and scoop slammed his opponent. But again, Edge knocked Orton out of the ring. He was holding his head in pain as they went to break.

[Commercial Break]

Orton was still attempting to work his way back into the ring, but once he did, Edge went back on offense. Orton managed to back-drop out of a rest-hold. He took things up a notch and tried to DDT Edge using the ropes, but instead, Edge countered with a DDT of his own. That got a two-count. Edge went for a spear, but he ran into a punt kick from Orton in an awkward spot. Orton then set up for an RKO, but Edge pushed him off. Orton avoided a spear, rolled Edge up, and got two. Crowd was hot for this stuff. Back-breaker by Orton. Just then, Jericho walked out in a suit and threw his jacket at Orton, which allowed Edge to hit the Edge-O-Matic for the win.

Winner: Edge, at 11:35. Not athletically stimulating or anything, but told a good story.

After the match, Jericho gave the Codebreaker to Edge, then he walked into an RKO. Evan Bourne ran out and kicked Orton down, then went for Air Bourne with Orton half-way across the ring. Orton somehow caught Bourne in an RKO on his way down. The camera switched angles in case they missed the move, but it looked good from what I saw. They showed a replay and it did look pretty sweet. And then they showed it again…and again…and again.

-Skip Sheffield was walking alone backstage. Josh Mathews approached him and asked about the rumor that when Nexus shows up tomorrow night on NXT, there would be bedlam. He asked if they planned on taking out the rookies, pros or both? Sheffield just kept walking and walked right into John Morrison. The two went toe-to-toe until the rest of Nexus circled around. Morrison tried to fight out, but couldn’t. Sheffield threw him through a door and made hissing sounds while doing it. Heat Slater kicked Morrison right in the ribs as he tried to get up. Barrett directed traffic as they threw him into a big metal crate.

[Commercial Break]

-The Miz came out. Miz said everyone is saying how they will win the MITB match next week, but talk is cheap. Irony, thy name is Miz. He then rolled footage of his attack on R-Truth last week. Miz said he has never been more serious in his life. He said he took out Truth with his bare hands and didn’t need a ladder. As Miz was about to spout off his catchphrase, the GM sent an e-mail. The GM said that “just when you think you have the answers, I change the questions.” Miz would have to compete against R-Truth’s replacement: Mark Henry. I was afraid of that.

(4) The Miz vs. Mark Henry
Miz tried a punch, but Henry blocked it. He headbutted Miz, then press-slammed him. To the outside, Henry shoved Miz into the apron. Henry charged at Miz, but ended up running into the GM laptop podium. Miz took a couple plastic trash cans and slammed them on Henry. Henry was slow to get up and Miz emptied one of the trash cans onto Henry. I guess this is a no contest?

Winner: No Contest (no bell), about 1:00.

[Commercial Break]

-Justin Roberts introduced Florence Henderson as special guest ring announcer for the next match. She got the Brady Bunch theme for her entrance music. She got the mic and said she was feeling groovy tonight. She then intro’d the next match.

(5) William Regal & Zack Ryder & Primo & Doink The Clown vs. Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov & The Great Khali & Goldust
Regal was quickly distracted by Florence wearing his ring jacket. Marella hit the Cobra but the heels broke up the pin. Doink tagged in and Santino nailed him with a back elbow, then tagged Khali. Doink tried to step on Khali’s foot, to no avail. Then he tried a bodyslam. He took out a squirt gun and worked over Khali’s eyes with it. Khali just chopped Doink in the head to end things.

Winners: The Santino Bunch, at 1:35.

Florence clapped for Santino after the match. He went for a hug, and so did Henderson, but she dodged Santino and went for Khali. He lifted Henderson into his arms and made out with her.

-Still to come, Cena vs. Nexus.

[Commercial Break]

-Cole and Lawler previewed the MITB card.

-They showed Punk winning MITB in ’09 and cashing it in against Jeff Hardy at Extreme Rules.

-Edge was adjusting his face in his locker room when Mathews walked in. He congratulated Edge for his win earlier tonight, but Edge said it wasn’t that difficult. He thanked Jericho for the wake-up call after the match. Edge said there’s a voice in his head that tells him that he has no morals and he’ll do anything to win the MITB match, even if it means destroying the lives of the other competitors. He’s getting eerily close to reciting some lines from Orton’s theme song. He said he talks to it as well and that at MITB, the fun truly begins. Creepy finish to the promo.

-A trainer was icing Evan Bourne’s neck backstage when Sheamus walked up to Bourne. He asked if Bourne was okay, and he said Bourne is lucky it wasn’t him. Then Nexus walked up and Sheamus pointed to Bourne and called him one of Cena’s heroes. He said Bourne was telling him how proud he was that he helped jump Nexus last week and that they may want to have a word with him. Sheamus walked off as Barrett slammed the back of Bourne’s head against the metal dealie that Morrison fell victim to. When Nexus left, Sheamus walked up to him and called him “Little Evan Bourne,” and he said that would teach him a lesson. Nexus appeared again and Sheamus got nervous. He slowly rose to his feet (he was kneeling next to Bourne). Sheffield made a move toward him and Sheamus high-tailed it. He asked a PA where Cena’s locker room was, then headed off in that direction.

[Commercial Break]

(6) The Nexus vs. John Cena
I don’t think Justin Roberts even pronounced the “n” in “Cena” that time. Cena took the punishment to Michael Tarver then Justin Gabriel. Quick tags by Nexus when they think they are outmanned. Long lock-up and Cena fought out of the Nexus corner. He kept moving and they all retreated to ringside to game plan. Heath Slater attacked from behind to allow Sheffield to one-up Cena. Slater tagged in and dropped Cena with a suplex. When David Otunga tagged in, Cena found new life, but was quickly put back down. Cena with a suplex, and Otunga quickly tagged out. Barrett with a big boot. As soon as Cole proclaimed that the beginning of the end, Cena went into his comeback and looked like he hadn’t been beaten up at all. Five-Knuckle Shuffle on Barrett, who collapsed in his corner. Attitude Adjustment, but Sheffield broke up the pin. He had made a blind tag a second earlier. Running clothesline, then a tag to Otunga. Otunga pounded him down then Gabriel came in. 450 splash and Gabriel, interestingly enough, picked up the win for his team.

Winners: The Nexus, at 7:17. Effective at getting Nexus over as a threat, and good that they got the win here.

When it looked like Nexus was going to get some more, all of a sudden, Cena popped up and went to ringside, grabbing a chair to run off Nexus. They gathered at ringside to go over their plan of action, and they began to surround the ring. Cena was busted open above the eye. As Nexus got on the apron, Sheamus ran down with a chair and cleared the apron. Cena used the chair on Otunga. Nexus ran up the stage as Cena and Sheamus stood tall in the ring.

It's an absolute shame that they turned the camera away for Orton's SICK-looking RKO on Bourne. I understand why they did it, but they have to take chances at times like that. Showing the replay a million times doesn't make up for the fact that they purposely missed it the first time.

I thought it was too early for Sheamus to realize that the Nexus wasn't loyal to him. I was actually expecting the Nexus to give him his beatdown after the PPV.

Is that the first time Edge has gotten the pin with the Edge-O-Matic? I can't remember that move ever actually winning a match for him.

The reason they did that was because the move looked absolutely terrible. The one time they showed a legitimate angle, you could see plain as day that Orton didn't touch Bourne until he was basically already facedown on the mat.

It was a cool idea, but absolutely, positively impossible to execute in a way that didn't look stupid.

They should've saved the Shooting StaRKO for the Money in the Bank match cuz nothing's topping that. Evan should've hit it tonight and then gotten RKO'd in take 2 at the PPV.

I think after all this time Edge just thinks he did win the WM23 Money in the Bank. I guess he did get a concussion during the match. Anyway, Edge is a liar, he's neither been in nor won the most MITB matches. Not even close!

Mark Henry, get the fuck out of here. He's not going to hurt the match but he's not going to help it and Smackdown's already filled the quota for loads in a ladder match.

The Edge-o-Matic got three?

The Edge-o-Matic got three?

My memory might be failing me at the moment, but man, I can't remember anybody getting pinned by that ever. That was just weird to see.

Also, in the grand scheme of stunts that'll get a backyard wrestler killed one of these days, the Shooting Star Press into one-third of an RKO is definitely a frontrunner now.

I was excited for Bourne to get his cheap shot back on Randy from last week. Nevermind.

I was also excited for Sheamus to come out and tease an alliance with Cena only to recall he has a cage match with him Sunday and lay him out at the end. Nevermind.

Man Mark Henry is a crappy replacement. Hope the Raw guest host stuff is over after tonight. I can't take anymore of Gerwitz's and the other failed comedy writers lame ass jokes. Poor Regal is in the same role Chavo was last year. He deserves much better. This feud isn't as bad as Hornswoggle-Chavo but bloody awful. Remember when Santino was funny? I'm starting to forget. Doink the clown in 2010? Really? Orton-Edge was fine but slow paced. One week the guest host lifts some famous Austin lines the next a famous Piper line. Main Event was eh. Too much Otunga in the ring. Really good Edge promo and intrigue with Jericho and Barrett. I still think Jericho will catch a beating from Nexus. I was surprised that Gabriel pinned Cena.

I'm glad he never had that extended run with the Intercontinental Title. Then again, I didn't think he should have held it in the first place.

People are afraid of clowns. Honestly, if properly and organically done, there is a way to make the Doink the Clown gimmick work as a good heel in 2010.

Also--and this is just me talking--I think Ted DiBiase Jr. needs to grow a beard and increase his chickenshittiness by 34 percent.

I thought Sheamus was going to interfere to get himself suspended and avoid wrestling Cena at the PPV.

I like the potential Bourne/Gabriel feud that could be brewing.

I was wondering why Hornswaggle and Dink weren't in the Santino match and the I realized that they are probably saving that doozy for next week.

Can anyone throw up a clip of the RKO?

He took the pin, but that might have been the worst case of Super Cena yet. Take 3 finishers, get pinned, then mysteriously be fresher than you were before the 6 on 1 to grab a chair. That is bordering on Helmsley at his worst.

Yeha, that pissed me off. he took the 450, then not even a minute later jumped right up like nothing happened.

I thought the same thing, but that's what the booking called for there. He had to run out and get the chair before the Nexus could stop him, so he had to be moving. I'd blame bad booking over Cena - I'm really not sure how else he was supposed to do that.

On another note, I was just thinking about Doink the Clown. Evil Clown - good gimmick; Regular Clown - not so much. But who was playing him last night?

Its not just bad booking last night with Cena, its been bad booking with Cena since he moved to Raw in 2005. He has sold a torn of merchandise and done good things with the company, I am not going to argue that. I am going to argue that the Super-Cena booking has reached the Hogan level of unbelievability hen it comes to his comebacks.

Its actually hurting the Nexus storyline. Its a great idea of booking for Nexus to go after the face of the WWE ie Cena and destroy him. They did a great job, the first night, but to be fair that is all they have done that has been booked right. Cena should have been put on the shelf til SummerSlam or maybe the PPV after it. The whole Daneilson issue is now an internet joke. They did ok skirting by the passport issue with Wade, but where is the real threat. They beat up the legends, ok Orton did that almost single handily and he is not the first guy to do it. Now, they win a 6 on 1 match against Cena after taking a beating and run off when Sheamus arrives and Cena rises from the dead with a chair. Nexus was supposed to be the new big threat like the Horsemen, NWO, Evolution and so on, yet they can't take out one guy or two guys or even half their number? It might have been easier for the Nexus storyline to work their way up to Cena instead of blowing their load on having one OMG night. Or at least make the fans care about Cena by either putting him on the shelf or continuing to take brutal beating after brutal without the resurrection of John Cena taking place 30 seconds after said brutal beating.
