TONIGHT: Will last night’s Royal Rumble winner, Randy Orton, face any repercussions for his punt of Vince McMahon last week? Also tonight, qualifying matches to see who will be in the Raw Elimination Chamber match for the World Title at No Way Out. Plus, the tag titles are on the line when Cryme Tyme faces Miz & Morrison. Then, what will the fallout be from the JBL/Shawn Michaels saga and Melina winning the Women’s title from Beth Phoenix?

-WWE Open.

-A Randy Orton-themed video package aired, showing what happened last week between Orton and the McMahons.

-The show opened with Lillian Garcia introducing Randy Orton, who came to the ring accompanied by Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase and three men in suits. Michael Cole said Orton would be reprimanded tonight for his actions last week. Randy, after introducing himself, introduced his lawyers, his therapist and the other members of The Legacy. Orton said he came out to discuss the events from last week. He said WWE is a part of him, in his blood. He said something else is a part of him too, something he’s been living with for quite some time. Orton said he’s been living with “IED,” Intermittent Explosive Disorder. He read a piece of paper given to him by his therapist, and talked about the disorder. Apparently, 16 million suffer in the country and those with it become violent when sufficiently provoked. Orton said he was not responsible for his actions. In other words.....it wasn’t his fault? Orton said if Stephanie McMahon fires him tonight, he’ll sue her and WWE.

Orton then transitioned to talking about winning the Rumble than said he was “more superior” to everyone in the company. Not when it comes to grammar. Orton also said a second lawsuit would come if someone tried to stop him, the rightful winner of the title shot at WrestleMania, from competing there. Orton said if he gets fired, Cody and Teddy would walk too. Randy had one more piece of business for us, and he was handed a piece of paper by his lawyer. Someone shouted “he can’t read!” and Orton looked behind him, looking for the guy in the crowd. Orton read an apology for what happened last week, apologizing for the trauma Vince and his family has suffered through this week. Orton read that he hoped the ugly incident could be put behind them and that they could move forward. “You suck” chants from the crowd. He offered his sincerest apologies to the McMahons and the fans. Well, they had to figure a way to not fire Orton and I guess this is as good as any. When Orton was leaving, they showed Stephanie in her office watching Orton walking up the ramp and brooding while doing so.

[Commercial Break]

(1) Cryme Tyme vs. The Miz & John Morrison- World Tag-Team Title Match
Miz and JTG started things off. JTG got a quick pin attempt on a move that Jerry Lawler said JTG calls “The Mug Shot.” Morrison caused a distraction, allowing Miz to take over offensively. JTG got out of a suplex attempt and tagged Shad. Crowd is into this one. Big beal out of the corner by Shad. Powerslam by Shad for two. Morrison tried to set up for the Moonlight Drive, but Shad planted him instead and Miz interfered. JTG took Miz out, then Shad booted him off the apron. Morrison, from behind, kicked Shad in the leg and hit his finisher for the win.

Winners: Miz & Morrison, at 2:59.

-Jerry Lawler talked to the camera, saying that Vince McMahon believes that “the show must go on.” And with that, in under three weeks, the Elimination Chamber returns at No Way Out. We got a video package on the Chamber as well. Lawler then said that both the WWE Title and World Title would be defended inside the Chamber.

-JBL came out and said that Shawn Michaels is wrestling on behalf of him tonight in a qualifying match. If HBK wins, JBL will be in the Chamber match and he will win. Apparently, Michaels is facing John Cena.

[Commercial Break]

-Tonight is the World Televison Premier of John Cena’s “12 Rounds” trailer. “Trailer” is the key word they didn’t use last week when plugging this video.

(1) Kofi Kingston vs. Kane- Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
Kofi jumped right into Kane’s arms and Kane slammed him down. Seated dropkick followed. Kane whipped Kofi into the buckle, then splashed him. He missed a second splash though and then ran into a boot. Clothesline off the top was next. Kane set up for a chokeslam and Kofi booted him in the head, but Kane came back with another chokeslam attempt. Kofi weasled out of it and rolled Kane up for three.

Winner: Kingston, at 2:05. I’m bored of Kane and it’s good for them to infuse some new blood into a Chamber match. Of course, they’re probably only doing this so Kofi can fly around the Chamber. Kofi has been losing lately so this was a nice upset.

-They showed Orton and McMahon confrontation from last week briefly, then Cole & Lawler plugged Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena for later on.

[Commercial Break]

-Chris Jericho, mic in hand, came out to the top of the ramp. Jericho talked about how everyone loves the movie “The Wrestler,” starring Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke. He then sent it to a video of some clips of the movie as well as Rourke and Darren Aronofsky making comments. Looks like the same one that aired on Smackdown. Jericho said one person who gave a glowing review of the movie was Ric Flair. Jericho said even though Flair is retired, he has a desire to stay in the spotlight. Apparently, Flair and Rourke have become friends but Jericho said Flair gave Rourke some bad advice. Then they showed comments Rourke made on the red carpet last night about beating up Jericho. Jericho said Rourke is out of his mind because there is a difference between wrestling in a movie and wrestling him. Jericho said the last thing Flair or Rourke would want to do is offend him. He then walked to the back. Weird inclusion of Flair’s name here....does he come to ringside with Rourke against Jericho at WM? And remember what they did last year with Floyd Merriweather, assuming they could position him as a face, but since he was going against a wrestler, they booed him. Could that happen again with Rourke? And why was it Jericho he mentioned (in storyline terms)?

-JBL was stewing backstage as HBK came up to him and explained why he did what he did last night and said he did everything possible to help JBL. JBL said HBK “assumed” last night, just like he “assumed” someone was watching his money. JBL said he’d fire Michaels now, but he can still use him. He said he wanted HBK to get the job done against Cena tonight.

[Commercial Break]

-A Wrestlemania highlight package aired and it showed clips specifically of the first Wrestlemania. AC/DC’s “Shoot to Thrill” played in the background to end it.

(3) Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena- Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
The two traded right hands to start the match. Cena went for a face-buster, but HBK shoved him off. Slap by HBK, right hand by Cena. Cena got Michaels up for the Throwback, but Michaels wriggled out and to ringside. Michaels got up to the apron and stared at Cena as the show went to break.

[Commercial Break]

Michaels kicked out of a Cena pin attempt, then HBK briefly locked in a figure-four. Didn’t take long for Cena to reverse it and break out. Reverse chin-lock by the champ. High back body-drop followed. Hard Irish whip into the buckle by Cena. Michaels made his comeback with all of his signature moves, starting with the flying forearm. HBK got on the apron and saw that Cena was coming after him and stopped him. Michaels escaped the STF and Cena hit him with a succession of shoulderblocks. Cena then went for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Shawn grabbed his arm during the “You can’t see me” and Michaels locked in the crossface. “Cena” chants from the crowd. Cena locked in the STF. Wait a minute....Cena is the champ and this is a qualifying match....is it only a qualifying match for HBK, or if Cena loses here is the title up for grabs in the Chamber since he lost the qualifying match? Or does the Chamber match then become not for a title? I think I know the answer, but they could’ve explained it better. STF was locked in but Shawn made the ropes. Cena got him up for the Throwback, but Michaels rolled Cena up for two. HBK did his flip sell in the corner, but clotheslined Cena. Cena was taken down again and Michaels slowly went to the top as JBL argued with him about needing to Superkick him. Michaels said he was doing things his way. JBL got up on the apron and Cena pushed JBL into Michaels, who fell off the top rope. Shouldn’t that be a DQ now? Cena hit the Throwback and it’s over.

Winner: Cena, at 13:10. Usual solid match from these two.

JBL stood over a fallen Michaels in the ring, looking quite perturbed. Michaels groaned on his back from the pain.

-Another clip of Orton beating up McMahon from last week. They’re really hitting that home with everyone. Michael Cole then talked about what happened with Orton earlier in the night. A clip aired of that too. A long one at that.

-Todd Grisham was in Stephanie’s office and he asked what action will be taken. Steph said action WILL be taken, but she’ll do it publicly and to his face.

[Commercial Break]

(4) Melina & Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix & Jillian Hall
This is a re-match from the match that never started a few weeks ago. Santino Marella joined the announcers for guest commentary. Beth and Melina squared off first. Variation of a seated senton on Beth. Beth missed a charge, then tagged Jillian, who got arm-dragged down. Kelly came in and did her springboard flip arm-drag. Santino was not impressed. Kelly got sent to ringside and Santino had no comment when asked if he thought Kelly was beautiful. Beth came in and took her frustration out on Kelly squared. Jillian distracted the referee and Rosa pulled Melina’s leg out from under her on the apron. Beth then hit the Glam Slam for three.

Winners: Beth & Jillian, at 2:36. The announcers looked completely stupid for not knowing who pulled Melina off the apron. Match was pretty decent.

-Another Wrestlemania commercial aired, the one where Wrestlemania went Hollywood and they did those funny commercials. They also took a look at some matches from that PPV with a lot of time spent on the MITB Ladder Match.

[Commercial Break]

(5) Rey Mysterio vs. William Regal- Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
Mysterio went to the top early with his seated senton. Regal pancaked Rey on a head-scissor attempt by Mysterio. Hard chop to the chest by Regal. Chicken wing-like hold applied by Regal. “Regal Sucks” chant from the crowd, which has been 10X more vocal than last night’s. Regal wheel-barrowed Rey over his head for three two-counts. Couple hard shots by Regal in the corner on Rey. Rey fought back with right hands but Regal caught him with a boot to the gut. Rey arm-dragged Regal, but William got an overhead throw for two. Rey monkey-flipped Regal into the ropes, then Rey hit the 619 and the bodysplash off the top for three.

Winner: Rey, at 3:43.. Good match as usual, they just tease us and don’t even give us four minutes.

[Commercial Break]

-Rosa was backstage with Santino, asking forgiveness for what she did earlier today. She said she just had to do something. She turned around to see Beth Phoenix, looking quite unhappy. Then she sort-of smiled and said “We can keep her.”

-Cole and Lawler threw it to the World Television Premiere of the trailer for “12 Rounds.”

-Another qualifying match is next: CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho.

[Commercial Break]

(6) CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho- Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
Jericho pulled Punk’s leg off the middle rope, sending Punk hard to the canvas. Jericho laid in some kicks then. Jericho locked in a rear chin-lock and demanded the referee “ask him.” Flying leg kick by Punk on Jericho, then CM hit a running knee in the corner followed up by a bulldog. Springboard flying clothesline by Punk. Hurricanrana off the top by the I.C. champion, but Y2J kicked out. He got Jericho up for the GTS, but Jericho slid through and rolled Punk up for two. After a few roll-ups, Punk reversed a Walls of Jericho. Jacknife cover into a bridge, followed by a Codebreaker that barely caught Punk.

Winner: Jericho, at 3:26. See my comments for the previous match.

-They AGAIN showed Orton beating up McMahon from last week. I’m running out of different ways to write this they’re showing it so much. Split-screen showed Stephanie heading to the ring and Orton standing around waiting to be called to the principal’s office.

[Commercial Break]

-Lillian Garcia introduced Stephanie McMahon, who came to the ring. She got right to business and said Randy Orton wasn’t off the hook for winning the Rumble, threatening lawsuits or apologizing. She called Orton down and he once again came out with his entourage. Orton asked Stephanie if she really wants to go through with this. He said if she fired him, she’d be subjecting herself to a nightmare. He said the star power in the Raw locker room would be crippled. The lawyer then got on the mic(!) and reitereated Orton’s condition. He said if she thinks she’s going to make Orton get down on his knees like her employee (technically, independent contractor) last week, she’s wrong. Orton said not only would he sue, but he would put an injunction in to cancel Wrestlemania this year. This is comical. He’s like Scrooge. He ended by saying, “now what are you going to do about it?” The entire locker room then emptied out onto the stage. Orton asked what they were all looking at and asked if they thought he cared about whether they have a Wrestlemania. He said if he was fired, he’d take each and every one of them down with him. Orton said that’s exactly what he’s gonna do. He then begged Stephanie to fire him. Reminded me of Flair’s “fire me! I’m already fired!” promo in WCW. Orton got really intense and told Steph to say the words Vince was going to say before he kicked him in the skull. She said firing him would be too easy. She said there are bigger plans in the work. Then Shane McMahon’s music hit. Shane-O walked out, looking quite pissed and actually, ready to fight. He came to the ring and stared at Orton, slowly taking steps toward him. Orton backed away as Dibiase and Rhodes stepped up. Then Shane speared Orton. Rhodes and Dibiase grabbed him off, but Shane fought them off and went after Randy again. Meanwhile, the entire locker room was looking on by the way. Shane broke free again and went after Randy. Rhodes held Shane down, but Shane came back and peppered Rand with rights. They didn’t look particularly impressive. Dibiase helped Orton out of the ring while Shane finished fighting off Cody. Shane followed Dibiase and Orton up the ropes and attacked once again. This time, the wrestlers on the ramp got involved to keep all parties separated. Shane fought off Haas and Kingston and demanded to know “where is he?” Not a great way to end the show.

So, really, when they were coming up with Orton's condition, did anyone go "IED, now why does that sound so familiar?".

better follow-up line?
1) if only they could've come up with something for HGH
2) so, did Benoit have IED?

That main event angle...for all you worried about Matt/Jeff being the worst possible thing, I submit to you that it must be better than that and what follows. I thought Stephanie playing Tough was going to be the worst of it; I know nothing. Wish Shane learned something from all that MMA, like how to throw a punch. When they're shooting behind you as you hit someone, that's a sign you're bad.

Access Hollywood (which MSNBC took the story from here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28848680/) totally edited Rourke's comments. As we saw in the footage, Rourke was namedropping Ric Flair left and right, and so was Jericho. The website edited Rourke's comments to only reflect Roddy Piper because Piper is more mainstream famous. I like the implication that Flair will be in Rourke's corner against Jericho.

Meanwhile, CM Punk cannot beat Chris Jericho. He's simply incapable. Of course, when Cena, Rey, and Kofi, three babyfaces, were all set to advance into the Elimination Chamber, it was axiomatic heel Chris Jericho would go over Punk and enter the Chamber.

Cole brought up Jericho has been in six Elimination Chambers so "he has the edge." Sure, that's one way to look at it. He's never won one so no one knows more about losing in that Chamber than Jericho.

I'm looking forward to Shane vs. Orton at No Way Out, although Shane McMahon being so tough that he can overpower three pro wrestlers single handedly is a tough pill to swallow.

Still, I'm standing by my CAHOOTS! theory last week. Stephanie turns on Shane at No Way Out and reveals herself as Legacy's benefactor all along. Orton takes out Shane, eliminating both male McMahons, leaving Stephanie for the first time completely in charge.

Beat him to advance to the finals of the King of the Ring tournament! But I think he's lost five of six to him clean.

edit: except for that one they had with Batista as ref. doesn't count, OBVIOUSLY

I thought they could have gotten really creative and had Orton claim he was molested backstage as a child and that he hit Vince because Vince was in charge when he was being abused. And the 'You Can't Read' line really through off Orton.
Thing from the final segment that made no sense: If the entire roster is out because they are pissed at Orton, wouldn't a few of them have hit the ring to hold off Rhodes and DiBiase to make it a 1-on-1 fight, or at the very least acted as lumberjacks on the ramp to delay Orton's escape. Also, threatening to have Rhodes and DiBiase quit only works on scaring crickets, not fans.
Also, last time they were seen on the air, weren't the McMahon children not getting along?
Kane needs a complete makeover at this point.
Hopefully Jericho realizes that World Championships don't follow wrestlers who face actors/athletes from other sports in non-battle royales at Mania.

Quite odd that Shane comes to Steph's aid after their previous encounter where Shane said he'd love watching her run the show into the ground. Wouldn't this be where he would tell Steph "see what you've done"?

Also, since when does the WWE champ have to qualify for the elimination chamber? As all qualification matches WWE puts on seems to be non-title, wouldn't it have been smarter for Cena to lose tonight so he -- and his title -- weren't part of the Elimination Chamber?

And finally, did I hear correctly that the announcers said that "for the first time" both titles would be on the line in Elimination Chamber matches? Huh?

You could make the argument that Shane was attacking Orton for injuring his father, not coming to Steph's aid.

Cole mentioned that Cena winning would mean he wouldn't have to face JBL in the Elimination Chamber, which I figure means that Michaels winning simply would get JBL in there with Cena, not in place of Cena. Cena's there no matter what, but he had a chance to prevent a tough opponent from being in there with him.

This would be the first time there were two Chamber matches for world titles on the same card. The two Chamber matches last year were #1 contender matches.

Heck, that's what I thought was going to happen tonight as soon as Shane stepped into the ring with all three members of Legacy. I thought for sure they would eventually get the upper hand and Randy would punt him in the head, and it would be revealed that Steph purposely fed Shane to the Legacy so she could ensure that she had Raw all to herself. I was so sure that was going to happen that I only realized it wasn't going to happen when the Legacy all bailed out of the ring and started heading up the ramp.

So "Stone Cold" Shane surprised me. It would have really helped if Shane had a more convincing punch.

Legacy sold so much for Shane because they had to make it look good, cause it's SHANE that's behind everything (see: Vince taking the People's Elbow right before he revealed he was in cahoots with Rock all along). Then Shane can show the footage and say "see, I wasn't even punching him!"

Seriously, though, up until Steph said "firing you would be too easy..." that last segment was awesome. It was a clever angle to play - WM being canceled because of lawsuits.

It seemed the crowd reaction died very suddenly when Shane was raining down such jell-o like punches on Orton. It looked like he was trying too hard to make it look like a flurry of punches, and maybe should of did the old Hogan telegraph punches. Orton had a hard time keeping up and selling them.

Poor Jericho. While the promo work leading to that possible match at WM will be awesome (also since Flair may show up for a promo or two), it is an utter waste of Jericho to have him compete with a non-wrestler (non-athelete at that) on the biggest show of the year.

Terrible ending to the show, no doubt. It would've made a lot more sense for Shane to temporarily get the better of all three before eventually being RKOed, upon which the roster rushes the ring and Legacy leaves through the crowd. Instead, you get Shane throwing his Alexander Semin punches and somehow being able to single-handedly take out the three guys who won the Royal Rumble the previous night. It also doesn't help that Steph is pretty much the least-sympathetic face ever.

I've got to think that Jericho vs. Rourke will be made into a tag match of some sorts....Rourke/HHH vs. Jericho and, I dunno, Big Show? Regal? MVP? As good as Jericho is, I'm not sure he can carry a 53-year-old first-time wrestler to a credible match. In a tag match, at least someone like Triple H could do most of the work and we'd still get our 'Jericho gets beat by the Ram Jam' ending.

I'm going to hell for saying this, but....the 12 Rounds trailer actually looked kinda interesting.

Skinner: Well, I was wrong. The lizards are a godsend.
Lisa: But isn't that a bit short-sighted? What happens when we're overrun by lizards?
Skinner: No problem. We simply release wave after wave of Chinese needle snakes. They'll wipe out the lizards.
Lisa: But aren't the snakes even worse?
Skinner: Yes, but we're prepared for that. We've lined up a fabulous type of gorilla that thrives on snake meat.
Lisa: But then we're stuck with gorillas!
Skinner: No, that's the beautiful part. When wintertime rolls around, the gorillas simply freeze to death!
