TONIGHT: One night after Armageddon, this is the show with the big title that DIDNT change hands. CM Punk & Kofi Kingston get a re-match against Miz & Morrison for the tag straps. Also, Kelly Kelly & Melina face Jillian & Beth Phoenix. That is all thats been announced thus far, but you can expect to see the next chapter of the JBL/HBK situation as well as John Cena as your champion.

-WWE Open.

-Raw Open

-Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler introd the show from Pittsburgh and led off by talking about Jeff Hardys title win last night at Armageddon, as well as finding out that HBK is broke. His relationship with JBL will be probed later tonight, and The Miz & Morrison will put their newly won tag titles on the line tonight against Punk & Kingston.

(1) Kelly Kelly & Melina vs. Jillian Hall & Beth Phoenix
On their way to the ring, Beth and Santino ran into the Beth Phoenix fan plant at ringside that weve been seeing for a few weeks. She wanted a picture with Beth, but Santino tried to pose with her first. In the end, he took the pic of the girl with Beth, then tossed the camera back to her. What is it with women wrestlers being introduced as crazed fans?

Flying headscissors by Kelly on Jillian, but Beth pulled Kellys hair from the outside to take her down. Knees to the gut by Jillian. Kelly flipped out of a slam attempt and tried to tag Melina, to no avail. Kelly rolled up Jillian for a surprise three.

Winners: Kelly & Melina, at 1:40. That ending was out of nowhere.

As Beth and Jillian beat down Kelly, Kane came out to his music and fire. He chased the girls off and stood over Kelly. She backed slowly into the corner as Kane followed her. He bent down and got right in her face, then offered her a hand. Crowd popped at that. Kelly rolled out of the ring instead, and Kane went right after her as she backed up the ramp. He eventually followed her backstage. Weird segment.

[Commercial Break]

-They showed what just happened, with Kelly rebuffing Kanes (sort-of) advances.

-During the break, Kelly was trying to avoid Kane in the hallway and she ran into Jamie Noble, who was talking to D-Lo Brown. Kane followed past and pushed Noble against the wall. Kelly cowered in a corner and Kane told her they need to talk.

(2) Rey Mysterio vs. Deuce
Cody Rhodes and Manu were at ringside to watch the match. Deuce was already in the ring and he grabbed the mic from Lilian after he was announced. He said hed like to be known by his real name, Sim Snuka, as his father is Hall-of-Famer Jimmy Snuka.

(2) Rey Mysterio vs. Sim Snuka
Snuka used his power early on to ground Mysterio. Hard whip into the buckle by Snuka. All offense by Snuka, until he missed a knee-drop. Headscissor take-over (Kellys was better) by Rey. Snuka hit a jumping knee to the face of Rey for a near-fall. It was quite impressive. Mysterio tried a hurricanrana but Snuka caught him. Rey eventually set up for a 619, but Snuka moved. He went to the outside and Rey hit a seated senton on him. Cody Rhodes shoved Rey, so Rey punched him and Manu got involved to draw a DQ.

Winner: Mysterio, by DQ, at 3:31.

Rey knew the numbers were not in his favor and started to head to the back while Cody and Manu were in the ring. From behind, Mike Knox attacked and hit the Knox Out on Rey.

[Commercial Break]

-The DX commercial from Smackdown aired. They plugged DX shock t-shirts and sweatshirts. Also, they made fun of each other while introducing their character bears.

-Cole and Lawler talked about Michaels financial troubles and how hes working for JBL now. They plugged exclusive Armageddon footage of HBKs interview.

-Kane, in a dark room, made Kelly sit down. Kane accused Kelly of trying to tell him something last week when she told him love is a wonderful thing. She said they were just presenting an award. Kane asked her if she felt anything, a connection between them. He then accused her of leading him on. He said if she felt nothing for him, she could leave now. She got up to leave, but he slammed the door shut and said I knew you felt something. She started whimpering as Kane stared at her.

-Todd Grisham was backstage with Randy Orton, who apparently issued a challenge to Batista earlier. Orton said Batista wouldnt accept because hes a coward. Batista showed up and accepted the challenge. He slapped Batista and ran. Batista went after him and Orton came out into the arena. Batista followed him out, but was attacked by Rhodes and Manu. They beat him down until John Cena came out to save Batista. He attacked the youngsters, but Orton made it up the ramp unscathed. Cena and Orton stared at each other as Batista made it to his feet.

[Commercial Break]

-Batista thanked Cena for his help backstage. Cena said they had a beef with Rhodes & Manu & Orton from a few weeks back. Batista brought up Jericho when Just Joe Todd Grisham came up and told them Steph made a 2-on-3 handicap match for later tonight of Batista & Cena vs. Orton, Rhodes & Manu.

-Hacksaw Jim Duggan was in the ring for a match. Chris Jerichos music hit....Jericho, really? Jericho came out in a suit, doesnt look like hes ready to wrestle. Jericho got the mic and said he refused to wrestle tonight. He said he is the 2008 Superstar of the Year and he has carried this show for the past year. He said it was a slap in the face to compete against someone like Duggan. Love him or hate him, Duggan can make that poor me face like no one else. He said he refuses to perform against bottom-of-the-barrel talent like Duggan. He said he wont step in the ring unless its against a performer of his caliber. Jericho then left the ring as fans tried to cheer Hacksaw up by chanting USA, USA!

-Kane was continuing his interrogation of Kelly, telling her she wants to get to know him better. She said no, she doesnt. Kane said there must be another man in her life then, and demanded to know who it was.

[Commercial Break]

-Apparently, during the break, she told Kane who it was and said he had to go. She asked for Kane not to hurt him. Kane laughed and said like she said, love IS a wonderful thing. Wheres he gonna find Balls Mahoney?

-Lilian introduced William Regal. He sat in his throne on the ramp as Layla held his title.

(3) CM Punk & Kofi Kingston vs. John Morrison & The Miz- World Tag-Team Title Match
Miz and Kofi started the match off. Jumping back elbow by Kingston got two. Punk came in briefly and did some double-teaming of Miz with Kofi. Miz taunted Punk so CM ran after him. Morrison tried to intervene illegally to no avail, and Miz got tossed to the outside. Kofi back-dropped Punk onto the champs at ringside.

[Commercial Break]

Kofi got a jawbreaker out of a rest-hold and was able to tag Punk. Morrison tagged Miz as well, but Punk got the best of him. Roll-up for two by Punk. Punk kicked both Miz and Morrison, but on the springboard attempt, Miz slammed him to the mat. Morrison and Miz looked like they were setting up for the Doomsday Device, but Punk got on the top rope off Morrisons shoulders and kicked him away, then suplexed Miz off the top. Morrison and Kofi both tagged in and Kofi hit a cross-body from the top as well as a dropkick. Some sort of spinning suplex/neck-breaker by Kofi got two. Miz interfered and Punk ended up propelling himself onto Miz on the outside. Crowd really getting into it. Another roll-up by Kofi for two. He missed a cross-body and Morrison connected with the kick to the face off the second rope. Punk broke up the pin, then Miz threw him to the outside. Kofi got rid of Miz but walked into a Moonlight Drive from Morrison.

Winners: Miz & Morrison, at 11:27. Very good match.

Kane walked out after the match and briefly stared at Regal. All four participants were in the ring still, so it could be any of them. He grabbed Miz and chokeslammed him, also kicking away Morrison. Punk and Kofi got out of the ring and Kane Tombstoned Miz good. The lights went out, then back on again for no reason. Kane then left the ring. Boy, Kelly really gets around.

-Tonight, a 2-on-3 Handicap match as Cena & Batista face The Legacy. But next, footage from last night of why Michaels decided to go to work for JBL.

[Commercial Break]

-Members of the Pittsburgh Steelers were in the crowd, and they started play-fighting with each other.

-John Bradshaw Layfield made his entrance. He told the fans to watch the video of comments made last night by Shawn Michaels. The entire promo aired. JBL just looked around afterward.

-Backstage, Mickie and Candice tried to console Kelly as she put her jacket on and looked like she was going to leave. The girls asked about Miz and wondered why she didnt tell them. The Miz? Are you serious? Kelly asked as she hurried out of the room. Candice and Mickie looked puzzled and followed after her. Hmm.....

[Commercial Break]

(4) Dolph Ziggler vs. Santa Claas
Ziggler was already in the ring, then took the mic and introduced himself to everyone in Pittsburgh and at home. You mean they couldnt bring Mahoney and Dibiase back together for Xanta Claus? Wow, two Balls references in one Raw report....scary. Claas handed out gifts to children at ringside. Dolph tried to introduce himself but Santa handed him a gift. Dolph didnt open it but ordered the ref to ring the bell.

Loud, Santa! chants. Dolph pounded away and yelled that he was Dolph Ziggler. Santa turned things around and said Im Santa Claas! Pretty funny. Ziggler hit a dropkick and some elbowdrops on Santa. Ziggler put the boots to Claas, then choked him. Lets go Santa chants. Chinlock by Dolph as he really wrenched it in. Claas came back with some punches and a clothesline in the corner. Dolph dodged another corner charge and hit some strange move that looked like Shelton Benjamins Paydirt to win.

Winner: Ziggler, at 3:43.

For some more heel heat, Ziggler ripped the Santa costume off Haas.

-We got a BEL:C behind-the-scenes look with comments from stars of the movie.

-Cole and Lawler plugged WWE.com by discussing Jeff Hardys win last night. They also plugged Smackdown this Friday.

-Next up: Batista & Cena against Orton & Rhodes & Manu.

[Commercial Break]

-A sullen Jim Duggan was backstage, and Cryme Tyme approached him. They simply said Its time and took him somewhere.

-Stephanie McMahon confronted Jericho in her office and said she didnt like the stunt he pulled earlier. She told him when she says dance, he dances. Jericho said Batistas 30-day re-match clause has expired and he shouldnt be able to face the champion. She explained that all champions will be in action in four matches next week, then the winners of those matches will be in a fatal four-way the week after, and then the winner of that will face John Cena at Royal Rumble. Yikes. She told him never to pull a stunt like that again.

-Manu and Cody Rhodes discussed how their plan was ruined earlier tonight. Randy Orton walked up and said last night and tonight have been an embarrassment. He said if they cant be 100% successful in everything they do, then the group of theirs is over.

-Batista came out for the main event tag match, which is next.

[Commercial Break]

(5) Batista & John Cena vs. Randy Orton & Cody Rhodes & Manu
Manu and Batista faced off, a sort-of rematch from a few weeks ago. Batista brought him to the face corner and tagged Cena in and he laid some punches in to the mid-section of Manu. Soon after, Rhodes tagged in and grabbed a side-headlock. Cena had one of his own for Cody after sending Rhodes off the ropes. Suplex by Cena for two. Batista came in and landed a shoulderblock then a British Bulldog-like suplex. Hard whip into the buckle by Cena, then a face-buster. Cena looks really energized here. Another tag by the faces. Rhodes finally fought back and tagged Orton. But Batista greeted him with a clothesline. Orton was able to get Batista from behind and take him to the ground where he stomped a proverbial mud-hole in him. Orton tagged Manu in as the show went to break.

[Commercial Break]

Out of break, Orton was choking Batista with his (Ortons) boot in the corner. Batista tried to fight out of the heel corner but the newly tagged-in Manu went to work on him. Frequent tags now by the heels. Crowd tried to get behind Batista as The Animal back-suplexed Orton. Cena and Manu both tagged in. He landed a few of his pet moves on the Samoan. Five-Knuckle Shuffle was hit as Orton fumed on the apron. He got Manu up for the FU but Orton distracted the ref and Rhodes dropkicked Cena in the back, causing Manu to land on Cenas neck. Rhodes tagged in and went right for the neck. Big European uppercut from Orton with Cena draped over the apron. DDT by Orton with Cenas feet on the middle ropes. Batista broke up the subsequent pin attempt. Big splash in the corner by Manu, then a diving headbutt. Cena missed a corner charge and Rhodes broke out a moonsault off the top rope. Side Russian leg-sweep by Rhodes. Inside cradle by Cena got two. Rhodes missed a knee-drop with his kneepad taken down and Batista was able to tag in . He plowed through Rhodes, Manu and Orton. Batista got Rhodes up for the Batista Bomb but Orton threw Manu into Batista. Then Orton hit the RKO and directed traffic by having the two youngsters beat up Cena at ringside. Orton set up for a big kick and shoved referee Mike Chioda, who called for the bell. After the kick, Cena quickly got into the ring and squared off with The Legacy, who backed down.

Winners: Cena & Batista by DQ, at 18:08. Well done, entertaining match. Good story told here as well. Solid stuff.

They showed replays of the kick, which didnt look good initially, but it connected solidly on replay. Referees and the WWE trainer were out to check on Batista as the show ended.

Line-of-the-night for me, during the Ziggler/Claas match:

Cole: He deserves coal after that.
Lawler: No one deserves Michael Cole for Christmas.

Bonus points to the ref for telling Ziggler "Come on, don't do this to Santa" during the post-match beatdown.

Gotta wonder where things are going with the former Deuce. They had Cody and Manu out there for a reason, making me think Sim Snuka's getting added to that stable at some point. Speaking of said stable, where is Dibiase? Aren't those 30 days up yet?

Pretty good show, on top of that, though that whole thing with Kane and Kelly seemed to drag.

What's wrong with Santino? They don't have digital cameras in Italy. The bad camera angle is sure to show up on an upcoming Botchamania on Youtube.

Punk yelled "I'm Flying!" while doing a plancha to Miz towards the end of the match. I'm guessing he's making it a regular thing. Was pretty funny to hear it. Great match between those 4.

I am vaguely intrigued by the Kelly Kelly/Kane storyline. Vaguely. The last creepy mystery they did with Kane lead to the underwhelming Mysterio feud.

He's not suspended, he's filming The Marine 2: The Marine.

Kelly's secret love is BALLS MAHONEY

Oh man you guys Tomko was there and he beat Paul Burchill, laying the groundwork for a Paul/Katie vs. Tomko/Trish feud.

I'm far more intrigued by the inexplicable Cryme Tyme/Hacksaw segment. What could that possibly been about?

So D'Lo sees Kelly Kelly running from Kane, sees Kane slightly shove Jamie Noble, and goes to help...Jamie Noble. I guess he didn't want his coffee to go cold.

What exactly was the DQ for in the main event?

Ref warned him not to kick Batista, so he shoved the ref. The shove got the DQ.

That main event was great. Every Raw should end with Batista getting kicked in the head.

Re-watching Raw on tape as my roommate just got home from work, the funniest thing I missed on the first viewing was when Ziggler was ripping off Santa's suit, ref Marty Elias was trying to stop him and he yelled, "Come on Dolph, don't do this to Santa!"

What was the point of doing the title change on the house show when it could just as easily have been done on this show?

Yep. That works for me too.

What was up with Kane killing The Miz? Is he going to go around tombstoning random people until he finds the right one? And how many times has Kane been promised love by some diva utterly beyond his reach? You'd think he'd learn from past mistakes.

Kelly is some kind of CRIMINAL MASTERMIND, finally getting back at Miz for what he put her through when he owned Extreme Expose's contracts right up until they suddenly didn't exist any more because Brooke disappeared from ECW and nobody noticed. I find it hard to believe she can even remember all that - because obviously I certainly can't!

On the other hand, too bad she sucks at hiding.

So did they change the name of this show to "HD" when I wasn't looking?

Given that aside from the flying knee, Sim Snuka didn't look much improved in the ring, it might be a more interesting twist if Rhodes/Manu were scouting Rey Mysterio for their second-generation faction. Also...it really makes Lawler and Cole look dumb when they were acting all, "Whoa, I guess it must be true" after Deuce revealed himself as Snuka's son. I mean, come on, in the storyline world, it would've been a big deal if Snuka's son was also a wrestler.

However, logic didn't totally take a holiday. I liked Lawler mentioning that the DX merchandise spots were taped a few weeks earlier, before Shawn's money problems kicked in.

I think they were trying to imply that he just didn't have any savings left, nothing to use for his retirement or his children's future. Like, he's fine for now, but what's he going to do when he can't wrestle any more.

Exactly. I groaned at another "Kane is stalking/is in lust with/wants to marry and/or impregnate another Diva" storyline, but Kelly Kelly's actions took it to another level. K2 fingering the Miz as her secret lover so Kane would destroy him is where I warmed up to the angle.

Kelly is the repository of 2007's ECW angles. She remembers everything most of us forgot/never saw/didn't care enough to remember even if we did see it.

Since Balls ain't her secret lover by virtue of being future endeavored, and she hates Miz, it's either CM Punk (not likely, he has Regal to deal with), Mike Knox (probably even less likely, although Kane vs. Knox would essentially be Kane vs. Snitsky II), or my guess...

Kofi Kingston. K2 <3 K2. Kane <3 K2 and thus must send K2 to Hell.

It's the first angle that can be easily explained via txt. lol.

Cole or Lawler said he was broke. I still don't buy it, even if both guys have done their best with the material. It just seems like they said, "Well, we have to do something with Shawn and JBL". Now if Shawn really was struggling, fine, but it's a bit of an insult to those who truly have lost everything this year knowing this guy more than likely has 10 million in the bank.

The show was good overall, though. The tag title match and main event were both very good, long matches, and it's rare we get that on free TV.

Such a fun show.

Sim should make the flapjack/running knee into a full-time finisher because it's very nice.

Diggler looks equally like Randy Orton and Jeff Jarrett, and he wrestles like Mr. Perfect. We must embrace him.

That reverse Russian legsweep bomb by Kofi was brilliant.

I wondered why TAFKA Deuce warranted a Raw outing I think Sim is only Jimmy's son by adoption rather than blood. I'm not entirely sure how it works out.

Jim Duggan is brought out of storyline mothballs too !

Don't say Kane's Kelly Kelly fantasy is just another rehash of the Lita storyline.

Maybe they will use the camera girl to be an obsessed of Beth Phoenix, ala Trish / Mickie James.

I'd thought to myself CM Punk was the guy she liked and saying Miz, who of course she has had dealings with in the past was just a way diverting Kane from him or whoever.

I read it more as that someone told Vince that "The Wrestler" was getting good reviews. Once they established for him that this wasn't the 70's flick with Verne Gagne he got a 2 minute summary of the movie. At that point, since nothing can happen with wrestling not involving Vince he decided to do his own take on it, only with characters in a situation no one can believe unless you assume HBK's advisors had him dump all his money in auto stocks over the last few months.

Oh well, while the movie will have to content itself with Golden Globe and likely Oscar nominations, Vince has the prestigious CableFax award.
