TONIGHT: Raw is back in the states, and as advertised last week, CM Punk will once again challenge Randy Orton. Also, in what promises to be a unique segment if nothing else, Raw will begin with Stephanie McMahon giving the superstars a chance to have their concerns about the show heard, as there are questions swirling with Mike Adamle out as GM. It’s “Stephanie McMahon’s Raw Superstar Forum” and it’ll kick off the show. It’s the go-home show for Survivor Series, so we’ll get some hype for those matches too. One such example: The Miz & John Morrison face Rey Mysterio & Shawn Michaels.

-WWE Open.

-Raw Open.

-Jerry Lawler opened the show as Raw Superstars stood in the ring for the Superstar Forum, while there was a small stage in the ring as well. Michael Cole, in the ring, welcomed Stephanie McMahon, who came out and stood at a podium on the ramp. Randy Orton was first to accept the challenge, getting the mic and taking the stage. He wanted to know why the title match on Sunday goes to John Cena. He said he’s more talented and deserving, then wanted to know what was so special about Cena. Steph said that was Shane’s decision, not hers. She then discussed Cena’s credentials and said that was why Cena would challenge for the title. Orton declared next for a title shot. Cody Rhodes went next. He said Orton wasn’t punished for kicking Ted Dibiase in the head, but instead, he was named captain for a Survivor Series team and worse, Cody himself is on the team. Cody wanted to know why Orton wasn’t suspended. Steph said they are grown men and responsible for their actions (doesn’t really answer the question). She said he kicked Punk in the head too and Orton will fight Punk tonight and in order to ensure a winner, there will 30 lumberjacks.

Santino Marella interrupted the Cody/Orton stare-down. Santino introduced rapper Akon in the crowd and said he’d ask his question in the form of a rap. Beth gave him a hat to wear backward and a beat-box came over the PA and Santino rapped that he wanted a re-match. Marella said Regal isn’t in a restaurant.....but he got served! Steph said Santino got not one, but two re-matches overseas last week and won’t be getting anymore. Marella made a joke about “Akorn” in the crowd as Steph asked if anyone else had anything to say. JBL stepped up to the podium. He asked where her father was. He said no one seems to know his whereabouts, but he needs to talk to him about Shawn Michaels. Steph said Vince is out of the picture- she and Shane are running the show. Shawn Michaels interrupted and wondered what would happen if he got payback on JBL tonight instead of next Sunday. Steph said he’d have to be patient. Michaels said everyone is responsible for their own actions, so he apologized for this: he then jumped on JBL and attacked as the ring cleared of the superstars. Hey, Dolph Ziggler is back! HBK celebrated as JBL fled.

[Commercial Break]

(1) Kelly Kelly vs. Victoria
The third traditional Survivor Series match was announced, as it’ll be five Raw divas vs. five Smackdown divas. Headscissor take-down by Kelly, then a dropkick. Double hand-stand into the corner by Kelly. Clothesline by Victoria, then a back-breaker. The Rack-naphobia (ask Lawler) was hit by Victoria, another back-breaker from a Torture Rack position, got two. Kelly with a sloppy roll-up for three.

Winner: Kelly at 1:31. Cole called it an upset. Why- when was the last time Victoria beat anyone?

Victoria attacked Kelly after the match, giving her the Widow’s Peak. Mickie James, Candice Michelle and Jillian Hall made the save. Beth Phoenix came from behind as Victoria was going up the ramp and attacked. She sent Vicotira in the ring for a Raw Divas attack, including Beth’s chicken-wing finisher. Mickie looked at Beth suspiciously, but the Divas, heel and face, seemed to be on the same page.

-Cole and Lawler previewed the other traditional Survivor Series matches.

-Batista was walking backstage....he’s taking on Manu next.

[Commercial Break]

(2) Batista vs. Manu
They played some clips of the Wild Samoans as Manu came out, just for some background on his family. Cole called this Manu’s debut. After all this time? I guess maybe singles debut. As the bell rang, Randy Orton walked onto the ramp to get a better view of the match.

A shoulderblock by Batista went nowhere, and Manu landed a thrust chop to the throat. Batista was going for a Batista Bomb, but Manu countered with (what else?) a Samoan drop. Manu applied the dreaded nerve hold on Batista. Big splash in the corner by Manu for two. Batista came back with a big boot, then a hard clothesline. He was selling the left shoulder. Manu back-dropped out of a Batista Bomb, but ran into a spear. Batista Bomb connected for three.

Winner: Batista, at 4:08. Manu is fine, he just needs a different look. He doesn’t fit in with the other members of Team Priceless and looks too much like Umaga.

Rhodes climbed the stairs to the apron as Batista waited for him in the ring. Cody then dropped down to ringside as Orton looked agitated. Batista got the mic and addressed Orton saying he’s been waiting three years to whoop his ass. Batista said Orton needs to forget about Cena and getting in line for a title shot; he needs to focus on him this Sunday.

-Tonight, JBL and Kane face Cryme Tyme. Also, Miz & Morrison take on HBK and Rey Mysterio.

[Commercial Break]

-Stephanie McMahon came out onto the stage and introduced WWE Hall-Of-Famer Chief Jay Strongbow. That’s a classy gesture. They should do this more often. Crowd gave him some props as he came out and waved to them.

-Cole and Lawler went over the rest of the Survivor Series card.

-Backstage, Orton approached Rhodes and chided him for backing down against Batista. Orton reminds me a bit of House. Orton said there’s a reason he’s captain for their team. He then plugged his match against Punk and said Rhodes will see someone back up what they say tonight. Rhodes told Orton to keep talking because right now, its what he’s best at.

-Todd Grisham was out on the stage. He introduced one of the most exciting young superstars to come to WWE in a long time. We then got a video package on Evan Bourne, including his injury. Grisham said Bourne suffered an injury, but Bourne is here tonight to update us on his condition. He came out with his foot in a boot and on crutches. Bourne said he’s still hurting, but when he returns to the ring, he’ll pick up right where he left off. Mike Knox walked out and had a stare-down with Bourne. He then walked away without saying anything. And that was the end of the segment.

-Rey Mysterio and HBK met up backstage, then started walking. The Raw theme hit and HBK stopped and said to stop the music. HBK said he’s made this walk with a lot of people- Marty Jannetty, Triple H, Hulk Hogan (though HBK claimed he wasn’t a celebrity). HBK said he’s never made that walk with Rey though and was quite nervous. Rey advised him on how to walk. HBK started having a good time. They passed by Dolph Ziggler, and HBK introduced himself and shook hands saying, “Dolph Ziggler! Hey, you’re Dolph Ziggler! I’m Shawn Michaels, and this is Rey Mysterio! We have a tag match next!” They continued walking. That was funny, but a bit odd.

[Commercial Break]

-Lawler plugged AC/DC’s CD and “Spoilin’ For A Fight,” the official Survivor Series theme song.

-They plugged Punk vs. Orton in a Lumberjack match later tonight.

(3) John Morrison & The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio & Shawn Michaels
Michaels started off but quickly tagged out for some double-teaming on Morrison. Miz tripped Rey up on a 619 try, but HBK made Miz pay, then hit a crossbody over the top onto Miz. On the other side, Mysterio went out of the ring and landed on Morrison. Both Rey and HBK went back into the ring as the show went to break.

[Commercial Break]

Miz missed a springboard legdrop on HBK out of break and both men were down. Both made tags and Mysterio got the better of the early exchanges, but a distraction by Morrison allowed Miz to throw Mysterio from the apron into the steel post. Miz applied a bow-and-arrow type move on Rey. A sunset flip by Miz led to a low dropkick by Rey. Rey couldn’t capitalize though and Morrison tagged in. Hard whip into the buckle by Morrison. Miz and Morrison took the offense right to Mysterio for an extended period. Morrison went for his springboard kick, but Rey met him with a dropkick in mid-air. Both men were down. Michaels and Miz tagged in and HBK was a house of fire. He did all his signature moves, including the flying forearm, inverted atomic drop and elbow off the top. Miz fell on his back to avoid a superkick. All four men eventually came in the ring. Rey monkey-flipped Miz into a 619, followed by Sweet Chin Music on Miz. Morrison came in and hit HBK with one of his own, then dove on Rey. Miz put the arm over Michaels and got the pin.

Winners: Miz & Morrison, at 11:26. Nice. Glad Miz & Morrison were able to (sort-of) get a win back.

-Michael Cole plugged green week on USA. He said he uses reusable shopping bags when he shops. Lawler said he follows his girlfriend around the house and when she turns on a light, he turns it off. Plus, it’s more fun with your gf in the dark. His words, not mine.

-Another John Cena video aired.

-Chris Jericho was backstage watching the end of the Cena video. Steph came up to him and apparently Jericho wanted equal time. Jericho warned Steph that when Cena returns, there’s going to be problems on Raw. He also said the only thing that would prevent anarchy is if he retains the title at Survivor Series. Solid promo.

[Commercial Break]

-Todd Grisham brought CM Punk into the picture backstage for a pre-match promo. Not much of a crowd reaction. They showed what happened at Unforgiven two months ago. Punk said he didn’t know why Randy kicked him in the head and said maybe Orton wanted to feel relevant and wanted to prove he still mattered, but Orton ruined Punk’s miracle year. Punk said about the lumberjack match, he wasn’t going anywhere and now Randy won’t be either. Punk said his father wasn’t a WWE H.O.F’er and he wasn’t mentored by Ric Flair or Triple H, but he worked for everything he’s got. He said tonight, he’s getting payback. Great promo.

-JBL was suiting up for his tag match. Kane walked in and asked sarcastically if JBL had any advice. JBL said they should co-exist fine. Kane noted they don’t have much in common and that JBL better not give him any orders.

-Cryme Tyme came out for the tag match.

[Commercial Break]

(4) Cryme Tyme vs. JBL & Kane
They showed Cryme Tyme talking to Akon during the commercial and Akon doing their catchphrase. CT double-teamed JBL as the crowd sat on their hands. JTG sling-shotted over the top rope with the help of Shad, and onto JBL who was running the ropes. JBL tagged Kane, who did some damage on JTG. Kane went to the top and hit his flying clothesline onto JTG. He was ready for the chokeslam, but JBL tagged himself in and hit the Clothesline from Hell for the win.

Winners: JBL & Kane, at 2:54. JBL left the ring without Kane. Not much to the match.

-Kofi Kingston was talking to Evan Bourne backstage when Mike Knox attacked. He pushed Kofi into Bourne and they both fell down. He then threw Kofi into a pull-down door. He then went after Bourne, stepping on his crutch so he couldn’t get up. Then he slammed the crutch on Bourne’s ankle as Bourne begged him not to. It’s an ECW reunion with those three!

[Commercial Break]

-They showed what happened moments ago- When Mike Knox Attacks!

(5) William Regal vs. Matt Hardy
Regal got the mic and complained that a rap star got a better reaction than the I.C Champ (him). He then touted Great Britain over the United States.

Hardy got a quick roll-up, then a backslide for one. Regal was able to throw Hardy out of the ring, then booted him in the face on Hardy’s way in. Hardy apparently no-sold that, as seconds after, he pulled Regal out of the ring and showed no side-effects (no pun intended). Regal and Hardy continued their assault on each other as the referee’s count reached ten.

Winner: Double count-out, at 1:12. That was pointless. Other than to get some extra heat I guess for the PPV match, and to show that that can’t happen in tonight’s main event.

-Said main event was plugged.

-Chris Jericho is coming out next for some comments on his title match Sunday.

[Commercial Break]

-They showed clips of WWE’s latest overseas tours.

-Chris Jericho came out, suit and tie of course. Jericho wanted to give his story since Cena got his chance to tell his. Jericho talked about accomplishing the unthinkable in 2001, beating The Rock to become WCW Champion, then 20 minutes later, beating Steve Austin to become WWE Champion and subsequently, the first ever Undisputed Champion in history. He said that has superceded anything Cena has done before or since. Jericho said this past September, he won the very first Scramble match, beating four of the top Raw superstars to become champion. Jericho said he has achieved greatness time and time again since Cena has been on the shelf. He beat Punk in a cage to retain his title, then beat HBK in a Ladder match two weeks later. Then, two week ago, he beat Batista in a cage to become five-time champion. But, he said, all the pomp and circumstance has been saved for Cena. Jericho said he is on top of his game and he will refuse to let Cena walk in and take everything from him. Contrary to what we’ve heard, the centerpiece of Raw is not John Cena, but Chris Jericho. He said he will eliminate Cena and then, and only then, will Monday Night Raw be saved.

-30 WWE Superstars will be lumberjacks during the main event, next. I see some ECW guys (Mark Henry, Tommy Dreamer, Ricky Ortiz) will be involved too.
[Commercial Break]

-The lumberjacks were shown at ringside.

(6) Randy Orton vs. CM Punk- Lumberjack Match
Long lock-up that went to a stalemate. They did some mat wrestling, but neither came out on top and they stared at each other across the ring again. Orton got a kick to the gut, then threw Punk to the outside. He quickly got in before anyone could touch him and Orton yelled to them (including Manu and Rhodes), wondering what their problem was. Shoulderblock took Punk down, but Punk jumped up and got a kick to Orton’s face. Orton rolled out, but was in enemy territory, so Jamie Noble, Ricky Ortiz and Matt Hardy threw him back in. Punk threw Orton back there again. He cheap-shotted Noble and the faces hammered at him, including Batista. Lawler tried to one-up Matt Striker by giving the origin of the term “Lumberjack Match.” Punk was in the corner and Mark Henry pulled him out of hte ring. The faces and heels faced off while Punk was laying at Henry’s feet. He picked Punk up and tossed him into the ring. Punk fought back, but got caught with a standing dropkick from Orton. Cover got two. Punk tried to battle back, but was scoop slammed for two. Orton went for another chin-lock. They say to go with what you know, but this is too much. Swinging neck-breaker by Punk and both men were down. Punk used his educated feet to get a near-fall. Running knee into the corner, followed by a bulldog. That got two as well. Punk went for the GTS, but Orton countered. Punk dropkicked Orton out of the ring, but on the heel side. Punk then went flying to the outside onto Orton, Miz and Morrison. Regal distracted Punk back inside and Orton flew in and hit the RKO for the win.

Winner: Orton, at 9:23. Fine match, without using the lumberjacks too much.

Orton tried to hit his big kick, but Batista came in and speared Orton. Then the Survivor Series teams got in the ring and started beating on each other while the undercard guys attacked each other outside the ring.

Line of the night from Rhodes: "Keep talking, right now that's all you're good at.

Ladies and gentlemen, your future Intercontinental champion: CM Punk! Nice little subtle transition there; had to be done to get to Batista/Orton, and gave Punk somewhere relevant to go.

Ooh. That's something worth looking forward to. Suppose we'll get to find out just who's knee hits harder.

Too bad Mike Adamle is gone, else we might have one day been looking forward to a "Loaded Kneepad on a Pole Match," another Adamle Original.

Oh, and I forgot to add earlier: Nice job by the ref almost screwing up Batista's interruption of the Orton Headkick.

I am in love with the fact that JBL and his least favorite wrestler ever are part of the same tag team at Survivor Series.

Morrison may have become my favorite wrestler with that finish. Although Jericho's career highlights oblige me to say that he remains awesome.

Y'know him pushing the ref out of the way and catching Orton with the Spear actually made the move look that more sudden. It was a rather convenient almost-botch.

Wow, all the build with The Orton v. Punk fued ending quickly on two Raws left me flat. I was really hoping that would be the next big non-title feud after HBK v. Jericho. If Punk somehow becomes a dual champion out of this I'll be a very happy Angel......777.

Seeing as I'm immobile with a sprained left knee and can't walk, I decided it would be a good time to actually watch this Dynamite Kid DVD I've had for months. I also decided to do a recap/review of the DVD for no particular reason.
