TONIGHT: The show emanates from jolly olde England and features an Intercontinental Title Match as Santino Marella defends against William Regal. That is all we’ve got announced by WWE.com.

-WWE Open.

-The opening was highlights of last week’s cage match for the title.

-No Raw open, or fireworks, but we do get Batista to lead things off. Lots of boos for him. He said he’s here tonight to invoke his re-match clause and that’s exactly what he’s going to do. Stephanie McMahon interrupted him, from WWE Headquarters on the Titan-Tron. She said it isn’t possible for Batista to invoke his clause tonight. She said her brother made it clear last week that the winner of last week’s match would face John Cena at Survivor Series. She said he cannot invoke his re-match clause before Survivor Series. Stephanie turned her attention to the GM situation. She said Mike Adamle quit last week, and that it’s time to put some finality to some issues that have been happening on Raw. First, she put Kane against Rey Mysterio in a no-DQ match. Then, Chris Jericho will face Shawn Michaels in a Last Man Standing Match, to ensure closure. So that epic feud has come down to the blow-off match being un-advertised and on Raw, not PPV. She thanked Batista for being so understanding.

Randy Orton came out after Steph had finished her spiel. Orton said Batista would have to wait in line for his title shot. He noted that Cena would get his shot at S.S, then he’d get his turn. Orton said he has always been better than Batista, and that’s why he got kicked out of Evolution four years ago. Orton said Batista couldn’t beat him then and he can’t beat him now. “RKO, RKO” chants from the fans. Batista said that history is written by winners and that he has been better than Orton in every way, shape or form. Batista reminded Orton that Steph said tonight is about settling old scores. He then proposed a match between the two of them to put things behind them. Orton accepted the challenge. He said that when he becomes champion, he’ll hold the belt longer than eight days. Batista threw his mic to Orton then set up for the Batista Bomb, but Orton escaped before damage could be done.

[Commercial Break]

(1) Santino Marella vs. William Regal- Intercontinental Title Match
Santino, before the match, said that he is so confident he’ll win the match that he has done away with the Honk-A-Meter. Boo! Instead, he replaced it with the Honk-A-Perfect-Mountie-Meter. Yay! He said their combined reigns lasted 123 weeks. His reign: 13 weeks. Crowd started chanting for him, so he acknowledged it. He said in two years, four months, he’d break that record. He called William Regal a “fancy boy” and said he wouldn’t take the title from him, since he’s from the best country in Europe. Regal’s music then interrupted. He came to the ring for a mild pop. Before the match, they did in-ring introductions.

Regal whipped Marella into the corner and caught him with an elbow. Running knee to the head and that does it.

Winner: Regal, at :31. That sucks. I guess the Honk-A-Meter became useless after Santino’s quick feud with HTM ended. Still, it was usually the best part of the show.

Michael Cole got in the ring to interview Regal and asked him how it felt to be champion again. Crowd chanted “Regal, Regal.” He said he’ll be proud to wear the title with the pride and dignity of an Englishman. He did some more sucking up to the crowd and said he was honored to be our (or their) Intercontinental Champion.

-Tonight, Batista faces Randy Orton. Also, Rey Mysterio faces Kane in a no-DQ match. Plus, HBK faces Chris Jericho in a Last Man Standing Match.

[Commercial Break]

-Kane was backstage with his creepy music and red lighting. Kane said he liked torturing kids when he was younger, which is why he likes beating up Rey. He said he’ll do anything to Rey tonight that he wants to. He said he never liked being liked by anyone. After tonight, we’ll like him less, which means he’ll like himself all the more.

(2) D-Lo Brown vs. Mike Knox
Cole noted that this was Knox’s Raw debut. Knox hammered away at Brown in the corner, including a few ugly knees once he got Brown to the ground. Bicycle kick by Knox, followed by the Knox Out.

Winner: Knox, at 1:01. Anything but smooth.

-Cole and Lawler threw it to a video of fans buying tickets for WrestleMania.

-Beth Phoenix was backstage searching for Santino. She found him and he was just getting off the phone with Shane McMahon. He said he never liked Shane. Santino also said Shane put Bet hin a match against Mickie James for the Women’s Title. Beth was PISSED and blamed Santino for it.

[Commercial Break]

-Cole and Lawler talked about Cena vs. Jericho at Survivor Series, then they showed a video package of John Cena making his Raw debut in 2005. A LONG video package.

-Jericho came out and made fun of the video. He wanted to remind Cena about the Batista story. He just said he was the best in the world today. Then he transitioned to the Shawn Michaels story, and how he exposed Michaels and his fans. He re-capped their feud and called tonight’s match their final chapter. He said that when Cena comes around, he’s going to show fans that not every story has a happy ending.

-Rey Mysterio was walking backstage, heading to the ring for his match with Kane and it is next.

[Commercial Break]

(3) Rey Mysterio vs. Kane- No Disqualification Match
The two immediately took the match to the outside, where Rey hid under the ring. Kane couldn’t find him until Rey hit a drop toe-hold on him onto the steps. Rey blocked Kane throwing him into the steel post. Mysterio hit a moonsault off the top of the barricade. He then went back into the ring as the show went to break.

[Commercial Break]

Kane had control of the match, in the ring, out of break. Cole tried to break down the Rey-Kane feud, as well as Kane’s promo earlier. Rey hit a head-scissor that set Kane up for the 619, but Kane moved. Kane then grabbed Rey by the legs, and threw him side-first into the barricade on the outside. After some more damage, Kane shouted for Rey to just quit. Back in the ring, Kane put the boots to Rey, and bounced his arm off the mat. Rey fought back finally with a bulldog. Kane got a two-count off a big boot, then ripped the padding off of the top two turnbuckles. Rey was going to crucifix slam him on them, but Rey got out of the way. Hurricanrana put Kane down, but then he ran into a right hand. Kane missed a big boot and got tangled in the ropes. Rey dropkicked him to the apron and Rey was able to choke him on the top rope. Rey jumped over the top and to the outside, only to be greeted by a shot to the throat. Kane removed the padding from ringside, exposing the concrete floor. Rey hit an ugly DDT on Kane after he used the ropes for balance. Rey got a two-count once back in the ring. Rey was able to hit a 619, then a springboard splash. Kane, however, caught Rey in the throat on the splash. Kane went face-first into the exposed buckle, then landed another ugly seated senton for the win.

Winner: Rey, at 12:13. It had its moments, but there were some not-so-pretty spots too.

-Manu and Cody Rhodes confronted Randy Orton in the locker room. They said Orton has had a week to think about what happened in giving Ted Dibiase a concussion last week. Orton said Teddy was the weak link in the group, losing the tag titles, eliminating them from the battle royal and interfering in his match last week. Orton said he did what they didn’t have the guts to do. Orton said the fact remains that neither of them are in his league. Rhodes hauled off and slapped Orton, while Manu held Orton back. They stared each other down, then Orton walked away.

[Commercial Break]

(4) Batista vs. Randy Orton
Before the match began, the remaining member of Team Priceless made their way to the ring. Cody got the mic and said Orton can’t beat HIM, and everyone knows he can’t beat Batista, but HE will beat Batista. O.....K.

(4) Batista vs. Cody Rhodes
Batista beat up Rhodes in the corner, then hit him with a bit boot. He went for the Batista Bomb, looking at Orton at the top of the ramp, and Rhodes went for the knee. Bulldog off the top, but Rhodes only got two. Rhodes worked Batista’s knee again. Batista shooed him off, and hit a clothesline in the corner. Rhodes got a drop toe-hold that bounced Batista’s face of the middle turnbuckle. Manu got a cheap shot in as the crowd sat in silence. Batista met Rhodes coming off the rope with a big boot. Rhodes worked out of a powerslam, but Batista hit a spine-buster. Manu then got clotheslined off the apron and Batista Bomb for Rhodes.

Winner: Batista, at 2:40. It was like the match was in slow-motion. Manu got speared for good measure after the match.

[Commercial Break]

(5) Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James- Women’s Title Match
Beth went after Mickie before the match started. Mickie flipped out of a chicken-wing attempt. Beth covered up when she anticipated a seated dropkick by Mickie, which was unique. Mickie paused, then went after Beth anyway. Whip into the buckle by Beth, but Mickie fought out of it. Santino pulled Mickie down when she tried to go to the top. She kicked Santino, but that allowed Beth to push her into the buckle and it looked like Mickie’s head bounced off the steel post for the pin.

Winner: Beth, at 2:02. Hopefully, that’s not the end of Mickie’s challenges. Beth still didn’t look happy after the match, but Santino put her on his shoulders and danced around with her.

[Commercial Break]

-A video package of the HBK-Jericho feud aired, specifically, Rebecca getting punched in the mouth by Y2J.

-Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels both came out for their match. It is next.

[Commercial Break- including a promo plugging a CM Punk vs. Randy Orton match next week on Raw]

(6) Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels- Last Man Standing Match
Boy Shawn sure is aggressive and angry; wasn’t he just joking about this angle last week as part of DX? Does that not count? Jericho was down for a few counts early, and hit a flying forearm. He went to the top for an elbow, but Jericho got the knees up. Jericho went for his springboard dropkick, but Michaels ducked and Jericho somehow sailed over the top rope and to ringside. What was he going for there exactly? Michaels with a twisting body splash onto Jericho on the outside. He then dove onto Jericho from behind when Chris got to his feet. Jericho dodged Sweet Chin Music, and hit a face-buster in the aisle. Jericho nailed HBK with a stiff right hand when Michaels got to his feet. Michaels got to his feet after that....and they took a break as Jericho was about to hit him with a move.

[Commercial Break]

Back to the show, they’re creeping closer to the entrance. Shawn was down, having just been slammed into the UK cab thats part of the set. HBK turned the tables and monkey-flipped Y2J into a mailbox. Never thought I’d type that sentence. Michaels (sorta) hip-tossed Jericho onto the car. HBK set up for a pile-driver on top of the car, but Jericho turned it around and hooked in the Walls of Jericho. Michaels, on the floor, finally made to his feet at 9. Jericho haphazardly jumped off the roof of the car, but Michaels hit him in the gut with a punch. Michaels threw Jericho off the stage and onto the concrete below, though it was a short drop. Jericho came up holding his elbow. Michaels used the steel crane that the camera is hooked into and swung it at Jericho, nailing him and sending him to the concrete. Michaels brought Jericho back to ringside through the crowd. They didn’t have to go very far.

A ladder was retrieved from under the ring and Jericho hit HBK with it. He charged at HBK with it and hit HBK in the head. Michaels was down for an eight-count. Jericho missed hitting HBK with the ladder, and instead rammed it into the ring post. Michaels threw the ladder at Jericho, hitting him and sending him to the floor. Jericho was placed on the announce table and HBK readied the ladder. HBK went to the top of the ladder and hit an elbowdrop. Well, not the very top and it wasn’t any further down than the top rope (it appeared to me), but they DID go through a table I guess. JBL, out of nowhere came from the crowd to attack, but HBK threw him over the barricade. Jericho then hit HBK with the title belt. Michaels got to his feet at nine. Michaels hit Jericho with Sweet Chin Music, but JBL blasted Michaels with the steel chair, courtesy of JBL. Referee Mike Chioda made the count on both men. Jericho was up at eight, but HBK stayed down.

Winner: Jericho, at 18:33. Good LMS match, especially for Raw. Too bad the interference had to tarnish Jericho’s win. I understand they want to add to the budding HBK-JBL feud though.

Regardless, you'd think after putting three months of TV into that angle, they might have had a more memorable ending for it cooked up. I'm happy for Regal since it had to suck to have the biggest push of your career evaporate. Then again, it's just the IC belt. They should give him the GM job back.

No, no. Guys like Regal and Burchill (if he was over) are faces by default in England. And they work that style, especially since the WWE likes to pretend that whatever happens in England stays in England.

It's just like Bret Hart being an uber-face in Canada when he was the biggest heel in the company back in the States.

It was perhaps a bit fitting, given that Honky himself lost the belt in about 20 seconds.

Yep, as ever they make coming to England a big deal but fail to treat it as just an ordinary TV taping.

No need for the bloomin' phone box, taxi etc, terribly cliche. Just easy objects to use as weapons.
Don't get me going again on them showing Tower Bridge !

Next time WWE go to New York will anyone notice if they show outdoor shots of Chicago ?! - exactly.

No more Honk O Meter? Like I needed one more reason to not watch Raw. With Jericho-HBK done, will there be ANY segments left that I won't fast forward through??

Personally I'm all for the Honk-o-meter being gone. It was fun at first but the last 3 or 4 weeks the segments have been awful. Besides, all the Santino fans thought he was funny before the Honk-o-meter, so they'll probably still think he's funny without it. It's not like he dropped his whole character. And there's a lot of complaint about the IC title being crap. It's never going to change with Santino as champion. In fact, he's possibly the worst wrestler on the roster. At least let someone that can have good matches hold the IC title.

Add Shaniqua(remember her?) to the mix instead of Amy Webber and you've got a winner there. She'll whip the team around, and Orlando will really enjoy himself.

I don't see how he's "the worst wrestler on the roster". It can't be cause he wrestles comedy style is it? Cause it takes a certain kinda skill to wrestle comedy style, and still be laughed at for shenanigans and also booed for being a heel. Everyone not having the same serious style makes for variation, and every major wrestling company has a comedy wrestler or two to break up the monotony.

I mean could you really say Marella is a worst wrestler than say Gene Snitsky? I think crowd reactions beg to differ, if Snitsky even got a reaction that is.

No it's not because he's wrestling a comedy style, it's because he was made a comedy character because his wrestling was so bad. His reaction has nothing to do with his wrestling or he would've been over when he debuted as a underdog face. There's a good reason that all of Santino's matches since September have averaged 1:04, because his wrestling sucks so bad they want him in the ring as little as possible.
