Ahh its Tuesday morning, time for my weekly dose of cynicism. I thought Raw was pretty good last night. Rosey and Hurricane was hysterical, and this should be fun, hopefully leading to some kind of tag reign. Storm and Goldust I think will also be fun. Though they are 2 similar story lines, I am happy that some of my favorite performers are getting on air time.
RVD vs Jericho was a good match, and that ending kind of surprised me as I didnt think the split legged would get the pin. I think Jericho may pull a swerve in hair vs hair (as someone pointed out in the elimination chamber thread) and shave his beard, or just get a little bit cut or something like that.
The ladies had a decent match, and the Gail Kim turn surprised me. I dont know if Molly turned face as others have stated as she did attack Trish.
Christian vs Hurricane was a neat little match, and as I said, Rosey cracked me up.
The main event was about as good as could be expected, and an RVD run in wouldve made sense, but I am sure they will have something for that next week. Remember te storyline is already kind of in place as they were tag partners, and Kane has attacked him on several occasions.
Overall I thought it was a good show, and the elimination chamber at Summerslam opens the card for more people. Is there a rule that the elimination chamber can only be used at PPVs with the abbreviation of SS.
Originally posted by Underwater Orton/Steiner was pretty bad. Orton has been really unimpressive in the ring lately and Steiner is a giant bag of suck. Jeez, couldn't have Orton won a little more convincingly? If you're trying to build him up as something special he should be able to roll through someone like Steiner.
When Steiner's entrance hit on the EntertainmentTron, was it wrong of me to crack up my roommate by going, "Uh-oh, it's the workrate alarm?"
Just asking.

The only thing that really bothers me about the Elimination Chamber is that it cancels two other matches on the Raw side. Granted, Nash/Jericho didn't have a lot of potential, but I was really curious to see how Orton/Michaels would have turned out. I guess they have the luxury of making those matches the following month at Unforgiven. On the other hand, it gives more time for other Raw matches at SS, so it could work out well for everyone. RVD/Kane being thrown back together is sorta irritating, though.
The WWE is gonna have to really load the rest of the Summerslam card to get my money. This match just killed my interest in buying the PPV.
And I actually want Jericho to lose the locks. All long-haired Canadians look better post-shorn. Test, Christian, Val. Just pile 'em in a bus and drive them to a boot camp.
I would only root for Nash to lose the hair if Jericho subsequently wore a wig meant to symbolize Nash's entire coif. "Who's your Big Daddy Cool now, assclowns?!"

Supposedly awhile back they did go to Edge and asked him to cut his hair. He told them no way.
I can't imagine Edge or RVD with short hair.
Actually, funny you should mention that.
Edge wrote in his web column a little while back that he has cut his hair, despite -- as he put it -- several borderline death threats from his lady fans.
This whole "all wrestlers have to look the exact same" is ridiculous. Aren't pro-wrestlers supposed to looke unique and different?
I mean, why cut Edge's hair? His hair is half his gimmick. All they need to do now is knock out all of his teeth and Edge will have no personality whatsoever.
Perfect example: Look at Kidman. With his old longer hair the guy looked like a rock star. Now he looks like some guy you'd bump into on the street (that sounded odd). It's quite ridiculous.
Definitely better than last week for sure. Canadian wrestling fans rule. I'm a bit annoyed with the Elimination Chamber thing, just because Nash and HBK are in it. Not because I hate them, it's because that would deprive me of Y2J/HBK III, and well, Nash doesn't need another title shot. Jericho and RVD was so great. Lots of near falls, it almost reminded me of Japan (no shilling). HHH once again improved the quality of the commentary by about 1000%. Simply put, me like Evolution. Me REALLY like Evolution. I hope I don't jinx things, but this Kane stuff is F-U-N! I don't pay much attention to the crap segments, so I won't mention them here.
LANCEDUST~! That's not crap at all, like it already.
Hair vs. hair, haven't seen that since Summerslam '98, and before that, when I was little. I used to love those matches when I was young. But, don't we have enough bald guys? One more thing. Gail Kim a heel? Whatever, just get this woman a character, ok? I'll give more opinions on that later. The women's match was great however, and isn't it about time for LITA?!
Anyway, Summerslam looks... okay so far, from both brands. Just okay.

Edge DIDN'T cut his hair, he was just joking. There was a picture of him in the paper here last week because he was doing a signing and he's still got all his hair.
Mediocre show, but considering it was coming off the Australian trip, better than expected. Congratulations Christian: You've gone from facing Booker T for the I-C Title to getting destroyed post match by Shockmaster '03. Whoever took away Flair's music should be shot. It appears that Nash and Vince's son should contact Bischoff about using some of his 'Just for Men' to combat the grayness. Opening 20 minute segment would have been nice if after Austin asked Vince's son if he was a WWF/E superstar, he then stunned him, since he wouldn't be prohibited from touching him without provocation. Was anyone actually surprised the Canadian fans turned on the Disappointment? If Lawler is going to hype Bischoff vs. Vince's son like Schiavone on Nitro, then just hire Schiavone. Was I the only one who noticed Charles Robinson give the supersecret signal after the first match and the hard way opening of Dupre by D-Von with the flag? For locker room leaders, the Dudley's have been extremely sloppy this year. Kane in the police van is going to get very old, very fast.
Cubs, White Sox and Red Sox fans unite. Its time to overthrow the German Government and re-install our beloved Kaiser. Remember, Kaiser ='s World Series victories.
Lawler was in such brutal forum this week. Just pathetic. Especially during the women match and Y2J/RVD match, why is it whenever Jericho is in a good important match Lawler feels it's time to get his pointless Coach feud over. I hate him! They also shouldn't have gone all WCW hyping the "match of a lifetime" on Shane/Bischoff when they hardly hook up... Couple of odd things I notice, first no ramp, I was expecting a big lumbering thing to come down the entrance and if you don't include Rosey nothing did. Plus Lillian was wearing pants, which usually means she taking some sort of bump but that didn't happen either. Swerves a plenty.
-Shane/Bischoff/Austin interview- Shane comes out to a surprising "Shave Your Back" chant! Oh wait it's a "Shane O Mac chant". Bischoff with his DeadCow comes out that he's not going to be booked in SummerSlam vs. Kane(now that is shocking, I thought that match was a given). Austin comes out and plays reverse psychology What? Says Linda is mature with big breasts DOUBLE WHAT?. There was no Canadian content on the show so he went and drank some Molson Canadians so the CRTC won't get angry.
-Dupree vs. Bubba Ray- Okay I mark out for Frenchies prancing that’s my current favourite taunt. Not really much of a match only 2 and a half minutes. Sylvian came in for no real reason because Rene was in control and Slyvian hit him then D-von hit him hard with the flag to get Bubba the win. The referee gives the dreaded "X" sign(I'm such an insider), someones hurt! That someone is Depree, thank goodness for Medi-Care.
-Orton vs. Steiner- Orton runs hot and cold with me, he just seems very generic a lot of the times. He looked alright vs. the Dudleyz couple of weeks ago and looked great against Maven a month or so ago. but he just doesn't have too much sizzle in him a lot of the time like this match. But I guess it's difficult with someone like Steiner.
-Christian vs. Hurricane- Nice too see Hurricane still has his superpowers in jobbing. Another 2 minute match, for the short time they were in there they were okay. Somersault plancha was a nice effort but it didn't get much of Christian... Sorry not feeling the Rosey thing, there's just so much "wacky" tag teams I can handle and more importantly so much Rosey matches I care to see. But I did find it funny that after one move the fans chanted Holy Sh*t to Rosey, is he going to get that in every spot he does LoL
-Goldberg vs. Flair- Flair comes out to Evolution music. That's just wrong! The Evo song is okay but when Flair is out there 1 on 1 it's gotta be the FLAIR WHOOO song. Flair tries to seduce Lillian with the old "Wanna look under my robe game". HA no luck old man, you'll get better luck Goldberg selling your offense then Lillian selling your advances... Goldberg comes out to a negative reaction, he might win them over with his workrate naaa he's screwed tonight. Crowd hates ever no sell by Goldberg and cheered loudly for every cheating move by Flair, I still get a kick when Flair is out there. They gave Orton a giant cheer for whacking Goldberg with a chair. Clique members and Jericho all run out and bizarro world goes down because the cheering and pops make no sense LoL. Jericho comes running back in late to be met with a powerbomb.
-Trish vs. Molly- Trish comes in with her long coat& Hart Foundation attire(pink& black attack). Lillian smiles& Now looks like she wants to play "What's under my long coat". Trish politely says "No time, I 've got a women title to win"(poor Trish your a Canadian in Canada, NOT happening, it's against WWE charter of being mean). Menu of the night is short matches & this is no exception quick pin attempts by Molly featuring a nice Northern Lights suplex, then Trish with her pin attempts topped with a nice twisting headscissor from the corner. Nice looking Matrix move with Molly exaggerated fall to the outside. On the outside Vicky interfering... Scary looking bump with the sideslam on the outside, Trish's back/head hit with a thud and Vicky knee looked like it gave out. Molly & Vicky confrontation, Molly face turn! nope she kicks down Trish again. Gail run-in & does a stunning heel turn. Think of your longtime fans!
-RVD vs. Y2J-RVD seems to be the happiest man in B.C. He's smiling & chatting with Lillian. Not like normal people would do, he's actually seeing her as a big bag of potato chips. RVD:"Oh it's good to see you!".. LG:"Thanks".. RVD:"Do you have you in Salt & Vinegar?" .. LG:"Excuse Me". RVD:"Nevermind I'll look for a different you later". You can smell it on him LoL... Jericho finally comes out, what a fantastic match. Major dives to the outside by both men, then RVD suplex Y2J to the outside. Back & forth action with near falls that fooled me. It was up in the air on who would win. Both men missed by an inch with their finishers. With RVD squeaking with a win. I was a little surprised but then WWE thought ahead(what a concept). And Y2J used the "I was powerbombed earlier by Nash" card(Hey that actually makes sense). Major props for both especially considering this weekend they were on the other side of the world.
-Bischoff vs. Shane- Very WCWish by hyping the hell out of this between 2 non-wrestlers then having a run-in. Sure we all expect it but extra hyping it is just making you ready for a bigger disappointment. Really nothing much happened, Shane took some bumps... Being honest the change from Shane to RVD vs. Kane threw me off.
-other stuff- Goldust & Storm is my whacky team of the moment... Rosey & Hurricane isn't... Okay I'm getting creeped out with Flair knowing in detail of all of HHH bedroom happenings... Austin screaming "ahh ah" when entering a room is one of the little things that make me luv the guy... Trish and Stacy going down under is Confidential goodness waiting to be recapped.
-Line of the Night: Austin "He said he big breasted mature women like YOUR MOM" -Sign of the Night: "BC 420" During the RVD match. Must say "Rob has VD" sign had a sick humor to it. -3Stars of the Night: 1)Jericho. 2)RVD. 3)Trish- Jericho & RVD for their fantastic match. Trish pretty much by default, she edged out Flair cause she took a impressive bump on the outside via spiders web.
First hour was pretty bad, Hurricane/Christian might be the only bright spot. Second hour was good being on the shoulders of Y2J/RVD who did a fantastic job. The surrealness of ultra-over Flair vs. hated Goldberg (I called it, well that wasn't too tough) and the aftermath of all heels getting pops and faces getting booed was interesting... Hopefully Victoria is okay, I would have wagered big that Gail would be send down but she's back and getting a strong heel try. Her non-face reaction was one problem the other one is she couldn't hit half her moves with Molly freakin Holly with her. How is being a heel going to help that. I know Trish has a ability of making heels look ultra-strong but still I think Gail for her own good needs to step back a bit. Last segment was a let down. I think the Chamber is a good idea especially for a split PPV. Jericho vs. Nash in hair vs. hair. buh gawd!
As for the whole Edge hair cut thing (strange the page doesn't come up anymore, when was it dated), if it was more then 2 weeks ago he might have cut it a little as late as two weeks ago he still had hair long enough to tie up in a pony tail. He was along with Trish were doing stuff at the Molson Indy couple of weeks ago here's a picture of himClick Here (1049xfm.com)

I think Goldberg used the remaining supply in his beard.
Flair using Evolution's music does make some sense. His 2001 music always elicits Whooo's from the crowd and gives him a face reaction. Especially up north, they didn't need to give the fans any extra ammo to cheer him instead of Goldberg. And while I do really like Motorhead in HHH's theme, it just desn't do it for me in the Evolution one.
Is it just me, or did Rosey really seem to be enjoying himself?
Edge DIDN'T cut his hair, he was just joking. There was a picture of him in the paper here last week because he was doing a signing and he's still got all his hair.
Yeah, I believe he said that in the next paragraph or so in that column.
Essa Rios! Oh...sorry Victoria.
HA!
Also, the Mattitude, EWR, and Stop Pushing Test signs were funny...I also liked JAY-Z FEARS JOHN CENA.
And the women`s division has become such a confusing mess..anyone remember the Ivory/Jazz feud? It was well-booked and logical..and then came Gail Kim and that battle royal. And I don`t remember seeing any confirmation that Jazz`s injury was real or not? This is what the Ross Report was good for, not vague statements about "hosses," but honest injury reports.

Two comments... first, Rosey is going to get over huge with this new gimmick, and there are a couple of important reasons for it. First, Hurricane is a lot like Scotty 2 Hotty (one of the most underrated workers in the history of the WWF) in two ways: he has a lot of natural charisma, and as Eric S. pointed out in a column about a month ago, he has the innate ability to get a stupid gimmick over. Rosey will be able to feed off that.
The more important reason though is this: Hurricane is also like Scotty in the sense that when he gets paired with somebody, the motivation of his partner goes through the roof. Why? Because they have fun out there. Look at A-Train for instance - what was the only time I ever cared about Albert? Answer: When he teamed with Scotty 2 Hotty. Why? Because Albert had fun - and when you have fun, you do better at your job. It's true for anything. And the audience always has the intelligence to catch on to that. The same thing is going to happy with the Hurricane/Rosey pairing, just you watch.
In other words, Greymarch: No, it's not just you. Rosey IS having fun with this, and it's because of that that the gimmick will get him over...
My second comment's a bit briefer, and it goes like this: I don't know about you, but I don't mind a Jericho/Nash match that much - but if Nash gets to shave Chris bald, that just may be the last straw for me as far as I'm concerned. And I'm especially worried since heels usually lose these kinds of matches...
I actually don't mind the whole Hurricane/Rosey/SHIT angle as much as I thought I would. My only complaint is that it looks like they were teasing a Hurricane heel turn. I'm afraid they'll do this way too soon, and both men will find themselves left out in the dark after it's over.

Plus, the audience can have fun with it, because it gives the fans a chance to chant "Holy S.H.I.T" whenever he hits a big move.
And if this whole thing doesn't end with Roosevelt snatching a pebble out of the hand of Hurricane, I'll be SORELY disappointed.

Roosevelt's superhero costume should be a big teddy bear costume. At least for one week I'd like to see some big fat guy in a ridiculous bear costume doing high spots.

Yes, heaven forfend the fans get to cheer for who they want to, rather than who the WWE approves.

LOL! That reminds me of Paco from "Zorro, the Gay Blade".
When did Carlito lose to Orton, Orton, and Undertaker on RAW in a row? Also throw in a win over Edge and Jericho on Smackdown by the way. And a win over Morrison. Since he's a Smackdown guy, those count.
