But I can't recall Goldberg selling that well or that long for anyone ever. Hell, even on the finishing jackhammer, he made it look as if he took Flair over extra fast because his leg couldn't support the weight long enough to hold him up there for an extended period. Kudos to Bill for putting in some effort out there instead of just being indestructible monster man.

I dunno how much of it was selling and how much of it was Goldberg being weaker than usual tonight for some reason. If you notice earlier on in the match before Flair started working the leg, Goldberg went to press slam him and you can tell he kinda realized that once he had Flair at shoulder level that he wasn't going any higher, so he just quickly ended the slam and threw him down. It was weird to me because Flair seems so relatively small and he himself looked much stronger in giving the back/death suplex to Goldberg later in the match. Maybe Goldberg's arm infection (or whatever it was about a month ago) that kept him from working out made him lose more strength than anybody was letting on.

I thought last night was a pretty good show. Storm was hilarious, Jericho was awesome as usual, and Christian showed why he has peeps all over the world. I really am digging the S.H.I.T., and I laugh everytime Rosey does the pose. The womens match was OK, but it had an awesome ending with Molly outsmarting the lot of 'em. Finally, damn you Jackie Gayda, we wanted to make fun of you after a match! How dare you not make obvious mistakes like last time!

The good:

* Rosey camping it up is better than Rosey spending months going nowhere.

* Steiner's ad-lib.

* I always enjoy watching Spike Dudley. This says something about my character, I think, but I'm not sure what.

* More Molly == more gooder.

* GoldStorm could be headed for Blackmanesque levels of meta-humor.

The bad:

* More "Molly's ass" jokes == not more gooder. (As a one-off, fine. But I still want to know whether (a) Dustin threw Lance into a junction box so that HE'D stutter, too, or (b) whoever wrote the cue cards stutters when he WRITES. Okay, I'm going to relax now.)

* Jackie wrestled. Not as badly as she did in The Infamous Match, but let's face it -- that would be pretty freakin' hard to top.

* A big shiny sparkly "Spike" sign, looking like they recycled a sign from "Match Game '78." Pity they didn't go all the way with that -- they could've brought in Charles Nelson Reilly to teach Lance Storm how to say "WEE-WEE" and "BAZOOMS."

* Kane not having scars and burn marks is at least marginally explainable; it happened years ago. JR got torched within the last month.

* Why did anyone think that I wanted to see Shane-o-Mac vs. Eric Bischoff _once_... let alone twice?

I think I might be the only person who would have been a WWE fan for life, if J.R. had come out wearing a Kane mask, since he was burned a couple of weeks ago.

That would have been perfection.

The RVD 5-Star onto the chair was amazing.

Gail Kim is lucky to be alive.

Once again, Chris Jericho's mock laughter after the hair pictures made him the MVP of Raw yet again.

I don't think the people running Spike/TNN are smart enough to steal from Match Game '78. If they were to steal, it would be from that awful hybrid Hollywood Squares/Match Game '83 with Bowzer as the host. What a sad time that was.
Now, a few RAW thoughts:

20 minutes interview segments revolving around Jim Ross and lawsuits are a bad idea. As much as I dislike Coachman, he could have turned it all around by throwing a sucker punch at Ross when he kicked him out of the broadcast position.
Nice to see Randy Orton learned how to count a pinfall from Bronco Lubich. And, it was nice to see a ref realize that grabbing the ropes in a no-DQ match doesn't break a hold, as their is no 5 count they can give for the must break.
Pleasantly surprised they acknowledged the Christian house show win, and then didn't have him job it on the first night back.
Although the names of the McMahon's were mentioned, no McMahon actually was on a TV set for the first time in over a month.

Steiner/Stacy vs. Rico/Gayda - Although it was previously mentioned I also noticed that Steiner asked Gayda if she wanted to suck his dick when she tagged in, I think that sums up the segment quite nicely.

La Resistance - I really liked the beatdown and the celebration with wine. I thought it was a really well done segment and it seemed to get some pretty good heat on the french boys.

Highlight Reil - Really awful this week. They did the same stuff that Edge & Angle did a year or so ago and this time around it wasn't that funny. The crowd was just silent through the whole thing and Nash didn't give Jericho anything with those punches. Just brutal.

Everything else was pretty paint-by-numbers type of show. I didn't like it much.

Selling is overrated, especially when it's done in the wrong context. I thought it looked sort of absurd for Goldberg to be selling that much for Flair. They did take a step in the right direction with his character this week, by having him standing tall at the end. He can only wear wigs and be beaten down for so long.

Jericho is proving himself better than everyone else on a weekly basis lately. "NASHHOLE." Wow. Even Nash came out of that segment looking great. This is the first feud that's interested me on RAW in a while.

Everything else was pretty boring, though. Jim Ross really needs to go away and that Spike TV logo couldn't have looked any more feminine. I was almost expecting Rip Taylor to pop out of the "p" and throw pink confetti.

-Bischoff/Ross/Austin interview- Oh my Gawd, Bischoff got his DeadCow sponsored! JR comes out with a cursed tongue. Austin comes out and asks Bischoff to sign a contract and even warns his "Are you sure you don't want to read it?". Of course not, if you can't trust your archenemy who can you trust?

-Gayda/Rico vs. Stacy/Steiner- I think the IWC were waiting for disaster, but it wasn't too bad. Not good but they all wrestled in their means. I gotta say I love the visual of stacy's backward spinkick, it looks so cool with her being so tall. Rico doing the Stacy entrance was funny... Test v. Steiner next week, put the rent money on Test the only question is will Stacy turn heel or will we see a repeat of Marlina/Pillman with Stacy as an unwilling participant.

-Dudley Boyz vs. La Resistance- It's SpikeTV, nothing says manly like a couple of Build-up French guys in little tights with wine pouring all over their oiled up bodies. TV for Men Baby!... No real match to speak up La Resistance attacked Dudleyz with a flag, I might see a flag match for the title with Dudleyz winning it.

-Christian vs. Spike- on TV. Dare I say probably match of the night. Spike reverse a slam to a tornado DDT was sweet. I suspect Christian to retain but their were moments I thought Spike might have had it. Real nice effort

-Bischoff vs. Kane-JR comes back and tells The Coach to hit the bricks, that's was rude. I must say Kane's expressions are really well done by him, he really looks disturbing. Ahh they could have gone with the tweener monster who has no connection to anyone but it seems they will go the more traditional route and just be evil monster, even though they left a glimpse of tweener when after he said "He won't listen to anyone" turned to Bischoff like he just might go after him afterall. Lilian sells fear well.. RVD runs in, and I think missed a kick to the chair to Kanes face and just got Kanes face, tried to clothesline Kane over the ropes but it ain't happening. Vicious looking jump from the top misses on Kane into the guardrails. Pretty good battle between the two. JR had Emotion-yelling Level on High on this segment. "Hope Kane breaks ever bone in Eric's body then go outside and get hit by a truck" LoL.

-Molly v. Trish v. Gail- Gail says now we see get to know Gail, uh oh. Trish looked fantastic early, breaking out a major spinebuster and a full speed Theze Press. Trish does kinda of a doubletake in the corner(man people overreact negatively to the slightest thing with women)Trish recovered in a second and pulled her spot and then was thrown to the apron and took a nasty face-first shot to the apron. Then Gail who's eclipsed Lita as scariest women wrestler ever does an out of control plauncha to the outside, headfirst, luckily for her Trish moved up with arms extended to somewhat break Gails fall before Gail broke something else. Molly starts playing traffic cop, hangs Trish upside down in the corner and tricks Gail into a clothes, nice spot!... Finally some character development on Molly, okay she's the "Smart One" I could live with that. They should have had Trish beat on Gail after the match when she's let down.

-Hurricane vs. Mack- Hurricane Wins! This was a good big man vs. small man match.

-Highlight Reel- Ha Jericho said he'd shave his beard, it would have been funnier if he actually HAD A BEARD on this week. oh well. NashHole, that's pretty clever, were there some faint chants after LoL. This segment was okay. And I guess someone is getting a hair cut next week... Spike-TV, nothing says manly TV as two guys being very protective of their flowing long hair LoL

-Goldberg vs. Flair- SpikeTV nothing says manly TV like a young man reffing in tight biker shorts (Sorry last SpikeTV comment LoL). What a long overrun almost 10 minutes. This match just kept going. It was okay, Flair a master of holding my attention, it's a little sad seeing him just being fodder for everyone else.

-other stuff- HHH got the ref outfit for Orton, why on earth did he buy those extra tight biking shorts for him, Seriously? Found it funny seeing H and Flair chopping the youngsters chest, This Screams SpikeTV(last SpikeTV joke, honest this time LoL)... Molly got a backstage segment with DustStorm, that's ass ass ass astounding... Happy Dance Trish returns backstage...

Rosey and old lady was okay, not much of a pay off by Hurricane... So the winner of Bischoff/Kane gets Shane, isn't Kane scheduled to wrestle RVD, little stuff like that is just dumb. What's worse you have 4 spots open for Raw in a mixed brand PPV and one of the spots are taken by BISCHOFF, come on!

-Line of the Night: Jericho "NashHole" Wow LoL
-3Stars of the Night: 1)Trish. 2)Molly 3)Jericho - Trish mostly for early in the match showed great intensity and also pretty much save Gail from the fall. Molly played her role well. Jericho was pretty funny so he gets the last spot. Both Spike & Christian could have sneaked in here as well.

I thought the show was pretty good, nice at setting up things. Spike/Christian was probably the best in-ring match. The women match had it's moments, Molly established being the "Smart One". Mixed tag was alright so was the main event with Flair & Ortons antics. Nothing was too bad even La Resistance celebration was kinda funny. Backstage stuff was good as well... I enjoyed this show.

I think that was part of the joke.

Overall, a pretty bad Raw. Storm/Goldust skit was good, Hurricane was fun (as always), and Jericho was great. But beyond that, a pretty forgettable show.

Bischoff/Shane at SS? Why? You've got the combined rosters to use for the show, and they put Bischoff/Shane on the card? Lame.

I'm torn here. On the one hand, I was so annoyed with the whole opening segment. I know it's wrestling, but if somebody burned ME alive, you damn right I'd send his ass to jail, AND sue the guy who set me up at the same time. The way they did this was so annoying. But, evil Kane is really entertaining me regardless. Two weeks to Summerslam, and him and RVD aren't trading words? They were buds! We should be seeing the most intense RVD promos ever, but instead, it's all about "Will or Won't JR press charges?".

On the other hand, I really liked some of the show too. Y2J continues to carry the (virtually) uncarryable, and coined a new catchphrase for the ages. Evolution is soo much fun. Especially in the back with HHH and Flair when Randy went "OW!" That got the biggest laugh out of me. Molly rules, and that was so smart the way she suckered both her opponents, but Gail? Gail, I want to like you, but it's hard when you're vague with your answers.

So, an okay Raw.

I was down on RAW, and I'm usually quite forgiving. The first hour was a massive waste of time. When Spike is in the only passable match all hour, it's time to re-think things.

I don't care if JR is burned. I don't care if he goes off TV. Not only because he's not a wrestler, and not an entertainer, but additionally because he's done that TWICE this year. The only reason I'm glad is because Coach will be the fuck off TV for a bit, until they write it into the storyline that Bischoff poured BBQ sauce into JR's tub while Ross was sleeping in an attempt to drown him. Ross will of course, be back a few weeks later, but not without a "painful tang". Coach in his 45 minutes managed to said Spike re: Christian "took him to the limit and then some", not realizing, I'm sure that going beyong the limit would have meant Spike won. That's why you don't complie cliches.

I like Bischoff, but I do not care about his matches. When Austin came out, that was THREE guys in the ring at the SAME TIME, in the OPENING segement, who CAN'T WRESTLE and DON'T WORK HOUSE SHOWS. If that was the only thing that sucked about it, I'd shut my phatt yap, but then we have JR accusing Bischoff of setting him up. Um, how? When? Where's the justification for that? Austin's the one that angered Kane into a murderous frenzy. Austin's the one that pushed him over the edge. So Bischoff, by setting up Kane for an interview with Ross, automatically knew he was going to set the fat hick ablaze? That's some rampant speculation, there. Does Austin have to rape JR's wife before he holds him accountable for anything?

Then, they set up Kane/Bischoff, which the fans loved the sound of. Did they deliver? No.

Did they deliver Steiner and Test? No.

Did they deliver the tag-title match they teased? No.

The S.H.I.T. is fine, but it's not so funny I want to see it for weeks on end. It's kind of like the Goldust tourette's thing, you know these clod writers will let it drag on for too long.

Highlight Reel was entertaining, but by this point if I'm a fan in attendance I'm wondering why I can't get a fucking match on this show and why I have to sit through an infomercial not for the PPV (which is understandable) but for next week's free RAW. In fact, as a fan sitting through this, I felt like my presence was not required this week. That's not good television.

Flair/Goldy was good, if you can sit through the mammoth Jew selling for this flabby old man for that long without rolling your eyes. Orton needs a personality that doesn't seem like it's being borrowed from someone else. The HBK shorts were too much. Flesh coloured biker shorts would have been a step up, at least. I also liked the chopping backstage but if he keep acting like that it'll be hard to believe him kicking ass. Comedy does not = believable ass kicking. Legend killers do not let people redden their nipples.

I dunno its kind of a throwback to the way wrestling on TV used to be building up to a big match the following week. I miss that. The booking on the fly gets a little stale sometimes.

Only part of JR's body that was set on fire was his back, so you couldn't see the "scars" because of his shirt. He was never burned on his face or hands.

Are you fucking serious? The announcers have mentioned the plane crash during every single Ric Flair match for the past 20 years. Next you'll tell us you've never seen Flair kick someone in the rocks.
