Todd Grisham is just sad and lazy. You think Buster Olney, John Clayton, Jay Glazer, or ESPNdeportes.com would've just smiled and walked away from Shane McMahon like that?

Also, I'm a sucker because I was hoping for Punk vs. American Dragon last night.

Just because they've announced Cena v. Batista doesn't make it set in stone. I would guess that things happen in the next couple shows to move us to a Six-Pack Challenge. Punk v. Cena v. Batista v. JBL v. Kane v. Jericho.

Phoenix and Santino is the most perfect couple since Macho and Elizabeth.

I look forward to seeing people try to manipulate Adamle over the coming weeks. I suspect he will find he has lots of new friends now. Also, I fear for Michael Cole.

Jericho owns the world. If they stick to this "new Jericho" packaging, he could do anything. But Cade adds nothing to this angle, and he's going nowhere as a wrestler. He's made no progress, and anyone else could play his role right now.

Ms. Burchill is my favorite female wrestler now. She could be Victoria 2.0.

RAW has been interesting for more than a month now, and even the Adamle announcement makes me curious for next week.

Michaels vs. Undertaker perhaps? Mr. Wrestlemania vs. Wrestlemania streak. The man who ended Ric Flair's career vs. the man who almost ended Michaels. They have historic footage they can show from them facing each other in the buildup, but it will have been over 11 years since they faced each other, thus it will be fresh, and they have never faced each other at Mania.

Michales/Undertaker would be worlds better than HHH/Undertaker at WMXV, at least in my world.

I laughed so friggin' hard when Shane announced Adamele as the GM. Cena's reaction to the arm around the waist thing was gold, and then Mike going, "Ah, c'mon, it won't hurt!" with the clueless smile just made me giddy with the possibilities that could happen. Seriously, the clueless GM not having any idea that someone is trying to intimidate him, making matches and then Mike just walking away happy as a clam at the match he just made, not knowing someone wants to pummel him. Bring it on.

I agree on both points. But I suppose it was foolish of me to hope that they would just do away with the whole "evil on screen authority figure' that they have absolutely milked to death over the last 11(!) years.

On a positive note, after giving up on him a few months ago, Jericho's heel turn has made him my new hero. Consider me saved.

The only thing that could have made the Highlight Reel any better is if they pulled out footage of Jericho on Nitro at the top of the ramp with that wrestling book showing him how to apply that 1,001st wrestling hold.

My thinking was they DIDN'T plan to send JR out, but somebody suddenly decided to do so to save the show from Adamle's annoucing.

I think this is just a way to eventually get Adamle out the door. If they fire him now, that's Vince admitting he made a huge mistake in making Adamle the announcer of ECW. This way they can have Adamle as the Raw GM for 3 to 6 months and then have Vince eventually fire him just like he has with most of the previous GM's. The firing comes off as a planned storyline rather than Adamle being released for bad announcing.

So who becomes the new announcer on ECW? Does Styles come back?

In all the words I expended on Mike Adamle, I forgot to mention the two funniest things about Michael Cole being forced to wrestle.

One, he not only kept his jacket on but kept it buttoned. Wrestling match or not, Michael Cole doesn't sacrifice fashion.

Two, after Cole clocked Cody, Cody turned away to sell the punch. Cole motioned "C'mon!" and wouldn't take a second swing until Cody turned to face him. No shots from behind from Michael Cole. Michael Cole is all about fair play.

We learned a lot about Michael Cole last night.

Does anyone remember who first played the role of General Manager? I'm not thinking of Jack Tunney. I'm trying to figue out who started the trend back in the 1990's.

Punk/Regal was stiff enough for my wife to look up from her laptop and grab the remote to change the channel in disgust.

I found this funny (from PWInsider.com):

Mike Adamle pretty much revealed himself as the new RAW GM to the live crowd last night before he was supposed to. As soon as Shane McMahon's music hit, Adamle got up from the announcer's table and grabbed a mic. He was then told to sit down and wait until Shane announced him as the GM. This gave away the surprise to many in the crowd.

(Hey, good times, this looks like a success).

I really hope he doesn't turn out to be some 'evil genius'. I'm tired of the GMs having the most heat on a TV show. I want to watch RAW and Smackdown (and sometimes ECW and even Impact) for wrestling, not to see someone in a wheelchair get booed....

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

Commissioner started with Sgt. Slaughter, and then went HBK, Foley, Regal (til he turned alliance), and Foley again.

GM began with Bischoff & Steph.

There wasn't a GM in the 90's. The McMahons ran everything (on-camera) until the McMahon/Flair split ownership story. Even then, I think Flair was referred to as "owner". If I'm not mistaken, Bischoff was the first to hold the title of "General Manager" when he joined the WWE in '02 or '03.

Speaking of things forgotten, Batista lost a lot of luster for me. He stumbled through his promos, and he lumbered during the match. I haven't seen him work since his excellent matches against the Undertaker. His mic work set him apart initially from the other RAW guys when he was in Evolution. He was soft-spoken and generally clear.

Now? He looks and sounds like a rookie. Wha'happun?

I've seen the theory online today that Adamle as GM could be:

1) a parody of the office with Adamle as Michael Scott

2) a big mockery of Bischoff, since this is "clueless announcer trying to run the company."

Gorilla Monsoon actually occupied the position prior to Slaughter, as that was why he had the power to restart the Michaels/Hart Iron Man Match and make it Sudden Death when it originally ended in a draw.

I'd thought about him (and Piper), but before I posted I double-checked on Wiki, and apparently they were President (same role as Jack Tunney). Slaughter was the first commish.
